Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Gordon Ramsey La Veranda at the Waldorf Astoria only a 3 min walk from the Versailles Palace. Highly recommend the beef cheeks, vegetables curry and the waiter who looked like actor Roddy McDowell. He was very amusing as he had a bit of a friendly dig at us. They’d just had a #ParisFashionWeek function. It’s a gorgeous hotel.once again us Aussie tourists were totally underdressed.loved the RR hotel car available.

Google
Our visit was very disappointing. We ordered the beef tartare, and the quality of the meat was far below expectations for a restaurant of this category and price level. The meat was sinewy, with coarse, stringy pieces that were poorly chopped – not at all the fine, tender texture you would expect from a proper tartare (see photos). Service was equally underwhelming. Seated at a side table, we were repeatedly overlooked. Most of the waitstaff in our section seemed to be trainees and, apart from one exception, appeared insecure and unprofessional. Overall, the experience did not match the restaurant’s standards or reputation.

I enjoyed the food I had here. Gazpacho De Melon was very refreshing. Service was good. The restaurant was nice! The breakfast selection is ok. Staff was very pleasant. Loved their hot chocolate.

This was a wonderful restaurant with great eats and a great atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed the service from the hostess stand to the table. They made me feel right at home. Everyone at this place is so professional and sweet. I noticed how helpful they are to one another helping serve dishes at the same time so everyone at the table were able to enjoy it at one time. The drinks were amazing and did not disappoint. I ordered the black tiger prawns with guacamole as an appetizer and the Irish beef aka steak with mashed potatoes. I’m literally planning my next visit here. I’m probably going to spend the rest of my trip enjoying dinner right here at La veranda! I just want to shout out my waiter and the team you all are amazing and I couldn’t ask for better french cuisine and an amazing experience!

La Véranda is the bar at the iconic Trianon Palace in Versailles, a beautiful place to enjoy a more relaxed experience away from central Paris. The property itself is massive, with stunning gardens that make a visit memorable, though the entire property, including the gardens, could benefit from some investment. The bar offers a lovely setting, particularly in the summer when drinks can be enjoyed on the veranda. The interiors feel a bit dated, giving early-2000s vibes rather than the timeless elegance of central Paris palaces. Service is friendly, though somewhat less polished and trained compared with luxury hotels in central Paris. Despite this, La Véranda and Trianon Palace remains a charming destination. The atmosphere is relaxed, the drinks reasonably priced for the setting, and the staff attentive. While the property as a whole could use some updating, the bar is still a beautiful spot to enjoy a drink and the historic surroundings. A visit here is worthwhile, especially for those seeking a calm and scenic escape from Paris.

Google
We spend new year eve in La Veranda and took the dedicated menu. Quality of food was very good and service better than expected. It was allowed to change menu content and even the wine choice was quite flexible, what is not always standard in France. Overall a clear 5 Star rating and strong recommandation. Unfortunately that was not the case for the Hotel.

Google
Very nice food, wine, service and atmosphere. Views of the stables in the park next door improve the ambiance. Even better when the weather is summery as you can sit outside to enjoy the warmer temperatures and sunny skies. Wine selection is impressive and worth a look. Didn't get a chance to try the dessert as we were pressed for time but would consider for the next time

Yelp
Refreshing afternoon sitting outdoors in La Veranda Versailles France located within the Waldorf Astoria garden area. The food menu offered small bites, salads, sandwiches and refreshments. The service was busy and came by when they could. It was a nice light meal and was nice to get refreshed. The only issue is the smoking tables are mixed with non smokers but it is Europe.

Yelp
We enjoyed a delightful early dinner at La Veranda. As hotel guests at the Waldorf Astoria, it was nice to learn there was great dining on the property. We had caviar and a bottle of rose to start. It came with a dill spread and little blinis. It was my first time ordering caviar and found the experience very nice. I ordered the white cod for my main course. It was light, full of flavor, and beautifully plated. The service at this restaurant was great. Very attentive, friendly, accommodationg.

Yelp
Prime rib was horrible no matter what you do don't get the prime rib Oysters was really fresh and good But damn the prime rib got me ducked up Next time I'll try the duck or something Service was good and punctual except they gave me a butter knife for the beef. I had to ask for a steak knife which makes me wonder why? Would I come back .. I would but not for the prime rib Edit The breakfast tho sheesh fire They had mangos and watermelon The staff works hard here doing the double shift Seen some members from last night here this am And a omelette station The bacon crispy The pastries fresh

Yelp
We had a wonderful lunch! The food was perfectly prepared and delicious! If you are coming to the Palace of Versailles, make a detour here for lunch of dinner.

