15 Best Wine Bars in Barcelona

"Neighbors don’t get more glamorous than Barcelona’s most beautiful church, Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar. Then again, if your bar’s name (La Vinya del Senyor) translates to The Lord’s Vine, you can probably hold your own. The wine list as thick as a novel helps offset a space so small that bottles tend to outnumber humans. But, staying focused on what you came for, grab a stool at the bar counter or head upstairs (via the tight spiral staircase) to enjoy some impressive church-top views. In high season, the outside seating area is heaves with tourists capping off their day of sightseeing with cava and oysters. Off-season, the crowd is more local—but there's really never a bad time to visit." - Gemma Askham

"In buzzy El Born, across from the Santa Maria del Mar church, this tucked away wine bar carries more than 400 wines and 20 by-the-glass offerings that change every 15 days. Pair a glass of Raventos i Blanc de la Finca or a bottle of Juve y Camps Blanc de Noirs with artisan meats and cheeses."

Where To Go Next in Barcelona

"Given this bar's location, with tables on Barcelona's prettiest and most touristy square, it's hard to believe the quality and selection of the wines by the glass, the boutique salamis and cheeses, and the mouthwatering coca (Catalan pizza) with candied red peppers." - Food & Wine Editors

Google
Huge wine selection on the glass or per bottle. Prices for bottles range from 13 to many euros, so something for everyone! Staff was really friendly and knew a loooot about the wines. Mixed olives are yummie, didn’t try other foods.

I went on advices from a friend. I'm sommelier and honestly for the wine lovers, the winelist by grasses is large and th one by the bottle is huge. I was nicely surprised by the prices of french wines espaccially in Burgundy and Jura two places victims from speculation. Please go without any hesitation

Google
Incredible spot in the square of an 800 year old church. Kike and Nico served us and were amazing — unmatched knowledge of the wine list. We were directed to two excellent bottles of wine. I absolutely recommend coming here!

Google
It’s great bar with jazz music and atmosphere- I guess it’s just super Busy and more a bar so staff is really busy and it takes ages to talk to them :) it’s a bit freestyle but once you get The chance to find you sweat and talk to them - you will get great wines! The wine list is impressive - So enjoy !

Google
We stopped by here for a quick wine on our way home after a disappointing dinner, and it truly was a highlight. The staff were so friendly, the wine selection was extremely afffordable and it was such a nice view/atmosphere. Would definitely stop by for a wine again and again.

Google
La Vinya Del Senyor is a gem in Plaça Santa Maria! It’s the perfect spot for a glass of wine and some delicious tapas while enjoying a prime people-watching location. The wine selection is extensive, with options for all tastes, and the staff is knowledgeable and attentive, making recommendations that truly enhance the experience. If you’re looking for a relaxing evening in Barcelona with great food, wine, and atmosphere, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Nico is fantastic. Great place. Highly recommend. Just be cool as you’re literally right across the street from a 700-year old church.

Yelp
One of the best spots in Barcelona to enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine and tapas. Their wine list is enormous, yet thoughtful, and I'd say reasonably priced for on-site consumption. I had a stunning bottle of white Rioja during my visit. The tapas are delicious and measure up to some of the more famous tapas places in town. Service is friendly but sometimes a bit chaotic -- there's a lot going on between the small interior and the large patio. Speaking of the patio, the views of the Basilica de Santa Maria Del Mar are top-notch. Vibe is pretty chill.

Yelp
La Vinya provided us our best meal out of many many good meals in the five days we spent in Barcelona. It sits across the street from the beautiful Santa Maria church. It is everything one could want in a tapas bar. The waitress was accommodating and super friendly. She guided us to several wonderful bottles of Spanish wine, both red and white. This area has a lot of wonderful places to eat but we enjoyed the two meals that we ate here more than anywhere else. Looking forward to returning next time we're in Barcelona.

Yelp
Great stop while visiting the Gothic Quarter, mid afternoon. Servers were attentive and the wine was amazing. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
We love this spot so much! The wine was phenomenal, as well as the staff. We came here multiple times during our trip. The small pours at a low price made tasting different wines affordable and easy. Please go if you can!!

