Ask a Local: Artist Kwaku Yaro on Accra's Unmissable Restaurants, Galleries, and Beachside Hideouts

"Laboma Beach, located a couple of miles east of Osu, is a popular spot for exercise, swimming, and enjoying sunsets. It offers a serene environment where children play football before school."

I just got back from our program at Laboma Beach Resort and I’m still buzzing about it, the whole thing was set up right on the sand, which made everything feel so relaxed and breezy. We had our sessions under the shade, and the ocean was literally at our feet, so it was easy to sneak in a quick dip when we want. The resort’s staff were super helpful, especially with the extra chairs and the little beachside snack bar that kept us fueled with fresh fruit and cold drinks. The only thing that was a bit tricky was the Wi‑Fi signal near the water, but honestly, that just forced us to be more present. Overall, it was the perfect spot for our meet up, plenty of space, good food, and that laid‑back beach vibe that makes any meet up feel like a mini‑vacation.

Great beach with a lot of restaurants to explore. There are many activities to do(horse riding, motorcycle racing, poolside, seaside) and great ambience/music. There’s an entrance fee.

The place looks more and more organised. Note that you have to pay 30 cedis(per person) to enter. Do not pay a parking fee. There are multiple beach clubs/lounges to sit at. Prices vary from affordable to expensive. I visited Onda beach club. Meeting available on the beach or up in the building itself, food is good and prices are reasonable.

Individuals have to pay Ghc 30 to enter and GHc 20 as parking fees. You can decide to part outside the facilities for free, then you pay the entry fee of Ghc30 and walk .

Laboma Beach is a few metres away from the more popular Labadi Beach. We went Easter weekend, and they charged GHC50 each, which we thought was quite excessive. We were then charged another GHC20 to park the vehicle. There were a few eateries available who were all trying to get our attention for our patronage. We eventually settled with Dolphin Bay as they had seats available close to the beach. The beach itself was clean and not too crowded. A horse racing festival took place, which was fun to watch. Unfortunately, the body of a drowned person washed up on the beach.

They over charge for everything, to change the clothes, urinal is 5 cedi, for the tickets on the holidays, for the seats, umbrella . Blackmailing to buy more food and drinks.....not a good experience.

Get into the holiday and weekend grove at the laboma beach. The beach boasts of many restaurants, that serves both local and continental dishes. The beach is neat and there are private and open cabana areas for resting. The beach was crowded but parking spaces are available.

I loved the experience because it was less crowded on a week day and you can bring your pets, your own food/drinks.I heard it’s pretty crowded on public holidays but I’d love to experience that as well.I think gate fee was 20 per person both children and adults. There’s a vast selection of restaurants to enjoy meals and music. Its not too noisy
