The food was wonderful! I'd say your definitely getting the quality your paying for. The creme brulee was certainly the best I've had, and the New York steak was cooked to perfection! Staff was wonderful as well. They were attentive and friendly even with how busy they were. Everyone was dressed in nice and clean clothing, but definitely more on the casual side. It fit the style of the restaurant quite nicely. Felt very "modern dinning meets Montana hospitality."

I’ve eaten a lot of hamburgers in my life and this is in the top 1%. So good. Flavorful. Cooked perfectly and absolutely THE best bun I’ve ever had. This hamburger is a knife and fork experience. My wife had the smoked brisket sandwich and it was every bit as delicious and expertly prepared and served. Our waiter, Bernie, was personable and prompt. Oh wait! Apple spice cake dessert was the perfect finish. The views. The location. The prices. All 5 ⭐️

You WILL NEED reservations for river view, but they have 8 bar-height tables in the bar. Local beer taps but local spirits are lacking. You will be impressed with the wine selection. Come for the steaks, not seafood. Our crab was overcooked. Clean and bright, great service with big portions.

Google
Amazing food highly recommended, we flew from California and this was the best place we dined in out of all the restaurants we visited in Montana! Everyone is super friendly and we even got free dessert from some Cali travellers we met at the restaurant. 🥰

After many years of living in three forks and driving past the restaurant... we finally had an opportunity to enjoy a date night here. The drive, and view are stunning! Literally, from the first bite of my salad, to the Ribeye dinner, and a slice of cheese cake, the food was exceptional! Our server was busy, but still great. Also, the owner is truly, such a wonderful human. I know that personally, and it also shows, in the quality of the restaurant as a whole. We dont go out much and certainly don't spend much when we do, but this was WELL worth the drive and money. We'll be back!! Thank you Phil for such a delightful experience! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had an amazing anniversary dinner at Lahood! We had driven by it on the way to Lewis & Clark caverns many times and loved that it had a remote riverside location. After reading reviews we made a reservation to ensure we had a river view table. It did not disappoint! We watched deer cross the river and sunset was gorgeous with all the windows showcasing it. I had the strawberry basil daiquiri and it was one of the most flavorful cocktails I’ve had. Pork belly appetizer was delicious. Dinner was delicious. My only request is slightly more privacy between tables if possible. Otherwise we really enjoyed it!

Google
The absolute best place. Service is always excellent, I've never had a bad meal, the wine list & cocktails are top notch and the prime rib is 100% worth the drive. And then there's the view...

Google
Food and drink was excellent in both quality and selection. Service was polite helpful and friendly. Hungarian mushroom soup was outstanding. Beautiful surroundings with full bar and immaculate bathrooms. Not cheap but well worth it. We highly recommend and will be back for fine relaxation and dinner.

Yelp
Service- excellent! Very attentive. Ambiance- simple-clean- Amazing views! Food- Delicious. Can't beat the rib-eye. The salads were fresh and delicious. Dessert... we had all of them! Highly recommend the cream and raspberries! Smoked old fashioned, good wine, great cocktails.

Yelp
Excellent food and very good service in a beautiful location. The steaks are some of the best in the area. I like the ambience of the bar side better than the restaurant side...but there's nothing wrong with the restaurant side. You can't go wrong here. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This restaurant surpassed my expectations in almost every dimension. Super casual atmosphere. The dining room is just a room, not even charmingly rustic. But the food! The details: Steak - best I've had in years. I got the 20 ounce ribeye and loved it. The chef was an expert and nailed temperatures. Good char too - not the cheap steakhouse grill marks nor the absurd overly-Pittsburgh of the fancy steakhouses - just right for me. We had a misunderstanding with my wife's steak on temperature (and the first piece of meat had a problem), so the chef remade it. No big issues. The second steak was not quite charred enough (to my eyes) but my wife was happy with it and said it was good. Sides: fries cut in house - excellent! Broccolini - al dente, very good. Salad: simple, fresh, well presented (watermelon radish slices as a pretty garnish) - Japanese garlic dressing very good! Desserts excellent also - the ice cream had a house made caramel sauce that was particularly good, but the Swedish creme was also great and the s'more cup was good. The wine - it's definitely a beer place, but I got wine because they had a couple of good bottles (genuinely good, the owner must care about this) at giveaway prices (approximately retail). I've never seen that before. The waitress was very nice - exceptionally nice - to my boys and very friendly. The manager was a gentleman. Just don't expect fancy and you'll be happy - expect honest, killer food and you'll be in the right place. They even sell vintage postcards of the state park cave! A delight! I WILL be back someday. Want to check out the bar!

