La Spezia was one of my favorite date night restaurants in Kauai. The lasagna was amazing and some of the best lasagna I have ever had. The service and drinks were also delicious, and the atmosphere was cute and quaint.

2025 Returned to La Spezia for a wonderful dinner. Had to order the lasagne again and it was delicious, such a flavorful combination of tastes. The house salad was a good choice. I was pleased that my order for a glass of wine was completed after the service indicated it wasn’t available but the manager located a bottle in the wine storage area. The service was outstanding and the prices reasonable. A hidden gem of a restaurant. 2024 The rating is based upon other Kauai restaurants we have dined. Although we have been vacationing in Kauai for many years, this was our first time at La Spezia. We should have dined here sooner. Our lasagna and fish of the day were very good. I’m a fan of lasagna and this was excellent. We shared a house salad which was a good idea because the main dish was all I could eat. The prices are reasonable. I recommend making a reservation.

I’m not normally one to share my favorite spot, especially not one that’s usually booked pretty far in advance BUT I would be doing the owners an injustice by not sharing my appreciation. Brunch is awesome, the Benny with prosciutto is my go to & husband does the omelette with prosciutto. The dinner is out of this world, out top 3 appetizers are the mozzarella with balsamic glaze (on the smaller size but makes up for it in flavor), the gnocchi (so fresh, soft & flavorful) or the meatballs (4 medium sized meatballs) with a little kick of spice. Main course favorites are the lasagna bolognese, spaghetti bolognese, wagyu hangar steak (duh) or veal scallopini but tbf all of their pasta is out of this world and hands down the best on island. To top it off, they have a million wine pairings and make a mean aperol spritz (bartender is super friendly and awesome too), for how small and cozy it is, their extensive wine list is a solid 3 -4 pages long. Then of course there’s the tiramisu, out of this world. This is a small family run spot, intimate vibes, amazing pasta made from scratch - the staff is awesome and we appreciate all the suggestions, pairings, attention to detail and of course the down to earth & friendly atmosphere. Thank you La Spezia for all that you do, can’t wait to see you again tomorrow!

Food, drink, & service were all amazing. Our server Cathy was so sweet and so was the bartender. I think this was our best meal and dinner experience our entire trip. 10/10 recommend.

It was our last day on Kauai, and we wanted to go out for a special dinner with our group of 8 people, and to celebrate our friend’s birthday. We made reservation the beginning of the week for a Friday night at La Spezia. We arrived about 15 minutes early before our reservation to a packed house, and spent time on the patio waiting for our table, which took very little time. We were directed to our own area by the front window, to a long elevated table that would have seated 10 people, perfect for our group of 8. We were fortunate enough to have Jimmy as our waiter for the evening. Jimmy was awesome, hands down the best service we received on the island. Jimmy was passionate about the restaurant, the menu, the food, and providing above and beyond service to our table, and others. Ask for Jimmy when making reservations, you won’t regret it. Jimmy explained the menu to all of us, detailed the appetizers, told stories of the history of the restaurant, the detailing of the bar area, and woodwork. He helped make the dining an experience. We ordered appetizers for the table, and a couple bottle of wine. Our glasses were kept full, and the food was brought out as though we were the only group in the restaurant, but the place was packed. La Spezia was run like a fine tuned watch. The appetizers were over the top – Piping hot, handmade fresh, and great tasting. We all ordered our dinner entrée and before you knew it, the food was served to our table of 8 all at once. I had the Fettuccine Calabrese, which was Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, fettuccine, and truffle cream, which was probably the best tasting dish I ever had! The portion was enormous, but I couldn’t stop eating it, it was awesome. Everyone in our group raved about their dishes, and everyone left satisfied, full, and satisfied. Jimmy, knowing it was out friend’s birthday, even brought out a birthday cake for her, which then peaked others interest in deserts. Several deserts were served, and dinner was complete. La Spezia Restaurant & Wine Bar is a hand down MUST go to on Kauai. There is a reason this place was rated #1 on the island. Professional, courteous, and friendly employees, along with outstanding food and service make this a 5 star winner! Thank you for the best dining experience!

