This is a good spot to spend a day in the summer - the park is a very manageable size to walk around and they have a handful of good attractions. Boulder dash is by far the most impressive coaster! If you have a season pass you bought online that you need to redeem for a physical card, or if you want to redeem a bring a buddy ticket, be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes at guest services. The line moved incredibly slow and was by far the longest line we waited in all day. The other big negative was what a huge rip off the dole whip is at the Main Gate Creamery - the “Large cup” is $9, we received the smallest cups of dole whip plopped into a tiny saucer. The employee working there also seemed like he had better things to do than serve 2 cups of dole whip. The employees at the parking area, guest services, and the rides, were all wonderful and very welcoming/inviting. The park was very clean and the Main Street area was very bright and vibrant. They added wait time signs at the entrance of each ride which is a nice touch and gives you an idea of how long you’ll wait in line so you can plan accordingly. It is the oldest theme park in America, but it has a nice charm to it and they’ve done an incredible job maintaining the park throughout the years. Parking is easy and they have a huge lot very close to the park - less than 5 minutes from the exit to our car.

This park has a good number of rides that are suitable even for toddlers, which we really appreciated. However, I cannot say the same about the cleanliness and hygiene of the food establishments inside the park. Last week, my children and I had hamburgers at Wildcat, and we have since been suffering from stomach pain, diarrhea, and high fevers. We sincerely hope the park management takes food safety more seriously moving forward.

This place is a local attraction theme park in a great wooded environment. Not super packed, but we'll visited. Great place to go out with the family & kids. Camping & a water park are also at Lake Compounce. Very easy parking within reasonable distance from park. The park is well hidden by the tree-line surrounding the park.

It was beautiful here. I wish there were more rides for toddlers. We had been to Six Flags the previous weekend, but I would choose to go back to Lake Compounce over Six Flags due to shorter wait times, better layout, more shade, and better seating.

Google
A lot of fun! If you’re expecting Six Flags, just go there! This is not comparable but it’s still local fun with exciting rides! My daughter enjoyed Phobia, Boulderdash, the log ride where it splashes you with water at the end (can’t remember the name of it!), Dead Drop I believe it’s called, and Wildcat! The water park doesn’t open till Memorial Day weekend, so I can give an update on that come time! My husband & I shared a $19.99 bucket of fries with chili and cheese! They were so good! You can refill the bucket (one visit, not multiple!) for only $9.99!

The 1st and 2nd lanes are for the platinum and gold members. I would suggest getting out of the lane and drive straight towards the entrance(I have seen people driving on the oncoming lane too). Which is for the general public. Pay for the parking and enter quickly. Don't get stuck in traffic like everyone else.

Tatiana Hernandez

Google
This park is similar to Six Flags but older a little bit . Has water rides also and you can buy tickets in advance with admission and meal included for very good prices . Nice parking lot area and installations were clean and staff was very friendly!!

Today, I spent a very pleasant and happy day there with my good friends. The projects there are all fun. I like it very much. But there are more people at ordinary times. Therefore, the queue time for the amusement ride will be longer. The price of food there is relatively high. This park does not support cash payment. The good news is that cash can be converted into cards there. If the money in the card is not used up, it can also be used in other places. I will always remember when I was in this park.

