This is a restaurant that was highly recommended for us during our stay. Such celebrities have been here as J-lo. The conveient thing is they pick you up from your hotel. After a ride up the mountain, you are told to walk down the dark stairs to the restaurant. Once you arrive, you can see the lights in the coast line with a breathtaking view. However, it's dark, so all you can see are the lights of the town and the water. You are met with the owners son, who tells you the set menu and asked white or red wine. Knowing this was fine dining, we were excited to taste what they gave us for red wine. The wine was very fruit forward, not the usual we have been drinking. That is totally an opinion, and others may have enjoyed it. As the meal started it seemed very rushed and very one note. I am sure as the menu changes there could be better meals here. Next time we won't be back to this one.

This restaurant should not be missed! We had seen videos and read about it, and yet it still exceeded our expectations. We arrived by the free shuttle (a huge perk, and yes the roads are crazy but these drivers are so skilled) right at sunset. The view was magical. We kept saying it felt like we were inside a painting! Our waiter introduced himself and explained that the meal would be family style, with no menu. This was perfect for us because we wanted to try everything and didn’t feel like making more decisions. The food was delicious. We loved how authentic and unpretentious it felt. We particularly loved the plate of beans, which we never thought would be our favorite! The energy of the restaurant is so sweet. There’s family dogs running by, a parrot at the door, and we could see the owners working in the kitchen. This was an amazing experience. Highly recommend.

This was one of the best meals I've had in Italy and the experience was just so cool. It just felt like you were eating at a local family's house. First, they picked us up at our hotel in a free shuttle (along with a bunch of other people) which was so nice as we had no idea how we'd get there otherwise. The ambience was really lovely and homey, we didn't get to see the views as we went at night but still such a pleasant place to have dinner. And the food was spectacular. I'm wondering if the bad reviews are just picky eaters? If you're picky don't come here because you don't get to choose what they bring out, but I absolutely loved being surprised at each course and I thought it was all DELICIOUS. The vegetables were insanely fresh, and the lasagna and eggplant parmesan are seriously the best I've ever had. And such generous portions. 60 euros pp for all they give plus a bottle of wine is an insane deal (they could easily charge more!). If you're in Positano I highly recommend coming here.

This place was amazing. It was one of the best meals I had in Italy. It is a fixed menu from farm to table. They also make their own delicious home made wine. This is a must try experience. Come hungry!

I do not recommend this B&B. Please listen to the most recent reviews of this property on Tripadvisor. I booked through Hotels.com and the reviews were so different than Tripadvisor reviews. This property is a dated B&B with 2 rooms that are located at their restaurant and a small farm below. Property is located 20 min outside of town close to Nocelle. You have to take a very crowded bus, which operates once an hour, to get there. They have several shuttles with transportation to/from their restaurant for their restaurant guests, but will not offer for you to jump on for a ride down/back to town; and shuttles are constantly running in the evening. I was told to take the bus. The other reviews that said they don't care are accurate. They are indifferent to you being there. One review said that they treat you like family... more like the family that they really didn't want to come. They are hands off. Once you arrive, you are on your own. No one checked in on us, no fresh towels... I travel for a living and I would caution travelers, especially international travelers, to book elsewhere. I do have to say though, the view was amazing.

Google
It was a great experience! The food was fantastic- I’m not sure why people are calling this a tourist trap. They will keep feeding you until you are full so you will need to tell them to stop! It’s a family own business and the parents still cook while the sons run the restaurant. The service was on the slower side but don’t let this deter you from experiencing this! The food is so fresh and you can taste the difference. It’s also very reasonably priced, 60 euros per person and for the amount of food that you receive this is a steal! The shuttle can be a bit of a wait at the end of the night but it’s free so really there is no reason to complain!

Google
IMHO...The best quality food of our 10 days on IT trip. Farm to Table. The other reviews are accurate. We hiked the Path of the gods and had lunch here. 80E for two with a bottle of wine. This is Italian comfort food at its best - not a Michelin star type restaurant.

Kai Walmsley

Google
We loved la Tagliata. The food was delicious, the view was gorgeous and you get a LOT of food for the price. It's definitely a hike to get to from the ferry terminal/main area of positano but there is a bus option. The hike to get there was actually beautiful but steep.

