If you're planning to go for a long-ish hike at Lake Louise, this is a good place to stop at before taking the shuttle to the lake. The prices here will be about 25-50% cheaper than eating at the Agnes Tea House or at the Alpine Social at the Fairmont (which is the only place at the hotel you'll be able to eat at if you're not staying at the hotel). So if you're hungry, need fuel for a hike, and/or are price conscious, this is a good place to stop.
They also have one uni-sex bathroom here, so it's also a good place to come eat, drink something, and then use the restroom.
The food here is just okay -- it's nothing really to write home about. Most of the food here look like mass-produced, not super-fresh pastries: muffins, croissants, cookies, bars, etc. and definitely way more sweet options to savory, maybe 80% sweet to 20% savory. I don't think they bake anything here on premise (maybe some things) so despite a large selection of treats, it's not a bakery with fresh pastries. They definitely favor quantity over quality.
We got a tuna salad sandwich which was on a pretzel bun and I liked that combination of flavors and textures. The bread wasn't quite as mushy as other kinds of breads that get soggy quickly with tuna sandwiches, especially since the sandwiches here are pre-made.
The quinoa salad was a nice healthy surprise. It's pretty basic mixed with bell peppers and with a lemon dressing, but it was filling and healthy. The dressing is uber lemony so don't pour it all on at once, they must have zested 4 lemons into some olive oil for one serving of dressing.
Not sure I would make a special trip again to eat here but it was fine for an inexpensive lunch and way cheaper than eating at the actual Lake Louise. Just don't expect gourmet sandwiches and pastries and you'll be fine.
