Really awesome Middle Eastern restaurant. One of the original established restaurant, and the quality, freshness authenticity and friendliness has been maintained. Portions are sizeable with great sides when you order entrees. The go to dish is the grilled Lamb Chops!! A never miss place if you are in the area. Highly recommend.

Google
They are not good like they use to be. I have been a customer for over 35 years and I can definitely tell the difference. Orders are wrong, rice over cooked no vegetables and chicken not done or over cooked. However Carmen is amazing and she does her best to keep them afloat with her awesome customer service.

Get the food. Order online and use those prices, don't look at menu prices from review photos if you are doing take out. Get the food. Don't ask twice. It's worth every penny. I went there last night and Diana had those men in shape cranking these orders out. Also, don't order a lot if you have a small stomach! The la sish combo for one was great to split amongst 2 people.

My friends and I will usually make the drive to this place for its great food. However, the service we received yesterday was quite appalling. Came with a party of 10 and we ate many baskets of bread. It’s usually complimentary, so we asked for it a few times, with even the waitress offering to get more when it ran out. However, when we got the bill, there was an unknown charge for $15. My friend had to ask them what it was before the waitress admitted that her manager changed his mind and decided to charge for the extra bread. This left a horrible taste in all of our mouths and immediately ruined the good experiences we had prior. Why would you walk around and let us receive more bread without telling us you suddenly decided to charge? The waitress was great and this is not a reflection on her, but I am very disappointed the restaurant charged us for this without informing us at any point prior to paying that there would be an extra fee. It feels very sneaky, disingenuous, and downright shameful for a restaurant to treat customers this way. We would not have minded ordering less bread or paying if we were told at any point. Having to ask ourselves entirely ruined the experience. Auto gratuity felt even less deserved. The food is great and I’m disappointed to write this since I’ve had previous positive experiences, but this is not how a restaurant should handle such a matter. Gave 2 stars since food is really great.

What a wonderful dining experience! My husband and I were in Dearborn, Michigan from Toledo, Ohio to do some holiday shopping and we stopped at LaShish for dinner and from the moment we stepped out of the car and could smell the grilled meats to the moment we left, very full, we were happy. Our waitress, LV, was friendly, attentive, upbeat, and professional and even made a great suggestion on one of the items we ordered. We had the hummus with lamb and, at LV's suggestion, we got it a little spicy, and it was amazing! The meat was cooked to perfection and that little bit of spice didn't add much heat, but it really added a lot of flavor! The portion was huge for the price, so we just ended up getting half orders of the Greek salad and the Village salad and they were both delicious. The half order is a very substantial full salad....a full order must be enormous! The complimentary fresh from the oven little pita breads were so wonderful and went perfectly with the housemade "salsa" and garlic dip! We liked our food so much, we ended up ordering another hummus and lamb to go and dropped it off at our son's house on the way home. He loved it as well! We highly recommend this wonderful restaurant for excellent food, terrific service, and very nice atmosphere. Come hungry and leave full and happy!! We stopped here again while in the area and it was even better this time! We had to get the lamb (spicy) with hummus again, the amazing garlic dip, and wonderful fresh and still warm pita bread. This time we added an order of the lamb grape leaves and a fattoush salad and both were outstanding! Some of the best grape leaves we've ever had and the salad was so fresh and delicious with the most wonderful homemade dressing! The waitress, Amanda, was upbeat, attentive, and so friendly ... she made the experience even more terrific. We will definitely be back again and again!!