Yelp
We were very excited to visit this restaurant for our first dinner in Positano however we ended up with a deeply disappointing meal. Social media has overhyped this place and it's very obvious once you have a meal here. The cost is 60 EUR per person for dinner. They do a great job stuffing you full but honestly not worth the price and time. EXPERIENCE Once you arrive they separate everyone into 2 dining rooms. The upstairs is where it's lively and they have live music and singing. The downstairs is the complete opposite vibe and not the experience you are looking for based on what is shown on social media. If you still insist on visiting here for dinner and you get pointed towards downstairs then politely decline and let them know you must sit upstairs. Otherwise prepare yourself for an extremely lackluster evening. Also be prepared to be rushed through your meal. They definitely take on way more reservations than they can actually serve and if you're not in the first wave then expect to wait another 30-40 mins after you arrive. MEAL Dinner is the same through the entire restaurant. They start off giving you a bag of bread (tasted like old bread), then they give you 3 plates of starters which was probably the highlight of the meal. Afterwards you get a plate with 4 types of pastas which were underwhelming in taste. Lastly they ensure you're stuffed full with a plate of dry grilled meats that had no flavor. For the same cost, I would recommend avoiding the 40 bus journey here from the lower Positano town and make a reservation at Ristorante Max Positano which I can guarantee will be the highlight meal of your trip! Don't waste a meal here!

Yelp
Views and atmosphere to die for. A full multi course meal at a great price, with a show! The views at sunset were the best I've ever seen. Be sure to bring Dramamine because the taxi ride to this restaurant is very long and windy, but worth it. Service was quick and respectful. A must visit restaurant

Yelp
We loved our experience at La Tagliata! My only little negative comment is that we were here on our honeymoon and really did not get a great table (shared a table with another couple at the back of the restaurant). It all worked out in the end, the couple we sat with was very nice, but when you are on your honeymoon you just want a little bit of intimacy especially when you made a reservation. Still, we had a wonderful time here but wanted to mention our experience with seating and our reservation. You seriously cannot find another restaurant that gives you this amount of food for the price. I mean it just kept coming!!! Starting with traditional Italian appetizers like grilled vegetables and mozzarella, eggplant parm, local beans and peas, and then moving on to pasta. Four didn't types of pasta came out! Followed up with a meat platter and finished with a variety of desserts. There is no traditional menu, they just serve what is in season at the time. Do not let that concern you because they do have something for everyone and ask if there are any allergies! This is a family run business with most ingredients sourced from their farm and the entire family is the staff. And they make you feel like you are family! They were always checking in, always refilling your glass and ensuring you are liking the meal. This was such a fun experience and felt like home style cooking at its best. We would certainly return!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. It's a farm to table restaurant that offers sit down seating service or a fun cooking class for experience. It's located on top hill of Positano so the views were breathtaking. For about $40/person you have a fixed 5 course meal all freshly prepared. You better come with a huge appetite. A bottle of their wine is even included in your meal. One of the best food I've ever had! Highly recommended

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
The food was way too mediocre to be as expensive as it was. Sorry, but that's the truth. I genuinely wanted to enjoy this meal so much, not only because I was starving, but also because of the outstanding reviews that shower this place. Needless to say I left disappointed. And it wasn't just the food that left a sour taste in my mouth, it was also the fact that the servers clearly prey on American tourists, blatantly hunting them down for tips.

Denise G.

Yelp
The positive first, It has great views and it's charming. There is no menu, they just start bringing food out....the food was pretty bad....even the pastas! But the worst was the overcooked grilled meats! There is not much "service", they just put the food on your table.... Very disappointing :(

Lindsay B.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about La Tagliata! After reading some mixed reviews, I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect. I was absolutely blown away! Our hotel called and reserved a spot for us on the trolley that picked us up by the bank in Positano to take us up the mountain. The ride up was scary but the view was incredible! The air was so crisp and you could see for MILES. There is no menu, they just ask you if you want red or white wine and they start bringing courses! I will warn you - pace yourself! They bring a TON of food. One of the things I loved most was how much variety they brought out! There were multiple pastas and veggies and meats on one plate, served family style. Each person got a few bites of each item which was just perfect. You could really taste the difference because everything is homemade. The meats were a little exotic for my taste - rabbit and goat really aren't it for me but I loved the chicken, pork, and sausage! The meats are grilled right there in front of you. If you have a chance, walk down to the bathroom it's a beautiful walk at night with a dimly lit garden pathway. The gorgeous plates, the friendly staff, the delicious food, the VIEWS! And the treehouse outdoor environment was such an experience! I saw reviews saying it was 50 euro but ours was 60 euro a person. Worth it to me! We were staying in Sorrento and the waiter actually arranged a cab for us to get home! Highly recommend on your next trip to Italy.

