Lagarto Hostel Tenerife

For someone who had never experienced solo travel prior to my time here, I had no idea what to expect. I was someone who saw hostels as a big no no simply because it went beyond the norm and would push me out of my comfort zone. Well, I can damn well be sure that my experience here has really opened my eyes to how comfortable it really can be.||All the people here were amazing. The volunteer staff were superb at accommodating and genuinely cared about the experience of everyone. Also plenty of opportunity to mix with other travellers who were all equally kind.||Rooms and beds were, well, as you'd expect for a hostel, a place to sleep and keep your personal belongings. Plenty of wall outlets to charge your devices right next to your bed. Bed sheets cleaned regularly and no issues with bed bugs unlike other hostels. Two bathrooms with showers too, so fighting for an opportunity to use them wasn't much of a concern.||The kitchen has adequate space for you to have a small selection of both dry and chilled goods. Well equipped too, so the "chefs" out there should be able to cook up most things. Free tea and coffee is also a nice plus.||The location is a little out of way, so be prepared to walk to at least the nearest shop or bus stop if you aren't hiring a vehicle. On that point, plenty of parking there, had no issues with there being too many cars for the space at least during the time I was here.||Overall, I can't recommend you stay here enough. I'd be surprised if anyone were to have a bad experience bar maybe sleep... that's something I feel may be the norm in mixed bedrooms 😅

I can absolutely recommend the Lagarto Hostel to anyone looking for a place to relax and connect with open-minded and friendly people. Definitely a 10/10! From check-in onwards, I felt very comfortable; the entire team was amazing, the room along with the wonderful garden with a pool, hammocks, and chill-out area were perfect to make the stay that relaxing. The kitchen and bathrooms are super clean, and you can really tell how much passion is put into running the hostel. I especially want to thank all the volunteers for the great time, it was a pleasure to meet you guys. Best regards and see you soon!

Lagarto Hostel was hands-down the best hostel experience I’ve ever had, and I’ll definitely be back. The friendly, respectful guests and the warm, helpful staff made our stay unforgettable—they even assisted when we had an accident as well as gave great local tips. Themed evenings, like paella and movie nights, added a fun touch to our trip too, and the kitchen was stocked with fresh fruits, delicious teas, and a positive vibe from everyone. Highly recommended! Super recommended, very nice balance between socialising and having a quiet environment for working / reading / enjoying the very nice garden and pool. The hostel is super clean, staff is amazing. Would always recommend having a car/scooter if you wanna move around because transportation is not good at all, but that’s the same almost everywhere in the north of Tenerife

We couldn’t have a better stay in Tenerife north. The community was warm and friendly, every question of us was answered in a detailed manner and people were always helpful. If you are looking for a cozy spot that’s close to the beautiful Anaga mountains - look no further !:)

A beautiful hostel with nice people and atmosphere. The common kitchen and the beautiful outside lounge make it easy to socialize. Sometimes there are even small events like movie nights, yoga sessions or cooking sessions. The facilities are in a good state as well. The only thing to keep in mind that it’s not easily accessable with public transport. But to explore the island properly, a rental car is highly recommended anyway. There are also enough parking options at the place.

Plus: relaxed and good common space including garden, little pool, big dining room, bathrooms not many but spacious and so with right privacy. Big supermarket in 3 Km distance. Close to the sea (500 m) not for swimming as usual in all the island. Good reception and advice on stuff to do around. Big and well equipped kitchen. Good beds. Good sales of drinks. Tip: organize a special price with taxi so to improve customer experience if without car (or other solutions). There is a free shuttle service but not every day and only of leaving day. Minus: location distant from BUS station (1.5KM in road non easy) so better if you have your own car/bike. Around not many things to do in walking distance but once at the bus, or by car is a good location. Kitchen space to be re-organized especially for the fridge. Lockers to be re-designed.

It was one of the best vacation ever, unforgettable. And this hostel played a big role for my comfort and happiness. Shoutout to the staff they were so supportive, helpful and kind. If I come back here to Tenerife i will come back to this hostel .

This fabulous hostel is a wonderful place, on the north side of Tenerife island in The Canaries, near TFN airport. One easy 30 minute bus ride from the airport (hint: just walk out the airport and run across a busy road with no crosswalk, or take a bus from the airport and connect if you aren't brave ;) !) Yes, it is a long walk from the bus stop to the hostel, but it's all downhill, and they will come get you if you arrange in advance. If you aren't a hiker or you have luggage, just rent a car and then you can really see the island. Gas is cheap there and so are the cars if you rent in advance. This is probably the closest hostel to TFN. North Tenerife is not touristy like the South is. The hostel is run by awesome folks, they offer a 7 euro dinner most nights that is not to be missed! Fluent English spoken here. Perfect blend of social atmosphere yet you can sleep at night. Swimming pool (year-round I think)! Yoga for 4 euro is coming. Huge outdoor chill out places. Full kitchen use allowed by guests. Perfect breakfast included with real juice and hard-boiled eggs. Don't pass this awesome place by! It is a bargain. I know hostels, and they are doing everything right here :)