Yelp
Truthfully, this should be a 4.5 stars but you cannot do 1/2 stars (Yelp, please fix that ). Please keep in mind, This owner kept the same chef and paid his employees throughout Covid and the time that the restaurant was closed. That is amazing! Because I am honest in reviews the reason being is because this new building is super loud and echoes...fix that and it's a full 5+ stars. But I'm not gonna drag it down by giving it 4 stars. That being said...my Aunt Joan and her husband Rob have come here for years (prior to the very unfortunate fire they experienced) they've always raved, as well as my Mom! I finally got to experience it for myself since they've opened again about 2 weeks ago. Phil, the owner is an absolute GEM. He remembered my Mom, was so welcoming and kind to me. That totally made up for the very vanilla look of the restaurant (please remember they just opened back up)...anyways. It's hard to get reservations here so call in advance!!! We got in (luckily) at 7:30pm and had a drink at the bar. A little bit about this bar, this was his fathers bar from a former bar that used to be in Butte, Montana... He took that bar refinished it, and is now using it in his restaurant. It is absolutely beautiful! Please pay your bar tab before you go to your table, that just helps the bartenders and waitresses keep track of things! My mom and I had the tenderloin tips, she had a salad and I had their chicken bacon, ranch soup. I also ordered their salmon and my mother ordered their version of the fillet which is bacon wrapped. We both shared the twice baked potato, and had their Swedish cream for dessert! Our food came out super fast and our waitress was ridiculously kind and friendly! We were told to try the Swedish cream, and she mentioned she did not know if there's any left, so I asked her to please, if there was any left, save us one, because that is what we were told we had to absolutely try. Anyways, the tenderloin tips are absolutely delicious. We got it with a gremolata but I actually prefer day with a blue cheese. My mom is not a big fan of blue cheese, so I was able to get that on the side and she had the gremolata while I had the blue cheese. It was absolutely delicious, the tenderloin tips were perfectly cooked and the sauces were amazing, this is slightly spicy, but a nice spice. We've now moved onto the salad, which had a huckleberry sauce, which is the only thing I tried and was delicious. I also had the chicken bacon ranch soup, which was very tasty. The bread that they give you is also very delicious however, I wish the butter was not cold when it came out. I prefer my butter to be spreadable. My mom is bacon wrapped tenderloin (which I guess has taken place of the fillet?) was perfectly cooked to a medium rare, the bacon was a little less crispy than we would've desired... It was more on the just cooked enough side, so we did not really eat that. My salmon was perfectly cooked and perfectly flavored with the huckleberry sauce! The twice baked potato was good, how we both decided we could do without that and hers probably taste a little better. But it was still very tasty. If you decide to get, that is a choice. The Swedish cream was amazing. It was very silky. It had a fruit sauce, and it was delicious! So you will not go wrong if you get that! All in all the food totally makes up for the fact that, while this is not a new establishment it's a newly built establishment. They don't have all the pictures they used to have.... they don't have all the charm yet, but Phil brings the charm, and his chef brings the food. Overall you will not be disappointed! So please go out of your way try this really awesome restaurant and make sure you tip your waitress really well!

Yelp
Always a favorite when coming to Montana. The fettuccine Alfredo with the steak is amazing. We also love the prime rib won tons. Service is great the view is amazing!

Yelp
Look past the basic attire and enjoy the place for what it is - an honest Montana steakhouse! We stayed at the Caverns state park and figured we had to head to Butte for a decent meal. I spotted a dozen Harleys outside and decided to look this place up on Yelp. Glad we stopped. I had a fantastic IPA and the filet mignon cooked medium rare which was generously cut and cooked to perfection. Salad was excellent as was the soup. My boy had the garlic chicken breast. Filled us up and we didn't have room for dessert. The price was terrific for the quality of the meat. Sides were basic but tasty. Service was friendly and the place had a nice mix of locals and visitors. I'd give it 5 stars if the sides were a bit fancier but otherwise I'd happily come back! Reminded me again to never judge a book

Yelp
Wonderful location along the Jefferson River, The old steakhouse burnt down and they have now rebuilt in a new location. View of the river from the dining room is wonderful. I had the hamburger steak which was covered with sautéed onions and mushrooms. Absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. Ambience in the dining room is very basic. The adjacent bar is laid out in a very strange way. Other members of my party had various entrees but strangely no one had the steaks!! Calamari and queso dip with chips was outstanding. Would go back just for the calamari.

Yelp
Great drink, food, specials, and view! Definitely worth it for a high quality dinner!

Yelp
Finally made it there after it's reopening, and couldn't have been more pleased. The ribeye was fantastic, the drinks were perfect, and our server, Michael, could not possibly have been better... He made the experience fun. We will be returning soon!

Brian M.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best steak I have ever eaten. The 20 oz ribeye was cooked to perfection and seasoned with a rub that was pure heaven. Even the fat was delicious. I can't wait to get back.

Lynda L.

Yelp
Excellent food and cheerful service. He restaurant is simple and clean but the food is very tasty and the prices are reasonable. One has a view of the Jefferson River and a pretty drive there.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Good steakhouse. My wife and I shared prime rib. It was plenteous, tender and tasty. The ambiance is very informal This is Montana. The service is very good.

Alice T.

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal after a cave tour at Lewis and Clark Caverns. The tenderloin was tender and so flavorful. It came with a nice salad and a side, The mushroom confit was delicious. Save room for the Swedish crème! The waitress was terrific. We just wish the deck which features a beautiful view, had an awning.