Cortni H.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in the whole world. We did the cooking class here and has the best day of our entire life's. The food and atmosphere were so good that we even came all the way back up for dinner. Not to mention they literally make you feel like family and the views are incredible. A must do when you're visiting the Amalfi Coast!

Nan S.

Yelp
We didn't know what to do and happened to find this gem through a last min online search. Definitely not disappointed!!! It was one of my favorite places I visited on my trip to Italy! It's a family style restaurant and their menu is always rotating. The view is amazing, but my tip would be don't try to walk it from the ferry...lots of steps were taken that day, haha (however, I will say lots of beautiful views were enjoyed...we almost gave up so lots of patience is required if you choose this path, haha). The amount of food we got vs the amount we paid was amazing!!! It's also great that they accommodated my friends who are vegetarian too. :) They have their own little farm to freshly pick their veggies from along with a bunch of animals. Their parrot is so cute and also they allow you to walk around the farm too. It's open up to the fresh air and views, which is nice Everyone was so friendly too! Would love to visit again someday

Teresa S.

Yelp
We will always remember the view, the pre-determined, fresh food courses that were served with a smile without request. Also wine and lemoncello.... Amazing place to see Positano at sunset. To get there se eif you can get a shittle feom a hotel. We LOVED this place.

Justine C.

Yelp
La Tagliata came as a recommendation from a few people as a must-go-to place to eat in Positano. To get here, you should schedule a pickup from their bus service in downtown Positano unless you don't mind driving up narrow mountain roads and taking a chance on finding a street parking spot in front of the restaurant (I wish I had known this was an option). It is truly farm to table, their food comes from the garden outside the restaurant and farm animals. On a nice day, you can wander around the garden and see the fresh fruit and veg and visit the animals. There are beautiful views of the Almafi coastline too! If you come after sundown you'll miss out on these views. We booked a lunch slot at noon. There was a cooking class ongoing and the music they played was very loud and not at all Italian which killed the ambiance a bit. When I'm having traditional italian food in Italy, I want to hear Italian music! Onto the food - everyone gets the same food but you can specify if you have dietary restrictions and they will modify. The portions are HUGE! Advice - fast for hours before your rez and come starving! They provide bread, antipasti, a veg course, a meat course, pasta course, and dessert. The food was all delicious flavor and texture wise, but the meats were overcooked. Unlimited wine is included but I did not take it since I was driving. I did accept the small shot of limoncello which was offered with dessert though. Even though tipping is not the custom in Italy, we still left a nice tip.

Lisa S.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to us and we stopped in after walking the Path of the Gods.... In pouring rain, we were soaked and tired and ready for some lunch. Service was excellent. There is a set menu and the food comes out family style. After the first course, I couldn't believe we were getting more food. I loved the first course because of the variety of options, especially the veggie options. The beans, chickpeas, and fried cheese balls were my favs. The second course was pastas. Homemade noodles. So good. Fav of those was the gnocchi. I didn't have the last course because I was just too full but it was meat and fries. Whatever you want to drink is also included in the meal price. Loved the limoncello and dessert was heavenly. They have a covered patio and since it was raining, that was needed. They even had heaters around to keep guests warm. The view was stunning. Now for some sun!

Christopher G.

Yelp
There's a reason La Tagliata is world famous. Your night at La Tag starts with being picked up from your hotel in Positano and driven up the mountain to the family's home. Next thing you know, you have more food than you ever could eat presented to you; keep in mind, that's just the first course! Service is friendly and truly want you to feel welcomed in their home. Unfortunately we got there once it was dark, but the ability to look over the Mediterranean Sea while you eat the most delicious home cooked meal all for 60 Euros a person can't be beat!

Katey G.