Google
I had their shower, my platter with chicken and a side of veggies. I definitely would not return back because I came from Chicago Dearborn thinking that they would be good food. Their food is definitely not Auto. It's just breast meat that was cooked on a skillet, not a shawarma. They have their pocket pita's small ones that they make. They were really fresh and good. Their sauces were just okay. The pita bread that came on the side to make our own sandwiches was very old and all cracked up from the middle. Definitely not coming back if you are in the mood of arab food. This is not the place. Those extra charge for pickles and turnips. However, they were only cucumber pickles only . disappointed overall

A Mediterranean gem that always feels like home I’ve been visiting La Shisf for the past two years, and it’s easily one of the most authentic Mediterranean restaurants I’ve found. The flavors are rich and fresh especially the salad, where the oregano aroma is simply perfect to whet your appetite. Susan, who has helped me on most of my visits, is absolutely wonderful. She’s warm, always smiling, and makes you feel truly welcomed. La Shisf isn’t the fanciest place, but it offers what really matters: quality food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended 100%.

Google
Food and service at La Shish are fantastic! We make it a point to eat dinner here every time we visit Detroit. Some of the things they make taste just like they do in Lebanon. Absolutely delicious. Worth stopping in for a try. The decor makes me giggle. They do their best to decorate for every holiday and do a great job. You just smile when you walk into the place. They truly treat you like family.

Yelp
Had the best dinner here in La Shish, Dearborn. My bf comes here regularly for lunch and brought me to try. It was so good. They start you with a fluffly pita style bread that you dip in a garlic aoili butter or red sauce then a house salad. Loved the fresh and citric flavors in the salad. It had cucumbers and tomatoes and well seasoned. We got the family platter that came with chicken and beef kabobs without the skewers. Almond rice that was spectacular because it mixed with the sauce from the meat. Reminded me of home cooking. Served with veggies such as squash, carrots and peppers. Our waitress was LV, she was super nice and energetic and gave us refills of soda throughout the meal. Oh before I forgot, there is no beer or alcohol here, free parking, right next to a strip club

Yelp
Thanks Radwan for the 5 star service dude you rock. He brought us Hot Puffy Bread, Toum Garlic Sauce and a delicious red sauce . Started with a Bowl of Lentils Soup spot on wonderful . She had Chicken Seared Saji that Radwan recommended, OMG so really great. A favorite the Deep Fried Kibbie always hits the mark.I had Armenian Sujuk totally addicted to this, perfection best around town. Didn't get to see Wanda today, she's the long time manager. This Dearborn Classic is a must try, fabulous food and great prices . #lashishdearborn @lashishdearborn #chickensaji #sujuk #lentilssoup #toum #hotbread #kibbe #downriverfriendseat

Yelp
Excellent!! This is the place to come for a Fattoosh! Probably the best in my opinion! Make sure to get the chicken shawarma on top! Delish! Bread and toum (garlic dip) complimentary and was very good! Good atmosphere, service good and the food came out quick! Highly recommend for some Middle Eastern!

Yelp
Food was delicious! Always a generous portion. Service was awesome, it was clean, and a very little wait for food. I was having lunch with a dear friend. We both agreed on our experience with great food and service. Free parking and lots of availability. Our waiter was so engaging and helpful with food choices. The bread and garlic is very tasty and fresh. I never skip it!

Yelp
Really good selections. Price point is still reasonable. Iconic place really considering its history and ownership. Glad to know this one survived.

Yelp
Don't let anyone tell you any different. The al's Shish restaurants are the best. Whenever i go to the Dearborn, Michigan region I stayed east there. This location is comfortable and the service is great. The problem is I want to eat too much as you can see from what i ordered. Epic great taste from the stuffed grapeleaves to the kabobs and the sides

Yelp

Yelp
We picked this place because my Mom was up for going out for her birthday dinner. So we scrambled for a carry out replacement. WE tossed around food ideas and everyone settled on middle eastern. I remembered driving by this place so I figured was worth a try. We ordered a mix of chicken and lamb kabobs, with rice and salad. We were very surprised that we had way more food than we expected and everyone was happy. The meal came with rice and grilled vegetables , plenty of bread. I can say my Mom was very happy with her birthday dinner at home. For the amount of food for 6 adults , it was not expensive. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The soups were disappointing but the meats, rice, and potatoes were all very solid. The hummus and house salad were also good. The portions were huge and the service was very friendly albeit a bit slow.

