Upfront, we ate there yesterday. We were at the LMU baseball game, and it was FREEZING, so we wanted a hot meal. We got our Yelp out, and LA Vegan was on the list. I normally do not tip on a to-go order pickup, but yesterday I did with 15% extra... This is a rant, so move to another review if you are not ready to read it. However, we won't be going back; here's why.
When I walked in, it took me almost five minutes to talk to the woman about my name on the four bags for take-out waiting for pickup. Once I got it, I asked for extra utensils, and that was such an inconvenience to her; she eventually went to the kitchen and got me a little kit and almost threw it into my hand... only one other person was waiting for his food for pickup, but they were busy. When I asked for extra napkins, you would have thought I asked for a free meal, and what was handed to me was no more than three "extra" napkins... So on a customer service aspect, 1 star! Did it cut that much into your profits for more than three napkins?
The Food:
We ordered fried potstickers, eggrolls, two soups (one large, one small), and fried tofu. I asked for no cilantro, as I have a food allergy, but in the description, "no cilantro." Everything that we received was fine, but the dipping sauce for the fried tofu had it, so I had to eat it dry. Let me tell you, and Fried Tofu takes on what it's cooked in... This was bland as bland can be. The Soups were nothing to write home about, which is sad, as my wife and I love Tom Yum soups.
So I spent $50 with a tip for seven fried dumplings, five spring rolls, two soups, one large and one small, and a very generous BLAND friend tofu.
What killed me was the lack of customer service when I arrived. That alone left a bad taste. The only good thing was the heat from the soup, at the very least, warmed our hands.
All and all, there's no reason to go back. Why settle for poor customer service and unmemorable tasting food? Lastly, they clearly can't follow their directions, as they included a condiment that was requested to leave off.
Note to management, you should look into whats' cooking here... You had a customer, new, eager to give your place a shot, and after the experience, I don't see a want or need to come back!