Yelp
There is a huge amount of value at La Tagliata! First off, make sure you book in advance and schedule a pickup from their bus service! La Tagliata is WAY up the mountain, and there's really no way for you to get there unless you take their free transportation. We had a 7pm seating and got an amazing table with a view. I recommend the 7pm or 7:30pm seating, that will guarantee you get a great view (which is half the reason to eat here!) For €50pp you get a veg course, pasta course, and meat course that is a HUGE amount of food. It also comes with unlimited house wine (stick to the white) and dessert. We thought all the courses were delicious, especially the vegetables! Definitely recommended for an Italian "home cooking" experience with gorgeous views and wholesome service,

Chris K.

Yelp
We had heard so many great stories about this restaurant and it lived up to all of them! Fun staff, family owned, so much food and an affordable! Three generations working together to produce an authentic Italian dining experience!

Holly P.

Yelp
It's so much food. So go hungry. Beautiful views but I felt we were rushed out to flip the table for the next group.. and trust me we weren't camping out at our table. Our server was nice but when it came to paying the check he wanted cash.. and became persistent that they only take cash which is not the truth. He finally accepted my card after much back and forth. I won't return.

Sierra B.

Yelp
Was so excited to try this restaurant. The best part was the view. However, we were so disappointed by the service. They shuttle you in...feed you without explanation of each dish, and then rush you out. The wine was great...but they do not allow you time to relax and enjoy it after dinner. They basically kick you out. The worst part was when it was time to pay, all we had was a credit card (which has been accepted at every restaurant), and they shamed us in front of the entire place. They did this to the table next to us too. he stated something along the line of, "You typical Americans never have cash!" It was embarrassing and the worst service I received throughout this beautiful country of Italy. There are better places to eat, so unless you want a touristy experience...skip it!

Jessi D.

Yelp
A true gem of a family run business!! Food is a set menu-you get what you get. But absolutely no fear because it is ALL AMAZING! Views...PHENOMENAL! Some of the family members serving will speak pretty good English, and some not so much. Overall, this is my number one pick for dinner in Positano. I will dream about this for months!!

Debra O.

Yelp
View was exceptional! The building was quaint and you could feel the family presence at first. Then the server started a marathon of food offerings. Servers were quick almost on a fly by to get the food out quickly. We noticed we were not offered the same choices as surrounding tables. The beautiful gardens surrounding the restaurant made us believe we would see fresh fruits and vegetables. The meats were all very tough. Not sure how this restaurant gets such great reviews.

Bianca L.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a friends recommendation for our honeymoon/anniversary dinner and it was amazing! The whole experience and atmosphere of La Tagliata is so warm and welcoming. The family greets you and shared a wonderful story of how the family restaurant came to be. Don't even get me started on it's location and views! We loved that it's served family style and we didn't have to worry about ordering anything. Everything was amazing and we're really mad we didn't book one of their cooking classes too when we were in the area. Can't say enough great things about this place and can't wait to revisit!

Michael P.

Yelp
This place was good a few years ago. They opened a new room that is separate from the actual restaurant to accommodate more guests. It is a shame they ask people to sit here because it is not actually in the restaurant and you have to drive up a mountain for the view that you don't get from this room. i wouldn't recommend eating here as you can't guarantee a legitimate table with a reservation regardless of how far in advance you book

Rachel S.

Yelp
My fiancee and I actually ate here the night we arrived in Positano- and then went BACK again two nights later simply because we knew we would have a quality meal again. The food was DELICIOUS and the servers seem to enjoy working there and take pride in the unique experience. The owner likes to provide entertainment and music which is super amusing and fun. But it is important you know these things: There is no menu. Everything is brought out family style and in a certain order and the order cannot be changed. It goes -- table bread--some sort of light salad or veggies--appetizers that consists of heavier foods like fried veggies and beans and some assorted bits of things--the house pastas-- the house meats with fries and a small salad--then an assortment of desserts So, lets say hypothetically if you want to steer clear of a bunch of breads and pastas/are gluten intolerant- you have to sit through a bunchhh of courses to be able to eat the meat portion. Just something to keep in mind! Also- the shuttle up there can get super crammed. Both times my fiancee and i were lucky enough to be able to sit down because our hotel is the first stop on its route but other people had to stand... for like 27 minutes in the shuttle bus. Which sucked for them. SO PRO TIP: if u see this and want a pleasant experience getting up to the restaurant, when they ask what hotel to pick u up at say conca d'oro- walk to the corner where conca d'oro is located (basically right next to il fornillo) and wait for the shuttle there. that way ur able to sit comfortably and dont end up like the unfortunate souls later down the road. All in all- some of the best tasting food in Positano without a doubt and a super fun and unique experience- AND super reasonably priced. Somehow the cheapest meal we had in positano!!