Yelp
This review is for the Holiday Lights event at Lake Compounce. This is the oldest operating amusement park in the U.S. and it opened in 1846. It's 365 acres and located in Bristol and Southington, CT. The body of water located in the park is the Lake Compounce; there is a beach at the lake and a water park. The name of the lake came from a native American who signed a deed over to the settlers; Chief John Compound, who was from the Mattatuck-Tunxis tribe. There are 44 attractions, 5 rollercoasters, and 13 water rides. Wildcat is the 14th oldest wooden rollercoaster in the world. They also have a newer award winning wooden rollercoaster called Boulder Dash; this has been named the #1 wooden rollercoaster in the world for 5 years. The historic Lake Compounce Carousel was built around 1890 and moved to the park in 1911. In December, they host the Holiday Lights event which runs through December 31. It's a fun event for children and adults. They deck the park with lights and have the tallest Christmas tree in CT, which is 100 ft tall. There were plenty of rides, games, and activities. Some activities include letters to Santa, DIY snow globe, and personalized ornaments. There's an opportunity to visit Santa, holiday characters, and storytime. There are some dining options onsite such as Johnny Rockets, a food truck, and dining hall. The prices were high which is typical for amusement parks. I've read that people bring their own food/drinks and would go eat it in the car and go back into the park after. We went on a Saturday evening which was pretty busy but not too overwhelming. There was a parking booth, large parking lot, and attendants showing people where to park. Upon entering the park, you can't miss that beautiful large Christmas tree. The restrooms were plentiful and clean. There are ticket booths and the lines moved pretty quickly. The rides were plentiful, cute, and fun for the kids. It was very cold and in the teens; there were some fire pits if you want to warm up. The lines for the rides were short and quick; the longest was the train ride. We were there for 3.5 hours and left right before it closed. We didn't get to ride all the rides but felt like we got our money's worth. Overall, my family and especially my child enjoyed the the park. This is definitely going to be a family tradition going forward. Also, I can't wait to check it out in the summer and will provide another update.

Yelp
We came here for the first time because it was Phantom Fall Fest. I would suggest buying tickets online before going. If you pick your specific day, it's $20 cheaper. It's $30 for parking which I'm not sure why. I guess you can't escape paying extra when you go anywhere. Cashless so make sure you have a credit or debit card for parking. There are 4 haunted houses to go in. One was boring and not scary. The other three were fun. I don't scare easily but they definitely put effort into it. Overall it was a lot of fun. It is the oldest amusement park in the US. Lots of fun rides, games and concession stands. Water rides are open during the summer. They have a variety of Pepsi products that are free while you are there. Overall a great value for a few hours of fun.

Yelp
Did you know Lake Compounce is America's first amusement park? That's a fun fact! I have visited Lake Compounce as a kid with family and for school field trips. Within the past few years after celebrating its 175th anniversary, the park has been undergoing a transformation. From the rollercoasters Wildcat and Boulder Dash getting new tracks to enticing the foodie community with attractive eats, Lake Compounce changes do not go unnoticed. They even have scheduled live entertainment on a floating stage on the lake. They are definitely trying to make Lake Compounce a summer destination. On my most recent visit to Lake Compounce with family, it was a busy summer Saturday. Luckily, it wasn't too hot, but there are a few pockets to escape the sun. The rides posted wait times, most were 45min or less. Most people are over in the water park area. I prefer to stay dry and go on tamed rides like the ferris wheel. They have a wide range of rides from kiddie, moderate, and thrilling. There were a few rides closed while we were there like the popular Thunder Rapids. My family was very disappointed because it's one of their favorite to-do's. The food options were sprinkled throughout the park. They are trying to step of their game with instagram worthy meals like rotating loaded fries, unique topping pizza, and crazy funnel cakes. There is a Johnny Rockets within the park, and special spots serving up Del's Lemonade, Dole Whip, and Dippin' Dots. The prices are what you'd expect from a theme park. I got myself one of the instagram-able food options--The Unicorn Milkshake. It was a vanilla shake blended with rainbow sprinkles, topped with whipped cream, a large waffle cone, and rock candy lollipop. It was $12 and I enjoyed this fun treat. So far I love the changes happening around Lake Compounce, but there is still a lot of work to be had. Some of the employees did not want to be there and it showed. The flow of guest traffic could be more efficient. For example, all guest exiting through a small gift shop, is a Park Operations nightmare!Besides these notes, my family still had a good time overall. I hope to attend Phantom Fest or Christmas spectacular Holiday Lights someday... It might be beneficial to invest in a season pass for next year.

Kim S.

Yelp
Holiday Lights 2024 was awesome. We went the day before New Years Eve and it wasn't crowded at all. The place was beautiful the staff were friendly, especially the dressed up characters. They played great music. The kids were able to go on rides with no long wait times. I lived the dance party area. The decor was perfect! Can't wait to visit during the summer. Parking was $10 +tax. NO CASH for parking not sure about in the park. A new Christmas tradition.

