Was looking forward to La Strada but ended up a bit disappointed. Starters of nuts/olives/mozzarella and meatballs were very tasty, but the pizzas just didn’t hit. The base was very good but the flavours didn’t come through on either the puttanesca or the Pulcinella, I actually had to ask for salt and pepper to get some flavour going.
Other gripes while I’m at it, service was a bit hit and miss, waitresses were nice but I think we had to ask them to take our orders every time, never came back to ask if we wanted anything. Weird.
The chairs are uncomfortable and the tables are slatted picnic style, ideal for bit of mozzarella ball to fall through onto your clothes.
Wine was a bit expensive coming from a tap at €9-€9.50 a glass, with a carafe coming in at €36. TBF that’s much the same as the tap wine up the road in Sprezzaturra.
Another weird thing was when paying by tap the tip options were only fixed euro amounts like €5 €10 €15, with no % option. Surely this reduces your tip take?
Hopefully they’ll get these easily fixed wrinkles ironed out in no time, in time for our next visit!
