Google
Welcoming and lovely restaurant with a large room where they often have live jazz and then a quieter area beyond the large bar where you can relax and enjoy the delicious Italian favorites. These folks know flavors and wonderful service and it shows. The pastas, meat, seafood, and desserts are all delicious.

My goodness. Hard to articulate the delight of our wonderful culinary experience. Ambience is soothing and calming. Our server Jamie was attentive and warm - the food is truly farm to table fresh, you feel alive after your feast, no food coma even after a several course spread. Prices are reasonable for what you get, most things are made in house. Easy to see how they have been la crème for over two decades and never skip a beat. A priceless gem.

On a Saturday noon we had lunch here. The food were very tasty. Especially I liked its mussels. And the apple crepe was so good. The reason for not earning a five start was the service was very slow. The hamburgers we ordered came out more than one hour after we placed the orders in a not too busy day.

Creative menu, delicious cocktails & pleasing ambiance. Uniquely vegan/ vegetarian friendly. The Upper “rooftop seating” was open air and enjoyable. Manager, server & kitchen staff were all engaging. Decor was rustic/chic while still modern & clean. Really impressed!! We will be back!

My wife and I have been customers of la zing for years. Lisa, Roberto and the staff always aim to please. Most recently we were there on a busy Saturday night. The evening started with a simple yet elegant bread and olive oil plate. As always, perfect high quality offerings, even with something as simple as a few olives, to get the evening started. Sometimes, something as simple as a beautifully preserved olive is all I need to get excited for what is to come. The servers were busy, but we were always attended to, in a thoughtful way by Augusto. By the way Augusto is a gift to good service. A reliable and friendly staff member who has waited on us for years. Drinks made their way to our table. My wife had a creative take on an old fashioned, and I had a lager. The beer was fresh and served at a perfect temperature. Our appetizer was amazing like always followed by salad (only one of my favorite things to get at zing, with gorgonzola on top) and our entrees, both of which were expertly prepared with care and thoughtfulness. Followed by delicious tiramisu. My wife and I do not go out often to dinner, so I will not pretend that we are experts, but when we do go out it tends to be big. We travel to Chicago with some regularity, and eat at the best restaurants in the country. I put la zingara right up there with the best. It's fantastic to have a restaurant like this in our neighborhood. Thank you for the effort, it is definitely worth it!

Google
Delicious dishes, simple ingredients done elegantly. Love the service as well, very friendly & professional. Great spot for a special occasion but also reasonably priced for a great weekend dinner.

Google
Was there for a special event, a book signing party. It was a cookbook and the buffet featured dishes in the style of the book's author. All the selections were delicious and the portions plentuful. Everyone there had a great time. Wait staff was exceptional, very attentive.

Google
One of the worst times I've ever had at a restaurant. The food was decent but the staff made us feel so uncomfortable and argued with us for simply taking pictures. The manager only made us feel worse and kept arguing with us the waiter came back and argued with us more and made us feel more uncomfortable it was a horrible time and I will never be going back and warn anyone that wants to have a good time not to go there

Yelp
Being new to area, I had seek help where I could host a large brunch party that will serve good food. I've experienced a lot of good brunch spots where the atmosphere is beautiful but somehow cut corners in service and/or sometimes food just ehh. I was recommended to host my party at La Zingara. The atmosphere was definitely decor as an old style Italian restaurant but was well light from the natural sunlight making it feel welcoming. I got lucky the day I went there was a live band. They weren't overly loud but played pleasantly great songs that had me toe tapping. It set the tone it was going to be a blast. From beginning to end the staff were amazing, fun, engaging and accommodating. The food was delicious, fresh and beyond expectations. I only wished I took some pictures to show how good everything was but was lost in the moment of having a great time seeing friends and family members enjoying every moment. Warm gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff and kitchen at La Zingara. Looking forward in returning sooner than later!

Yelp
We have tried for brunch and dinner now and absolutely love it. The indoors space is nice, white tablecloths, excellent service. All the pasta is excellent and we love the cannoli. The brunch is amazing also! The brunch options are more unique than at most brunch spots and the range of mimosas are unique and delicious. Again, service is top notch. Good for any time, just make sure to make a reservation!