Eric A.

Yelp
Total cattle call. Rushed to our table, rushed to eat mediocre food, rushed to pay, The ambience and excellent food that was promised was lacking...dishes are dumped on your table, with quality that is definitely subpar as compared to other food options on the Amalfi Coast. Really wanted to like this place, but you'd be best served to dine elsewhere.

Anna A.

Yelp
Food was horrible. It's a set menu and my husband and I couldn't finish anything. Everything was lacking salt. From all the places we went in Positano this was the worst and the view is not worth it.

David B.

Yelp
We took the cooking class with the family and it was the highlight of our trip. Antonietta and her husband treated us like family and we spend 4 hours choosing our vegetables from the garden, getting our own eggs from the chicken coop, and picking our grapes for... well not the wine but our glass was never empty. We spent hours preparing 7 dishes and they kept bringing other dishes to "try" while we cooked. Their food is spectacular and the views are incredible. You have got to go to La Tagliata while in Positano. Do not miss visiting here and if you want to have a lifetime memory of your trip, take the cooking class and tell them David and Toni say Ciao!

Ally F.

Yelp
Visited several years and had a great experience- delicious, never ending food, friendly and happy waitstaff, and singing entertainment Brought friends with us this time on our visit to Amalfi and was very disappointed. Party of 8. Had to ask 3 times whenever we needed more wine or water. Felt like we were bothering the staff. Food was mediocre, pasta was mush. We received the same size meat portion as the table of 4 next to us, so some in our party didn't even get to try the steak as others cut one lamp chop into pieces just to have a bite. No fries or salad served like other tables. No singing or entertainment like last time. Dessert was just OK. Were told we need to pay cash and service isn't included. Not the experience we remembered.

Mizan R.

Yelp
family style and no menu -- they give authentic dishes and fresh ingredients they grow on premises. shoutout to Pepe for being a great host. this is honestly the best italian restaurant in the world. they give appetizers first then a round of pasta and then plate of grilled meats along with beverages and finishes off with dessert. go here on an empty stomach. it was $45 per person and super worth it. it's a bit difficult to get here, you would either take a bus or a cab. super amazing food!!! with a beastly view and wonderful family! i will go back one day Grazie!

KC C.

Yelp
I hate to smear the reputation of this restaurant, but it was sooooo disappointing, so I have to share my thoughts. I wanted to love, or even like this place since it was recommended by a friend and quite a few blogger/vloggers, but i just cannot. Pros: Transportation - provides pick-up and drop-off to restaurant and hotel, as the restaurant is super high up. I didn't care that we were all stuffed in the van like a can of sardines but what could we do? My friend had to stand the entire 20 min ride, which by the way, the driver was 25 mins late. Cons: Where do I start? The food is awful. I think the saving grace was the side salad. The pasta was not good, the meat was dry, chewy and overcooked. Of the entire platter of 5-6 dif meats, the sausage was the only one that was 'ok'. The plate of beans, green peas and other misc. vegetarian-like items were just fillers. Never seen anything offered like that at another Italian restaurant in Italy or America. We didn't touch the bread which was in a cello bag, laying on the table upon arrival. Like they can't even put it in a basket? The wine is awful. I mean I've had cheap wine but this is CHEAP wine. The table next to us was smart; after tasting the complimentary wine, they ordered a dif bottle off the wine menu and didn't consume the free bottle provided. Everyone loves dessert right? Not here. Dried cake overspiced with rum, and fruit that wasn't even sweet. Take a look at the limp french fries they served us; reminded me of frozen fries that were baked/fried, and definitely not properly. I swear the only good item was the garden salad and water. Really not sure how this place has 4.5 stars. I'm truly shocked. So not worth the $50 pp we spent.

Jamie C.