Yelp
La Shish proved to be a solid lunch option during a recent trip to Dearborn. My husband and I were in the area to run some errands and wanted to grab some delicious Middle Eastern food. The place he first recommended wasn't yet open for lunch (it was before noon), and he had heard from a coworker that La Shish was solid, so we headed on over around 11:30. We were promptly greeted upon walking in by a friendly server, and shown to our pick of tables, handing us menus before he went to grab our drinks. It was hard to decide exactly what I wanted - everything looked delicious! I finally decided on something lighter in a grape leaf wrap and a bowl of the crushed lentil soup, which I told the server when he arrived back with our drinks - Coke for my husband and a Diet for me. He also brought us a basket of the freshest, hottest pita breads, along with a tasty garlic spread. The soup came out first, and the bowl was a generous size. Flavors and consistency were just right, and I found myself finishing every last drop. My grape leaf wrap was very good - I didn't finish it all, mostly because I had really overdone it on the fresh pita bread. But I was able to take the leftovers home and enjoy it a bit later. When the craving for Middle Eastern food hits you in the Dearborn area, I can now second the recommendation for La Shish as a solid choice.

Yelp
Went here with a group, and everyone was happy when we left. The service was exceptional: I was quickly united with my group, we were frequently checked on , and food came quickly. All the orders were fabulous: lamb chops were cooked as ordered, pita was served warm, salads crispy, kabobs perfectly seasoned. Even the rice was memorable. I was told this was the best Mediterranean restaurant in Dearborn -- and that is saying something-- and I could not agree more with that sentiment! Top per thins off with perfect sweets at the end....

Yelp
Everything is worse now for some reason. Service is very slow, it is not like they have lines out the door. Why the hell they cook so slow. Bread and rice taste different than before. Only thing consistent is garlic paste. They maybe changed owner or cook. Disappointed

Yelp
We had a nice meal here with old friends from Detroit. We all regretted the lack of alcoholic beverages but the mixed smoothie (called Sweet Breeze) was refreshing and delicious. We enjoyed hot pitas that came to the table with toum, a garlic spread, that we got a second round and I resolved to learn to make it myself (hopefully for the dinner party we are hosting next week). Hummus for the table was fine, but the biggest hit among the appetizers was tomato kibbee. Most of three of our party had the lamb shish kebab, and that meat was well flavored, but I had the salmon instead which came just cooked enough and flavorful. The rice that came with these mains was nicely done. Our friend Barbara has tabouleh as her main dish but by the time it arrived (looking oh so fresh and tasty) she was full. We had take-away containers for all of us, leaving well satisfied with our meal.

Yelp
I personally have not been to La Shish a while. However, my cousin was kind enough to have a couple of trays of food sent to me. We had deboned chicken with some mixed grilled veg. There was also rice and salad with house dressing. I thought that pita bread and garlic sauce would have come with it but none was given. Everything was good. I can't say that I was over the moon about anything. Both the chicken and the house dressing could have used more seasoning. The salad itself was deliciously fresh and crisp. The chicken was a little on the dry side but that could be from being in the aluminum pans they were in. One other small concern was that the pieces were not uniform. You had some very small pieces of thigh and also whole debone thighs. It made you feel like something was missing. But all in all, everything was tasty and hit the spot.

Yelp
Food is amazing I've had great Lebanese food before this is also amazing. Our waitress Angela was sweet and let us know the portions were huge gave us takeout boxes in advance treated us like royalty. Literally spoiled us we love her.We went to Sheba Yemen restaurant and they told us to try la shish. It was a hidden gem a great find. We will come back for a yearly tradition.

Yelp
Got the sampler after for 2, it was enough food to feed four hungry people, the staff is friendly and food is amazing! I flew it home to Atlanta from Dearborn in my carry on.

