Dive into La Véritable Tarte Tropézienne, where the iconic cream-filled brioche created in '55 is just the start of a sweet, bustling adventure in the heart of Saint-Tropez.
"Founded in 1955, the owner of La Tarte Tropézienne, Alexandre Micka, invented the eponymous cream-filled brioche that was discovered and named by Brigitte Bardot while shooting And God Created Woman . The Place des Lices location of this storied pâtisserie-boulangerie is the flagship branch (though not its original). This is a pastry lover's wonderland, with a bewildering and mouthwatering array of breads, croissants, tarts, macarons , and flans on offer. Buy anything, buy everything, just make sure you buy at least one Tarte Tropézienne—whether a slice or whole pie, traditional or containing fruit. You can even purchase multipacks of baby-size pies—you know, as a “gift.” By AFAR Traveler , AFAR Contributor"

For me it was a must to try as it’s the most famous dessert from Saint Tropez. It’s good to try but… for me no effect wow. It was good, I got 3 small ones with different flavors. Probably if I am there again I will give another try but… really there is no wow effect. The staff were friendly and helpful. Maybe next time I will go to a family patisserie not to a franchise one.

A visit to Saint-Tropez wouldn’t be complete without tasting this creamy, decadent pastry that perfectly embodies the luxurious charm of the French Riviera
The famous Tarte Tropézienne—a soft, sugar-topped brioche filled with a creamy custard—is an absolute treat, and it truly lives up to the hype. Created by Alexandre Micka in 1955, this pastry quickly gained fame after Brigitte Bardot fell in love with it during the filming of And God Created Woman and suggested its now-iconic name. It’s a delicious piece of history!
The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, with a stylish yet traditional French bakery feel. You can sense the dedication to preserving the legacy of this dessert. The service was friendly and efficient, though it can get busy given its popularity. Along with the classic Tarte Tropézienne, they offer other flavors and a variety of pastries, making it a delightful stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. Whether you’re a fan of history, baking, or just great desserts, this bakery offers a memorable experience that captures the charm of Saint-Tropez.

I was told to take away as there were no tables available. As I left with a coffee and cake, a table became vacant so I sat. Despite quite obviously eating their own menu, I was told very rudely to leave the table as it was for eat in only! Disappointing experience, and coffee and over- hyped cake not worth it anyway.

Their speciality tropezienne is unbelievably good. A must eat! Their apricot tart was delicious too. And yummy baguette. Plenty of spots upstairs to dine in.

Bought the beignet with vanilla flavour and cranberries, and the mini beignets with three flavours including chocolate. I liked the mini beignets better, they tasted better than the normal size with vanilla flavour and cranberries, the latter was ok, nothing special. So too expensive for the taste, expected more. And the service was ok.

See the prices displayed and see the prices charged. Nearly doubled. Just for the sitting in. Be carefull. No mention anywhere that the prices in are different. I will never return. Do not make the same mistake and save money for better cakes next doors.
