Ok, if you go to the NH beaches, DO NOT MISS getting ice cream here! The flavors…oh my! The size of the SCOOPS…OH MY! The incredibly friendly and efficient staff (you local kids rock!). Let’s just say, you won’t be disappointed. The “baby” scoop is the size of a naval orange, the small scoop is the size of a small grapefruit and the large…not sure I saw that size but I imagine it to be quite impressive! All 5 flavors we tried over the course of 3 consecutive visits were delicious but can I just send out a rave for the Black Raspberry Oreo with HUGE Oreo chunks and the Cow Pie, a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate explosion of perfection? So many more flavors to experience that I can’t wait to go back! Go…you will not be sorry you did!

Absolutely delicious. They have my favorite flavor that I have a hard time finding (black raspberry Oreo) and it is so good. This place is definitely designed to get customers in and out quickly. And the staff was super friendly despite being so crazy busy. Will definitely be back

Decent ice cream, friendly service, and a good location. They are cash only, but if you don’t bring cash they have an ATM. Flavors we got were all very sweet and the serving sizes were generous. The small cup that I got was the biggest “small” cup of ice cream that I’ve ever seen. This wouldn’t be a problem, except that they won’t let you split a small into two flavors. I didn’t even want two flavors, but with how large the smalls are here it seems absurd to not allow them to be split into two flavors. I could be wrong, but I didn’t think the Oreo in the “Oreo” ice cream I got was real Oreos. They tasted more like the knockoff “sandwich cookies” than real Oreos, which I also like. Didn’t really take away from the experience, but it seems misleading to call it Oreo ice cream if they aren’t real Oreos. A few flavors my Fiancé got were supposed to have Oreos and Nutella swirls in them and we struggled to find Oreo bits or defined Nutella swirls in either of her flavors. It’s ice cream though, can’t be mad at something so delicious, but it is something to keep in mind. The convenient location on such a main road and variety of flavors make this place hard to pass up if you’re in the mood for ice cream and passing by. We’ll be back.

Totally didn’t expect the “small” size to be this big!! The monkey mess is a great blend of banana and chocolate flavor. Rum raisin is also great! Worth stopping by!!

I got Cow Pie -Brownie Batter with brownies and a Fudge Swirl. Oh my their fudge swirl is so delicious!!! Their sizes are rather large so be mindful!

When you're paying twice the price of premium ice cream from the store for the fun of going out, you kind of count on it being an enjoyable experience. It was not. The ice cream is fine with lots of flavors. This complaint is about my particular experience this evening: I didn't mind the super slow line (other lines were going twice as fast, but oh well). I wanted a "baby" size cone - which is plenty. But that's technically1 scoop - they wouldn't make it with 2 flavors (which I also wanted), so I ordered a small cone - 2 scoops. Asked the server if the scoops could be different flavors; she said yes; I chose the 2 flavors. After a long while she came back with a massive cone and said because it was 2 flavors it had to be a large. That's $8. I couldn't discuss anything without overtaxing the patience of the rest of the line. So I got to spend twice what I'd planned for the unpleasant experience of having to throw out half. Plus the paper holder that comes with the sugar cone was fused to the cone, so I couldn't eat the bottom of the cone - my favorite part - without eating paper. Lousy experience. Spoiled a nice evening.

What a gem in Rue, NH. Friendly and efficient staff that know how to move a line! The black raspberry ice cream is out of this world delicious.

The absolute best! You cannot go wrong. All their flavors are incredible. My fave is Albanian Baklava, which is coffee icream with big chunks of, yes, you guessed it, Baklava! A baby is nice, a small is alot and large is huge. Bring cash! Don't be indimidated by how full the parking lot is, the service is so on point, they'll be ready to take your order before you decided what flavor you want. 10 stars out of 5.

Came here when visiting my wife's family back in summer of 2023 and it was absolutely heavenly. Let's get into it... Ambiance - This was an outdoor only place at the time we visited. It looked like they had an indoor area, but it was not open to the public. Nothing else to write about the ambiance as you're pretty much outside in a large open parking lot. Service - The staff were very nice and friendly. Lots of smiles and overall good vibes from the staff. No complaints here. Food - The ice cream was incredible. We stopped here twice over the week that we visited and it was amazing both times. Honestly, I would have stopped here every day if I would have had the authority to do so. The portions were huge, the prices were very reasonable, and it just tasted so darn good. There's just something about homemade ice cream that hits right. Next time we go back to visit, I will return. It's the one place I still think about almost a year later.