Yelp
We got sat in the back where they kept the dirty dishes, and the place was half empty. We requested no onion at all (and stressed it) onions were included. Their solution.. take them off the plate yet, leaving several large pieces on the plate. Ordered two drinks that we never got. Waitress just peeked in twice. "Everything ok," and off she went. Finished that nasty meal, then sat there for about 10 min waiting for this stupid waitress to take the bill. I finally had to walk to the front to have them ring me up. We eat out a lot, and I've never had this kind of treatment. I will NEVER eat here again, nor will I recommend this place to anyone. This one star is really a zero.

Yelp
Very good food. Amanda was our server today and she was so nice. She smiled the whole time and answered all of our questions! Food is great and flavorful.

Yelp
I won a $50 gift card from a blogger friend and it was expiring this week, so my boyfriend and I stopped by La Shish tonight for dinner. I think a long time ago there was a West Bloomfield location that I went to maybe once, but I had never been to this location before. Everything was delicious and I basically had to stop myself from licking my dinner plate ... The lemon/oregano sauce was perfection. Fresh bread and garlic was already on the table when I arrived. Their bread was very pillowy and tasty, and the garlic was on par with others I have had in the area. We both ordered mango lemonades and they came out to be more of an iced drink and were very good. For my entree, I ordered the Shish Tawook with the lemon oregano sauce (+$1 upcharge), and roasted veggies for my side. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and beef shawarma plate with rice and veggies. Both were delicious. His came with some sort of tahini sauce which I also liked. For dessert, we wanted to order the creme caramel, but they were out of both that and the rice pudding, so we got baklava, which was super tasty. It comes with four medium-sized baklava pieces. Waitservice was also very prompt except we did have to ask for water refills a few times. We had some bread and garlic left over, too, so I asked for a box to go for it and he actually brought me a whole new order of fresh bread, which was great customer service. I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant as well, most of the seating area was booths. They have a lot of pretty holiday lights outside right now too. Overall, I'd give La Shish 4.5/5 stars and would definitely return.

Yelp
The food is ALWAYS good when I come here. Hot and fresh. The deboned chicken with rice. The bread and garlic. Chefs kiss

Yelp
I've been eating at la shish since the 90s. This is one of the OG Mediterranean restaurants in the area. I had to pop in and see if was still as good as it was. I'm happy to report it's still awesome! The service was great. The restaurant is really clean. The pita bread is made and wood fired inside the restaurant. The sad part is the got rid of the Mediterranean chicken wings! Damn son. Everything they do is just a little better than other Mediterranean restaurants in the area. The garlic sauce is a cut above and just more fresh garlicky than other places. The rice is just better with the almonds on top. The deboned chicken is awesome, perfectly cooked. I got mixed white and dark and the white was very juicy. Everything was amazing and exactly like I remembered and service was excellent. Definitely stop by and try one of the OG Mediterranean restaurants in the area.

Yelp
After several visits to La Shish, I really have no complaints! This is a great place for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and you will never leave hungry. At least, I haven't...I have always been stuffed with leftovers to take home! The most recent time I was here I was with my entire family. We ordered the hommus veggie plate to share and the Shish Kabob plate for two with two tabouli salads. The hommus plate itself could feed a small country. It's huge! The kabobs were also delicious - I love the beef. The tabouli salad is fresh and light with a citrus dressing. The staff is super quick, with our waitress tending to us every couple minutes. She was so on top of filling up our drinks, remembering the different drinks each of us had. Overall, great experiences every time! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The food here is great. They seem to do a lot of carry out, which makes sense, because service while dining in is not a strong point. I've been three times now. The first didn't really count because the manager recognized me and gave me incredible service. The second and third times, she was gone so I was stuck with being just any old white person inside La Shish. The server was nice enough but only came to the table a couple times each visit. We had to ask for fresh bread two times before receiving any, right before our dishes arrived. Refills were impossible to come by since the server never came back around. Both times, we had to ask someone else to grab our server so we could get our bill to leave. Prices are decent. Decor is nice. It's very much a family restaurant, so you'll always encounter kids or large parties. Good food. Bad service. I'd venture to guess service would be better if you're Arabic, which I am not.

