As Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts." We didn't care for La Veranda but I hope it continues to evolve and improve. And we'd eagerly return if it does.
La Veranda is not terrible but very overpriced for what it was. We were disappointed. Average food and disorganized service in an elegant bourgeois setting on the edge of the Versailles gardens. It was hard to find, and quite a hike from both the center or the Versailles commercial district and the Chateau.
Foodwise, meh. We had the ravioli, vegetable, soup, veal shank, quinoa salad, and cod. Nothing was that great. Not awful but not special or mind-blowing.
Servicewise, yuck. They brought us things at the wrong time, got the order mixed up, and in a general state of befuddlement. Odd because we went late in the lunch hour and they weren't that busy. It might just be a training and personnel issue, but the service was lackluster.
Pricewise, Whoa! Very expensive.
I don't think Gordon Ramsey would be proud. Although it could be he's more focused on his Michelin starred restaurant adjacent to La Veranda. I feel confident in saying that his demanding persona on TV would not be happy with the food or service we experienced, I'm sure.