Yelp
Food and service was good but I would NEVER GO BACK !!! they provide a shuttle which we waited a 45 mins for after being told it was only a 10 minute wait ,now we're on a bus that is hot as hell. We should have been told the truth so we could gotten out own taxi

Shannon T.

Yelp
Positives - shuttle service to the restaurant and amazing views. Negatives - very rushed and average food. If you like large quantities and trying lots of different Italian foods, this would be a good pick for you. However, I was disappointed in the quality of the food. Didn't seem fresh, limited fresh veggies, meat was tough and dessert was ok.

Tracey O.

Yelp
OMG, don't miss this restaurant's amazing farm to table experience. Make sure you come hungry so you can enjoy the never ending courses that keep arriving! And each course is better than the last, and the waiters are fun and accommodating. YUM!

Dexter G.

Yelp
The best food in Italy that i have found . Only suggestion I have is don't go here first or it will ruin everything else you eat. And the price and quality of food is over 5 stars . I have spent 5 times this elsewhere and would never go back.

Jackie M.

Yelp
They give you a ton of poor quality food. The service is awful. The only thing it has going for it is a view and they provide a free shuttle to get there and back from Positano.

Chris B.

Yelp
Just one word can describe this place. Wow. One of the top 5 meals in my short, 50+ years on the planet. Believe everything you hear and read. Come just for the view alone. If you can get the earliest reservation, you will have a seat on the edge of the world. And that doesn't even get us started on the food... First off, there is no menu. You get what they bring, and they bring it all. 6 or 7 courses, we lost track. Didn't get a price to start the night, and by the end I figured we would be looking at 75 Euro minimum - plus the wine. Wait for it... Bruschetta; Parma-Mozza-tomato plate; another spot plate of beans and broccoli and more. Then came the pasta. omg. Superb. Then came the meat. At least 8 different selections. Rabbit; 2 or 3 pork; beef; chicken; sausage. Again, omg. I saw so many tables sending half full plates back - it's simply impossible to get thru at that point. Truly fabulous. And to top id off, 4 or 5 different deserts dropped on your doorstep. Ate em all! If there is any drawback, it might be the wine. We were provided the local Tagliata blend of both red and white (included in the meal - all you want). I enjoyed it; but could see some getting disappointed. If you are looking for a specific blend; then head elsewhere. Total cost. 50 Euro per diner. Including the wine. To top it off? They picked us up and dropped us off at the end of the night. No charge.... Magnifico

Botros S.

Yelp
I'll start with the bad to get it out of the way. The waiter and waitresses were really nice. I believe it was the owner that was very rude which is surprising because the restaurant should be his baby. I waited over a half hour for my bill, which I didn't mind as much since it's a family owned business and I'm sure they were busy, however, when the owner brought the check he said cash is preferred and service is not included, also said it rudely (not sure why???). My suggestion is to probably give a heads up when making the reservation so your clientele knows you want cash. But welcome to 2023, everyone uses a credit card. I gave him my card and he huffed and puffed because I didn't give him cash, I put that aside and tipped him over 20% in cash for "services" although no restaurant in Europe asks for tips. He came back with the receipt. For me to sign and didn't say a word, not how was the food? Thank you for coming in? Just basic common courtesy think that even McDonalds would do. And I still tipped him because it's a family business and I wanted to support despite his attitude/behavior. Service is a big deal to me, it represents the brand you're carrying and it's your reputation. Bad service, bad restaurant. A message to the owner or whoever the taller thin man wearing glasses - you could have turned my one star to a five but your attitude and service determined this. Now the good - The food was fresh out of the garden, be prepared to eat a lot of food. I would also say the quality of food is good as well. The view is nice since it's at the top of the mountain. If you don't care about service and would like a lot of food with a nice view then I highly recommend it and I'll do the owner a favor here and let everyone know they prefer cash. They don't say this when making the reservation.

Yelp
The food was good but the transportation arrangements were terrible... Do not go to this restaurant!! The staff simply wanted to get rid of the customers since their travel services left for the evening going back into town and put us on a bus that routed us 10 miles out of the way on the other side of the city late at night. We finally found a taxi and had to double trip back to our hotel... Tourists Do NOT go to this restaurant!!! Never again for this place!!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! Family owned and operated restaurant that you pay a flat price and get multiple courses of all different foods to try. Make sure to come very hungry because you will be overwhelmed and so full from all of the food, but it is worth it because the food was all AMAZING! Everyone was so nice and welcoming too. It would have been an amazing view, but it was overcast and raining when we went. Note- there is a shuttle from the hotels in town, which we didn't know. Don't make the mistake we did and try to walk because saying it's a hike up those stairs is an understatement! Definitely a must do if you like little local places that are t commercial and fancy.