Oh my god!! The best Italian I have ever had! And we are New Yorkers!!! We were a little hesitant trying some Italian food in hawaii but we were absolutely blown away. The meatballs, the sausage and peppers and the lasagna were amazing!!! We definitely be coming back 10/10

La Spezia in Kauai is a hidden gem! This restaurant serves up homestyle Italian dishes that are bursting with flavor. The house-made pasta is a must-try, and the warm, inviting atmosphere creates a perfect setting for a romantic evening or a delicious celebration. We came here twice on our visit to Kauai and loved it each time. La Spezia offers a taste of Italy in paradise, and I highly recommend it!

Our family like it so much we went twice during our vacation. The first waiter was amazing and the second was a grumpy old man. Not great experience. But the food was amazing both times. Pasta, salads, veal were all great. Good wine selection.

Yelp
Went to celebrate my wife's birthday, this was both our first time dining here. When booking the reservation online they use TableAgent, a third party booking website where they ask if there is an occasion, small children or guest with mobility issues (remember this). Upon checking in we noticed they have limited staffing, but not a deal breaker as it is a small restaurant and when I say small it's small. It's obvious they squeeze in as much tables as they can in their limited space, the tables are close together hovering right on the line of being uncomfortably close. When the staff was tending to the tables next to us we moved our glasses and dishes over to make sure they don't bump into it when leaning over or moving between the tables as you have to turn sideways to maneuver between the tables. Which is why they ask if small children or guests with mobility issues are in your party, good thing we left our toddler son home with his grandma otherwise it would have been really difficult to fit his stroller or a high chair next to our table. Now on to the food, the server did take the time to explain their recipes are legitimate Italian recipes and most of the foods/sauces are made by one person. He did compare their recipes/food and portions to other places which I felt is not necessary, there isn't a need to "bad mouth" other establishments (even if he didn't mention anyone by name) let your service and food do the talking for you. For appetizers we shared the fried zucchini and tortellini and for entree we had chicken toscana and wagyu steak. The food was delicious very tasty and cooked well, definitely no complaints in that department. We had a HI- Fashion and a glass of Ciao Bella to drink, we did not have room for dessert and our bill was just under $150. So here's the critique part of our review Take a little more time to make some personal connection with the patrons. Both of us being local (wife born on Kauai, and husband from Oahu) We like to see if businesses will acknowledge local patrons, which did not happen on this evening actually not once were we asked where we're from. Similarly fancy restaurants on island (as to the island this would be considered fancy) get excited and thankful when they find out we're local as they don't get locals very often, and ask to be shared on social media and by word of mouth (as locals do). This was not a deal breaker as my wife and I are used to people not thinking we're local when we go out to fancy places on island. But it would be a nice gesture to acknowledge local patrons (as my debit card would have given it away as it's a local credit union). The server did say they were kind of busy and short staffed so maybe that'll explain the lack of personal connections being made 3.7% surcharge to use debit/ credit cards: while making the reservation/ and on the menu it's made known there is a surcharge to use a card. When you receive your bill there's a cash total and non cash total (the surcharge). I understand that it costs businesses more to accept and process cards as this isn't a new thing nor is it uncommon to see nowadays but in my opinion for a nice/fancier restaurant it makes the establishment look cheap. This is something I would expect from a BBQ place, a poke place, shave ice place or a establishment where the transaction totals is less than $50 but for a place that's $60-$70+ a person it gives a cheap feeling Going back to them using Table Agent to make reservations, they ask what's the occasion which I put birthday. However not once was that asked or acknowledged during our visit. So it kind of defeats the purpose of asking while making the reservation. But overall we enjoyed ourselves and the food was delicious, we would definitely consider going back for another special occasion.