Yelp
Impeccably good service with red wine from the local Chateau's that hit the spot. Food was great but the best part of this restaurant is the friendly and attentive service staff. A very upscale ambiance.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. The other restaurant was closed and we didn't want to walk down the street so we decided to try the hotel restaurant. Amazing. Staff was on point, but not pushy. Just there exactly when we needed them. The chicken was perfectly cooked. End to end soft and delicious. Im thinking water bath then finished in a broiler. A sauce was poured tableside. The sauce was amazing. Deep rich flavor. The crispy polenta was tasty but oddly shaped. I still can't get over how perfectly done the breast was. My wife's steak was done to her likeness. The benaise sauce terrific. Tarragon and creamy. The menu said a gratin of potato but fries came out. Who knows why. Our starters, risotto and duck liver, were fancy and delicious. Both had great flavor. It was my first duck liver and I would order it again. Paired very well with the apples and pear. I will also try to recreate the tomato risotto this summer when the garden has a bunch of tomatoes. Highly recommend. A tad pricy but it is a WA.

Yelp
As Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts." We didn't care for La Veranda but I hope it continues to evolve and improve. And we'd eagerly return if it does. La Veranda is not terrible but very overpriced for what it was. We were disappointed. Average food and disorganized service in an elegant bourgeois setting on the edge of the Versailles gardens. It was hard to find, and quite a hike from both the center or the Versailles commercial district and the Chateau. Foodwise, meh. We had the ravioli, vegetable, soup, veal shank, quinoa salad, and cod. Nothing was that great. Not awful but not special or mind-blowing. Servicewise, yuck. They brought us things at the wrong time, got the order mixed up, and in a general state of befuddlement. Odd because we went late in the lunch hour and they weren't that busy. It might just be a training and personnel issue, but the service was lackluster. Pricewise, Whoa! Very expensive. I don't think Gordon Ramsey would be proud. Although it could be he's more focused on his Michelin starred restaurant adjacent to La Veranda. I feel confident in saying that his demanding persona on TV would not be happy with the food or service we experienced, I'm sure.

Yelp
Usually when it's the second restaurant of a hotel, even a 5 stars hotel, it can be just a Brasserie with basic dishes, or a pale " wanna be gourmet " thing. And usually the wine list is poor or uninteresting. Neither were the case for La Veranda. Service was welcoming and attentive. Dishes were tasty, imaginative, real good and not overpriced (59€ the 3 courses, or a tasting 4 courses at 79€). And the wine list contained lots of good references and winemakers, some in the biodynamic and natural wine kinds. A real good surprise.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
The second star is for the terrific breakfast, the low score is because of the simply diabolical lunch. The salad nicoise would have been funny if it hadn't been so expensive. It was concocted with a quarter of a can of tuna, half and egg, some celery and a heap of [iceberg? Maybe not] lettuce. Barely dressed at all. Waited for ever for some salt or pepper. Actually waited for ever to get a waiter's attention for anything. Had to even request butter for the bread. The Parma ham was so tough but the grilled vegetables were fine [and minimal]. One expects to pay a huge premium for 5 star hotel dining but usually the quality is superb. Not here.

Yelp
I'd say this restaurant is a bit underrated on yelp. After many jets, hotels and European cities, this was my last meal of the trip and all I have to say is that it was excellent. The duck was prepared extremely well, they didn't bother with silly questions of how do you want it cooked. They cooked it the way the French make it, medium or medium rare on the inside and well roasted on the skin. Delicious. Side of wasabi radishes made it just perfect. Don't be fooled by the name, Veranda. There is both outside and inside seating and inside is quite pleasant as well. Here is the part I really did not like at all: The pricing of their wine. I ordered a bottle of Chateau Maucaillou Moulis from 2010. This wine retails in the states for around $20. What was their price? 70 euros! Now, I understand that a restaurant up-charges for the wine, but this is a ridiculous amount. Enough about the wine, after a few glasses, I eased up on that frustration. Another item you must get is the lamb pastry! It was the highlight of the menu for me. For dessert, Marie Antoinette tea is spectacular and unique. It's made with rose petals from the garden of Versailles and scented with apples. One of my favorite teas in the world now. Be aware it will cost you, 35 euros for one small pot to be precise.

Yelp
The staff was super friendly, the decor obviously nice being in a palace and the food was delicious! My favorite dish was the burrata starter! To die for!! It's a bit expensive but not unreasonable especially if you take a menu. Worth it!!

