23 Best Things to Do in Montreal

"This is one of those independent boutiques that represents Montreal flawlessly: it's historic yet modern, specialized yet welcoming, and filled with personality. It's located in a historic 1830's building around the corner from the Notre-Dame Basilica, in a gorgeous, light-drenched space that feels more like a proper gallery than a dusty old shop. Posters are beautifully displayed on the walls, or lovingly stored in drawers. Ask the knowledgeable owner Karen to match you with one of her most obscure favorites. You can't miss the posters. We're talking everything from obscure 19th century engravings, to original Art Nouveau artworks, to midcentury advertisements. What makes l'Affichiste so cool is that everyone from casual window shoppers to serious collectors are welcome here. The shop is a destination for both ambling tourists and highly specific collectors." - Todd Plummer

Google
Such a wonderful store. I originally found them on Instagram and knew I had to visit the next time I was in Montreal. The staff are amazing, we had some great conversations. The selection of posters is incredible and they helped me find the ones I was looking for. I’ll definitely be stopping by the next time I’m in town!

Google
Helpful and knowledgeable staff that took time to show me the entire inventory and answered all my questions. The posters are beautiful, mostly from France but generally from Europe, Montreal, and China. Small ones are around $50, several nice large ones go for $100, and the rarest can fetch $1000 and up. A must-see shop for any lover of vintage advertising and lithography!

A highlight in a city full of highlights. The shop has a tremendous selection and the nicest staff. And the prices are beyond reasonable. For people with an appreciation for posters, or those looking for wall art, this place is a must.

Yelp
We stopped by here randomly, partially to get away from the cold outside but also because my sister was in the market to purchase some art to decorate her home. She ended up buying at least four huge posters with the help of the owner of the store. The owner gave some good recommendations and was quick to ship the posters (almost so fast my sister wouldn't have arrived back home in the US yet). Such a fun, unique store and a welcome surprise!

Yelp
Original vintage prints are sold here. Try not to drool on them. Dating back to WW1 all the way to modern times, you'll no doubt find something to fulfill your graphic design lust for whatever design period you're into. We bought a poster from the Montreal Olympics for $100. Prices general start around here and shoot up to the thousands based on designer. A lot of shops in Old Port sell kitschy french posters. You'll find some of that here too but baby, this place blows 'em out of the water. A bit of a local secret, now on Yelp for you to discover. Take a field trip. Have some fun.