Yelp
Holy cow! This place was good! Best meal on the island! The food was great, the service was great, atmosphere, everything! You must make a reservation or you won't get a table. It's a small family-owned Italian restaurant reminiscent of places we visited in Italy. The music is soft and the place is crowded, but not loud. Our server, I forgot his name, said he had been a long time customer turned waiter. He took our entire order but spaced each course perfectly, so don't be afraid to order all at once. We had a nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price and started with the charcuterie for two. It had a great assortment - 3 cheeses, 3 meats, olives, olive tapenade, mustard, caper berries, artichokes, pickled onions (two types), pepperoncini, roasted garlic and toasted bread drenched in olive oil. It was more than enough for two people. For entrees, my husband had the Spaghetti Arrabbiata. The sauce was perfect, rich tomato flavor with just the right amount of spice and vegetables throughout. I had the gnocchi appetizer, which me, it was enough after the charcuterie. The man at the next table also ordered it for an entree as a double portion. It changes daily and for this day it was in a lemon cream sauce. Loved it and I'm not usually a cream sauce kinda gal. We got the Tiramisu to share for dessert. Very nice ending to a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Great food and great service. We sat at the bar and had the lasagna (awesome) and spaghetti and meatballs (also awesome). The waiter and our bartender were super nice to me and my boys, and we had a great experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Came here twice during our week stay in Koloa, making reservations through open table a week in advance, each time at 5pm on Monday and Wednesday. Foccacia flat bread was OK, but not heated. Wife's $35 Vongole was a seafood pasta in a broth soup. Not sure why anyone would order this, when the regular seafood pasta comes without the broth, but with the marinara sauce. About 5 shrimp, 5 clams and 5 mussels with spaghetti noodle egg pasta, without the marinara sauce. My $35 oxtail paparadelle was egg noodles in olive oil, with shavings from oxtail. Tender, juicy, melt off the bone oxtail, with no fat and no gristle, and no bones to contend with. Absolutely fabulous. Second visit, wife had the $43 opa fish, a white fish soaked in lemon butter for flavor, over potatoes and vegetables. Portion size about 6 ounces. Decent, but pricey for the portion size, as this is not salmon. In March 2024, this fish was $39. Second visit, I had the $29 sausage and pepper dish. Ordered zucchini noodles, but apparently they were out, and got numerous strips of cooked zucchini instead, mixed with bell peppers and sliced sausage, instead of ground sausage. The combination worked well however, and finished everything down to the last drop. Next time will have to try the oxtail with zucchini noodles. Both visits wife got the chair closest to the window, which was off center due to a sagging floor.

Yelp
La Spezia was a very special night on our prior trip to Kauai - the meal, service, ambience - everything landed perfectly. This visit was a little bit different, but the food held up and the evening ended well. The main difference was that we remembered La Spezia as a quiet, dimly lit, intimate space, and the restaurant we walked into on this visit was bright and poppin'. I was happy to see it as popular as it should be! Even though there were several two-tops available, we were placed in the very back near a service station and the restroom. We asked to be moved and ended up in the center of the restaurant; this also meant a server change, but our prior server was kind enough to hunt us down and razz us a little for leaving him. Short rib ravioli - one of my few divergences from seafood on the trip, and completely worth it. One of those dishes where you are sopping up all the liquid on the plate because it was that good. Vongole e Gamberetti - We were warned that this was a soupier seafood pasta; it was, and it was also incredible. As the evening wore on, we enjoyed talking to the different servers and even showed them a photo of a table from our visit 10 years ago with a nice quote burned into it. They said it was still in the restaurant somewhere - hope to catch it next time.

Yelp
Yum yum yum great food and great service. I wish I could eat there every night... the pasta and clams was amazing and the broth the pasta was smothered in was spectacular! Also I usually don't like cheesecake but their's had a citrus taste that was delicious !

Cara C.

Yelp
Everything from our appetizers, the flatbread and gnocchi, to our entrees, oxtail pappardelle and chicken fettuccine were delicious! The pasta portions were also very generous. Our server Kathy was so sweet and attentive as well! Would definitely come back next time on Kauai.

Jeff A.