Yelp
WE ARE OBSESSED WITH LA TAGLIATA! A must-try when in Positano. It was such an amazing overall experience - unlimited wine, a plethora of food, and amazing vibes.

Yelp
5/5 stars for me! I personally love a fun, family style, casual but beautiful spot and this hit all those marks. A shuttle will pick you up (organize in advance) and we had a 20 minute drive with many other groups uphill to La Tagliata. The service is busy but kind people. We started with appetizers, veggies, meats and bread. I actually loved this course! Next were the pastas....so good. They finish off the dinner with a huge plate of meat (chicken, pork, sausage, rabbit and more)! This was a nice change from the fish we've been having! Dessert was another great assortment. All you can drink!!

Yelp
While this isn't the 'best quality' food that you'll find in the area, it is certainly one of the most fun and unique dining experiences around. La Tagilata is wayyyyy up in the hills of Positano. They offer a free shuttle with pick up and drop off at most hotels in the area (seems like what mostly everyone was doing). The shuttle is large and runs pretty frequently, so it's not hard to snag one when you are finished with your meal. There is no menu at La Tagliata. Fork over 45 euro per person and here's what you'll get: -A first appetizer platter with prosciutto, burrata, bread and pickled veggies -A second appetizer platter with a bunch of different things. Fried mashed potatoes, some mushy different types of beans + peas and a few different types of eggplant -A pasta sampler with four different types of pasta -A main entree of grilled meats, fries and salads -Dessert with some cakes and fruits ***UNLIMITED HOUSE WINE*** So the quantity of food is definitely there, but the quality is just so-so. The second appetizer platter was really just one big mush. The pasta was good, but a lot of them were similar. Really just different shapes of pasta with red sauce and cheese. The meat and fries were probably the worst -- very flavorless and oily. But, when put all together it is a decent meal, and of course with all of that food you'll leave full. But, the real reason to visit is because of the ambiance and the views. This restaurant is as high up as you can go, and because of that the views are killer. You feel like you are dining on the edge of the earth. The interior is beautifully decorated with lots of flowy curtains and hanging plants. And there is live musical entertainment throughout the meal which was so fun. Everyone is in a good mood. You are on vacation, in a beautiful setting drinking unlimited house wine. Could mediocre Italian food even really put a damper on that? I mean c'monnn - even mehh pasta in Italy isn't actually bad. With that said, I suggest trying this spot out during a trip to Positano.

Yelp
This place is amazing, they treated us like family and the food just kept coming out. if you visit Positano, eating here is a must. We absolutely loved it here!

Yelp
This was one of the best Italian homemade foods we had while vacationing in Italy. Couple of my friends recommended this place so we decided to try it out. Our hotel manager made reservations for us and the restaurant sent a van to pick us up from our hotel because the location of the restaurant is on top of the hills. The location is beautiful overlooking Positano and the ocean. I wish we went here for lunch instead of dinner so we could enjoy the beautiful views. The place is cozy and very welcoming. The staff is friendly and probably the best service we had in all over Italy. The food is delicious. It's served family style, there is no menu to order from. They bring you whatever is made that day. From appetizers to pasta, grilled meats and desserts. A lot of food for 45 euros a person. And that includes their house wine and sparkling water. We were told that the restaurant is set in a family farm. They grow their own fruits and vegetables. They use their own harvest to cook with. During lunch you can visit the garden and see it all. Maybe next time I highly recommend this place when in Positano.

Yelp
Great food and ambience. Well worth it. Only thing go in daylight for the view. It was just about dark when we arrived. Otherwise a great choice when in Positano.

