The Grub Street Guide To New Lemonades

"A beach-themed, made-to-order lemonade built for customization: guests can top it with spicy Q Ginger Beer or San Pellegrino, or turn it into a boozier beverage with shots of vodka or gin (or order by the pitcher) for a more grown-up take." - Nikita Richardson

Excellent Service and a Wonderful Place to Live! I had a fantastic experience recently, both with a service provider and with my current apartment complex. > First, a huge thank you to Rogel who handled the plumbing service at my unit. His service was truly excellent! Rogel was incredibly courteous and respectful, and he took the time to provide all the necessary details and explain the work thoroughly. I highly recommend him for any plumbing needs. > Speaking of great experiences, living at La Ventura Apartments has been wonderful. The community is always so clean and well-maintained, and I genuinely feel secure here. The leasing staff is also fantastic—they are consistently helpful, professional, and kind. It’s a great place to call home !! Shadab

I have lived here for over a year and a half and love the team. The entire front office is amazing and the maintenance team is always on it. Truthfully, the whole staff is. This week I’ve had two major requests, both handled wishing 24-48 hours. One was with the front office, I was needing a storage space and was able to tour and obtain one within 48 hours with the help of Emily and Ashley. The office is always coming up with different community engagement events, most recently a hot cocoa night in the clubhouse. Yesterday my water heater started showing issues and within 18 hours the water heater was replaced by Rangel. Top notch team and a great quiet community to live in.

I've had a wonderful experience living at Laventura Apartments. From the moment I moved in, the staff has been friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. They make you feel welcome and valued as a resident. The apartment itself is well-maintained and clean, which made moving in a breeze. It's clear that management takes pride in keeping the property in great condition. What really sets Laventura apart is their maintenance team. Response times are impressively quick, and issues get resolved without the runaround you sometimes experience at other complexes. I have to give a special shoutout to Rangel from maintenance. Every time I've submitted a request, he shows up promptly and gets the job done right. His reliability and professionalism are greatly appreciated. If you're looking for a place with a caring staff, clean apartments, and a maintenance team that actually responds, Laventura Apartments is the place to be. Highly recommend!

I have had an exceptional experience living here from day one. Everything has been smooth, comfortable and well maintained. The workers here are truly diligent they go above and beyond. I want to give a special shoutout to Rangel from the maintenance team. He is truly outstanding at what he does. Every time I needed assistance Rangel has responded quickly. I’m truly impressed and grateful. I recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a place that’s not just a home, but well cared for community.

Google
I’ve lived here for 3 years, and this has been the best apartment community I’ve stayed in over the past 12 years. The leasing staff (Ashley, Emily, and Cecilia) are fantastic and always go above and beyond. Maintenance is excellent—most of the issues are fixed within a day. Special thanks to Rangel, who always works with a smile and consistently gives his best. Highly recommend this place!

Carmon J.

Google
I want to give a big thank-you to our maintenance technician, Rangel. He was incredibly helpful and got several things in my apartment fixed quickly and perfectly. I was especially impressed because it’s the day before Thanksgiving, and I honestly didn’t expect to get everything taken care of so soon. Rangel was professional and kind. Even my dog loved him! I really appreciate his excellent service and prompt response.

Google
Rangel and Noe are my favorite guys—I have lived here for 3 years—I live in Building 7-—They have installed a toilet for me and a bathtub drain and other stuff as needed—They are very friendly and knowledgeable. The apartment complex is well-maintained . The leasing agents and the manager are awesome! This is a really nice place to live.

Google
I’ve been living here for a couple of years now and the entire staff is wonderful. The front office ladies(Emily, Ashley, Jeannie, amd Cecilia) are the absolute best. They help me with all of my silly questions I have. The maintenance team is amazing as well. Rangel especially helps with any of my requests and has never failed to fix anything that may need fixing. Highly recommend everyone at this community.

Yelp
We previously had a concern regarding our security deposit. After proper review and communication with management, the matter was handled professionally and has been fully resolved. Everything is now settled and closed in a fair manner.

Mahmood D.

Yelp
I previously had an issue with my security deposit, but the management team at La Ventura Apartments handled it professionally. The matter has been fully resolved, and I appreciate their cooperation and communication throughout the process.

Yelp
I have lived here 4 years now and love everything here! The office staff is amazing and the maintenance team is fast with all the work orders!