Yelp
My foodie friend really wanted to eat at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants on our recent trip. I'm generally satisfied with much less expensive food, but being a good friend, I obliged. I really figured she'd choose Gordon Ramsay, the restaurant next door, but she went with La Veranda instead. We both opted for the entree & dessert option which was €55/person. While on the pricey side, it was much less expensive than the tasting menu next door and included gratuity. We also shared a bottle of Riesling. The food was really quite good. I went with the pork. It was seared nicely and full of flavor. It came with mashed potatoes and an apple/onion salad. All of the flavors worked well together. Friend went with the special, which was chicken frickasee. It too came with mashed potatoes, but hers had mushrooms puréed in. I much preferred my pork to her dish. For dessert I opted for the chocolate mousse. It had a milky chocolate layer and a dark chocolate layer along with crunchy toffee-like bits. Delicious! Friend opted for a caramel something or other and it was divine. Service was good. We were treated very well despite being the only patrons in jeans (we weren't slovenly, but everyone else was in business attire - we were sightseeing). The location is beautiful with a lovely view out over the gardens/park.

Yelp
Don't believe all those bad reviews!!! We came earlier and they changed our reservation 30 mins earlier. The stuff are super attentive. We forgot something in the jacket's pocket, and they actually brought it by the table, waited till we get it and took it back. We've been asked if everything is ok at least 5 times. I asked how to get to the ladies room and the person explained the way and then still walked me there, all with the smile on his face. The food is amazing, we've been in Paris for 5 days- so far it's the best meal. Highly recommend! P.S. We are from NY, so we have high standards for the food, in case you are wondering

Yelp
Incredible meal. My husband and I decided to do the more relaxed Gordon Ramsay concept, on our last relaxing day in France. We will absolutely dine again and also try his other Michelin restaurant on the property. Every course was incredible. My main was the sea bass and my husbands was the duck. The fish was prepared perfectly and I could write songs about the sauce accompanying the fish. We had started our trip at Tour d'Argent )known for duck) in Paris, and my husband beloved the duck at la Véranda was much better.

Yelp
I started off with the Foie Gras pressed with beef bourguignon. I really couldn't get enough foie gras on this trip. This particular version was very good but I was a little let down by the fact that the beef notes were a little in the background and not at the forefront of the dish. It was a very subtle beef taste, but the plating was very beautiful. Next up were the scallops. They were served with an awesome bouillabaisse sauce. It was so tasty, that I had to resist the urge of picking it up and drinking it from its serving vessel. The scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly. You got the perfect amount of saltiness from the bacon and the bouillabaisse that went along with it. Then there were the vegetables that accompanied it which included mushrooms, marinated artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. It was a great meal. My meal made it's way up to €70 once I paid for the bottle of water, glass of wine and coffee, which I thought was complimentary based on the fact that I didn't order it.

Yelp
La Veranda is one of two Gordon Ramsay restaurants within Trianon Palais hotel next door to Chateau de Versailles. I've eaten at both which live up to Gordon's reputation as an outstanding chef. The interior is elegantly designed with a sophisticated ambiance perfect for a quiet meal. The menu is expensive especially wine bottle selections. The appetizers and entrees are beautifully presented with a creative flair and flavoring that is worth the high prices. Service was outstanding as expected. It is business casual dress and reservations are highly recommended in advance.

Yelp
We loved the burrata salad and the lamb for two. You sit outside with a view of the goat farm. Excellent value and view.

Yelp
The food is good. It really is, if it was excellent there would be no need for Gordon Ramsey next door.(Which was closed when we visited Versailles). We arrived right at 9 which was when our reservation was for. The table was not yet ready so we waited and had a couple drinks until 9:40 when we were seated. I had a "menu" which consisted of 4 courses. The pâté en croute was okay. The pistachios were a nice touch. I prefer my pâté with a more refined texture and it was somewhat bland. Pollock for the next course which was cooked nicely not overdone, it flaked easily. But again there wasn't much depth of flavors. The third course was entrecôte of beef which I ordered medium rare and was cooked just right. The purée and mushroom accompaniment was nice. Dessert was the highlight. It was more along the lines of what I expected; it was a nice combination of textures and flavors that kept me interested in the course. The service was quite nice, very professional although they changed servers after the second course which made things feel disjointed as we didn't know who was responsible for our table. At the end of the night they explained that our server had gone home for the night. It would have been a nice gesture for the next server to introduce himself briefly so we knew was attending to our table.

