La Villa

We consider ourselves to be so fortunate to have discovered this oasis of tranquility when planning our visit to Tamil Nadu. Set in the heart of White Town, the French area of Pondicherry, this delightfully renovated colonial villa offers the best of hospitality.|The rooms have been thoughtfully furnished with the most comfortable beds and linens. Perfect bathrooms with full force showers, everything cleaned to perfection. French flourish evident in the decor yet the local style is enhanced. All the food is perfectly presented, healthy and very tasteful. Each member of the staff are a credit to the management. They are charming, attentive and understanding. Sadly we had to leave earlier than was expected however this was dealt with care and warmth.| If you are considering a visit Pondicherry stay here!

We came here initially for a drink as we loved the outside garden and patio - so peaceful and beautiful. Luckily we decided to stay here for a dinner which was a fantastic gastronomic experience. Meals are beautifully presented and full of flavours. The lemon tart with herbs sorbet and cucumber was a perfect addition to the dinner. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to have a high quality fine dining experience. The waitress Lupin was very professional and kind.

Wonderful. Loved the three night stay. Staff very attentive. Food was amazing. Tried everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. Exceptional in every way. Enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu on the last night. |The staff to guest ratio is at least 1/1 which means outstanding service. Would definitely stay again

Lacks hospitality, etiquette and good customer service attitude for a 5 star property. I called to book a table for dinner for the following day and the lady on the phone confirmed the same. I even took her name so I know who has taken my reservation. I called them the following day in the evening just to reconfirm things. A gentleman on the phone said that they don’t have any reservations in my name, also that they cannot accommodate me. I reconfirmed that I had booked with xxx lady last evening. They acknowledged that she is someone who works there but told me that they don’t have a reservation and that they cannot help me. The only thing they offered was for me to go there at a time that they can accommodate me but not at my requested time. The man in the phone was callous enough to just say, I don’t know why my reservation is not there but you cannot come at that time. You can come at another time and they can try. It’s a shame that such properties where basic customer service is lacking are given 5 star status. I guess they are also just too full of themselves that they think they can get away with such behaviour.

Excellent food! Excellent service, hidden gem. Only has a few tables, so make a reservation before hand. Everything was wonderful the music the atmosphere, must visit in Pondicherry

The staff with their hospitality do a commendable job. There’s nothing like this place. The place and the people have my heart. There isn’t any other place I’d ever stay at except for here and the food is to die for as well. It’s an experience I wouldn’t trade anything for. The milk jam is heavenly.

The staff were personable, attentive and willing to help. Managers (like Vijayaraj and Viknesh) were generous in sharing their knowledge about Pondicherry with us. ||We had dinner in-house and the food was delectable. The chef / kitchen obviously took great pride in putting out their offerings. I ordered a couple of items that were not on the menu (including lobster bisque) and it was awesome, filled with flavor. ||Location of La Villa is good, if you prefer to be in the heart of White Town (although the streets can be busy at times). ||As for the room (no. 1), the layout is not intuitive (this is an old, converted building with function forced to follow form). The power points could have been better placed. Parts of the doors and windows may not work smoothly but this did not detract from a comfortable stay. ||The pool is shallow and lacks length. It is more like a plunge pool +. La Villa has paid parking (about 80m away) but no quarters for drivers. The staff recommended a lodge about 2km away for our driver (and the driver complained that he had to put up with drunkards in that lodge).

Wonderful stay at LA VILLA. The rooms, staff, pool couldn’t have better. ||The food was the best we had in Pondicherry.||It’s a small boutique hotel with only six suites but this makes it special because you’re not tripping over other guests. We had the pool to ourselves most days.||Would definitely recommend.