Cameca H.

Yelp
Old apartments, ac unit is on the balcony, small rooms just not worth the money. The outside and amenities are beautiful but that's it

Yelp
La Ventura is a beautiful property to live at. The maintenance team is amazing, very quick to respond and do a great job every time. The office staff are very helpful and communicative. Highly recommend this place if you are looking to move in Plano!

Yelp
In the twenty-plus years we've lived here, we have never had a problem that was not resolved quickly. We love the convenience of living here to all the services we look for in a community and the neighborhood schools are great if you have kids. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings

Yelp
Every appliance in my apartment was broken when I moved in. The place was full of dirt and still had items from the previous tenant. My water heater is 13 years old and the management said they have no intention of replacing it unless it bursts in my apartment. My neighbor is making noise complaints against me at 10am when I dont even have music playing or a tv on. The apartment has sent me lease violations for this and telling me to evict my other occupant when I do not and have never had anyone living with me. Honestly, they make me feel so uncomfortable here and I feel like I'm getting harrassed by the managment and my neighbor, but the neighbor is buddies with the management so nothing happens. Ive lived in many complexes before and never faced this kind of discrimination. They do pay attention to my maintenance requests and the lease violations aren't even valid. When I ask for proof, he just says that his word is proof enough! I hate it here so much.

Yelp
I'm updating my previous review of one star thanks to the new management. I waiting a good six months to give them a chance to prove themselves and they definitely have! I cannot say enough good things about the new office staff and management company. They have done an amazing job communicating, making repairs and offering creative ways to introduce us to our neighbors and are truly trying to make this a great community! Also, we REALLY love the maintenance staff! The spacious floorplans and location make this an ideal home for my family. Keep in mind, the apartments are a bit older than most in West Plano and face it, they are right in line with the overpriced living in the area vs quality. But all in all, we love this community now! Great job to the new management & staff!

Yelp
Walls are super thin, you can hear neighbors closing doors and drawers and playing their music all night. There's people walking everywhere going in and out of the complex because the gates are always open. This is a problem at night when there's a whole family walking in the middle of the street at 2am. The maintenance is a hit or miss, it can take two days to fix something or two weeks. The actual unit is messily fixed. On day one I can point out areas on the wall that have been "patched" together and pre existing water damage that had been badly painted over. The parking isn't bad at night, and the area is Plano is really nice and convenient but the neighbors and unit isn't worth it.

Ian M.

Yelp
The people living here are waaaay too sensitive. Calling about noise complaints over NOTHING. But never having the nerve to do anything themselves. The office hands out lease violations like candy, without any sort of investigation. I can't wait till my lease is up! I wish they would let me Break it. There is nothing I want more than to move out of this place ASAP. Not to mention the front gates have NEVER worked. Literally always open and unsecure. Unsafe.

Yelp
Please read this before signing a lease with la Ventura. Please don't waste your time & money here. The apartment is beautiful not going to lie until an unexpected leak happened in my kitchen with water pouring out of my light socket, I didn't complain just wanted it fixed. The apartments took a total of four weeks to finally get someone to fix it. I had to call on a daily basis just to get the run around. The entire time the apartment staff made me feel like I was being "over dramatic" or whatever when all I really wanted was it fixed (for safety reasons isn't that obvious). I had another leak into my bedroom which ruined my furniture, la Ventura decided that they wouldn't do anything because the office manager didn't know what contractor to call for my issue. The manager did come to the apartment to see how bad my carpet was soaked and stated that the window also had a leak in it and it would get fixed. That was back in April and now it's August and I haven't heard anything about fixing it. Honestly I've given up I just can't wait to move. Lease is ending in November and I am counting down the days! The apartments wouldn't allow me to break my lease even though they did break la venturas end of the lease & they refused to fix major issues in the apartment. I'm not upset or mad at la Ventura just didn't have time to deal with unprofessional staff and a very cheap apartment with plenty of safety issues inside.

Michele K.

Yelp
The property manager, Eric, hasn't taking care of a noise issue that has been communicated multiple times.

Yelp
The worst service ever. Very bad staff, management, and maintenance team is too slow and not responding most of the time. I have been without air conditioning for more than 6 months and without hot water for 5 days. The management is disrespectful and unresponsive. Manger made fun of me when i walked in to complain about the water heater and the air condition, that is unacceptable and I don't recommend this place to anyone..