Yelp
Very good restaurant. The service was excellent, although the prices were high. Great setting, elegant, well prepared food with great presentation- definitely worthy of 5 stars. Great for a last meal before you leave.

Yelp
Such a disappointment. We spent 2 weeks in Europe, mainly in Switzerland and France, and this was the worst meal we had the entire time. Apps were fine, I had the lamb pastry and my wife had rissotto. However, she asked for a green salad as well (there wasn't any salad on the menu). Waiter agreed to it and then forgot to bring it, she never got it. Worst problem was the main meal. We were seated before all the people around us, yet our food still hadn't come out while they were all on dessert. Finally the manager came out to let us know that the swordfish my wife had ordered was delayed, but not to worry, they brought her a chicken dinner. They never asked us if we wanted a chicken dinner. My recommended meal was the roast pig, which the manager assured me was one of their signature dishes. OK, so the pig comes out and it's baked ham, whoopee! Very boring and uninspired with nothing special about it. My wife eats the chicken because she's starving by now. Then they still bring here the swordfish a half hour later. I shooed them away at that point, but the kicker was they didn't comp my wife's meal even though the manager could see I was extremely pissed off at this point. He gave me a free glass of scotch, again...whoopee! Completely stunned at how mediocre this food was with such shocking poor service. Completely out of place among the wonderful Waldorf Astoria hotel which was nothing but a top notch place in every regard. Avoid this place, hit the nice cafe's all around Versailles instead.

Yelp
We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at la veranda while staying at the Waldorf Trianon. All meals were delicious, well presented. Service was very friendly, prompt and helpful. Good wine list for any budget. Waiters gave very good recommendations on wine, food pairing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
It was very nice! I really don't understand the harsh reviews! The restaurant was very nice. The staff were amazing. The location and setting outside was very romantic. It's not a Michelin stared restaurant, so yes the food was not stunning but it was very good for the price. I went there with my girlfriend after visiting Versailles palace, we called at 6:30 and asked for a table at 7:00. They were very helpful and nice on the phone and said we sure can come. Upon arrival the reception was very welcoming and warm. We got to change the table to one of our choice. we got some small appetizers, some miniature baguettes and butter. Two servants were always available and more were called when we needed. They brought drinks right away and took the time to explain everything on the menu. They were very well trained and always smiling. We started with Artichoke salad and cured salmon. Both were very good prepared with good quality ingredients. For main I took the braised beef cheek (my favorite beef cut) and it was without a doubt the best I've ever had. The caramelised shallots on the side were heavenly! It was served a little bit cold (Maybe 2 minutes late) but it was not a big deal. My girlfriend took the pork belly which was also very good, but the skin was not as crispy as I would prefer but again the caramelised shallots, sauce and caviar eggplant made up for that. For dessert, I took the hazelnut chocolate with vanilla cream, which was as good as it can be (very simple dessert), while my girlfriend took the coconut frappe with exotic fruits (mango and maracuja :P) sorbet, which was absolutely amazing. I got a complementary coffee at the end and it was the best I had in France! (the coffee was normal but I really missed good coffee in France) After all I was really satisfied. Being a big fan of Gordon Ramsay I had very high expectations and I was not disappointed. I suggest you pay it a visit especially for a nice romantic dinner.

Yelp
Disagree with the reviews suggesting poor quality. My family of five enjoyed dinner a few days after Christmas on our first night in Versailles. The uniqueness of the menu caused us to all agree this was one of the better dinners we enjoyed while in France this holiday. A pumpkin soup with fresh buratta and white truffle oil was to die for. My son had a deer that was perfectly cooked, the best venison I've tried. I will agree that Gordon would have been quite disappointed with the level of service, but I attributed it to a party of 30 seated just before we arrived. What I love most is an opportunity to dine from the same kitchen as Gordon's upscale venue, but for about half the price.

Yelp
Awesome place with great food and wonderful staff! Appetizers and entrées were delicious and well sized. Scenery was great. The staff took care of everything better than any other spot in France so far. Definitely would recommend.

Yelp
Entree & Main was tres magnifique! Rich eloquent food. A very worthwhile dinner location in Versailles.

Yelp
Gordon Ramsay must have been on vacation. This was one of the worst experience we had in France. The food was terrible, over cooked, over done, too many conflicting flavors, not refined. Service was awful, they keep on forgetting things, dropping silvers on the floor, and it is way, really way overpriced for the type of food and the quality of food. Avoid at all cost.