Yelp
If you read the reviews, most people are thrilled, but some people aren't. Every place I go, I search for the best Italian food. This place is pretty good. The food is way above average I would say. Make reservations. This place is popular. Don't even bother trying to walk in. Even with reservations, it may be a bit of a wait for them to set up a table. The front of the house is definitely understaffed. However, I would rather have mishaps at the front of the house rather than the back of the house. The food really is pretty special. They will bring you one complementary plate of house made focaccia which is excellent. Additional plates are $3 (small) or $6 (large). You will probably end up needing more bread, and the price is well worth it. The daily changing Gocchi ($17) is worth it. Its more of an appetizer portion. Definitely get one for the table to try. The Mozzarella Fresca ($16) is unbelievable. Never had anything like it. Its fresh mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto, and backed with a fig-port reduction. Absolutely incredible. I wish we could have tried one of the real pasta dishes, but we ended up getting the Vongole e Gamberetti ($35) which is like a seafood soup with spaghetti. It was really good. They say all their pastas are freshly made in house. Some of the comments say they are later frozen or refrigerated. This may be true, but the only way to tell would be to get one of the wide noodle pasta dishes to see how it compares with places I've been to that have fresh pasta. Ideally the pappardelle, but the fettuccine would also suffice. For desert we got the Panna Cotta ($12) which was amazing. The texture was incredible. A lot firmer that what I'm used to and it was really good. The server was young and inexperienced. This is why I'm dropping the rating down to 4 stars because 4.5 isn't an option.

Ambika S.

Yelp
It's an okay place, my husband had ravioli and i got onion pepper penne.. nothing great, ingredients seemed fresh though but flavors were just okay. the salted caramel pannacota was definitely outstanding.

Jillian G.

Yelp
Another top notch experience at La Spezia. Shoutout to Jimmy, our excellent and friendly waiter, who was super accommodating. All the food was just as good as we remembered. Water service was top notch with constant refills. The ambiance is as cute as always. Parking was plentiful. Reservations are a must given the small size of the restaurant.

Julie B.

Yelp
We are only here for 8 nights and ate here twice because it's was sooo delicious . The potions are very generous and can easily be split for sharing. Our food came out freshly made and hot. The waiters are friendly and efficient, even when very busy. The building is eclectic and fun. When we return to Kaua'i hopefully soon we will be back and also recommend others of this super place

Stacey A.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast food. Two of us had the frittata which were very good. The bride and bacon French toast was very good as well.

ROBERT K.

Yelp
Excellent fresh, super food. Excellent service, Cathy made us feel like family. My wife Lys, and I, Rob, had an amazing experience!

Yelp
Stopped by here Wednesday night to celebrate my daughter's 19th bday. I had reservations. The place is small, but cute. Very nice inside. The appetizers and food was good! I did take 2 stars away, because my waitress wasn't to attentive to our table, I hardly seen her. That was disappointing, then a waiter tried to help out and pour me water, but he accidentally spilled my glass of cold water all of me. Which he did apologize. But at the end when I cashed out with my waitress, she tried to make a joke about me spilling my own water on myself. Which i didn't find to funny. Not only that, I did expect some kind of discount for the inconvenience of walking out of the restaurant, fully wet from my waist down. But nothing.

Kerra S.

Yelp
Ordered through DoorDash and the bolognese was to die for. I'll be dining in person soon and will leave an updated review. Truly at a loss for words with how impressed I was with the meal. Bonus points because they provided rolls and butter free of charge!

Jerad A.

Yelp
Loved this place and had a wonderful experience! The staff was personable, helpful, attentive, and fun. The food was OUTSTANDING. A variety of rich flavors. Nothing subtle about it. Very cool vibe and wasn't overcrowded when we were there. Relaxed. It was fancy without being intimidating or snooty. It's definitely not cheap, but it was worth it for us. Plenty of parking and it's in a really charming old area. This was, by far, the most memorable meal of our week-long trip.

Chrissy F.

