Taifas

The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with warm, traditional decorations that make you feel at home. I started with a vegetable noodle soup — light, comforting, and full of flavor. The main dish, beef stew with onions, was hearty and delicious, perfectly matched with baked potatoes. The red wine from Fautor Winery paired beautifully with the meal. The staff were kind and attentive, and the overall experience was relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to taste traditional Moldovan food in a calm and welcoming setting.

Taifas was my first experience with Moldovan food and this review is some ways more about personal preference than the restaurant. I wanted to try the local cuisine and Taifas provides a good opportunity for that with a pleasant location, live music and great service. Our waiter offered helpful suggestions and we ordered our food along with wine and beer. We liked the subtle flavours of the wine and we really liked the beer. Sadly the cuisine is not for us as it is so heavy on meat and sour cream. The travellers meat platter reminded me of authentic Finnish food from the late 80s in good and bad ways. The main dish was our favorite. Taifas is a great restaurant, but the cuisine can be a challenge, so ask for advice from the waiters. We loved the talking parrot inside the restaurant.

If you are in Moldova and looking for authentic food, Taifas is the place. Be sure to book as they get pretty busy, which I’m Not surprised because the service and food are excellent. The addition of live traditional music is an added bonus. I’m not going to suggest any dishes, you’ll just have to visit to find out.

The food was very good and tasty. The place feels more like a proper restaurant – with nice decor and professional service. However, as a tourist, I don’t think it’s really worth it since the prices are about twice as high as at La Placinte. Still, if you’re looking for something more elegant but still traditional, this is the right place for you.

Don’t go there. First of all, the staff is rude. I asked in English where is the toilet . He answered in Russian, pointing to somewhere. I didn’t understand and he acted rude. Secondly, my friend asked for a Mamaliga without extras. When it arrived, he explained it was without extra . They said they would charge as if there was no extra. When the bill arrived, the waiter just said “I will not correct the bill - you have to pay with extra”. Never go there if you are a tourist!!!

I got terribly sick after their food and spend 2,5h vomiting. I had pork with sour-cream and mushroom sauce and polenta with a cabbage salat. Disgusting experience

Delicious Cusma lui Guguta. For single, there is just the pancake version. Size of 4 people get the original Cusma lui Guguta. Still delicious. Tasty coffee. I think the garcon forgot me outside though.

One of the best traditional Moldovian food restaurants I have eaten in. Each dish had its perfection, even the roasted vegetables were perfectly done including the amazing Mustard sauce. The desert....fantastic. This is a highly recommended place.