Yelp
I had a bridal brunch for my daughter with 24 guests. The food was all delicious - they give you a choice from a big list and then your guests choose one of 5 dishes. The "almost bottomless" drinks were great! The service was top-notch. The owner, Lisa, is lovely. I highly recommend La Zingara. We had a wonderful time.
google avatar

Yelp
As soon as you enter, they make you feel at home the food spectacular. Your taste buds dance, so flavorful.. the wine selection was fantastic. The service was great and not overwhelming. We brought 15 people for my daughter's 18th birthday. We have a traditional New Year's Eve dinner here for the past 10 years

Yelp
The wife and I love this place. It's a little bit of a ride but it's always well worth it. We have been there about 7-8 times. It's a farm to table food. It's Italian themed. The food is always delicious and prepared to perfection. We started with the escarole and beans, it was fantastic, also the octopus was perfect, that's not easy to pull off. We also had for the main course the lobster risotto, it was delicious. My wife had had the salmon over pea purée over a watercress salad! Magnificent! Drinks were made very well. Wasn't a fan of the expresso martini but everything else was spot on! Great place and never disappoints. We will continue to frequent this restaurant!

Yelp
We stopped here for brunch on a Sunday. They had a prix fixe special going on. It was 3 courses (appetizer, entree & dessert) for $27. Not bad at all. I got the French onion soup, the salmon, and the cannolis. Hubby got salad, steak and eggs, and the tiramisu. Everything was fantastic. The restaurant is cute and there was live music when we arrived. Also centrally located in Bethel. The service was also good.

Willa S.

Yelp
We go to this restaurant on special occasions. It is a real gourmet experience. They serve unusual specials. I once had a Portuguese wine, on special, that might be the best wine that I have ever imbibed. Enough said?

Julia K.

Yelp
Pre-Christmas dinner at La Zingara was as always a wonderful delight. I absolutely love the seared Kobe beef with the fried quail eggs and the generous veal scaloppine special. The combination of the tender veal, cheese and mushrooms was perfectly accompanied by the mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables.

Yelp
This is a place to try hidden away with a fun ambiance. Starting with the beauty of the restaurant I felt like we were in a world of its own. The staff, specifically Augusto C had a solid balance of letting us enjoy our meal and attentiveness. The drinks, bread, olives, charcuterie were just the beginning. Our meals were over the top delish. Then dessert put us over the edge. Please try this wonderful establishment.

Michael T. T.

Yelp
We went to celebrate our anniversary. I have not been in years. The food was excellent. The service was great and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was busy but not too loud. The grilled octopus with the lemon eggplant ap was very good. Would not have paired them together. My wife had salmon and I had rye filet. Both were excellent. We will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here last night for an early Mother's Day celebration with my boyfriend. We sat in the back where the tables for two are. The ambiance is very nice. Perfect & quant, just a little noisy at times from the main dining area. The ambiance is very nice. The menu was pretty extensive & the wine list was impressive. Our waiter was attentive, our food was cooked to perfection! We will be back for more wonderful italian fare.

Yelp
I came here for a bridal shower and the brunch was so good! They kept my drinks flowing with my requested sangria all day. I ordered a salmon dish with cous cous, very savory and delicious. I thought the interior space was perfect for a small event for about 40ish people. Good food options and drink options. Great spot for brunch or a nice Italian dinner. Parking was easy because there was a designated lot in the back.

Yelp
I went to La Zingara for lunch with a friend who highly recommended it. Although not very crowded, the service was very slow for simple salads. It appeared that everyone's dishes were coming out very slowly. My friend who recommended the place also mentioned how long it was taking. But maybe we caught them on a day when someone called out. As for the food, we ordered salads, and they were good, but nothing amazing. Perhaps, I will need to return and order something a bit more complicated in order to allow them to shine. To me, though, a lot of their menu looked so heavy. The pastas had very rich ingredients, and there weren't many things that I'd personally be interested in ordering. We did see some charcuterie go to another table, and it looked very good. I wasn't wowed, but I would be willing to give it another try.

Yelp
If you like espresso martinis... Come here now! This is how an espresso martini should be done! I've been drinking these for over a decade and this is one of the best ones I've ever had. Exactly how it should be done. Great way to kick off the night.

