Not the traditional English fish and chips but still very good. Fish was fresh. Batter was excellent. Mushy peas were pretty tasty but the portion was very small - no bigger than the tartare sauce. The oyster nuggets were good - so light and crispy. Pigs in Blankets (bacon wrapped sausages) was meh. Friendly service. Limited seating and they don’t take reservations.

Absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever had! The batter was incredibly crispy, perfectly complementing the succulent, flaky fish. The tartar sauce was the best pairing even though they offer curry sauce and peas. The fries were perfectly crispy as well. Beyond the amazing food, the staff were all wonderfully nice and friendly. We also tried the Scotch eggs, and they were delicious, especially with the accompanying coleslaw. Overall, a fantastic place that I highly recommend if you're craving fish and chips. Just be aware that indoor seating is quite limited as it's a small place.

Step into the cozy embrace of Lad & Dad, where a no-fuss, hearty meal awaits. This isn't your average eatery; it’s a place that understands the simple pleasure of good food done right. I came for the much-hyped fish and chips, and left with a new favorite side dish that completely stole the show. The Fish and Chips: A Classic, Perfected The star of the show, the classic fish and chips, arrived looking like a golden masterpiece. The batter was unbelievably crisp, shattering with a satisfying crunch to reveal a generous, flaky fillet of dory fish. It was cooked to perfection—moist, tender, and oh-so-fresh. Each bite was a delightful mix of textures and flavors. Paired with their thick-cut, fluffy-on-the-inside-and-crispy-on-the-outside fries, and a side of their tangy homemade tartar sauce, it was a culinary trip to the British seaside. It’s a testament to their dedication to quality; they've taken a simple dish and elevated it to an art form. The Purple Cabbage Salad: A Revelation But let's talk about the unsung hero of the meal: the purple cabbage salad. I was initially hesitant, but one bite was all it took to convert me. This isn't your typical, bland slaw. It's a vibrant, crunchy medley of finely shredded purple cabbage, tossed in a light, zesty dressing that's both sweet and tangy. The dressing—which I believe has a hint of apple cider vinegar and a touch of sweetness—cuts through the richness of the fish and chips perfectly. The salad is not just a side; it's a palate cleanser, a burst of freshness that provides a fantastic contrast to the main course. It's a game-changer and a must-try for anyone visiting. The Verdict Lad & Dad is a gem. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, and the service is efficient and friendly. They've mastered the classics, but what truly sets them apart is their unique twist, especially the stellar purple cabbage salad. If you're looking for a simple, satisfying meal that exceeds expectations, you've found your spot. Come for the fish and chips, but I promise, you'll stay for that unforgettable salad. Highly recommended!

We came on a Friday evening and ordered the fish and chips, along with the scotch egg. Food: The fish is good quality along with beautifully done batter. The sauces (tartar, mushy peas, and curry) all pair well with the fish, and is down to personal preferences on the pairing. S size was filling enough. The scotch egg is a yummy add on and insta worthy too. Condiments: There are hp sauce, sea salt, and malt vinegar, along with the usual chilli n ketchup. Service: Order through the waiters, and pay at counter. Typical bar service otherwise. Atmosphere: there is outdoor seating and shared indoor seating with mild air conditioning. Price: Bar food pricing. Generally, food prices in this area is on the higher end. Overall, I would recommend as a place to satisfy a fish and chips craving.

Popped into Lad & Dad for some proper comfort food. The Fish & Chips were spot on – flaky, fresh haddock in a beautifully crisp, golden batter, paired with chunky chips. The Bangers & Mash was equally satisfying. Quality, meaty sausage with great flavour, served on a generous mound of creamy mash, all smothered in a rich, savoury brown gravy. Classic and delicious. Don't miss their Scotch Egg! It features a perfectly cooked runny yolk encased in a thick layer of tasty, well-seasoned minced meat.

We had the fish & chips and shrimps & chips. Loved the batter texture and the fish/prawns were well battered, meaning it wasn't separating like most places I've been. I just wished they had a fresh salad to mix up the food texture a bit otherwise it's all fried. The coleslaw didn't look very nice, so we didn't order it but maybe this a certain style of British food.

The food at lad and dad was exceptional and extremely tasty. The thick and thin cut fries taste very fresh. The fish and chips were very well done with a good amount of fish in a crispy batter . However, lad and dad is a good place to come and eat with family or friends.

I’m not usually a fan of fish and chips, but their fish is really good! I prefer thicker fries 🍟, and the sausage with mashed potatoes is delicious. The prawn is huge! Honestly, I loved everything.
