Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge

We had an absolutely dreamy holiday here. The hotel is stunning, beautifully maintained, and has an atmosphere that lets you relax from the very first moment. Everything feels thoughtful, harmonious, and truly high quality. What stood out most was the exceptional service: you can tell there’s a strong system behind it—never scripted, always genuinely warm and attentive. The entire team is incredibly friendly, respectful, and consistently focused on making guests feel truly welcome. Every interaction felt sincere, as if the hospitality comes straight from the heart. A special thank you to Toky: he was consistently kind, polite, and attentive, and you could really feel that his service is heartfelt and genuine. He helped make our stay truly unforgettable. We had a perfect experience overall, would happily return, and can highly recommend this hotel.

We did spend our last days of this year at Lakaz and what an amazing experience. The location is beautiful, in the middle of the nature, birds and flowers every where. We had an all inclusive private villa package, which allowed us to relax and enjoy. The location has a small SPA, where you can enjoy massages as well as yoga lessons during specific days in the week. The famous view bar is very popular, good to book a table. Everyone at the lodge is friendly, service with a smile and the food was fabulous. We would love to be back soon!

This is our second visit to this fabulous hotel.|Set in the rain forest, it offers a unique experience, although the weather can be unpredictable - last year full sunshine, this year rainy, but that does not detract from the stay.|Last year we had a sea view suite, and this year we decided to stay closer to the main buildings, in a garden suite - 'Trochetia' This suited us better as instead of having to rely on a buggy (or a long walk) we could walk to the restaurant and bar.|Our room offered a large bedroom, complete with mosquito net, sofa, table and chair as well a well stocked tea and coffee making station, and a mini bar. The bathroom was large with good lighting , and outdoor shower, as well a separate toilet. Fluffy bathrobes are provided, essential for getting to and from the shower - especially in the rain.|The suite had a large veranda complete with pool and sun-loungers, table and chairs and a sofa.|The restaurant offers a buffet style breakfast, with cooked to order eggs, and the evening meals are wonderful, using fresh local ingredients they offer a varied menu.|I would suggest that you go 'all inclusive' as this also includes beer and soft drinks, as well as lunch - should you need it. It also includes a massage and laundry service - one per visit. We also had canapes delivered to our suite just prior to our evening meal - a nice touch.|I had a massage, and it was the best that I have ever had. She was very proficient and had just the right touch. With the forest surrounding the room, it was a perfect way to unwind and relax.|Staff - they are caring, helpful, efficient and always smiling. We would like to thank Jeremy in particular for treating us like long lost friends. It was clear that he remembered us from last year as did a couple of the other members of staff, whose names I have sadly forgotten. It is the staff as well as the location that make this hotel so very special.|Theirry (?) was excellent as front of house, making the time to talk to everyone almost everyday.|In a nutshell, you cannot go wrong staying here, it is a beautiful hotel run by beautiful people. Despite the rain, and the many mosquito bites, we would love to return and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone considering a visit to Mauritius.

We were welcomed to Lakaz Chamarel with the words, ‘welcome home’, and they weren’t lying. This place is a bit special, even the drive in through the gates is breathtaking. The location, the grounds, the room, the lovely friendly staff, the food and the general atmosphere of the place are something special. We had five days at the end of a three week holiday here and we had big plans to get out and see even more of the island while we were there. In the end we hardly left the hotel, such was the magic and luxury of this place. We can’t wait to return!

We spent part of our honeymoon at Lakaz Chamarel and absolutely loved it! The staff are so kind and genuinely make you feel like family. The location is amazing - right in the mountains with a real jungle vibe, but also incredible views over the island and ocean. Watching the sunset from the view bar was one of our favorite moments! Our lodge was super cozy and beautifully designed, with nice touches like an outdoor rain shower and homemade natural cosmetics. Everything was spotless and well cared for. All in all, an unforgettable stay - we’d definitely recommend Lakaz Chamarel to anyone visiting Mauritius!

This was my 3rd stay. It remains a unique and authentic Mauritian experience very different from the classic beach resorts on the Island. Service is excellent and food v good quality - especially local cuisine.|Stayed in Piton Canot Suite which has the best view ( bar none) of any location on the island.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lakaz Chamarel. The room was beautiful and spacious and the surroundings felt peaceful. The location is stunning and we really enjoyed going out and exploring the area - the hotel offers complimentary bike hire which we would recommend taking advantage of, as well as visiting the View Bar at sunset. The service was also great and everyone was very friendly.

Words cannot truly describe the beauty of this property. It is very well managed, set right in the middle of nature, and supported by a super friendly team. We genuinely enjoyed our stay here—the rooms were spotless, well maintained, and extremely comfortable. The only disappointment we faced was related to the food. We had a half-board plan, and when we specifically asked whether it covered any item on the menu, we were told yes. However, we were later charged for two items, which had not been clearly communicated to us in advance. Even after bringing this up, the issue wasn’t addressed, which was disappointing. Apart from this, we really enjoyed our overall experience at Lakaz.