Yelp
Use to come here when was younger and always had a good time with family. I haven't come here in quite a while. Recently came here for a company outing and it was not too bad. Parking was good even though it was packed. The walk from parking lot to park was not too bad. The park was pretty clean for a packed summer day. I was disappointed some of the rides were down. We were looking forward going on the Thunder Rapid but it was closed that day. But I got to go on a new ride called Phobia Phear. That was a great ride if you twist and turn roller coasters. The food at the park was pretty expensive. I had a regular size lemonade for 9 bucks. It was good but not worth 9 bucks. I also got a kid size ice cream for 10 bucks and it tasted like more ice than cream. End up throwing half of it away. It was a long walk to the pavilion where the company picnic was held. The train was packed and took long to get there. The food that was provided was okay and expected from an amusement park. The burgers were really dry but the hotdogs were good. I was disappointed they didn't have veggie burgers as advertised in their package. Some of the guests wasn't able to eat due to that reason. And yes, I did ask an attendant about the veggie burgers and they said no. They also didn't replenished the food as quickly as they should. Overall had a nice time with friends and family. Enjoy the rides we were able to get on. It's a great place to bring kids to have a fun day.

Sharm S.

Yelp
We had a great time at Phantom Fall Fest! 4 haunted houses, rides, games & spooky themed food. My first time going and it was very cute. They do Fall Fest every weekend until Oct 27. It is pricey but you can get 50% off if you book online. I thought the mummy candy apple was so cute! I saw kids and groups of all ages last night.

Kathy W.

Yelp
Former annual pass holder. Did not renew, partly because something was always broken or down for maintenance (looking at you, Thunder N Lightning). My son enjoyed the waterpark, but the rest of the park was just slightly above average.

Kelly P.

Yelp
I haven't been here in about five years. It really went downhill if you have little ones. They took away the huge dinosaur walk through, the kiddie indoor train, the bumper cars. The "arcade" that replaced it has like 5 games, and you need tokens to even play - which the token machine was down. Not sure when it became like six flags with over an hour wait for rides but it was crazy. Hugely overpriced food ($20 for a burger only at one place). The waterpark area was fun for them at least and is included with admission. They need a good clean down on the rides though some were pretty rough. Older kids and adults probably can have a decent time here. I'd recommend for kids under 10 to just do Quassy

Marsha N.

Yelp
As a caveat, I used to work here every summer back in the early aughts. I know what it used to look like and tricks of the trade like not opening everything up unless the park attendance was commensurate to the level of staffing required. The cost for adult tickets is now about $55 each. We came with one child that is 43 inches so she couldn't go on about half of the rides. However, we didn't run out of things to do and see. We arrived about 1130am and left around 4pm. We chose ahead of time not to do the water park. Zoomerang wasn't running. And Phear coaster didn't start until running the afternoon. The staff in general seems a little lackadaisical. For example, the turnstile attendants and the kiddie coaster stopped working right before it was our turn. Instead of loudly announcing as soon as she realized, so we could move elsewhere she waited until her replacement staff member came and did it for her. Food for 2 adults and 1 child at Nathan's came to $50 for lunch. I do like that they have wait time estimator. However, the estimator for Ghost Hunt said 35 mins and it was actually a 3 min wait. Only one car of Boulderdash was operating. I'm so sad that the SkyRide (chair lift) was taken down in 2017. That had been such a beautiful, calm ride back in the day. I recommend bringing a backpack with snack and water bottles, that way you save on time and money. Also a stroller or beach wagon even for kids up to 5. I easily did 10,000 steps during our stay. I think next time we will plan to spend more time and do the water park.

Allison C.

Yelp
We always have a fun time when we come to Lake Compounce, whether it's during the summer, Halloween, or Christmas-time! We visited on Fourth of July with friends, and while the park was packed we definitely made the most of it. There's a lot of new food items to check out and we were big fans of the dole whip from Main Gate Creamery. Line times were accurate as they were displayed. I'm sure we'll be back soon!

Louise V.

