"It’s been 21 years since cult homewares brand Labour & Wait opened its celebrated first shop on Redchurch Street in London’s East End. The retailer, which stocks all manner of goodies from throws to candles, kitchenware and garden gear, has celebrated in style this year by opening a second London shop at 48 Dorset Street – across the road from Monocle’s London base, Midori House. Welcome to the neighbourhood."

What a lovely store to have run into! Will be hard to find because of all the scaffolding on the building’s exterior, so look for the sign. Utilitarian objects and workwear, filled with knick knacks that hark back to drafting, engineering and tending one’s craft. Lovely & charming

While I like this shop and its products/merchandise, I don’t like the astronomical prices. I realise shops have overheads, but to charge over £200 for a very simple design, cotton top is ridiculous. Of course, being in what might be considered a fashionable area, shouldn’t give shop owners the freedom to hike their prices up! I wonder what the same goods would cost if they were located in Leytonstone?

Fantastic quality items and as with all their stores they are a pleasure to navigate and wonder at their goods. This new shop brings something that is sorely needed in the Marylebone area, that is great long lasting homeware and accessories at reasonable prices that are ethically made by craftspeople. Will be back!

Beautiful shop, loads of lovely things new and old. Great atmosphere, really welcoming place. All I bought was one pencil and they wrapped it beautifully in brown paper and closed it with a sticker which was a really nice touch.

I popped in on my first visit to London and I have to say this was the highlight of my entire visit! London is pretty overrated if you ask me, but this shop redeems it. The selection of products is just amazing, it’s like I’ve walked into my version of heaven! The staff only make this better, super helpful (that includes directions!) and friendly, giving insights to products and recommendations made the shopping experience even more enjoyable. On top of all that the place is just a pleasure to be in, the shop is set out like no where else and has a welcoming feel to it. Cannot recommend enough, do yourself a favour and visit!

I had the pleasure of meeting Chie who was so helpful and patient while I tried on the Guernsey sweater in different colors and sizes. I returned the next day with my partner when we got to meet Emily who like Chie, was so helpful and knowledgeable about the clothing pieces we were trying on. They know their products well, share a story behind the manufacturer or maker of the piece, and can vie for the piece because they either own or use it everyday. Chie and Emily just made our day and they were so much fun to talk to! We ended up buying so many pieces of clothing because they’re all of such high quality and unknown in the States. Go visit them in Marylebone! We’ll be back on our next London holiday! Thanks Chie and Emily!!!!