Simply put, this place is awesome. So many flavors. Last visit i tried a small muddy sneakers in a sugar cone with jimmies. It was huge! My girl got a baby sized cup of peanut butter cup ice cream which was good too. I liked muddy sneakers more. 10.25 for a banana split.

This is my absolute favorite place to get ice cream. The scoopers are always so friendly and the servings are huge. There's usually plenty of parking and the lot is clean. There are always tons of flavors to choose from and the ice cream is home made.

Let me start by saying we have been going here for over 30 years. Sadly today makes us question if we will go back. The staff were incredibly rude. When we asked about trying a sample as they had a new flavor we were told they no longer did samples, surprising as we have been going for years and they used to do them but okay not a big deal. We then asked about the flavor since we couldn't try it, the employee rolled their eyes as if inconveniencing them and told us it was blueberry - that's it. We passed after that starky comment and ordered another flavor. While we were waiting for our order a gentleman came up to the window to explain that the "no samples" had nothing to do with her and that it's the new policy causing a scene and totally embarrassing us in front of lines of people after we had already moved on and tipped her so clearly we weren't taking anything "out on her" as he alluded to nor were we phased about it. The ice cream itself is great but the terrible customer service really overshadowed our experience today.

Great ice cream and so many different flavors. The funky panda was my favorite. Oreo with coconut. Girlfriend has peanut butter cookie dough and that was also awesome. It is cash only

Lago's has some pretty good ice cream which if I remember correctly it's all handmade here. I've been here plenty of times so now here I am finally writing a review!! lol They have so many different flavors to choose from it's pretty impressive. They use to sell food but not anymore. Their indoor seating is closed not sure if it's due to COVID or because they stopped serving food?? They have COVID precautions in place right now outside. The counter employee's take the ice cream orders & tell you how much you owe then another employee will take the money & give change as needed. They use these cute painted rocks for you to set your cash down on the counter & put the rock on top so your money doesn't get blown away & the employee dealing only with the cash transactions comes along to get the money. Right now they are only accepting CASH, but don't worry if you show up with none they have an ATM right on site. They have a rope in front of the windows to prevent customers from getting right up on the counter. They're instructions on where to stand & what to stand on. They still have their picnic tables over on the grass to sit down at but just seeing all that green grass & the woods right next to them it just makes me think of ticks since they're so bad right now. I went yesterday with my Mom & we couldn't even make it to the car with our ice creams due to them quickly melting & making a mess all over us...more so my Mom. The ice cream flavors have alway been very tasty. I don't have a favorite as I usually get something different every time I go. I've been coming here since I was a kid. They definitely don't' skimp on their ice cream. Even a baby or kid cone is a good amount. This place is my favorite place to stop for some ice cream. It's right up the street from my mother's & it can get pretty busy with long lines so prepare to wait if you happen to stop in during a busy time.

You have to try this place. Tons of flavors The only other ice cream I've had that has huge chunks of toppings in it (similar to Ben and Jerry's) All homemade The small.....is NOT small. It's freaking huge. It's basically a pint. You get a delicious product for a great deal Just GO!!

Awesome homemade ice cream...creamy and not too sweet! Lots of windows so no long lines and great prices! Try it!!! Will definitely go back! Lots of flavors to choose from! We all got different flavors and everyone was happy!

Ice cream quality is good. No samples. They were out of many flavors. Cash only. Not so friendly staff. I'll go back, simply because the ice cream is excellent...but the rest of the experience was not so awesome.

My fiancé grew up in Hampton and now lives in Atlanta with me. And he always talks about how this place has the best ice cream He was not lying! Huge portions and great prices. They make all of their flavors themselves too. Totally recommend stopping by and grabbing this to enjoy in the car with your windows down

I was on the area for lunch. Since it was a very hot day I made the " tough" decision to stop for some ice cream : - ) It had been some time since my last visit So I pulled in and noticed not much of a line. Well, if there had been a long one it wouldn't have made much difference. Today was definitely a day to hit an ice cream stand! The flavors are endless and some I would love to have tried. But I can't help but lean on the conservative side & it's rare that I try anything new. My flavor of choice today was cherry vanilla. I ordered the smallest cup. I was served a heaping cup of top quality vanilla studded with colossal dark cherries & I couldn't wait to dig in! Again, it was a very hot day . By the time I got back to my car it was really beginning to melt. No worries . I sat in my car with the air conditioning blasting and devoured every last drop. Perfect!

My favorite Ice cream of all time !!! Been going here in the summers as long as I can remember! Coffee Oreo , Cookie Monster, Kahului fudge brownie, salty sailor, m&m my top favorites but o have NEVER BEEN disappointed!