Yelp
Last time I will visit. Prices on everything are sky high. Parking was $30! Just to park my car!! That's a few dollars shy of admission ticket! My car is not going on any rides! Ticket price was ok, $34.95 for adult, about $30 for kid. All food and drinks were minimum of $15 each, with exception of an $8 hotdog. And the entire park is cashless! So bring your credit card. The water park is fun but the water is cold. Lockers are expensive too, anywhere from $16 - $23. The amusement park rides are fun and wait time in line is not bad. But the prices are just too high for a return trip anytime soon.

Yelp
First, the things I liked: -Easy to walk from parking to park -Park was clean, nice landscaping -Water park had plenty of rides and the lake -Lots of rides for very young kids -Plenty of rides for teens and adults and a good mix for the thrill seekers and roller coaster lovers to the more mellow Ferris wheel and haunted house fans. What I did not like: -Few food choices. No healthy options. VERY EXPENSIVE. -Management of park wasn't great. Poor decisions about certain basic things such as signage (confusing), lines (ex: one line we were redirected us using a trash can someone moved into the roped line which confused everyone and sent the crowd in the wrong direction - frustrating), untrained staff (several times we heard someone apologizing that a staff told a guest something that wasn't accurate or being rude to a guest), lack of planning/stock (it was in the 90's and food stands were out of bottled water, out of icecream, they ran out of certain sodas in the soda fountain - they were out of a lot of things)! Tips: -Bring in your own food and drinks in a cooler -our kids were enjoying the wave pool when they blew a whistle and closed the water park at 6pm immediately everything shut off and staff started doing training excercise and it felt abrupt and honestly, a bit off putting. Be prepared for the water park to close earlier than the rest of the park. -Purchase your tickets online before you go for a discounted price and hold onto your wallet when you get there everything is overpriced. Everything. -if it's summer, wear a hat and sunblock. Bring sunblock to reapply after water park, water shoes and towels.

Yelp
We're grateful for making WONDERFUL memories at Lake Compounce, Bristol, Connecticut. With an 1846 opening, it's the oldest continuously operating amusement park in the U.S , now spanning 365 acres. We loved using our season passes this summer when we enjoyed every minute! With this summer's sweltering hot weather, we enjoyed countless ways to keep cool at Lake Compounce's water park, Crocodile Cove, Connecticut's largest water park. Yesterday our friends beat the heat when taking on the towering Venus Vortex slide. There were plenty of smiles and laughs in the two fun wave pools. Of course, we all enjoyed a family favorite - lazy river tubing. What fun to see JOY in the sweet faces of our little friends as they cooled off at Crocodile Cove. Last weekend we enjoyed another great getaway to the thrills and chills at Lake Compounce. My husband Dave and I, retired teachers in our 70's, invited a family with 3 youngsters and a baby to join us for rides, slides, lunch, laughs, and water fun at America's first amusement park. A WONDERFUL time was had by all. For our friends needing to experience speed on big, bold rides, Lake Compounce's big roller coasters fit the bill this summer. There's the intensely thrilling Boulder Dash, a 5-time winner of the World's Best Wooden Coaster award. Plus, there's the iconic Wildcat, the park's original wooden coaster, now with a new track that's so much smoother. For upcoming visits, they're looking forward to experiencing the inverted fun of steel coasters Phobia Fear and Zoomerang - with loops and speed that thrill the bravest among us. Hats off to our friend who took our granddaughters on some of these scary rides this summer. Our little friends enjoyed the BIG delights at Kiddie Land with 9 kid-sized rides. We got a kick out of watching them drive the bumper cars, soar on the backs of Dumbo elephants, take the wheel of a classic car, ride the colorful balloons, or try the kiddie coaster. With carousels, swings, and rides just the right size for them, the kiddos announced how they were having the best time ever. Hurray! Since the moderate or intense rides are not for everyone, this summer we welcomed milder attractions to enjoy with our guests. Using laser guns in the Ghost Hunt building, we zapped the haunted visitors at Bleakstone Manor. We took rides on the classic Ferris Whgel , carousel , and little red train . Together we floated down the refreshing lazy river in our plastic tubes snd cooled off at CT's largest wave pool. On Saturday nights in July, we enjoyed family-friendly concerts performed on a floating stage, followed by a fireworks display over the lake. We are GRATEFUL for all the pluses of Lake Compounce -- a safe environment, fun rides for all ages, friendly & helpful staff guest relations reps who truly listen and respond, the lovely setting tucked in the green hills, a swim in either the lake or the amazing wave pools, organized sections with fun music, fireworks & concerts in July, delicious pizza, Crock Pot buffet, our free fountain drinks, season pass parking, but most of all, a great place to spend time with grandchildren aged 10 & 9 and WONDERFUL friends at the longest continuously-operating amusement park in America. Seeing their enjoyment brought JOY to our hearts .