Yelp
Went here for out monthly moms brunch. This wasn't our first time and will definitely not be our last. The food is always delicious and the unlimited drinks kept coming! Enjoyed the atmosphere and the live instrumentals. I can't wait to one day check out their rooftop area! Highly recommend visiting this restaurant, located in beautiful downtown Bethel!

Derek L.

Yelp
Fantastic Sunday brunch! Great service and the menu is extensive. Food was superb and unlimited cocktails are available for an additional charge. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have been here twice now, and both times the food was wonderful. This is one of my girlfriend's favorite local spots, and she has been wanting me to try out the brunch offering (PS-If I eat it at 1 PM-isn't it lunch?) For just under $30, I had the salad, The Bistecca Dell 'Impicato Con Uova (The hanger steak with an espresso glaze, homefries, and eggs), and a sorbet. It was delicious, and the portion on the main course was generous. One complaint-the service of the meal takes a very long tie. I am told, this is the way here, but worth it, and forces you to slow down. This does not detract from the meal, as long as you can be patient. Of note-the servers are lovely as well. Another thing that La Zingara does that I think is a bad trend amongst most restaurants-the music is too loud. This, paired with the bad acoustics, made it difficult to hear even the person two seats away from me (but not that crazy loud lady two tables away. I heard her just fine. Simmer down, Claire!) None of this takes a star away. Good food, nice people, recommended.

Yelp
BEST Italian anywhere nearby and worth traveling into Bethel for. All Italian wine list has something for everyone and the staff is happy to help. Amazing cocktail program and rotating draft beer, and we haven't even mentioned the food. This is classic Italian (no parm list or gloopy pastas here), and you get a true taste of Italy. They run weekly specials to keep the menu fresh and change the entire menu seasonally, using local farms as often as possible. A true gem in Bethel!

Yelp
Had the best experience at la zíngara a few days ago as well as their rooftop vesta last month! The service and food was amazing!! I appreciated all of the gluten and dairy free accommodations. My husband got the Gobetti which was like a fancy Mac and cheese but 100x better, I was so jealous watching him eat it! 10/10 experience!

Teresa D.

Yelp
Had my anniversary dinner there and it could not have been better. The staff and chef are to be commended. I am still thinking about it a month later and will return next week to try another dish I almost ordered.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the brunch here! The mimosas are so good and the steak is amazingly cooked. They also have a live band which sets the ambiance!
google avatar

Laurie A.

Yelp
All was good! Noisy in back room. Food was good. Service was fair. Waiter not very attentive

Daniel A.

Yelp
La Zingara is always good. Service, food, ambience and they also solved the sound level problem. We got a nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price too. We'll be back!

Paul S.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner at LaZingara. The appetizers and entrees were creative and very well prepared. They also make great cocktails. We also loved their sister restaurant Vesta. They have great casual dishes and cocktails. Natasha is a great bartender!

Yelp
Top notch! Food, service, atmosphere....... Can't go wrong at this restaurant. Great place for a date, family, or just getting together with friends. Never had a bad meal at La Zingara. Very unique Italian entrees as well. Not your typical Italian restaurant serving pasta, a meat or fish and red sauce. Highly recommend!

Patrick R.

Yelp
Great food, great service. As a long time town resident, this is one of my favorite spots. The specials are always great and I haven't left disappointed yet.
google avatar

Ilona K.

Yelp
I was reallllllly in the mood for some butternut squash ravioli and their ravioli di zucca did not disappoint! Such a classic dish done to perfection. Can't wait to try what else La Zingara has to offer.
google avatar

Rand M.

Yelp
Very good. Not great. Table of six with many 'Italian culinary' experiences under their belts seemed to agree with my opinion. Maybe, outside dining in the back parking lot amongst dumpsters was an indelible image which may have reflected something? Not sure. BTW, our waiter was superb.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Didn't even get to eat here because the hosts were the most rude people I have ever met. I also can't help but believe it's because I'm on the younger side and not white. Most of the people there were white. Honestly, they didn't even seem to want my party of 6 to sit in their establishment, so we went elsewhere. So incredibly disappointed in their service because we were all looking forward to eat there for the past week. All they could have done is be a bit nicer or say that they didn't have the space for 6. Instead, it was a terrible first experience and you bet I will never be going there again or ever recommend it to someone. First impressions are everything and they ruined that.