Yelp
First off the food is fantastic hence the 3 star review. Service left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I felt the server was rude and condescending. I will give four examples: 1. I asked for a straw for my soda. The remark was well their metal, I said okay and he said alright and came back and said don't stab yourself. Seemed annoyed. 2. Seemed annoyed when we asked him what the daily dish was after he told us. Made a comment while talking about about my children which was off putting while telling us the specials. 3. Asked if he preferred the veal to the gnocchi and he only commented about the size of the dishes. 4. And this is what almost made me talk back. After he told us the desserts I asked what flavors of gelato do you have (thought I had seen online that they had gelato) made a comment "I didn't say we had gelato" in a very rude tone. Totally through us all off, he left came back with the check and I said we'd like dessert. He stated didn't think you wanted dessert after I told you we didn't have gelato. The rest of our visit was just awkward and he seemed annoyed and wanted us to leave. Come for the food but don't come with kids.

Sam F.

Yelp
Walked into an empty restaurant on a Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM to be told they have no availability. What a joke of service. ETA: We sat and watched the restaurant for 15 mins and not one person entered. They definitely discriminated against us because we have kids.

Joan B.

Yelp
This is our second time here. It was hard to get a reservation so book early. We really like the coziness and family feel of this Koloa restaurant. We had the same server as last time and he can sell ice to Eskimos. He's a kick. All the entrees are very good and make sure to order the tiramisu. Its better than some I had in Italy.

Wendy D.

Yelp
This place is really good! This is what my 15 year old daughter said. I was really excited because I am gluten free and they had a gluten free zuchinni pasta which was delightfully tasty. Our server was very nice, fun and well informed about gluten free food. Thanks you for a delightful evening for the whole family.

Stacy S.

Yelp
One of my favorite meals during our two weeks on Kauai. The two of us were able to get a table near the bar on a Friday night, which was lucky because the place was packed. We had the fried zucchini to start, and the tortellini for our pasta. We appreciated the appetizer sized portion of the pasta. He had the lamb, and I had the fish special, which was Mahi Mahi. The fish was seriously one of the best... and by the time we got to La Spezia, this was at least the 6th time I ordered a fish entree. It was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and just delicious.

Scott I.

Yelp
Another review where my order was god awful and everyone else's good - I had the absolutely awful short rib ravioli and a not good Caesar salad again the plates were passed. Everyone agreed with me on this one. The waiter came and picked it up and took it away. I was offered another dish which was kindly declined. It just gets too late when you're sitting around at dinner and everybody else is done I don't wanna order something at that point. A common problem in Kauai seems to be the white wine comes out at about 68° and needs to be further chilled

Amanda K.

Yelp
Highly recommend and a favorite spot in Kauai for Italian. Being from New York and knowing good Italian food, this was some of the best I think I've had outside of NY! Great ambiance, service, and tasty food. You can't go wrong and we'll be back on our next trip!

Debbie B.

Yelp
This restaurant had great reviews so we thought we would try it. Sat at the bar. Hostess seemed bothered by our change from table to bar seat. Definitely didn't welcome us with a smile. Ordered a Cosmo to start- smallest glass I have ever been served a martini in. Seemed a sample size. Bartender had one shake for his martinis. We ordered Caesar salad - it was delicious. Then short rib ravioli- also very tasty. The servers can make or break an evening and they made NO attempt to make our evening. Would Not recommend due to lack of energy or smiles from staff.

Ellen H.

Yelp
Food was delicious and splendid Steak was cook just right Ox tail Pasta was freshly made Sauce for the ravioli was remarkable Caesar salad had just enough sauce and cheese made it just right Service was excellent Ambiance was Italian casual Great selection on their wine Dessert was unique and a must try There lemon cheesecake was homemade and unique The pana cotta jello like dessert was the best out of all the selections a definitely must try A very authentic Italian restaurant Tip : try making a reservation ahead of time, they tend to get super busy We got lucky that some one didn't show up for there reservation and we got squeeze in for the night If you visit the island this place is a must try. You will not regret!!!

Jim D.