Yelp
Long lines Staff not informed Many rides not operating Food pricey & not that great. Nice park, just needs some better management

Ryan P.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about this one. I love coasters and have enjoyed my visits here in years past, but can't really recommend coming here in it's current state. Visited on a Sunday in June, and a number of things were closed, including multiple water rides and coasters. Wildcat is closed all of 2023 for upgrades, Phobia and the Kiddie Coaster were closed on my visit, and Boulder Dash was only running one train. The classic Trolley ride was also closed. Almost all the water rides and water park were closed due to low temps. The park was heavily advertising the concert series, which is a nice thing for locals, but what's left is a small waterpark and some generic flat rides. Did get to ride the dark ride, but what is here and open isn't enough to justify the price for parking and admission. I did get a return ticket from Guest Services due to all the closed attractions, but I am not planning on being back in this area this year to use it. Hopefully things turn around, but management really needs to do better.

Monica B.

Yelp
I love having this park so close to me. Fun in every season but especially beautiful in the winter. Home of the tallest Christmas tree in Connecticut, this park will surprise you every time you go. Loved the big fire pit where you can roast marshmallows or make your favorite s'mores. One of the gift shops had 80% clearance T-shirt and hoodies and of course I had to buy something, too good of a deal to pass. Good food choices, we ended up having the chicken tenders and fries and my daughter had the special burger with bacon. The portions were huge! We enjoyed walking around sipping on some hot cocoa ( season pass holders can get free refills) while listening to Christmas music. Did a couple rides and had a great time overall!!

David B.

Yelp
A year ago, our family went to Lake Compounce and found most of the rides were closed. It was a disappointing day and we notified customer service. They emailed us back very apologetically and then offered us new tickets when rides would be fixed and available. When we reached out this summer to get our complimentary tickets, we were notified that those tickets had an expiration in October 2023, but at no point in September 2023 were we told this. After forwarding our correspondence to show that there weren't any caveats in the initial promise, LC's customer service ignored our emails. We will NOT be returning to Lake Compounce considering it's flawed customer service and lack of care for an annual family experience. Our kids are heartbroken.

Sana G.

Yelp
My experience at Lake Compounce was terrible. This was my first time visiting in years, and my first time as an adult. Firstly, it took me almost an hour to get into the parking lot due to the outrageous line from the entrance to the gate. I had bought a parking pass online but most people hadn't, so each transaction took time and slowed the line down quite a bit. I went on a Saturday and the lines were understandably long, but it seemed that the workers there did not really care too much about the efficiency of the line. For example, on the Ghost Hunt ride, each cart seats 2 adults and 2 children, but the worker was allowing groups of adults to break up into one adult per cart so they could have the whole cart to themselves. It was really frustrating that the line moved slower than it needed to. The trash cans across the Lake Compounce campus were also inhabited by bees and wasps which felt super scary when standing in line right next to bees and wasps flying around and nowhere to go. It did seem like rules and safety were emphasized, which is always appreciated in an amusement park. I wish the stores provided lids for the side cups, it's very unweildy to carry around an open fountain drink. Some people from our group wanted to visit the water park but it was packed like sardines with barely any room to move around. It seemed that the park had admitted more people than they could accommodate and it almost seemed like a health risk due to the lack of cleanliness.

Heather W.