Nancy P.

Yelp
You certainly do not get what you pay for. This is a "gated" community where the gates are never in working order.A needed part is always on order. The same is true of the car wash. Front office staff is rude. Loves to smirk a lot. Your issues are ignored but they will make sure to notify you if they can see a broom handle on your deck.
google avatar

Yelp
This place WAS nice to live in, but when you move out they nickel and dime you for the dumbest items. The management is extremely rude and difficult to deal with.

Respekt M.

Yelp
This apartment complex has the worst management staff in Plano. It would not be possible to resolve issues with the management because there is not an accessible method of contacting their corporate office. The complex is owned by Bassham Properties. There is not any contact information on their main webpage. Their Facebook page does provide a gmail email address for complaints. You can not call them. All complaints have to go to their gmail. Why don't they provide any of their own company e-mail or at least a corporate web form on their page for consumer input? Because they know they are getting too many complaints from their properties and would rather flood a gmail account instead. If you move there, expect to deal with the most unprofessional apartment management in North Dallas area. It may shock you and leave you speechless how they treat you.

Yelp
I lived here for almost three years and it was great... Until you are ready to move out... For every apartment there is one free covered parking. You can rent out another spot or a garage too. Your other cars (if you have them) or visitors can park in the uncovered spots which are proportionately scattered across the complex. There is a drive thur mailbox system and a free car wash station. Every other Saturday they offer a complimentary breakfast in the office. In the middle of one summer I had my air conditioner break down late at night. The apartment immediately shot up to almost 90 degrees. It was horrible, and I thought I would have to wait until morning to have it fixed. Nope!!!! Simone came right away to put a temporary unit in so I could get through the night. The next day when I got home from work everything was all fixed! It was amazing! Then when it was time to move out I did not get any grief for leaving. However, they did try to get every last penny out of me. I didn't have proof of the state of the apartment when I moved in, so I blame myself a little there. However, there were obviously things they charged me for that I should not have. I don't have pets and I never spilt anything on the carpet. It wasn't new when I moved in and needed to be replaced anyways, but they charged me for normal discoloration. As well as some other things that were already askew when I moved in. I learned my lesson. Take pictures before you move in and have the leasing office sign off on them too. Then you have a record should you need to dispute anything.

Yelp
i love it here. never had a complaint. not very many young people fyi and i prefer that. plus its west plano. GREAT GREAT GREAT location. plus its close to super target and super walmart which are across the street from each other. a bazillion food places. plano was voted best city to live in america a few years ago. i always pay my rent on time so i dont need to interact with the management much. the few times i have its been seemless. i think i pay $1 per square feet. plus you get one free covered parking spot and there is a free car wash facility. its also gated

Yelp
In the middle of 2011, after selling my house, I was looking for an apartment complex not too far away. I visited several complexes in the area. After visiting La Ventura with my youngest son, we realized we had found our new home. While in the process of rebuilding my life, I started out in their 1 bedroom Apt, moved up a year later t their 2 bedroom, and now I live in their large 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. The community at La Ventura is an eclectic mix of cultures and for the most part, everyone gets along. We have a beautiful large swimming pool and nice hot tub, and next to it, an amazing sand volleyball court. We have a nicely stocked 24 hour fitness center, and believe it or not, Plano's ONLY apartment complex indoor basketball court. Aside from all the amazing amenities, we have a management team second to none. We have 2 Megan's, one manager, and one assistant manager. They make it really difficult to ever want to leave. I have never seen such hands on dedication that these 2 women have. If I call about a light bulb being out, within 1 hour, one of the very handy maintenance guys is knocking on my door with a smile on his face. I have seen some weird reviews on here, but after being here for 4 years, I can honestly say that while you can never please 100% of the people 100% of the time, my time here has been incredible. While I have been contemplating buying a home nearby, La Ventura has definitely got me thinking about whether I ever want to leave here.

John G.

Yelp
Completely Pathetic! The area is nice and so is the apartment considering they don't maintain anything other then the grounds. They finished the renovations on the office over a month ago and have been using the clubhouse for daily management apparently they like the clubhouse so much they decided to stay. Now we don't have a clubhouse while the finished offices stay empty. Better hope you never need maintenance because you will be out of luck unless you have water gushing where as they will fix that and leave a mess behind. Their website and facebook will post a good review however they delete any true rating. Management and maintenance is a joke. Anonymous.

