I don't usually write hotel reviews at all even when things don't go as planned because most times issues are minor or clearly temporarily due to a bad day or unforeseen circumstances. This hotel review however, wrote itself in my mind from the moment I got in - please check the pictures I posted for proof.
For a hotel that paints itself as a fancy boutique hotel, it is anything but. The hotel honestly feels like it's about to go bankrupt and they barely have enough money to keep the lights on - that was the vibe the entire time I was here (2 nights). For starters, usually when you get to a nice hotel there is either security or a door person to at least greet you, maybe help unloading the luggage or at least keep security - not so here, you arrive and go in by yourself looking for the reception desk.
The guy working at the reception was cold and did not have an ounce of sympathy in his demeanor - he asked for our documents like an immigration officer would at the airport.
We arrived at the hotel at about 2:35pm when check in was officially at 3pm - usually arriving this close to check-in time at a nice hotel, its mostly expected the room will be ready but thats ok, we could wait another 20 minutes. At that time one would expect reception to mention we could wait by the pool, get a drink or a coffe by the bar - none of that was mentioned at the time. We waited at the lobby with all our luggage and to my surprise when tried to get a coffe at the bar while waiting, there was no one working there. I checked with reception and they instructed me to go to the restaurant to find the only person working there and order the coffe from there instead. It was a process. The lobby bar was never staffed for a second during my stay.
I then wondered if I should get a drink by the rooftop pool while waiting. To my surprise, I was informed that there was no functioning bar upstairs by the pool and every time anything was order by the pool you had to take the elevator to ground floor, find the only staff member working at the restaurant, order your drink and then return to the pool. You can't even call reception from the pool as there was no functioning telephone or staff up there.
Once up on the roof, it honestly looked abandoned. Everything has a thick layer of sand and dust like it hasn't been cleaned in months. The bar is abandoned, deactivated and not staffed. The chairs are mismatched cheap plastic, some with dirty yellow cushions on them.
The pool itself is hazardous and falling apart. The flooring is completely peeling and disintegrating, I almost cut my foot on pieces of concrete just settled at the bottom in various corners. I've never seen anything like that at any hotel pool before.
The glass windows and doors all over the hotel common areas as well as the rooms were very dirty and had a thick layer of grime like they haven't been cleaned in years. The glass door the leads to the balcony in my room was cracked. In most developed countries you could literally call the authorities to report these kinds of issues at a public use establishment. I honestly don't know how this hotel has the audacity to sell itself as some sort of Boutique spa experience. The WIFI was completely useless in my room on the third floor right in the middle of the hotel.
Apart from that, the rooms are nice / clean at least and the cleaning staff seems decent / nice. The beds are also quite comfortable.