Yelp
Vacationed in Kauai in late June/early July and I've been meaning to write a review for this absolutely fantastic restaurant. After dining Hawaiian style for a few days, we needed something other than Hawaiian cuisine. Thought we were taking a risk making a reservation for an Italian restaurant in Kauai. Being a NY Italian/American and having been to Italy three times, we had trust issues. My wife and I both growing up Sunday sauce, etc. You know... how good could it be? Italian cuisine but in Hawaii? It was fantastic from start to finish. Focaccia! So good! We had a charcuterie board that would rival anything I've had in NY or even Italy. So good! I ordered one for the following day to be enjoyed at our hotel before dinner the next night. Wonderful wine offerings, we ordered a great Chianti. The service was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. Entrees all authentic, well prepared, fresh ingredients. Should have done this review much much earlier. When back in Kauai, we're coming back! Grazie ! Maholo! And sorry for my NY bias, learned a valuable lesson, great Italian food in Hawaii!

Tammy M.

Yelp
Food was excellent! My husband had the Spaghetti with the Arrabbiata sauce and I had the 3 cheese tortellini. We also ordered Caesar salad. Everything was so good!! It is a cute small Italian restaurant with very friendly staff!! Great find on Kauai! We will definitely be back!

Pam R.

Yelp
The food is always great here. The service is hit or miss and this was one of those times. A big miss! We had a reservation. And were delayed 15 minutes after sitting. Then waited another 25 before any acknowledgment. It's not that big of a place so it's a shame. No apologies no effort. Excuses. Can recommend it but at your discretion. Did I say the food was great?

Judy T.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant with excellent ambiance and customer service. This place is a gem! I also highly recommend reservations. For the quality of food, the prices are definitely reasonable and the food was delicious. We were traveling from LA and were looking for a sit down restaurant and made last minute reservations. The only available time was later and we arrived earlier just to see if they could seat us earlier. The staff made an honest effort. They seated us on time in the end but at least it wasn't late. The waiter gave good recommendations for the oxtail pasta and their focaccia bread at the beginning was very fresh. I tried their lasagna and it was very thin, the shape was more authentic. It was tasty and filling. My partner got the tortellini which is appetizer size. It was creamy and delicious with a smaller portion. This would be a good restaurant to share a bottle of wine and relax. Ambiance was dimly lit with candles.

Donna C.

Yelp
Solid Italian food downtown Koloa. Make a reservation! Cute place with a bar and dining area. Not terribly large so make that rez. Waitress was friendly and on top of her game. Complementary focaccia and oil was good. We got 2 apps - seasonal veggies were green beans and they were prepared in a way that we couldn't put our finger on but they were yummy. But the fried zucchini was AMAZING. Def get this one. Means: spaghetti & meatballs, solid but nothing to write home about, Sausage and peppers with penne was also solid, the portion was large. Oxtail was the gem, really great flavor. Finally, the gnocchi was in a cream sauce, really great texture. It only comes as an app size, so for a meal they offer 2x size.

Eleanor E.

Yelp
Make sure you have reservations. We went on Thursday at 5:00. We were seated right away! The waiter was friendly and helpful! Our waters were kept full. The drinks and wine were wonderful. We started with their bread (amazing) also had the olives and the house salad. We shared the salad and it was large enough for two. My husband had the peppers and sausage, it came in a wonderful sauce with pesto and ziti pasta. He loved it. My daughter and son-in-law shared the lasagna and tortellini. The lasagna was no doubt one of the best we have ever tasted. I had the spaghetti boulanaise there was enough for two people. It was very tasty. I recommend you try this place. They care that you are satisfied.