Yelp
I agree with Morgan D. This apartment was alright while I was there. However, my move out process what horrific!!!! The management is unreliable, rude, and unprofessional. I would not wish this experience on others.

Yelp
Derrick Bivens is the initial office manager i met with to recieve information about apartment. I was informed there were no apartments available for viewing, and there are no up to date pictures available of units online (just floor plan concepts). I was given the apt requirements document and reason for denial information. I decided it was a good rate for the sq ft and went on the website and filed out an application. I visited the office 4 days later after i submitted application online and was told that my application could not be found in their system and had to refill out a hand copy. I already had my money order for $200 as informed on the document provided originally by Derrick and on website application. I gave my money order for $200 in which i filled out in front of Derrick and took a picture before I left to go out of town. It was not specified in the application information provided that the $150 deposit should have been separate from the $50 application fee, nor did it specify that funds would allocate to a separate entity. I was informed the next day that they would not accept my money order and that my rate had gone up $70. I had to pay a fee to cash the money order to have separate ones created. Brought money order back, all of a sudden Derrick is hard to reach, and there are Temps in the office with little information. I was called within 45 min of dropping off newly printed money orders by Derrick informing me that I was denied. He couldn't tell me why. He said that La Ventura uses a company called Yardi Systems to validate future residents. I called Yardi and they couldn't give me information of why I was denied, and that my request was submitted for a report. How can I get denied in 45 min, and have to wait on a report for up to 3 business days to recieve explination? FISHY??????? I've never had any trouble before.

Yelp
Worst apartment I've ever seen...The management staff of LaVentura let contractor to enter my apartment without my permission. When I got home Feb 16th night, I found my room was in a mess. Mud everywhere on the carpet, refrigerator and furniture has been moved. There are two big holes on the kitchen ceiling and on the wall in my bedroom. I felt like my home has been broke in because there's no notice from the leasing office. The next day (Feb 17th) I talked to the leasing office, the manager said the pump in the roof of my building was broken, so they sent 3rd party contractor to fix it from my room without asking for my permission. I was very upset because my essential privacy cannot be guaranteed and my properties are unprotected. I asked the leasing office to recover my room, they agreed. But when I got back home at the end of the day, I found that only the refrigerator was moved back. The other furniture, the big holes and the dirt are still unattended.

Yelp
Beware, this place will screw you when you move out if you are not on Meagan's good side. I lived there 4 years, with a ridiculously high a/c bill of almost $400. I requested that the air ducts be cleaned because the ac was not blowing properly, but was told it was "too expensive". After 4 years, they charged me to replace the carpet, which is supposed to be replaced after 4 years anyway, and was not brand new when I moved in. Then I was charged almost $700 for air duct cleaning!!!!!! I settled with their collection agency for $1000, (full invoice was $1202) and they accepted my money, then reported the other $202 on my credit. I disputed this with Transunion, and the investigation returned results that they were not removing it. I guess my next step will be to send a copy of the settlement letter. Regardless of the outcome, I'm a single, middle class mother of 2 boys just getting screwed over by these greedy, horrible people. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Michelle E.

Yelp
My husband and I recently moved out after living there for several years in 2 different apartments (we bought a house!) I can't say enough about the place; the management is friendly and professional, maintenance is outstanding and they take pride in keeping the complex maintained well. The manager has been there along time ( the rest of the staff too) and runs the place well. I've recommended these apartments to many friends and co workers and wouldn't have moved if we didn't buy a house.

Mallory H.

Yelp
I am currently living here and cannot wait till the day I move out. Don't get me wrong, the complex itself is great, very spacious closets and bedroom etc., but when it comes to maintenance I've never been so disappointed in my life. You ask for something to get fixed, and you get a smart ass remark on how you're able to fix it yourself and if you have to ask them again then they give an attitude. So you're getting mad that I'm asking you to do your job? And unless you want your home smell like curry I would not move here. I don't mean that as a racist comment but when you have neighbors that cook curry that seeps over into your walls and burns through your clothes then you smell like curry, wouldn't you be a little pissed off too? I personally like to come home to an apartment smelling like vanilla or cinnamon, not shitty curry. But to each their own. Other than that I did enjoy living here for the past year, it just seems the last two months when you're supposed to start moving out is when it's the worst.