Yelp
We were doing "Tour of Dearborn" and ordered some food to go from La Shish. We got the following: - Falafel Plate - Shish Kafta with Salad - Chicken Shawarma Plate Salad The food was good. Miss the La Shish chains that used to be all of the places, but definitely would order from here again.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been a regular patron at LaShish for over 15 yrs, coming here from lansing (an hour and 30 minutes away) and i must say the service on my recent visit (today) was absolutely unacceptable, we waited for our food for over 45 minutes and even than we had to prompt the manager to get service. We got our food we asked for a check right away and needless to say i had to wait for my check even after finishing my meal and again had to prompt for it. The whole experience lasted over 2 hrs.

Yelp
I grew up in Michigan ate here 2-3 times a week, I miss it so much I've lived in California 20 years now. Right now I'm on vacation in Dubai and was so excited for Arabic food all week and I have to say I compare everthing to la sish and they fail here on every count. Wanted to send my love to La Sish I miss your cooking whole heartedly . Please send me food to California lol

Yelp

Yelp
The food is always fresh and delicious. Staff is attentive and polite. Never have to ask for refills or extra fresh pita bread . We tried a combination platter which provided both vegetarian and meat grape leaves. Very economical too. Make sure to have a fresh lemonade or juice.

Yelp
Girlfriend taking me out for Birthday lunch...where to go , remember that middle eastern place we went to years ago? Yes let's go there!! Waiter was a nice guy, Sam or something like that, he made a few suggestions we got what he suggested and yum, yum, yum. My breath smells 3 days later...but it was worth it! Food for days...no skimping for them!

Yelp
One of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in the area! Located on Michigan Avenue on the corner of Oakman, La Shish is great for take out or dining in. If you opt to eat in then you'll have the pleasure of taking in the beautiful, royal like decor of the large dining room or there's even patio dining in the spring/summer months. The host staff is always ready to greet and seat you. The wait staff carry on with the same high level of attention and servitude always checking in to see if you're enjoying your meal. And speaking of enjoying your meal -- the food is simply excellent. I happened to have a seat near the open kitchen which allowed me to observe that everything is prepared fresh and cooked to order. The menu has a great selection of appetizers, salads, traditional middle eastern favorites (kabobs, swarms) including vegetarian options. One of my go to meals is the red snapper, a while fish (takes 30 mins to prepare) served with your choice of side along tabbouli, hummus and baba ghanoush. A good accompaniment to any meal is a fresh squeezed raw juice or blended fruit smoothie mixed with banana and honey. And let's not forget dessert. I've been dying to try the red velvet cheesecake but I can never pass on the cream caramel or rice pudding. If you like middle eastern fare, try La Shish and your like will quickly turn to love!

Yelp
Many years ago la shish was my favorite restaurant. So I decided to try LA SHISH but it wasn't the same restaurant I use to go to years ago just the name was the same . Their food was tasty but the service was little slaw . I was disappointed when I didn't see the make the thin bread on site like the old La Shish . I will be back next time I am in town

Charissa O.

Yelp
I have been in awe of La Shish's food, value, ambiance and great customer since my days at Ford Motor. The food and Wanda are the absolute BESTEST she will ALWAYS make it right 30 yrs and counting!......

Yelp
Grabbed a carry out in the way home from work. The Shish tawook entree with lemon oregano was very tasty. The chicken was moist and flavorful with rice and baked bread w/garlic was the absolute best. Their portions are generous. I usually split the entree, bread and soup into at least three meals. You can't beat that at around $20. Give them a try you won't regret it.

