"On my first afternoon outing to Laguna Chaxa I was rewarded with salt pans that attract three species of flamingos feeding on brine shrimp; the pastel-hued scene had a faint sulfurous scent, and we finished with sundowners at the edge of a canyon after a rare, brief sprinkle." - Nicholas DeRenzo
A very impressive lake with lots of birds to see including 3 different breeds of flamingos.

Incredible place where you can watch flamencos...many flamencos. There are clean bathrooms and the staff are really nice as well. During the track to the viewpoints, there are boards explaning the geography around and so on, which is really considerate.

This Places comes into your mind when you speak about Atacama desert. Went there with a Tour since you need a 4x wheel for reaching this place. Spend there 45 minutes and the sun is burning, so protect yourself.

A nice walk around through the salt flats and views of the lake with two types of flamenco. In the entry they had a jar with brine shrimp which was also fun to see.

The flamingos and reflections on the salt flats make Laguna Chaxa a magical stop in the Atacama - very quiet and otherworldly.

Fabulous reflections in this large salt lake. Great for photography. Plenty of flamingos and interesting salt flats surrounding the lake. Well planned paths so you don't ruin the landscape - or your feet!
We took an organized minibus tour to this lake and it was good value and had a good guide.