Yelp
I take my son and a couple of friends here every year. They have a great time; we've recently started going all-in and renting a cabana, getting the speed pass, etc. My husband and I love the water slides, and my son likes the lazy river and wave pool. Everything is well-run and pretty clean (as far as amusement parks go). The bad: Every year, about half of the water slides are out of order. We are baffled by this, because the park's operating season is about 2 months long, what with New England summers being so brief. It seems like in the other 10 months, they'd be working on getting everything usable. 2021 we figured, pandemic supply shortages etc. But it's 2023 and still, half the slides are not open. Obviously if there's a safety issue found, please keep them closed-- but it's different slides each visit, not the same slides closed for years at a time. It's so confusing.

Frank J.

Yelp
Went to the water park. Paid $88 for me and my daughter. Way too many water slides closed. Then in the middle of the day their lazy river closed. We went on a whopping total of 2 water slides all day and then did wave pool. Too many things closed and not enough staff at the water park. Not worth the 1 hr 15 min ride each way and the $88. Did not get out moneys worth and will not visit again. Disappointed. Wanted it to be fun but it just didn't happen. Such a bummer. Committed my Sunday and was let down big time.

Joshua B.

Yelp
The rides were, by and large, in good condition and fun to ride, with Boulder Dash being the exception; it's in such rough shape that large sections of the coaster are physically painful to ride. The park's biggest problem, however, is the hygiene; multiple rides have trash strewn throughout the queues, and the queue to go on the Flytrap waterslide had a large amount of animal poop on the ground that had not been cleaned up almost an hour after opening.

Mik A.

Yelp
This place was awful. Every staff member but one was rude. You need to use a guest pass? Wait 40 min in guest relation line. Need your refill cup? Wait in another 40 minute line inside the park that's also for people having other issues just to guarantee a slow wait time. Soda machines all just spitting out soda. Lame bare minimum Halloween decorations. Hour+ lines. 30 dollar parking. They set it up like they think they are six flags without any of the good things. I would never ever come back, just really a terrible place.

Susie S.

Yelp
Since Lake Compounce is deleting all negative comments on social media, I felt the need to write a yelp review to keep consumers informed. Got the tickets at a discounted price, however still needed to pay $10 for parking. The facility is completely cashless so be prepared for that. We have gone in the past and had a decent experience so we were excited to go again, but times have changed. We got pictures with Santa but the packages were super expensive and you couldn't just buy an ornament without buying a package so we passed. The hot chocolate was room temp at 330 pm (half hour after opening) and the soft pretzels were stale and dry. There were very few hot food options and everything was insanely expensive. There weren't really any activities for my older 2 kids, but it younger one had fun on the rides. The absolute worse part of the night was the train. We waited 45 minutes to go on the slowest train ride in existence. The lights look like some underpaid employee threw them on the trees haphazardly. The ride was 25min ish and for the first 5 minutes there were lights and music, but for the rest of the trip it was mostly dark and no music. Obviously it was freezing cold and super miserable. We've gone before and there were lights in the lake and all throughout the field and Christmas songs playing, it was so enjoyable but this year wasn't it. Overall there are much better events in the state, and we won't be doing this event again unless they make some huge changes which I doubt they will do!

Yelp
Got a deal to go here and had a great time. They have a water area with a nice sized wave pool and lazy floating pool . Food lines were very long , but had plenty of food stations . The ride line moved fast at times and had a few great ride options . We really enjoyed being able to get on everything with our friends and family .

Janice M.

