Great authentic gelato with real fresh cream. The pistachio is average for this range of Gelateria! Coffee was good also. The young guy who worked there was very friendly, but that elder woman with grey hair and makeup was literally scolding him for putting too much ice cream for us, and then when he challenged her and measured it, it was literally 10grams extra!!!! LIKE SERIOUSLY?!? what a bad reputation for your business is to hire a woman scolding publicly a nice friendly staff guy for putting 10 grams extra gelato to a new customer!!! 🤦🏻🤌 “And your reply definitely proves that you are so egoistic and bragging with your overrated reviews, yet cannot accept even a 3 stars review that is actually giving a compliment about your place but at the same time commenting about a rude employee!! Makes me wonder then what should be a Google Maps review about, other than admiring your place with a 5⭐️😂”

Delicious and super creamy ice cream! For 4e you have the medium size and up to 3 flavors. I took the 3 creams of the house (ome with hazelnuts, another one with almonds, and the last with pine nuts). All 3 were really good. There is clean toilets and they also serve coffee and other specialties.

After falling in love with Dolce Emma 3 days into my 2 week vacation the bar was set for good gelato. This was the 1st time I ever had fig gelato but I was hooked. I spent the next 2 weeks searching for gelato that could top this creamy blend of fig, honey, and lemon. I found other places that have fig but La Sorbetteria is the winner for me.

If you like gelato you must try. One of the places in the heart of Bologna that you must visit during your stay. It is located in the old part of the center. Wonderful people who run this place... Great experts in the business they are engaged in, they have been doing business as a family for 25 years and some of them for over 40 years and keep the tradition... This is a wonderful story about a family and their joint business and a to a successful story with the best possible quality, because only if you do it that way can you preserve the tradition... Thank you for your hospitality...

Google
Simply the best ice cream in Bologna. Fresh selected ingredients. All tastes are very good but coconut, coffee and mango are something unique. Sometimes I skip the traditional lunch for their focaccia with gelato.

Google
I find it difficult to give any gelato shop less than 4 stars but I believe Sorbetteria Castiglione is overrated. We tried dark chocolate & mocha gelato in brioche and the bread was dry (unforgivable since that's what they're known for) and the gelato not flavorful. So many other good gelato shops in Bologna (such as Cremeria Marconi), I recommend skipping this one.

Google
Amazing ice cream. I had the crema Guglielmo in a "baby" serving and the combination of marscapone, cacao, and coffee was divine!

Google
Really nice and tasty gelato even though you can’t see the flavors as in other gelateria shops. We went there almost every afternoon when we were in bologna. Many locals also go here so it’s a sign of quality :) Besides from ice creams, they also offer juice and coffee which we have tried and they were really good as well as small pastries. They also have seatings inside and outside so you would always find a spot. Tip: You need to order and pay for the ice cream first, then you go over to the other counter and tell them which flavors. That was quite confusing for us in our first time there, but the staff is also friendly so there was no problem.

Yelp
This sorbetteria has been here since 1994. I could taste the experience in the single flavors or the composed combination flavors. The Ciocolato fondante is a dark bitter chocolate that should be a jump start to everyone's day. The chocolate is strong and incredibly smooth. The pistachio is true to the nut. It has a natural color so don't expect a bright green. The Dolce Emma made of Ricotta cream and fig caramelized in honey and lemon was my ABSOLUTE favorite. All the patrons that come in are mesmerized by the list of flavors. There is a lot to read. They offer gluten free, lactose free, sugar free and vegan options (!). Definitely a gelateria that you need to visit while in Bologna. The service was great! The staff member was really nice to allow me a taste of several flavors before I made my choice. Gelato taste: 4.5 stars Service: 5 stars...my server spoke some English Ambiance: 5 stars (a beautiful shop and outdoor seating too)

Yelp
Nom nom nom. What a great spot. Huge portions and great prices. Tried strawberry, pistachio and chocolate hazelnut. Each one was the best gelato flavor of its kind I've had. Impeccable. Wish I lived in this city. Will be back before I leave

Deb A.

Yelp
The gelato was so creamy.i especially enjoyed the pistachio and the hazelnut gelato. They're as close in taste as the ones I had in Italy.

Yelp
OMG. Top three gelatos during my 5 city tour of Italy, with the other two being in Bologna as well (Cremeria Cavour and Cremeria Funivia). I got three flavors - the melone and yogurt as those are basics for comparing to other places, and the Crema Michelangelo. The Crema Michelangelo was by far the stand out with its almond-chocolate combo. Perfect combination - the almonds really shine through with a background of chocolate. This is a trademarked flavor people!!! So many flavors there, so little time. I'm wondering why I didn't get the Crema Ludivico since nut bases are my favorite. Still dreaming about this place and feeling so full of regret for not getting the Ludivico.

