Oh, the famous La Texanita Restaurant, which I purposely avoided for quite some time due to the mayor of flavor town approval stamp (Guy Fieri). Not that I think his choice was a incorrect one, but I have stopped at some other recommended restaurants and they did not live up to the hype he portrayed. Soap box aside, La Texanita lived up the hype, especially with its fierce competition nearby.
Location, a very tough one, many Spanish (South, Central, and Northern) restaurants nearby, so it makes it a challenge to keep up with return and new customers. Competition like that is only a win for the consumer though! Stopped in on a Sunday, packed (Parking and all), so I had a little of a wait, but nothing to bad. Do not expect a lavish restaurant here folks, this is more of a traditional Mexican restaurant that many locals have grown up with. Menus tatty, old plastic cups for water, tables painted multiple times over, sign me up! These are the places ones need to eat if looking for that authentic Mexican cuisine. Anyways, onto the food, my family member went with the Chicken Enchiladas and I ended up with the Bisteco Ranchero, both extremely affordable. The meals took a little to show up due to probably the mass of people they were feeding, but the wait was worth it! The food was terrific and plentiful, basically only needed to eat that meal for the day as they served soooo much food. Basically in and out within an hour, so no complaints there and would gladly recommend this fine establishment for anyone looking for some good Mexican cuisine if in the area.