I crushed the Maine blueberry ice cream from the specials board. The small waffle cone is big enough to feed an army. Great place to grab some ice cream. I ate it too fast for a pic.

Lago's has the best ice cream in NH!! The staff were so professional, be sure to ask for Aimee!! We love her!

Had a sudden taste for ice cream, jumped on yelp to find the best one and boy did we!!! We passed by it pulled a u turn and the parking lot was packed!!! Plenty of parking but it is always a great sign! They make their own ice cream daily so many option and cute names! They had plenty of people working so the wait was nothing and we were ordering our happiness in no time !!!! I got the large Sunday with peanut butter cup ice cream and muddy sneaker and it was amazing !!! Muddy sneaker was white chocolate ice cream with a Carmel swirl and chocolate chips (to die for ) the peanut butter cup was amazing and the peanut butter cups were the perfect touch! The whipped cream was so good and they use crushed walnuts instead of peanut!!!! I thought it would be too much to finish but it was so amazing to stop! Before you know it I gained two pounds lol! Worth it by the way! There were so many options to choose from no one will be disappointed with this ice cream shoppe!

Lots of rules for this place. Not as nice as in the past. If you want to try multiple flavors of ice cream, you are generally out of luck. You can only mix flavors when you order a large ice cream. While the medium is plenty big, you can ONLY get one flavor. Strange also the way you pay for the order. You will get a price which is written on a piece of paper from one person. Then you put your money under a little rock on the counter. Then another person comes and takes the money and prepares the change. A strange experience. CASH ONLY. Not what I expected. Will not return.

It was okay, the line was long but it did go fast. The scoops are huge so just get the baby scoop. The ice cream itself was nothing special. I got the blueberry and raspberry chip.

It is So yummy every time with so many flavors to choose from. Lots of picnic tables to sit at or lawn space to lay your own blanket down.

They stopped doing fraps in 2020 because of COVID. 2021 they still aren't doing fraps because of the lines. I snapped this picture as I was leaving... (there were no lines). Ice cream is good, otherwise I would have gone 1 star.

We drove from to New Hamshire to Maine on Wednesday to go to the ocean. Shopping and Lago's for the best ice cream. They give you so much we did not need supper. It is farm grease and the coffee Oreo is so good. If you are on Rt one in Rye NH please stop and try it. I don't think you would be disappointed.

A very popular ice cream stand on the Seacoast with ample parking out in front. It was a very hot and sunny Saturday afternoon outside, so I pulled into the almost full parking lot for a frappe. Lago's serves up good homemade ice cream and yogurt using Hood cream plus they offer sundaes, splits, shakes (milk & syrup), frappes (milk & ice cream), floats, ice cream sodas, Polar Joe (coffee blend w ice cream), plus sugar free ice cream and sherbets. I got my coffee frappe ($4.75 tax included), which was thick and very creamy. There's picnic table seating outside and seating in the dining room which has a huge fan blowing in to cool off. I also found some coupons near the exit door fin the dining room for $1 off cheesesteaks at Barone's Steak Shack, located down the road. HOURS: 12PM-9PM daily

Wow! I loved my first visit! I had the s'mores ice cream. It tasted fresh delicious and it tasted like ice cream. The parking lot needs some work and so do the prices(around 4$ for the baby size!). Besides for that I recommend Lago's Ice Cream.

What did I do when I arrived here 10 minutes before closing time? Order a giant soft served ice cream cone of course! I finished the ice cream cone even before we arrived home and was so bloated by it that I didn't want to eat anything else. If I were to come back for a giant ice cream cone, I would!

I have been going there for many years but the new owners are the best! The Chocolate Walnut Ice Cream is awesome! It is not too chocolate like..it is not too rich but the best blend of Chocolate and Walnuts! They are honest people too! I left my purse there and they called and returned it (contents untouched of course). They were more than helpful in helping with the return.

Great ice cream, they have lots of flavors to try and during shark week on Discovery channel, they even have a special flavor! The establishment is CASH ONLY so come prepared with a wallet full of bills. If you forget to bring cash there is an ATM in the seating area inside the building. The portion sizes are pretty big and I can usually share a baby size with someone when I need a little ice cream fix. My favorite flavors are Cookie Monster, khalua brownie and black raspberry. I have yet to try soft serve, but thats next on the list. Plenty of parking spaces but it does get busy from time to time so they have overflow lots where cars can park for free.

