Incredibly rude staff — a real disservice to Lai Chan’s legacy.
I greeted the staff member with a friendly “hello,” but she was immediately dismissive. When I asked about the fabric content of the dresses, she simply replied “tweed” and then looked me up and down condescendingly.
Anyone with basic fashion or textile knowledge knows that tweed is a weave/style, not a material. It can be wool, cotton, acrylic, or blended fibres. Not knowing this is one thing — but being rude and arrogant while giving incorrect information is another.
What’s worse, she later claimed the dress was cotton when the fabric clearly looked and felt like polyester. There were no material labels on the garment either.
It’s disappointing to see a boutique associated with such an iconic local designer being represented by staff who are uninformed, unhelpful, and unnecessarily rude. It reflects poorly on the brand and the legacy it’s supposed to uphold