Yelp
Cute wine bar in Barcelona that overlooks the Catalan Gothic church, Santa Maria del Mar. The wine list is very impressive, but the tapas were just so-so. The jamon iberica was on the tough side. Maybe it was just sliced too thick to chew? I also did not care for the tuna belly. I didn't realize the tuna was cured when I saw the dish on the menu. The dish reminded me of fancy canned tuna and cost 12 euros. The roasted vegetables were the only redeeming tapa. Prices are higher than other tapas bars, but expected since you are overlooking the gorgeous church. Come here for the wine and the view, but skip the food.

Yelp
Small place in the middle of a small square. There are a few restaurants next to each other all with outside seating. It is a fun wine bar with some food as well. We got the cheese plate and a bottle of wine. It is perfect for an after dinner wine. We preferred standing at the bar and having our drink and food. They have some stools too if you want to sit. Prices were reasonable and the bartender had good wine recommendations.

Yelp
A GEM in Barcelona! We visited after a wine tasting at Vivinos and then again after dinner at Baistaix. Friendly staff, outdoor seating with blankets if it's colder, and a beautiful view of the church.

Yelp
I loved this tasting bar. It's a small place, but fairly empty on a weekday afternoon. There's a small upstairs with a window, which overlooks Santa Maria del Mar and is great for people watching below. We tried about 5 different cavas and wines, all were delicious. Service was friendly and knowledgable and we left with a delicious bottle of white. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
This sweet little wine bar is located opposite of the church of Santa María Del Mar in Barcelona's Old Town. Interesting Spanish wines. The terrace or in seated in the square surrounded by stunning old-world architecture.

Yelp
I often found myself back at this place during my stay in Barcelona. The wine list is impressive, the service is top notch, and there is no better thing than to sip on some wine steps away from a beautiful church. (Literally it's right there!) On my first two visits, I sat at the bar down stairs. It has a very chill vibe and the interior has a cozy setting. The place was not extremely busy and I enjoyed the quietness. It was nice to experience this after a full day of exploring the city with nonstop noise pollution. The third time I went I decided to sit on the patio. With the church staring me down, I enjoyed some of their many wines, watched people as they passed, and enjoyed the random pop up musical performances. Each time I went, the service was right on point. Every single server/bartender was extremely patient with me as I spoke only English. They were so kind and you could tell they wanted their customers to have a great experience. Go for the wine, go for the impeccable service, go for the chill vibe after a busy day, whatever you do, just go!

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite wine bar in Barcelona. In fact, I used to live here and I would come here quite often. I recently made a trip back to Barcelona and I made it a point to come back here two times during my trip. The wine bar is in the middle of a beautiful square in El Born, which is by far the best neighborhood in Barcelona. It is across from a church and surrounded by other restaurants and bars. It's nice to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the beauty of your surroundings. The inside is just as cute. It's a small space but they have an upstairs area on the second floor that feels like a cute nook in a treehouse. The downstairs is filled with more people if you want to be more social. The wine and cava selection is great here. I am never disappointed by what they recommend me. I've also had their meat and cheese plates before and they are such good quality. Overall, this is a great spot in the heart of Barcelona and I always recommend it to any of my friends or coworkers who are coming to visit this beautiful city.

Yelp
Great location and ambiance here. Wasn't as busy as other places on a Friday which was refreshing. Tapas were ok, nothing special, but the service and experience was very good. They specialize in many different wines and are very knowledgeable but bang for your buck, this place wasn't as worth it compared to others in the area

Cynthia W.

Yelp
Best food & wine we had in Barcelona! We started inside because no tables available. We tried several different red wines with recommendations and all wonderful! We started with cannelloni and it was sooo good I almost ordered another. We ordered the tomato bread as usual but theirs was delightful! We also had some manchego. Gratefully a table outside opened & he asked if we wanted to move. That was great because evening was great & view is too. We finished with his recommended dessert of almonds covered in white chocolate & dusted with dark chocolate. Highly recommended stop!

Yelp
Definitely a great little place to stop by in the Gothic District for some delicious wine and tapas. It's a small and cozy place with an extensive wine list & just the right amount of tapas. Service was friendly and the price is right. Don't forget the bocadito of chorizo - Valè.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Great wine selection with knowledgeable staff. Tapas are also tasty. If in the area, drop in, and you may not leave.