Yelp
Save the trip and the time. Too many other GREAT options in the area. There is no menu, all predetermined and brought to your table in rapid fire. Meat, etc. None of the food is even described as it is brought from the kitchen like a conveyor belt. All tables sit at same time and eat all the same food. Then they bring the next group of unsuspecting tourists in for the same trap. I get that this family is running a business, but slow down. Quality over quantity. Let guests look over a menu and choose their options. Stop force feeding and using this opportunity as a #'s game. How many tables can I turn tonite?? Most of these guests will never return after the initial experience.

Yelp
This place is amazing! We are Italian Americans from NY who travel a lot and have to say that La Tagliata over delivered in every way. The food was incredible, the staff so friendly and the view amazing. My father always used to say you can't eat ambiance but at La Tagliata that may not be true. Positano was the best vacation place we have ever been to and La Tagliata was the capstone of our trip. We highly, highly, highly recommend. 60 Euros for unlimited food and wine that is extremely delicious.

Yelp
I am not sure why there are so many rave reviews about this spot. It was like a microwave potluck. Nothing was fresh at all and it did not live up to the hype. Only giving one star because service was OK. Highly highly DO NOT recommend because there are so many other places to enjoy!!!!! I

Yelp
On top of the mountain side in a remote village in Positano, Italy there's a famed family restaurant catering to discerning tourists and natives alike with simple 45 Euros and 35 Euros set menu with a descent house wine and unlimited cold water and fast service. I recommend 45 Euros for the hungry for Italian dishes. The free shuttle service was a nice added touch by the restaurant for the patrons and tourists with no private vehicle. In order to enjoy your meals, make sure that you have skipped several meals and get ready for a variety of authentic dishes from their garden straight to your table with generous portions! The ribeye steak with bone was tender and grilled to a perfect medium rare, sausage, chicken, rabbit, pork, shish kebab with variety of meats were the highlight and the best secondi. The bruschetta was one of the best tasting aperitivo, with a bottle of red wine and four separate dishes started with squash and chickpeas, spinach with beans, eggplants were all just antipasti into the homemade pasta dishes with probably the best chewy gnocchi and aldante pastas with pesto alla Genovese sauce were just too good and just too much. The meat dishes were served family style and five different deserts were indescribable! Their deserts are not very sweet but made with care. Two pieces of layered white cakes were the best tasting of all five different kinds of desert dishes. Then they served limoncello shots! I had so much foods I am beginning a fasting until my next feast. My dear Mukbang friends, do not miss out on Amalfi coast and Positano's best mountain top restaurant! I am giving them Fat Five Stars.

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to give La Tagliata a negative review. The view is, of course, amazing and the setting is wonderful, but we were so disappointed because my husband and I came to Positano in 2019 and had one of the best night of our entire vacation at this restaurant. It was the highlight of our trip and I have recommended it to so many since. Aside from the views and the steady outpouring of food and wine, there was live music and singing along and wait staff going from table to table to keep people involved and make sure everyone was having a blast. We have so many videos of that night that we shared with our kids and could not wait to bring them there. So when we brought our three adult children to the Amalfi Coast(this time staying in Sorrento) we knew a night a La Tagliata was a must do. We planned the whole day in Positano around going to dinner there. We arrived and they directed us to our table. The meal came out very fast and they just kept bringing dish after dish. It felt like they were just trying to move us along and turn the table and get us out of there and the next person in. The food was good up until the meat. The meat was ok. Odd random types of meat. The dessert was terrible. And there was no music. No joking around, no FUN! It was the biggest disappointment of our trip this time around. We showed the waiter the videos and he said oh we are not doing that tonight. We had to hire a private driver ahead of time to take us back to Sorrento at the end of the night but we're willing to spend the money for the amazing experience we thought the kids would get. I was truly so sad it wasn't anything like that night and would not got through the hassle of going all the way there again for that. Ironically, I have seen tik toks of the cooking class they host there and those classes look like the party we were at at our dinner there five years ago. Why don't they do that at the dinners any more? What a huge disappointment the whole thing was. Really.

Yelp
I rate this establishment a ZERO! I am very disappointed with the lack, or actually, NO service. La Tagliata promised the free shuttle they provide to and from their restaurant. Our concierge spoke to the owner of the restaurant. He stated he would send a shuttle. No shuttle showed. Then we had our hotel called again to say the shuttle did not show. They said a shuttle would be there in 10 minutes. Again. No show. Beyond RUDE!! What happened to honesty? Don't waste your money or time!