Yelp
Hold onto your taste buds, folks, because our dining experience at La Spezia was an absolute flavor rollercoaster that left us craving for more! We had made a reservation, and boy, are we glad we did because this place is a hidden gem ready to satisfy your culinary cravings. The food at La Spezia was so fabulous it should come with a warning sign: "Caution: May induce uncontrollable foodie euphoria!" Our journey began with the fried zucchini, which were like little pieces of crispy heaven. We found ourselves popping them like potato chips, unable to resist their addictive crunch. Next up, the seafood pasta. Oh boy, this dish was like a delicious underwater symphony. The perfectly cooked al dente pasta mingled harmoniously with the fresh, succulent seafood, creating a melody of flavors that had us singing praises between each bite. But wait, the lasagna! Brace yourselves for a taste explosion that will make you weak in the knees. Layer upon layer of cheesy goodness, rich tomato sauce, and a whole lot of love went into this comforting masterpiece. It was like a warm, cheesy hug from an Italian nonna who knows the secret to winning hearts through the stomach. And the grand finale? Tiramisu, the dessert of legends. We took one spoonful and suddenly felt like we were floating on cloud nine. The delicate balance of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone was so divine, we couldn't resist the temptation to order not one, but TWO for takeout the next day. Yes, we fully embraced our inner dessert monsters! The service at La Spezia was top-notch, with a friendly and attentive staff that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. They added the perfect sprinkle of hospitality to this delectable feast. In conclusion, La Spezia is a foodie's paradise that will take your taste buds on a wild and delightful ride. The fabulous food, including the addictive fried zucchini, seafood pasta symphony, and lasagna love affair, paired with the irresistible tiramisu, made this adventure one for the books. So gather your fellow food explorers, make a reservation, and get ready to embark on a flavor-filled journey that will leave you begging for an encore. Note: Individual experiences may vary, but based on our unforgettable escapade, we wholeheartedly recommend diving into the fried zucchini, seafood pasta, and of course, the heavenly tiramisu at La Spezia. Bon appétit!

Yelp
Been coming to La Spezia for three years now and I still love it. The Caesar salad ($11) is still my go to starter. It consists of romaine lettuce, creamy caesar dressing, and house made croutons. I have had the Melanzane All Parmigiana ($20), Arrabbiata Spaghetti ($19), Tortellini ($15), Nonna's Lasagna ($21), Vongole e Gamberetti ($29), Seasonal Vegetables ($8), and Gnocchi ($15). Unlike some restaurants where you have a favorite and regret trying something new, I have never regretted trying anything new. Everything is so delicious. Also one of my favorite things is the complimentary focaccia bread. I could eat just that and be so happy. The staff is very nice and I have always felt welcome. Overall a lovely place to have dinner.

Lois T.

Yelp
La Spezia Restaurant serves amazing Italian cuisine. The restaurant is cozy and romantic. We celebrated our wedding dinner by starting with their delicious Caesar Salad. We each ordered a different pasta entree and everyone loved their delicious lasagna, fettuccine, spaghetti... yum! The service was fantastic and attentive to our needs and made our day extra special.

Yelp
Stopped here for quick meal and had some good Italian food, their wine collection is amazing. Ambiance and service is also good.

Yelp
The food and service is amazing. We ordered a charcuterie board for 2 as an appetizer - incredible! Enough really for four, the spread of meats cheeses, and especially the vegetables was varied, plentiful and delicious. Then for dinner we ordered a lasagna that was perhaps the most delightful and delicious that I've had. An order was more than enough for two. With a bottle of Valpolicella it was like being in Italy. Our waiter, Jimmy, made sure that the lasagna did not arrive too soon so that we could savor the flavors of the charcuterie board. If you ever finding yourself on Kaua'i, stop here and treat yourself to a vacation from your vacation.

Yelp
Excellent food with top notch service. Every item we ordered was delicious. We had focaccia for an appetizer and my wife had the house salad and gnocchi. I had the Wagyu Hangar steak which was phenomenal. One of the best cuts of steak I've ever had. I would come here again and again.

Yelp
Busy, fun atmosphere. We didn't have a reservation, but they had a spot for us. Food was amazing, service was friendly and attentive. We tried the tortellini and the fettucine calabrese, both stellar.

