La Vela Khao Lak

It was amazing!! The resort has a spacious beachfront area with a beautiful view of the sunset. The price is reasonable, and the staff are truly excellent — friendly and always smiling. The swimming pools were beautiful — and there were 2 of them to enjoy. The spa area is clean, and the massage therapists are skilled. There was also a bartender show and a fire show that were quite unique compared to others I’ve seen. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of dishes. The coffee was absolutely delicious! Good quality👍

Just back from 20 nights at La Vela so wanted to leave a review.||Short review...|Would I return?|Yes without a doubt.||Long review.|Fourth visit to Khao Lak. Previously stayed at the Kalima, Apsara and La Flora.|I traveled this time with my husband and nearly two year old Granddaughter.||The staff at La Vela are outstanding. By far the best of any hotel I have stayed in around the world!|They were so attentive without being in your face. Helpful, just couldn't have done more to make us feel valued as guests.| I brought a safety concern with the children's water park to the attention of the management and it was swiftly dealt with. They genuinely thanked me for bringing it to their attention. You can't ask for better than that.||Coffee at breakfast is top class with Baristas that take pride in their craft. If you are a tea drinker take your own teabags, you can thank me later.|Food was varied, plentiful and fresh.|Plenty of clean highchairs available too.||Hotel is clean and well maintained. Swim-up-room is large and well equipped with a full size fridge freezer.|Pool was cleaned every morning. It has easy access and shallow areas with loungers. Our wee one loved the inflatable shark in the pool.||Hotel location is perfect. With just a short walk to shops, restaurants and massage parlours.|Being low season the hotel was quiet which suited us.||The beach is not the best and if you are not a big fish or shellfish fan you may struggle to eat a lunch or evening meal at the hotel.||We called into The Waters and asked for a look at their swim-up-rooms.|There is nothing wrong with them but you can see why they are at a different price point to La vela||In all a very enjoyable stay at La Vela and streets ahead of La flora which is part of the same group.||We would return in a heartbeat!

To be honest I thought I was alone in being a little disapointed with out stay here as a family until I read the previous review. I had great expectations for this Hotel with all the raving reviews but as a family was a little let down. The atmosphere just wasnt there for me and my teenage kids. There was a weird vibe about the place. Even when it started to get busier it still seemed vacant in energy. The kids club was definately for very young kids we walked in with our 10 year old and didnt even get a response from the staff member in there supervising and it smelt like bleach. The pool areas have no atmosphere. no music and if you want a drink at the pool near the cafe you need to enter the cafe which can be tricky if you are wet. why not offer poolside service and have your staff wait on people just outside instead of standing around doing nothing inside?? Rooms were great and functional but there was a weird musty smell that went though our clothes. Loved the big fridge. Breakfast was ok but weird having all these attendants standing at the entrance and you still have to find your own table ?? Not sure I felt entirely welcome in this hotel as we did in other hotels we stayed in but location was great and within walking distance to most things. Not sure I would be in a hurry to return. This hotel was the most expensive out of all of our trip but not the most memorable.

The room was beautiful and very large (king bed, ocean view) and the resort is very clean and well maintained. Front desk staff were very attentive and helpful. Only slight disappointment was the restaurant staff who were not up to the same standard (example, the bartender who would much rather practice bottle flipping than serve drinks). Overall though, very highly recommended.

We were invited to move to La Vela from sister hotel, La Flora mid way through our stay. La Vela is more modern and felt a lot more luxurious. The room was large and really nicely decorated. The buffet breakfast was excellent with loads of choice. There is a coffee shop at the hotel that is really nice and cakes to die for.|There is plenty of space and sunbeds on the resort and did not feel crowded at all. The hotel is right on the beach with walks in both directions. |The hotel is ideally located with access to all of the shops, bars and restaurants, of which there are plenty. The night market is about 10 minute walk. |Overall, we had a fantastic stay at La Vela and would stay again.

What can we say. This resort was stunning! Staff were always smiling, welcoming, professional and friendly. Food was delicious, drinks cold, lots of activities to enjoy or if you prefer to laze by the pool with a book or a cocktail, that’s perfect too. Very clean, efficient with any request - they have thought of everything to ensure the guests enjoy their time. Loved it!

There are numerous picturesque spots perfect for photography, making the overall stay here exceptionally enjoyable. The property also includes “The Cotton Cafe” and “Kokulo Beach Club,” offering the ideal blend of relaxation and vibrant beachside gatherings. Without a doubt, I would be delighted to return and stay here again.

We had the opportunity to stay at this hotel because we received an upgrade from the La Flora Hotel, which belongs to the same resort group. On top of that, we also received an all-inclusive package, which we really enjoyed! We are still so grateful for receiving that upgrade! Thank you for all that again. We really had an amazing stay here with you. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was always delicious. You could order everything, starting from international dishes all the way up to local Thai food. The beach itself was also really nice and clean. Only the water was not as clear as you might expect from other Thai beaches, but that is actually the only and really tiny disadvantage we had. So thanks again for everything, and we can highly recommend spending a vacation here.