Yelp
This was an awesome place to host a bachelorette brunch! This place actually does 'bottomless drinks' and the food was amazingly delicious. We chose to do the three-course meal with bottomless mimosas and bellinis included. I ordered the bruschetta, poached egg with lobster on an English muffin, and tiramisu; all of which were tasty and aesthetically pleasing. There was also live music; there were two violinists playing songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and top pop hits. The staff was courteous and the venue was a wonderful place to chat and hang out with the ladies.

Susan L.

Yelp
One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Fabulous food, terrific staff and a nice ambiance.

Liz D.

Yelp
the restaurant is cute and is good to host a party but i don't reccommend their brunch. I wasn't fond that i could only order from their brunch menu when i went there but the food is good overall, just wish there were more food options during brunch
google avatar

Adriana M.

Yelp
Great place and good food. Staff was very accommodating and pastas we amazing with Seafood pasta as exception. Lots of seafood but little flavor. We had a large group and that was the only exception!

Deb Z.

Yelp
I never post reviews but felt this deserves attention. My family had a reservation for Easter brunch. When we arrived (we had a large group), we waited over a half an hour to be seated. When seated we waited another 40 minutes to get our orders taken. Not one of the waitstaff came to check on us and when our food finally arrived, one of the orders was wrong and three of our family members weren't served until well after everyone else at our table had finished eating. I did ask to speak to the manager to tell him about the food delay. He came back to say our dinners were "being plated".(Another 20 minutes went by before we we received it ) When we finallyreceived the bill they had added a 20% gratuity to the bill which none of us felt was earned. Quite frankly no one who worked there ever came to let us know what what going on or to apologize for the delays. And when it was brought to managements attention, we got attitude. In fact, one of the staff members came by our table and shook his head at us like we were the ones being difficult. I have never ever seen such a disrespectful attitude towards customers before. We were being very respectful when we were talking with the staff/management. It was they who were disrespectful and acted annoyed. I heard great things about this restaurant and that's why we chose it. However, after what I witnessed there that day and the way we were being treated, I will never never go back.

Yelp
Ever since we have turned into vegetarians, eating out gets a lot more arduous or simpler depending on how you view it. On one hand, the choice of restaurants that cater to our needs are very limited; on the other hand, the limited menus or lack of choices simplifies our choices, or we get to customize / modify the meals as La Zingara has done for us. I ordered the one vegetarian pasta item on their very nice menu, and my partner requested that another dish on their menu be modified to leave out the prosciutto. They offered to add in mushrooms etc and kindly modified the dish to curry to our vegetarian diet. So for that we are truly, profoundly grateful! We got the broccoli rabe appetizer as well, which was excellent! And our main courses were excellent! Very professionally done and the servers too had the perfect balance between taking care of our needs without being ostentatious!

Brian B.

Yelp
Great ambiance, enticing seasonal menus with creative dishes rather than run of the mill fare, well executed and presented dishes that are delicious. Staff is pleasant and efficient. The wine menu is superb for the area. Always a pleasure when in town.

Sue W.

Yelp
Delicious food and unique flavors. Totally unexpected and worth the visit. My go to place for out of town visitors!

Yelp
We were staying in Danbury and looking for a cozy Italian dinner spot - and bingo! It was Halloween night, and we arrived for an early dinner. Our waitress was expecting it to be quiet and we took a table in the corner of the comfortably decorated dining room. There is a second, upstairs dining are that offers a slightly different and lower price point menu, as well as an outdoor seating area. We took our time, and worked through appetizer, seconds and mains - all delivered at a leisurely pace. Throughout the meal, our service was spot on and friendly. We had a great evening and heartily recommend the restaurant. To start, we shared the mussels and a half-portion of pasta: Zuppetta Di Cozze $11.00 - prince edward island mussels steamed in a broth of virgin olive oil, garlic, sherry and fresh tomato Bucatini Ai Porcini $18.00 - hearty hollowed spaghetti tossed in a tomato and fresh basil sauce with oven roasted tomatoes and topped with a dollop of porcini ricotta These were both wonderful - the mussels small and fresh and the sauce, perfect for dunking ion fresh baked bread. The pasta was perfectly al dente and hearty. This paired well with a glass of white for the mussels and then a bottle of a fruity Sicilian red for the pasta (2010 Cerasuolo Di Vittoria Planeta) Much to our surprise, the place became packed, but service did not suffer. They even brought in an extra server on short notice. Us, after a short digestive rest, we moved on to the main fare: Rigatoni Alla Buttera $18.00 - rigatoni tossed with hot and sweet crumbled sausage and sweet green peas in a tomato sauce, finished with a touch of cream and parmigiano Petto Danatra Allo Zenzero $26.00 - pan seared breast of duck finished with a ginger duck glace, served with a grilled peach and an apple and napa slaw These dishes killed with a terrific 2008 Pertimali Brunello. We were stuffed and happy, and will certainly be back!

