We have a classic British dining experience in this charming gastropub setup at the void deck of an HDB block. The highlight of our dinner was the perfectly flaky Atlantic haddock, deep fried in a light, golden beer batter and paired with thick-cut, crispy chips. We also enjoyed the Scotch egg—featuring a boiled egg wrapped in flavorful sausage meat and coated with a crunchy breadcrumb crust—well balanced by a tangy purple slaw that cuts through the richness. A freshly poured Guinness stout from the tap proved refreshing and complemented the meal wonderfully. The warm, approachable service from the staff rounded off the experience perfectly.

Really tasty fish and chips, which is their specialty. Cooked just nice. This place had very chill vibes! Service was also great. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available. Will be back. Recommended, thumbs up!

Fish and chips was a childhood favourite of mine, and was my comfort food when I studied in the UK. Lad and Dad does it at the absolute highest level with the super light and crisp batter, and thicc cut fries and the classic mushy peas and tartar sauce combo. The scotch egg was simply complementary to the fried items, with the refreshing slaw and runny egg resting on a bed of sausage. C’mon. Best fish and chips in my world.

Lad and Dad at Tanjong Pagar is a cosy spot that delivers hearty, British-inspired comfort food with a local twist. The small eatery has a casual, welcoming vibe, perfect for a relaxed meal or quick lunch. The menu features their signature fish and chips, bangers and mash, all crafted with attention to flavour and quality. The fish is crisp on the outside and tender within, complemented by golden chips that are satisfying without being oily. Their homemade dips add a nice touch, elevating the classics without overcomplicating them. Service is friendly and unpretentious, with the team happy to recommend dishes and chat about their ingredients. Prices are reasonable considering the generous portions, making it feel like good value for the city centre. The indoor seating area is pretty compact, the restaurant can get really packed during meal time so be prepared to wait if you want to dine in. Overall, Lad and Dad strikes a great balance between nostalgia and quality comfort food. It’s not trying to be fancy, but everything is done well, making it a dependable choice when you’re craving a satisfying meal in the area. If you enjoy classic British-style fare made with care, this spot is worth a visit.

Not the traditional English fish and chips but still very good. Fish was fresh. Batter was excellent. Mushy peas were pretty tasty but the portion was very small - no bigger than the tartare sauce. The oyster nuggets were good - so light and crispy. Pigs in Blankets (bacon wrapped sausages) was meh. Friendly service. Limited seating and they don’t take reservations.

Step into the cozy embrace of Lad & Dad, where a no-fuss, hearty meal awaits. This isn't your average eatery; it’s a place that understands the simple pleasure of good food done right. I came for the much-hyped fish and chips, and left with a new favorite side dish that completely stole the show. The Fish and Chips: A Classic, Perfected The star of the show, the classic fish and chips, arrived looking like a golden masterpiece. The batter was unbelievably crisp, shattering with a satisfying crunch to reveal a generous, flaky fillet of dory fish. It was cooked to perfection—moist, tender, and oh-so-fresh. Each bite was a delightful mix of textures and flavors. Paired with their thick-cut, fluffy-on-the-inside-and-crispy-on-the-outside fries, and a side of their tangy homemade tartar sauce, it was a culinary trip to the British seaside. It’s a testament to their dedication to quality; they've taken a simple dish and elevated it to an art form. The Purple Cabbage Salad: A Revelation But let's talk about the unsung hero of the meal: the purple cabbage salad. I was initially hesitant, but one bite was all it took to convert me. This isn't your typical, bland slaw. It's a vibrant, crunchy medley of finely shredded purple cabbage, tossed in a light, zesty dressing that's both sweet and tangy. The dressing—which I believe has a hint of apple cider vinegar and a touch of sweetness—cuts through the richness of the fish and chips perfectly. The salad is not just a side; it's a palate cleanser, a burst of freshness that provides a fantastic contrast to the main course. It's a game-changer and a must-try for anyone visiting. The Verdict Lad & Dad is a gem. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, and the service is efficient and friendly. They've mastered the classics, but what truly sets them apart is their unique twist, especially the stellar purple cabbage salad. If you're looking for a simple, satisfying meal that exceeds expectations, you've found your spot. Come for the fish and chips, but I promise, you'll stay for that unforgettable salad. Highly recommended!

Been wanting to visit this place for quite some time. Walked past a couple of times wanting to try but always didn't have the chance to. Finally made a decision to come try as been seeing some social media comparison about this place and a KL restaurant. I have tried the one in KL so now I came to try here to judge for myself which is better of the two. Visited on a weekend lunchtime and it was rather packed because the place was not big and has limited seats. They are benches and probably you need to share tables with someone. Ordered the chips and also the scotch egg. The service here was rather pleasant as well. Didn't take long for the food to be served. Was quite impressed by the look of the fish because of the size and how crispy it looked. Couldn't resist and had to cut it and could see the batter was rather brittle, but the fish was definitely of a good thickness inside the batter. Tried it with both the tartar and the curry sauce, would say the curry sauce tasted better cause its more uncommon. I have to say I was quite amazed by how good the mushy peas was, I think this would be able to convert all the pea haters to lovers. Everything about the fish and chips was good, every element and all the flavours. Fries was also good but I decided to reduce my carbs so I only had a portion of it. The scotch egg was also so good it almost stole the limelight of the chips. Seriously another dish I could probably say one of the best I have eaten so far. Nothing to fault, and such a great combination with the purple slaw I just emptied the plate clean. A great place to dine and especially if you are in search of good fish and chips. And I can also say this one is better than the KL one! A little misleading though, the shop is located next to block 8 lift lobby but the address is block 7.

We came on a Friday evening and ordered the fish and chips, along with the scotch egg. Food: The fish is good quality along with beautifully done batter. The sauces (tartar, mushy peas, and curry) all pair well with the fish, and is down to personal preferences on the pairing. S size was filling enough. The scotch egg is a yummy add on and insta worthy too. Condiments: There are hp sauce, sea salt, and malt vinegar, along with the usual chilli n ketchup. Service: Order through the waiters, and pay at counter. Typical bar service otherwise. Atmosphere: there is outdoor seating and shared indoor seating with mild air conditioning. Price: Bar food pricing. Generally, food prices in this area is on the higher end. Overall, I would recommend as a place to satisfy a fish and chips craving.
