La Vela Boutique Hotel

Great spot. We rented two bedroom suite that included kitchen. Short walk to beach and the park. Nice intimate pool that was very warm. Wood fire pizza was delicious. Very reasonable priced beers by the pool. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Pool open till 10pm and we could hang and play cards and have drink in evening while our kids slept. We hired a private guide directly (Hector) for MA park which was really worth the $$. Rented chairs and boogie boards at the beach and did the evening catamaran tour. Great time in Manuel Antonio.

We stayed one night here and enjoyed the swimming pool and friendly staff. Comfortable bed and good shower although needed the dehumidifier on to reduce humidity. Nice seating area directly outside the room and capuchin monkeys seen in the garden. We had a tour booked in the national park which was three minutes walk away from the hotel, and only three minutes walk the opposite way to the beach where we had a lovely meal in a restaurant looking out to sea. Breakfast was excellent, eaten in the area directly next to the swimming pool – buffet fruit fruit and pastries plus a choice of a plated hot breakfast. I had the Gallo pinto, eggs and cheese which was really taste.

We arrived to the hotel and the receptionist was friendly and happy to see us. We had the two story suite for our family of five and it was nice with the kids upstairs. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Everything worked in the suite. The baths were generous in size and the suite was modern in design. The 2nd floor patio had a great view and we had a close encounter with several white faced monkeys. ||The grounds were nice and we felt immersed in the rainforest. The pool was a comfortable size and clean. The bar service, Juan, was amazing and we chatted with Juan many days getting to know him. Happy hour is BOGO, which served our family well. The brick fired pizza was delicious and we would stay here again.||Definitely consider this hotel. While it isn’t a posh hotel, it is Modern in design, quaint, personable, relaxing, small, and the employees are super nice and engaging.

We stayed 4 nights at La Vela with two kids. I can not say enough great things about this hotel. The rooms are comfortable and super clean. They have beautiful views of the lush flora along with iguanas and white faced monkeys. You can hear howler monkeys every morning and evening. The beach is very close as are many nice restaurants. All easy walking distance. It is a safe location too with security guards in the evenings although I doubt they would need them but they give you a peace of mind. But the greatest attribute to this hotel is the staff. They go beyond in every aspect. From the front desk, the bartenders, the chefs for breakfast and pizza, housekeepers and maintenance staff. They are super friendly and helpful. Their booking of tours were spot on and made our tours very easy from pickup to drop off. I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel. Would definitely stay again and again. Thank you La Vela. Pura Vida!

Great location, clean, comfortable rooms, fabulous breakfast, monkeys passing through almost every day, great pizzas and drinks by the pool, friendly and attentive staff, what else? They also booked us into a roll-in room that was perfect for my son who uses a wheelchair. We loved it. It’s a small hotel and very well run. Highly recommend and will definitely stay there again when we return.

La Vela is perfectly located. We walked (with a child) to the beach, to Manuel Antonio national park and to multiple restaurants. The rooms are clean and cool with AC. The pool is deep and a perfect temperature. Everything feels modern. We enjoyed the tropical path ways to the rooms. There isint a “view” from the rooms, but trade the view for the central location with walking distance to views. We saw plenty of wildlife at the hotel including Monkeys, iguana and tree frogs.

Comfortable stay in the family suite for our family of 5, staff was wonderful, air conditioning was fabulous, 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Monkeys at breakfast were a highlight of the trip for the kids. Enjoyed the pool as well as pizza and drinks

This is a nice property with a fantastic location. Its is within a 3 min walk to Manuel Antonio park, the beach, and the town area. It is decorated very “boutique,” and the pool area was nice to lounge and read. The pizza here is amazing. The room itself was a little sparse and needed updating. Very basic amenities, those you would find at a 3 star hotel. My biggest complaint is the water pressure. There wasn't enough to even enjoy the shower, and I had to skip washing my hair bc of a lack of water. The sinks were a mere trickle of water. My 15 year old son said the same. Overall, if you are good with a 3 star hotel with location as your priority, then La Vela is a nice choice.