Yelp
This wine and tapas patio bar is in be perfect people watching location. This establishment is located on the side of the Santa Maria Del Mar is a large courtyard sharing tables with a few other restaurants. With a vast selection of wine La Vinya Del Senyor boasts an array of glasses, carafes and bottles to your hearts delight. You will be sure to find what you are looking for if you are a wine lover. The tapas are also excellent, the Spanish olives and the chorizo with honey are a must. The bread comes doused in olive oil with a lovely rock salt and tomato. I will be coming back here as a destination stop on future visits and highly recommends

Yelp
Yes, you'll pay a premium to eat and drink somewhere as delightful as this, but hey it's just money - right? Head upstairs via the tiny spiral staircase and if you're lucky you will be able to score the only table that sits in the window overlooking the square below. Order a glass of cava, perhaps a nibble or two, and take in the scene that unfold downstairs.

Yelp
Of all the visions, fantasies and expectations I had of dining during my trip to Barcelona, La Vinya del Senyor met or surpassed each and every one. We just happened upon this teensy little tapas bar during a late night stroll through Barrio Gotico, just as we exited a narrow, stone-paved street into the square near Santa Maria del Mar, one of the most impressive (and oldest) Gothic Cathedrals I have ever seen. There were several tables outside, but we went in and sat at the bar, where an extremely kind young woman helped us select a cava (go for rosado - a very interesting rose variety of cava) and a trio of tapas to compliment it. The jamon ibrico was the best I had during my 10 days in Barcelona, no doubt. It was sliced so thinly, the delicate marbling throughout the pork actually melted in my mouth, and the flavor was that beautifully grassy, earthy, pure deliciousness that can only come from perfectly-cured and cut jamon ibirico. With the jamon, we had a sampling of Catalonian cheeses, all of which were superb - one creamy like a brie, one tangy and firm like an aged goats cheese, and one slightly moldy sheep's milk cheese, similar to Humboldt Fog. WIth that, we also got a generous bowl of mixed olives - super-flavorful, tender and juicy. We stayed at that bar for hours, savoring our Catalonian treats and chatting with the bar maid. There was no rushing, no crowding, no hovering. The cozy space was very intimate, and I could tell it was just as old as the city around it. I loved it, and can quite confidently say that this was my favorite tapas spot in Barcelona, hands down. Not to be missed!

Yelp
This hidden place is a must-visit for sure! A lot of wines with high quality tapas. Super tasty!! Locals love coming here. Not touristic, which I love about this place. Located in El born with a lot of cute shops to visit beforehand!
google avatar

Danielle B.

Yelp
We'd gotten a lot of recommendations for this spot and they're great wine list however we were somewhat disappointed in their selection as much of their wines were much pricier than other establishments we visited. We each got a glass of cava and again some heavier priced nibbles. Nothing was overwhelming and the service was definitely lack-luster. Would probably not return as there are better wine bars in the area.

Yelp
In the heart of the hackneyed, narrow and beyond romantic streets of Barcelona's Gothic quarter is a square dominated by the cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar. After taking in the beauty of the church's entrance, be sure to do a 180 degree spin...and behold La Vinya del Senor, a charming wine bar serving some of the most delectable morsels and wine that we enjoyed on our weeklong stay in the city. This tiny, two-level venue (climb a narrow circular stairway to access the second floor) was filled to capacity at the time of our Sunday night visit, around 9:45pm. Five of us snagged the only outdoor table remaining, and we settled in to watch hip city folk out for an evening with friends, or couples lingering over small plates, small talk, and the ubiquitous glasses of wine that are at the center of Spanish social life. With a setting this evocative, it's almost a crime not to come here with a significant other; I arrived with a merry band of friends instead, but made a mental bookmark to return someday with the Mister. We shared a bottle of dry cava rosado and several plates of interesting tapas ranging from olives to cheeses, jamon iberico, chorizo and sausage. Each dish was rich and amazing: "just enough" bites that took the edge off of meandering for miles through this beautiful and ancient city, without being overly filling. The entire experience totaled only about 12 euro per person: well worth it, not only for the outstanding food and wine, but also feeling as though you're in an enchanting dream-movie. The only thing keeping this review from five stars is the somewhat begrudging reaction we got from our server as we took our seats about twenty minutes before the kitchen closed, and thus had to place our order quickly. For a VERY nocturnal society, the place does roll up the rug a bit early on Sundays -- but then again, many other places are closed altogether on this day. As we left at 10:30pm, our seats and table were practically pulled out from under us as the waitstaff scrambled to shut down. I felt rushed (not unlike lunch at home during the workday, except with wine!), and that the staff was less than happy to see us. I understand the desire to leave work after a long day (story of my life). But at the same time I felt this to be completely at odds with the long, lingering Spanish dining experience. Come on, people, we're tourists with money to spend: fake it a little. I envy those reviewers who got to experience La Vinya del Señor the proper way: over an entire languid, delicious and carefree afternoon or evening, without a single thought given to the tick, tick, tock of the nearest clock tower.