Yelp
Still my fav gelato in Bologna, though so many great places! Love the traditional Italian flavors here like Cream de Limone e Vanilla and Mascarpone del Capo. They're all amazing. Or get the gelato sandwich. Just drool now as you check out these pics...

Yelp
Two weeks in Italy and we ate a lot of great gelato. La Sorbetteria was hands down the BEST!!!! They have some unique flavors and we ordered a stunning combination of Crema Michelangelo, Crema Ludovico, Cremino Guglielmo. Creamy smooth and absolutely delicious! It was so good that we returned at the end of the day to order it again. The only difference was the first time we had it on a cone, and the second on the bun - don't pass up the yummy bread! Our only regret is that we only had one day in Bologna, otherwise we would have come here again and again.

Roxanne G.

Yelp
This is the best gelato I've had in Italy. I got strachiotella (spelling?) and salted caramel and it was rich, creamy, and delicious, with a huge dark chocolate chip. Unlike most places where the cone is inedible, this one also tasted light and good. I also tasted the ricotta and fig gelato. While it was too much fig for a whole serving for me, it was a delight to taste such a unique flavor.

Tim C.

Yelp
This is both my wife and I's favorite gelateria in Bologna. The flavors are made to near perfection, and they have some nice combinations to offer as well. The prices aren't extravagant, either. We've tried a handful of flavors here, and they've all been good. My favorite is still the pistachio.

Jeff O.

Yelp
Outstanding. I'm not really a gelato person BUT it's the best I've ever had. The flavors take such essence of the subject, without being too sweet. It's kind of stupid even to talk about the subtleties because the overall flavor is just so great. The chocolate was intense. Essentially like cold, silk fudge. Crazy. The neighborhood is really nice. Lots of local, charming shops around and it's quiet and cool around there. If I were to visit again, I would aim to stay in this area.

Eli G.

Yelp
Very good but not as good as Cremeria Funivia. http://www.yelp.com/biz/cremeria-funivia-bologna I would not be mad if you took me here though.

Yelp
Good gelato but not the best I have had in Europe - the texture is a bit more mushy/melted/wet than other gelato I have had throughout my travels. Additionally, while they offer a seemingly large selection of flavors, I found myself only desiring one. The flavors were a bit too fancy for my - I like simple but well done. The main thing to know about this venue is that you must order at the cash register first. Once you have ordered, you will be issued a ticket which you will then hand to the person who is scooping up the gelato. This is typical for gelato places throughout Europe, however, if you've not been, this is a very valuable and important piece of information to know.

Cyrus R.

Yelp
The gelato here is outstanding and definitely some of the best we've tried throughout all of Italy thus far. The gelato is creamier, smoother and generally more silky in flavor than your regular gelato elsewhere, and it's a type of gelato definitely worth trying in that respect. The flavors are diverse and a refreshing break away from your regular stracciatele or caffe. For us, it was the pistachio and candied hazelnut flavors that we really had a soft spot for, but of course to each their own. One of the reasons I give it 4 stars instead of 5, though, is that the ordering process itself wasn't all too straightforward and it seems like they only do it in a cone. For one that enjoys his gelato in a cup personally, I'd have loved to at least have the option (though the cone itself turned out to be pretty crunchy and delicious too). Other than that, expect awesome gelato that will really blow others away

Yelp
I'll begin by saying that I've only given one other 5* rating on yelp and that was at a restaurant by the name of Mama's Fish House in Maui, HI. La Sorbetteria had the silkiest and most indulgent gelato that I've had in my short life. It took me a while to find this place since its north west of town center and I obviously do not speak Italian well. Once I found it, the time was around 09:00 AM on a Sunday and the shop owners were inside welcoming everyone. I ordered the dark chocolate and pistachio and it sent me into a state of transcendence. I have a weakness for sugar, unfortunately that has taken a toll on my body. I've had many fantastic confectionaries in Europe but this simplistic approach of doing something well is taken at La Sorbetteria. You will forever hold the title as the best gelato I've ever had. Thank you for this experience.

Yelp
Bologna has its fair share of gelato shops, and I tried many of them during my few days there. After extensive research and sampling, La Sorbeterria was my favorite - very rich and genuine flavors.

Wakako U.