Yelp
I drove myself and my family from Minneapolis to go to La Shish and it was even more amazing than when I remembered! We were greeted with a warm smile from a very helpful host and everyone was friendly. As soon as I bit into the warm pita and whipped garlic, time had stood still! I ordered the chicken schwarma and my mom got the beef shish kafta! All of the meat was family style and the flavors were spectacular, you just can't go wrong! I have left overs and pray they will last because this was a very memorable foodie experience that goes down in the books! Please go and support this fine restaurant!

Yelp
Delicious food at great prices!!! The fresh pita was the best I have ever had!! Baked fresh warm and fluffy!!! The platters were great too, and hospitality was wonderful!

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect coming here with a group of colleagues for lunch. I thought, okay just another Mediterranean restaurant, which we ate earlier in the week and we're having Mediterranean AGAIN. There was a big group of us, 15 people. I looked at the menu and it was really hard to decide what to order, especially for vegan/vegetarian options. So I reluctantly (not knowing if I made the right choice) ended up ordering the vegetable ghallabba that substitutes the meat with potato with rice and crushed lentil soup & strawberry mango smoothie. The food took a little bit to get there because of the size of our group, but they did a good job of providing plenty of naan bread with garlic dip (WHICH I LOVE HOW THEY MAKE IT...SOO GOOD!) with tomato dip. The bread was heated in an open oven nearby and it was so good, that I was enjoying the bread and smoothie that I almost didn't care that the food being late. But once my vegetable ghallabba arrived, I was surprised how flavorful and tasty it was! Perfectly flavored without over powering, but with the side of rice it was the perfect balance and great tasting dish. I really liked how they substituted the meat with potato which many other restaurants don't have that on the menu. It's very good and if I were to not ever try it, I could've easily underestimated how good this dish was! It was kinda pricey, but worth it for the quality of food that I had. I might have to compare other vegetable ghallabbas and see if this place tops them all, because it was very good that it's worth coming out here to try again!

Yelp
LaShish has been a longtime favorite. Even after the hiatus in operations, the food is still good. In comparison to how the food is now prepared versus how it used to be the pita bread is the only thing that has changed. I had the Shish Tawook to go. The Mediterranean Salad is the best at this establishment. I don't know what they make the dressing out of but they should seriously market it and sell it at the hostess stand. Rumor has it that the spicy garlic sauce that they serve takes a ton of garlic to make one five gallon bucket. Mmmmmm.... I love this sauce and I'd pay good money for it as well. The chicken kabob is always my favorite. The rice is buttery and a hefty portion of chicken and rice leaves you needing more pita and garlic sauce. It's a racket, I tell ya! But it's so tasty and that is why I rate them well. I've never had a bad experience. Go try them for yourself and yelp back at me!

Yelp
On Saturday we ordered the staple 2 chicken shawarma sandwiches, 1 beef shawarma , a cup of lentil soup and a Greek salad 26.00 take out. I was disappointed in that none of the food had any seasoning. The chicken was bland, and the soup needed Salt. I love middle eastern food for the grilled spices. I don't know if they have a new cook

Yelp
Thank goodness the food is delicious. I walked in and wasn't acknowledged by any of the 5 people around the front counter. After a while, I had to announce myself and request my order. I don't know which is worse: to be followed around an establishment as if I'm going to steal something or bring ignored when I need help! I am a black woman and I'm sick and tired of some unsympathetic/unempathetic businesses treating blacks either with indifference or contempt. As nation of immigrants, we still have a long way to go. This is not my first negative (seemingly racial) experience with La Shish but I still patronize trying to give the benefit of the doubt given my sensitivity over certain issues. This time, in the current political climate around equal treatment, I felt compelled to say something in the hopes that this will be my last negative experience here so it won't be my last visit here.

Yelp
Came here to La Shish and honestly it's very nice place but the service was not on point. We waited for a server to take our order and he never kept checking on us. The best item that we enjoy were the Wings. Although they were lollipop wings they lacked meat on there. The sauce was openpit which was really good. We also had the Tomato Kibbie and it was that good to be honest. We felt it wasn't fresh . The garlic and bread were probably the best part of the meal.