I've been going to Lago's before it was Lago's. I went there in my teens and I'm now in my 70's. My husband who lived in Rye when he was a teenager as well also went to "The Big Scoop." Tonight we ordered Sundaes. Small ones. Because this place has a habit of piling on the whipped cream we asked for bigger cups to contain it as it has a nasty habit of dropping to the pavement. We were told it wasn't allowed, she could speak to the manager but... My husband who has dementia got his sundae with a tiny cup given to him to avoid a spill and before we got to the car he had pretty much dropped most of his sundae, not just on the pavement but on his cane etc. When we went back to the window to complain we were told that the manager wasn't there? How odd!! Are you really going to tell me that you can't give an elderly gentleman a bigger cup to avoid his losing his dessert because it's not allowed? Shame on you!! We will be spending our money at the Beach Plum from now on.

Vegan options!! Triple chocolate and Black Raspberry Oreo are the two flavors that they offer. Both very yummy. I would love to see them offer compostable packaging- that would really make me come more often. Also maybe a few more vegan options!!

I just had the weirdest and most disappointing experience at the ice cream shop I grew up with and have loved for years. As many Lagos lovers know, the sizes are HUGE. A kiddie cup is the size of a small beverage and can easily accommodate multiple flavors of ice cream. I know, because I have been requesting multiple flavors in a kiddie size for years and paying for a large (because their policy says they won't allow you to put two different flavors in the kiddie, even though it fits multiple scoops. I've let this slide thinking it's because their ice cream is great and I'm depleting two different flavors so they'll have to put effort into making two instead of one/price of labor.) For YEARS this has been no problem. Until today. I had the most bizarre and nonsensical rattling off of policy from the scoop girl and then manager about how I could no longer get two different flavors in the kiddie cup like i've been doing for years. Now, if this was about cross contamination and COVID, I would've accepted that answer. But the reason the manager gave me was literally "it's scoops to cup." Um, what? I want to pay you MORE money to put two different flavors of ice cream in a smaller size. I would've given them a $20! This is a time for our brains to engage and say, yes, there is a policy, but we're going to reexamine it because IT MAKES NO SENSE. I WANT TO GIVE YOU MORE MONEY FOR LESS OF YOUR DELICIOUS PRODUCT. I do not want two huge kiddie sizes of different flavors or one large because I'm trying to eat in moderation and most of us do not believe in wasting uneaten food. I'm sad and frustrated and hope Lagos reexamines there nonsensical policy OR reexamines their sizing (the "baby" is the equivalent for a small). The interaction and scolding I had for asking for my ice cream the same way I've had it for years because the wrong people were on shift soured me on going there for a while. And YES - there are far more important things going on in the world, but that's why we should just be able to get the ice cream we want in the size we want - especially if we're willing to pay for it.

Delicious ice cream and frozen yogurt! They don't skimp on fillings. Whether it be chips, nuts, cookies, dough, or whatever, they put a generous portion in the mix. We love Scotty Lago's Bronze Run, and black raspberry but all the flavors we tried have been great.

My happy place...wish it was open year round but probably best for my waistline that it's not

Always amazing! The Kahlua fudge brownie is always amazing! The staff has done a great job this summer of moving people through the lines as quickly as possible especially given the circumstances. We had a but allergy in our party and the team was so concerned about ensuring they did everything correctly, we were extremely appreciative.

Holy cow. And I do mean cow. If you love huge portions, go here. Ice cream was served in a large soda cup - and this was a small order at $4.25. Rum raisin flavor was good. But I loved their oreo cookie frozen yogurt. Tasted like Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor (except with oreos) back 15 years ago when B&J's was actually good. Fun stop which turned out to be our lunch!

Lagos is such a treat during the summer here in Rye NH. You can't not go. The variety of flavors is mind boggling. Every flavor is made there on premise. The quantity is huge. I ordered a "baby" size and I could hardly finish it. But it's unheard of not to. There's always a huge line but a lot of windows are opened so the wait isn't so bad. The ice cream is so creamy you can tell it's made fresh. Since it's only open in the summer, when it's close to closing for the season they give away the left over ice cream. Highly recommend this little gem whenever visiting here.

First time at Lago's tonight and the ice cream was absolutely amazing! I got a kiddie Cookie Monster. I think it was the most ice cream I've ever had in one sitting. It was ginormous for being a kiddie. Only complaint is that the only size that you can get more than one flavor is a large and I can't imagen how big that would be. I would think with such large portions and so many flavors they would need to let you pick more than one. But Cookie Monster was the right choice-- blue vanilla with HUGE bobs of Oreos and Chips Ahoy.
