"Lake 69 Lake 69 is a large aquamarine lake at 15,256 feet (4650 meters) above sea level. It lies at the end of the Demanda Valley, the continuation of the Llanganuco Gorge. The lake's pure color and crystalline waters lend this place a near-mystical beauty. Getting here is no easy feat, with a cold, four-hour trek at high altitude, but the view is well-worth the journey. If that doesn't sound spectacular enough, a large waterfall crashes down into the lake from the glacier above."

Did it in mid March 2025. Collectivo rides were organized by a tour company through my hostel (Alpes Huaraz). 3 hours drive with breakfast stop. Hike up support challenging due to altitude. Rainy, cold, muddy. Check out the AllTrails app with it's altitude profile to get a clearer idea. Well worth it.

It's a gorgeous, breath taking colorful lake in the Andes mountains of Ancash, Perú. You must book a tour with a local agency in Huaraz and they'll provide transportation and guidance for 50 soles. You must pay another 30 for the entrance fee. If you plan to go to other places of the national park, you should buy the 3 day pass for 60. The hike can take from 2-3 hours on the way up and 1 to 2 hours coming back. Try to get used to the height before going here because you'll get sick otherwise. Also, take snacks and lunch with you since there are no restaurants around. There are more lakes on the way so have your camera ready!!

Absolutely fantastic - the kind of places that is definitely better irl than in any instagram adultered post. The hike up is ok, the views are beautiful, and the last bit psycho torture :) but the moment you see the plaque with the name of the lagoon and the lagoon behind it.. it is just the reason everyone hikes. We were lucky with the weather, but only for a few minutes. The clouds settled in quite fast. If you go on an organised tour from Huaraz, get ready for a long three-hour drive to go and another 3 hours back, with half of it in very bad and bumpy roads.

LAGUNA 69 has the most amazing views. Your trek to this lake will give your eyes the beauty of creeks, rivers, cascades, waterfalls and fauna of the area. Get ready to trek 5.1 miles to reach it, but the journey is so worth it. Enjoy the cool breeze and the sun rays of the day! 🇵🇪 ☀️ 🏔 💕 🗻 🌄

One of the best things I've seen on my trip around south America. I had been told good things about laguna 69 and I was not disappointed. The scenery was stunning and I was amazed at how quite and tranquil it was. I'd definitely recommend coming here as it's such an stunning bit of nature!

What a beautiful tour (approx. 7 km hiking from 3900m to 4600m)…the views all along the way are breathtaking and the final arena around the Laguna 69 is the highlight. There are quite an amount of people there and quite some who underestimate the elevation. For well trained and acclimatized people it should be around 2h30 to get up there.

Really good walk, took us around 2 hours and 15 mins. Well worth the effort once you get to the Laguna. Cost us 50 soles to go on a tour from huaraz and 30 soles to enter the park!
