Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Paris, hand down! My (French) wife and I stumbled upon this little gem right after they opened and have been going back as often as possible ever since.
The ambiance is super chill and friendly, the service is exceptional and the food... well, we've probably been at least 20 or 30 times by now and have not one single time had a meal we didn't absolutely love.
Dinner: In the evenings they serve small dishes tapas-style, and while we often say "this time" we'll only get a few, we never manage to do that, as there are always too many delicious choices to choose from. A nice selection of meat, fish and veggie options, often with surprising, contemporary touches that I've never heard of and that always rock my world. Hearty enough plates to never feel frustrated, but light enough to allow us to indulge in a fun selection of flavors.
Lunch: In the afternoon they serve meals (rather than tapas), and it's a great spot for what feels to me (a guy from California) like a fancy French meal for a ridiculously reasonable price. Which is nice, as we're not exactly loaded, and here I can afford to regularly get an appetizer, main plate, and desert.
Drinks: Really nice wine selection, and my wife highly recommends the organic, sulfite-free options, of which there are many. We've had champagne here a few times for celebrations and it's damn good and not too pricey. But the real treat is that they recently brought in a new bartender who has one of the most delicious, original drink menus I've ever come across. Our favorites are often the variations on the Moscow Mule (last week he made us a variation with ginger beer, spices, vodka, fresh lime and thyme), but again, he changes the drink menu regularly too, so just come in and treat yourself to whatever sounds good, you won't regret it.
It's a great place for a date or an outing with friends, but make sure to call ahead to reserve on weekends, as it's not huge and often fills up on busy nights.
We're moving to California in a few months and La Traversée will be one of the treats of Paris we'll miss the most. In the meantime...
(Note for Anglophones-who-don't-speak-French: While this is not a touristy restaurant, they speak English very fluently.)
