I was so excited to stay at The Lace Market Hotel, one of Nottingham’s so-called best with its Georgian charm. The reception looks great, staff were lovely, and the quirky old lift adds character.
But that’s where it ended. The hallway smelled damp, and my Deluxe Double Room felt hot, musty, and tired. Windows were fogged with condensation and couldn’t be opened. The mattress was lumpy, the sink blocked, skirting chipped, and the bathroom sealant mouldy. You can hear everything, taps, chains, even the guest upstairs using their basin.
Great location, but no onsite parking. The Lace Market car park costs £16–£19.50 a night, with no hotel discount.
Staff were kind and offered breakfast, but no real follow-up or compensation. Beautiful building, but sadly, all shabby, no chic.