Yelp
It is still the best bar in Barcelona. They have awesome selection of wines. Some of the best quality tapas I ever tried in Barcelona. And the location - just down the magnificient Santa Maria del Mar cathedral - is unbeatable!
google avatar

Lovely L.

Yelp
I'm a little disappointed with this place. It used to be so intimate with wonderful service and now the terrace has been overtaken by the restaurants around this bar. Also, this has been the second time I've been and the staff is not very well informed on anything, what wine is seco vs semi seco. It appears as though the staff is new?? He couldn't tell us about the olives that they carry. :( We had glasses of wine each and olives. A place for tourists, yes. A place for locals : no.
google avatar

Mikko H.

Yelp
If you like tapas and wine, this is the place. Small and cozy place with friendly staff. Wine list is as long as a phone book and tapas are well prepared. Definately an upscale tapas restaurant in turisty Barcelona.
google avatar

Rita V.

Yelp
Small, cramped, busy. Lots of wine, not a lot of tapas, its more of a meeting place for a couple of drinks and very quick eats, while moving on to something else. Expensive.
google avatar

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Lots of inexpensive wine choices and across from from the church so excellent people watching opportunities. Highly recommend!

Robert T.

Yelp
Great lunch. Great food. Great wine. Great view. Great price. Came here based on Yelp. I'll take Yelp over TA for food advise every time!

Yelp
Nice place to stop and share a bottle. Of course it's a tourist spot but they all are in this area of town, so sit back and enjoy the view the setting couldn't be better. Staff is nice and informative. i can't say much about the food because we had wine and cava.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
Great wine knowledge which was amazing due to their extensive wine list. Employees were friendly and pretty entertaining. I love the spiral staircase and wine written under the stairs and on the mirrors. Beautiful on the outside as well. The owner also has a wine shop around the corner that is jaw dropping. We sat at the bar and ordered some chorizo, tuna with almonds, grilled veggies, and the small bites. All very very tasty! They even gave us great recommendations for other places to visit while we were in town. Perfect place for people watching, too!
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
Great little spot. Outstanding selection of wines and cava. The tapas menu is limited, but good. The cheese board is great. A little pricey, but what's a great location across from the Santa Maria basilica!. Heading there again later this week.

Kelly G.

Yelp
My husband and I had wine at this lovely bar and truly enjoyed it. The service was great and the staff were friendly. They helped us pick out the right wine for our taste and we loved it. The place is very small but if you get a seat you won't want to leave.
google avatar

Wayne H.

Yelp
This place was great for outdoor seating. We enjoyed Cava and a few tapas in this little square in front of the Santa Maria church. This little area was packed with good people watching and it was a perfect place to take a break after touring the Gothic Quarters. We enjoyed our rest so much we ended up sharing a couple bottles of Cava before heading out again. I definitely recommend a visit.
google avatar

Hardev G.

Yelp
Fantastic wine bar with a great selection of cava and wine. Beautiful hangout without a touristy feel.

J K.

Yelp
They gave us some old wine and old cava. They need to throw out wine. My guess is 1) they don't realize my palate knows better and 2) they won't see me again. It's sad actually as I was looking to spend and relax because of the warm weather.

Yelp
Very nice wine bar with select local wines and tapas around wine tasting. Carefully picked wines and ingredients worth every penny. Must go for wine lovers in Barcelona. Great place to just have a drink or meet friends and have a tapas dinner. Staff very nice and helpful. Crowd nice and trendy. Great location in the Born barrio.

Stephen H.

Yelp
My new favorite spot in Barcelona! Food was great, Iberian ham, roasted peppers, olives. Great non-smoking section upstairs. Very nice right across the street from the church of Santa Maria Del Mar. My wife had a glass of Cava my dad and I had a great local red.