L S.

Yelp
I l loved this place before the fire. And give great kudos for the spirit to reopen. But....there needs to be some thought. They have a great future, but the bumps are plenty. The pork belly is wonderful, but the portion is tiny for the price. Our salads arrived 2 minutes before our entrees. Bad timing! The prime rib was good, but not outstanding for the price. Lacking in flavor. Got to step it up if you are going to charge big city prices. Noisy...needs warming up in the dining room. But, I know the owner will adjust and make this a great place. This visit was just blah for the excitement of getting to go there again.

Paula R.

Yelp
There was a mistake on our receipt from a previous visit to this rustic restaurant. We got a refund & a free drink from the owner at this great place. The view is spectacular & drinks, plus food is very good! We plan to visit this restaurant again & again! If you haven't been to Lahood Steakhouse you are missing out!

Duke H.

Yelp
This place is a testament to passion of ownership! Even with the Covid, this place was full all Friday night. Tables were appropriately spaced for social distancing (table were put on the dance floor. Served as many as prior to the apocalypse. Prime rib topped off a nice house made salad and house made blue cheese dressing. Definitely a local favorite. All sides are in house and one could take a summer to sample the whole menu!! Dare ya! Swedish cream for dessert because I didn't know what it was, super. All the desserts are home made. I guess that's Montana for you! Trying a local breakfast place tomorrow, will confirm that!!! Say hi to Phil when you visit.

Yelp
Best steak I've had in a long time, cooked to absolute perfection! The kids had the halibut fish and chips which I snuck a bite and it was amazing...the tartar sauce rivaled that of the world famous fish and chips in Homer, AK. Phil has poured his heart and soul into this place and it shows more with every visit. Cami waited on us and was an absolute sweetheart. I can't say enough good things about our visit tonight! Thanks to the entire staff for a great night out, we are already looking forward to our next visit

Yelp
Best kept secret in cardwell. We enjoyed prime rib...sooooo good. Also their rolls are to die for. Great place and great service.

Jumble J.

Yelp
Somehow my review from early July was removed, so I am posting again. Hopefully this will help folks that are going to this place expecting good food and service. After seeing a bunch of good reviews we decided to stop in for a meal while passing through the area. Man, do I wish I paid more attention to the recent reviews before wasting my time and money! We were made to feel like we were imposing when asking questions, the food took FOREVER to be served and then it was barely warm. A big waste of money!

Reed J.

Yelp
We drove an hour from our house to try out the steakhouse. The appetizers were fantastic as was the rest of the food. The reason for the three stars was the service. I definitely understand that there are a lot of places that are understaffed at the moment. There were times when there was not one waitress in the entire dining room for 10 minutes. A simple explanation that we might not get our waters refilled or the drinks that we asked for for a while would have gone a long ways.

Krystal T.

Yelp
I've been to La Hood a few times on both the bar and restaurant and haven't ever left disappointed... Always a nice treat and a beautiful drive.

Gail S.

Yelp
Wow! First time there and was impressed by the quality of food and drinks not to mention desserts. Everything was excellent including the service. I can't wait to bring others here to share our dining experience. There was even a woman singing in the bar with her guitar and she had a lovely voice. Can't wait to go again when we can sit outside!!

Yelp
Very good prime rib and BBQ ribs. Excellent service. A little out of the way but worth the drive. Just down the road from Lewis & Clark caverns

J D.

Yelp
Came across this restaurant while camping and decided to give it a try. I've never been in a restaurant that doesn't offer a kid menu or kids options, and I'm not the only one because the table next to me made similar comments. My steak came out undercooked and then of course over cooked when I sent it back. It was tough, and didn't have a good flavor for a almost $30 steak you can color me unimpressed. My sons shrimp where hard to peel and my daughters chicken was over cooked. For the amount of money I spent on this meal I would have expected a lot more.

Suzie L.

Yelp
Great Montana steak house. Genuine staff fast friendly just what you would expect from small town Montana.
google avatar

Wesley B.

Yelp
I love the steak sandwich. Best deal this side of the Mississippi. Twice baked and soup are always good as well. If Sam is bar tending be nice to her or she may get feisty.

David N.

Yelp
Excellent. A true steakhouse and bar. This is not a fancy pancy city fine dining steakhouse, this is what a true steakhouse is. Good simple food cooked to perfection. Go for the steaks, leave in a food coma.

Katie B.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and works hard to make sure you are well taken care of. The menu is well priced and everything is cooked to perfection. I usually have the prime rib and or the coconut shrimp. I have never been disappointed with a visit here. In addition, the drive to the restaurant is spectacular! I've seen bears swimming across the river, and countless deer. Great place for a date night!!!

Yelp
Had the beef Wellington. It was good. Pretty convenient place to go if you are out on the Jeff or headed out toward the flats.

Rita C.

Yelp
My favorite place to eat. When company arrives we always make sure to visit LaHood. Never had a bad meal or Margarita. The service is wonderful. Just an all-around great group of people!