Yelp
Went there last week and while the food was very good, the service was not. First, I think the hostess was having a rough day because abuse she was very abrupt and not welcoming at all. Second, the waiter was ok but the whole meal felt quite rushed. It's a busy place and it's quite loud so keep that in mind. You also need reservations. We will be back because of the food but I sure hope the service is better.

Yelp
Not a genuine Italian Restaurant the menu is missing Italian appetizers such Bruschetta, Capresi salad , Fish or Meat Carpaccio etc.... The pasta dishes need more attention and a better presentation. Everything else are just OK

Yelp
for an Italian restaurant the appetizers are missing Such as Bruschetta , Capresi salad, Fish or Meat Carpaccio, Cold Cuts.... The pasta dishes should to be revisited to improve taste and presentation Everything else seems ok

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner at La Spezia. The tortellini was amazing. Catch of the day & cheeses were good. The server was very kind in explaining everything and offering recommendations.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner at La Spezia! My husband has to eat gluten free and was able to have a great dinner here. The waitress was very knowledgeable about what my husband could eat. Salads were great, I had the gnocchi and my husband had the bolognese with zucchini noodles and both were super yummy. It was a bit loud in the restaurant, but we were still able to carry conversation.

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal - highly recommend. We had the daily special tortellini to start - fantastic and the veal scallopini - also excellent. Our server Gabe did an amazing job.

Yelp
The staff was very nice! The place has a really cute home vibe and we really liked it. My dish, ravioli, came out a bit lukewarm and later then others seated aster is 3 stars because the salad was so sour it couldn't be eaten. We both couldn't eat it due to the dressing.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about La Spezia: we read all the reviews and we're excited to try this place. We made reservations for 5pm. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer as soon as we sat down. Drinks arrived a few minutes later, but no appetizer. About 20 minutes later, we placed our dinner order: my wife ordered the wagu steak dinner, I ordered the clams & shrimp linguine and asparagus vegetable plate. About a half hour later, the vegetable plate arrived. I said "wait" what happened to the appetizer I ordered 45 minutes ago. He quickly went to the kitchen and brought it to the table. After waiting 45 minutes, what a disappointment. $16 for a baked mozzarella ball, wrapped with prosciutto drizzled with fig reduction. The taste was just okay, it was cold and don't believe it was baked. It was very small ball. For $16 it should of had 2 or 3 balls of cheese and served warm. My wife had the Wagu Steak and was cooked to perfection. My clam & Shrimp linguine was a bit too much Al denté, should have been cooked a few minutes longer, but the taste was pure perfection. We then had tiramisu and it was amazing! Bottom line: the food is to die for! The execution is not good.

Yelp
Great entrees, salads and focaccia. The service was attentive. We only noticed this restaurant when we walked around Koloa Town. Reservations are a must. Would definitely come back when we are on Kauai again.

Yelp
Beyond amazing!!! Some of the best food we have had on the island. The concierge at our hotel recommended this restaurant and made us a reservation. We typically do not eat at a lot of Italian restaurants and we're beyond amazed with La Spezia. The ambiance is really good and service was amazing. We could not stop thinking about it after our first nights meal so we returned for a second night. The food is so fresh and full of flavor. The ravioli was the perfect appetizer for two people and the fried zucchini was also really good. We had the Fettuccine Calabrese both nights and the Wagyu Hanger Steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and the glaze and capers were a pleasant surprise. The truffle in the Calabrese was not skimped on and it was also amazing. I highly recommend making a reservation as both night we were there they were packed.

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner here. You will need reservations (through their website). I had tried calling but they don't answer the phone, likely because they are so busy! We shared the meatball appetizer and the sausage & mushroom Calabrese pasta with a cream sauce. We greatly appreciated the waiter suggesting we split the pasta because of the portion size. He was right and that was so helpful because since we were visiting, we really didn't want to take leftovers back to the hotel. The complimentary focaccia bread is excellent and the meatballs were a perfect start to the meal. The pasta dish itself was memorable, rivaling dishes from our favorite Italian places back home. I would absolutely recommend eating here. They know what they're doing and the service is very good.