Yelp
Cozy interior- warm colors, good design. Varied crowd but leans toward the over 30 group & better heeled. Higher end for this area. Northern Italian cuisine but the menu is peppered w dishes from the southern regions as well & dishes inspired by the respective season. Excellent brunch- 3 courses, varied menu like traditional breakfast like poached eggs over english muffins w hollandais sauce as well as salmon, pasta etc., strong & very tasty Bloody Mary's & i just love the live music on Sundays too. The upstairs atrium lounge is really nice, lots of natural light, good tunes, w a different vibe & a more casual menu offering sliders, fondue, calamari. High Zagat rating. NYTimes review: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/09/nyregion/a-review-of-la-zingara-ristorante-in-bethel.html?pagewanted=all Solid beer & wine menu w great seasonal choices to enhance the menu. Professional congenial service. A solid pleasant dining afternoon.

Yelp
Just had lunch and was disappointed. We ordered drinks and appetizers. I didn't love the Lily Pad so I changed to the Sangria; my friend really liked the Lily Pad. The sangria was okay. My friend loved her calamari and neither of us loved the broccoli rabe. It was served near room temperature and lacked flavor. I am vegan, shared my allergies and asked if the escarole was vegan. Was told yes and when I ate it, I knew the dish had butter. The waitress, who was very apologetic, shared that the chef didn't see the special note. While the flavor was good, I would never come here again knowing the chef "didn't see" the note on the ticket. I have allergies and this is a big deal to me. Super disappointed.

Yelp
Flawless execution with the spirit and culinary delivery of fine Italian cuisine; La Zingara, or in the common tongue "The Gypsy Girl", is a rare find in Connecticut at this latitude. Worth an hour drive without a second though.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
La Zing is amazing. Food, service, people, ambiance :) My favorites are seafood dishes (apps and main) and gf pasta.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Over- priced and noisy. Run of the mill Italian,,,,, i'd rather eat at armondo's any day!!!!

Jessica D.

Yelp
Must must must MUST try their brunch. It is super well priced but also an amazing 3-course meal & so many different mimosa flavors! Highly recommend!

Rick G.

Yelp
This restaurant has been good for years, and continues to be good. We have been going there for at least 10 years and have never been dissatisfied or upset, quite the contrary we have always been happy and contented with spending our money at this establishment.
google avatar

Brandon R.

Yelp
From the time we walked in and were sat, I knew this was going to be a memorable brunch. Service was very prompt and the bottomless drinks came swift. The courses were more than substantial and all the food was of upmost quality vs cost. Highly highly recommended
google avatar

Lyndsay S.

Yelp
Everytime I visit CT I come here! The food is so wonderful. Love their focaccia and olives in olive oil. Awesome wine list and the yummiest most satisfying mushroom risotto. They make everything from scratch and I can totally taste the love and care they put into their food. Their tiramisu is so delicious. Also highly recommend the kale salad. It's always so lovely to come here and I look forward to the next time!

Maybelin M.

Yelp
Their portions are a little small but pretty tasty. Service was good. The ambience es very nice

Yelp
I am totally disappointed that I had to experience my first time here during the Covid-19 epidemic. I really was pleased!!!!!!!! The service was efficient and the seasoning was spot on. My only complaint is I wish they made their own pasta because I'm sure they'd get it right. I've been trying to find a new favorite and I think I've have.....See you again!
