"The Lāhainā Arts Society was formed in the 1960s by a group of Maui artists who used to hold informal exhibitions along the seawall and in the park next to the Pioneer Inn. After raising money from 10 local couples, the group established a gallery in Lāhainā’s old courthouse building and, later, a second space downstairs. Today, the nonprofit continues to be the gatekeeper for new artists on Maui, operating two galleries, holding regular art fairs, and teaching free weekly children’s art classes. Head to one of the fairs, now held in front of the Lāhainā Cannery Mall on weekends, to shop fine art, listen to live music, and watch hula dancers sway in the sunlight, or swing by the galleries to browse what’s new from your favorite artists."

Bought a beautiful sterling silver ring with a wrap of sterling around a setting in February 2020 and sadly I just lost it. I lost the artist's business card and would love to get in touch with her. I believe her name was Uma. I also purchased a necklace for my daughter.
Update 9/2020 pictured is my new opal ring created by Uma Silbey, m.a. Thank you Lahaina Arts for finding Uma and I'm loving my replacement ring.

Kirk and the rest of the gang at the LAS gallery are simply the best. Local art, historic building, and a perfect spot next to the harbor!

This is a great place to hunt for unique and locally made art. Lots of beautiful things that are much nicer than a generic plastic souvenir.

Yelp
Make sure you don't miss the Old Jail Gallery at the Lahaina Arts Society. Its downstairs and a must see. Really nice art and Artists to meet and talk story with. Just being in the space is a fun history lesson as well.

Yelp
Also called the Banyan Tree Gallery is spread over 2 floors of the Old Lahaina Courthouse. We stuck our heads around the door for a quick peek and stayed nearly 2 hours. There are some stunning pieces and all made by local artists who fund this gallery through a co-operative. It was a tough choice but I went home with 2 plates by Bob Hoenig and a pendant by Kai Pua. Andre, the Art Consultant, was very knowledgeable and generous with his time. Downstairs, in the jail house gallery, Amanda welcomed us and we left as friends. You must also check out Johanna's lei's - meticulously crafted out of ribbon. This is a dangerous place for your wallet, but you'll leave with a warm glow and great memories as well as a little piece of authentic Maui.

Yelp
This place is super cute and filled with amazing local arts and crafts by some high end artists. Paintings, prints, photography, as well as very cool glasswork and all other items all showcased here in the historic old courthouse/jail. It's just off the port and next to the giant famous tree. Save your money from the same ole souvenir store and support some local artists out here dreaming in paradise. We left with a small painting painted by a guy who hand writes a different random haiku on each piece and also a handmade clay Christmas ornament of a whale. Love both pieces and every time I see them in my home I am reminded of that cute little historic building turned local art gallery. Charming place, great setting. The lady that was working there was super nice and chatty too. Overall a great find.

Yelp
Located in the old courthouse, they have some really great items from local artists. I bought a beautiful pottery wall hanging and two pentants. Check it out!