Yelp
Brett took me here when we were in Bologna. It is my favorite gelato in the whole world!!!!!!!!!!!!! The emma flavor is the best I've ever had - ricotta cream, dried fig and honey.

Skippy L.

Yelp
I ordered one scoop of the Dolce Emma flavor and one of Hazelnut. I thought the flavor of Dolce Emma sounded really interesting but I was not really a fan, but the hazelnut was really good. At 2.60 for a small, I am not sure I would return seeing as it wasnt the best gelato I have had in Bologna, but it was certainly not bad.

Magdalena G.

Yelp
We all know that Italian ice cream is the best, but gelato here is amaaaazing!! The tastes have been carefully developed throughout the years (you can check the actual dates by the counter) and they're deliciuos. What's interesting is the use of traditional... cheeses! Ricotta, mascarpone are delightfully mixed toghether with candied nuts, fruits, grape juice or fig cream. Absolutely recommended!

Meeri K.

Yelp
Excellent gelato! Different texture then any other I've had. It's a little out if the way, but definitely worth the walk. Good price for great quality!

Ralph K.

Yelp
This is one of the best gelaterias ever. It was so delicious. I had the salted caramel - the texture was spot on. And the portion for the piccolo was generous. A little off the beaten path, but take the detour!

S R.

Yelp
Fabulous gelato. A must visit Bologna. One of the best gelatteria's we've been to.

P J.

Yelp
This was one of the better gelaterias in town. They have a lot of different gelatos and sorbets. There was also a little seating area inside and outside. We had both gelato and a coffee while we were here and both delicious. Definitely worth a stop!

Elaine L.

Yelp
Yum! one of the better gelatos I had in all of Italy. I love the cone and the cookie on top!

Hae A.

Yelp
One of my favorite gelaterias in Italy. Love the flavor combinations and the fruit flavors. They didn't give me the option of cup or cone and just gave me a cone with a waffle circle on top. I thought the waffle circle was tasty.

Dennis P.

Yelp
Lovely place for (Italian) ice cream. The place is supposed to exist since 1994. We had 4 different flavours and all of them were equally good. The price was also reasonable. Highly recommended!

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
I spent an entire month in Italy, had gelato at least once a day - from Venice, to Bologna, to Florence, to Fermo. And I have to say, this place was my favorite. I still think about it from time to time. Someone please take me back! It`s a good thing they have their name printed on the cones, which I took a photo of, otherwise, I would`ve had a lot more trouble remembering what this place was called.

Annette L.

Yelp
Simply amazing! Puts American Ice Cream to shame. My husband and I tried a gelato in multiple places in Bologna and this was our favorite gelato place. It was a 10 minute walk outside center city area but worth it. I ordered the chocolate and it was amazing. I also had pistaccio and the crema catalunya one and they were both awesome. It still amazes me how fresh and how much the flavors come out in a quality gelato.

Melissa M.

Yelp
My favorite gelato in Italy. That last time I was in Bologna (in January), I had La Sorbetteria for lunch twice in one week. In January. That's how good it is. The texture is unbelievable, the flavors utterly delightful. I recommend the dark chocolate and the pistachio - together.

Yelp
Wikipedia calls this icecream shop the reputedly best one in the world. Ok, probably there are better once we thought. But we wanted to give it a try. And it turned out to be a real insider tip. They have small, medium, large and huge portions. We took the small one for EUR 2,20. It turned out to be as much as three medium icecream balls. And besides normal flavours they have lot`s of unusual creations. We found complete almonds, nuts, chocolate pieces etc. Although it is November, permanently new customers came in to order icecream. If you go to Bologna, buy an icecream at the La Sorbetteria Castiglione. It is only a short walk of about 12 to 15 minutes from the two towers, down the Via Castiglione.

Qype User (chodur…)

Yelp
Best gelato I ever tried. I like creamy, thick and sweet flavours so I went for espresso, pistachio (the best), mascarpone, dolce lece in two visits i've made there. The prices are the same as everywhere else: 2 euros for piccolo (2 scoops), 3 euros for 3 scoops and so on, granitas are huge and only 3 euros. Castiglione gelato has organic and natural ingredients. Pistachio is nutty and sweet. It's known to many locals who go there across the town just to eat the ice-cream. There are no tables to sit inside, just few benches inside and outside. The people working there are very friendly and most of them speak English.

Qype User (tripty…)

Yelp
Great ice-cream but note that you have to pay first for a ticket at one desk and then go and choose your ice-cream from the hard-working girls they must get bored explaining this to all the tourists!
