We stayed here because the Gyeongpo Marathon starts right in front of Rakai Resort, and it‘s a great place to stay with kids.

I had a wonderful stay at Lakia Sandpine Resort in Gangwon. The rooms were spacious, clean, and offered a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape—perfect for a relaxing escape. The resort facilities were well-maintained, and it also features a well-equipped convention centre, making it an ideal choice for conferences and business events. A peaceful and comfortable place to unwind in nature, while also catering to professional gatherings. Highly recommended for both leisure and corporate stays.

Lakai Sandpine Resort was exactly what I needed—peace, comfort, and a beautiful stretch of coastline just steps away from my room. Located in Gangwon-do, near the East Sea, this resort offers a rare combination of natural beauty, modern comfort, and warm hospitality. From the moment I arrived, I felt a deep sense of calm. The property is spacious, clean, and surrounded by lush pine trees, which makes the name “Sandpine” feel incredibly appropriate. The sound of waves crashing on the shore in the distance, the fresh ocean breeze, and the scent of the pine forest create a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. My room was large, well-equipped, and had a partial sea view that made mornings especially refreshing. The bed was cozy, and I appreciated the small thoughtful details—like slippers, a welcome drink, and easy access to the beach. It’s not a flashy luxury resort, but it has everything you need for a comfortable and peaceful stay. The resort’s beachside walkway is perfect for early morning strolls or late afternoon reflections. And it’s only a short drive to nearby attractions like Naksansa Temple and Sokcho city, making it a great base for both relaxation and exploration. What really stood out to me was the serenity. Unlike crowded tourist hotels, Lakai Sandpine has a quiet, almost retreat-like atmosphere. I found myself disconnecting from the noise of daily life and reconnecting with nature and myself. If you're looking for a beachfront retreat that offers both simplicity and soul, Lakai Sandpine Resort is a place I’d recommend wholeheartedly.

Really cozy and nice Japanese style rooms. Hot springs in the basement was nice although you can’t get the full benefit during winter as the outside is closed. Service was great and breakfast was nice as well.

We were in Gangneung for a wedding. This worked out very well. We had a 3 bedroom / 3 bath apartment. The View was terrific! The only issue was that the furniture wasn't comfortable. We enjoyed several meals at the different restaurants. The place was fairly empty but I bet it is packed in the summer.

Shampoo was empty and the heating system wasn’t working properly.. Need a better instruction on how to use the induction. Spent 40 mins to boil the water to make ramen.

Stopped for brunch watching the nearby sunrise at the beach which was on my bucket list. They had an English menu for us, the food tasted so good I am still thinking about it at random times, the drink I fell in love with, I wish I remembered the name, was put into a private lounge which we didn't ask for so was a lovely surprise. Absolutely beautiful view, worth going even just for the food, we felt very welcome.

The resort itself is amazing. The resort rooms are clean, private, and have access to probably he best views in the area. The resort is also structured for convenience, with a few restaurants (although didn't get to try), convenience store, game room, swimming pool, spa, etc. The only downside is the staff. They're friendly and they try their best, but they're just not very informed. They need more training to match the quality of the resort.