Yelp
My son and I started a tradition of doing day trips together for a week during summer break. We did Quassy last year and had a great time. This year we decided on Lake Compounce and brought along one of my son's friends. This was a good decision on my part because they both tried things they might not have without the other. They also helped each other deal with the extremely long lines. Because I pre-ordered our tickets we were able to bypass the ticket line and go right to the entrance. Upon entering we took a right toward the rides area. We opted to do the water side later. I have to admit, I felt a little burned when we realized that most of the rides that we wanted to go on were shut down. After walking around the area and having a couple of rides shut down on us while we were waiting in line, we decided to keep walking until we found some thing to do. Having two10-year-old boys with me made the ghost shooting ride an easy choice. The line was very long. The ride was fun for the most part, but that was definitely a one and done kind of ride. The flume style ride was shut down as was the next one we went to. While waiting in line at the next ride, we were told they were mechanical issues, but they were still running it. We opted for the Ferris wheel. After walking into line, we were warned that they were having issues with that ride as well. So I took the boys and we did the next best thing...we hit the bumper cars. We eventually got on the Ferris wheel after waiting for them to reopen. So it wasn't a total bust. We decided to run out to the car and grab some stuff before we went to the other side of the park. Looking for the exit we found the well planned out, "walk through the gift shop" to leave the park. We had our hands stamped and went to the car to grab our stuff. Once we entered the water park area, we saw the decently sized lockers to rent. Online I saw that they started at $16 (on weekdays) and they go up according to size. Not knowing the sizes we just planned on bringing our stuff in their backpacks (Rule: 15"x15"x15"). There is a changing area that appears large and clean. The boys had a blast and didn't seem to mind the long waits in the lines. Since I didn't have anything to eat, I decided to hit a kiosk while the boys were waiting in a line. Without walking far away from the boys, the only option was a hotdog and hamburger place serving Nathan's hot dogs. I went over to the line and realized that I would have to buy the platter for $16 , including the hot dog and fries. Since I don't eat the fries or the bun, $16 was a little steep for just a hotdog. I opted not to eat anything here either. Unless you're smart enough to snag a chaise with an umbrella there's not a lot of coverage from the sun here. I did two separate applications of sunscreen, and still left looking like a lobster. The boys were a little pink too. Sunscreen is definitely a must. Now for the thrifty mama side of my review. Obviously buy everything half-price if you can. There's no getting around the $30 parking and as far as I can tell there was no discount available for that. Even with the discount it cost the three of us $90 just to get into the park. Pack snacks and food to either leave in the car or bring into the park. Just be sure to bring a soft sided cooler that is no bigger than 12"x12"x12" (another park rule). The souvenir cup is probably the way to go if you purchase it early and carry it around or store it. At about $25 it can get pretty pricey with a larger group. Its very important to keep in mind, Lake Compounce went cashless. They do offer machines that you can turn cash into cards. Overall, I would rate our trip a 2.5, but because I can't do that I'll give them a 3. I was very disappointed to pay that amount of money and have rides either shut down on us or to have been mechanically closed. It was very disappointing to me, for the boys' first ever visit. If you can keep your kids away from the games ($10+) and get them to share meals, you might not go broke. If you're looking to try to stay healthy, definitely pack something to eat, because you won't find many options here.

Yelp
I love that this amusement park included a water park as well! I'd say majority of it is catered towards children but there were a couple of larger rides. Lines were not long at all, we went on a Saturday during Labor Day Weekend and got to the front at 10:15. They started letting people in the parking lot at 10:30 and we were in the park on 11am on the dot, when they open. If you have children I would definitely recommend this Amusement/water park! Super family friendly

Yelp
It was my first time going with my boys. The main purpose was for the water part of the park. We went to the main splash pad area and as I was leaving in search of the splash pad with the big bucket that splashes, I find out that was the splash pad where it was supposed to be at but I was told that it was broken and they removed it. I go across from that splash pad where there's a ship and it's a mini wave pool for little kids. Well, turns out that ship, is OUT OF ORDER too. You can't climb it and you can't use the slides that come out of the sides. I didn't bother to ask. It's not like it was going to change the outcome. Next to the ship wave pool is a mini splash pad for even smaller children. The octopus that was suppose to have swings, NO SWINGS. There's a whale that has a slide inside it's mouth and there's another animal in there too that's suppose to have a slide: OUT OF ORDER. In this same pool area there's three slides that lead into a small section that you fall into. Maybe 2 feet deep: OUT OF ORDER... Honestly it was so sad to see the pattern on the water theme side of the park. The food: Off the charts. A personal pizza that's about 5 inches in diameter, $10.99! Let that sit there for a while. Really think about this. $11 dollars for a bite size pizza. $20 plus dollars for two of them! Which is what I got. That one hurt the most. Actually the $6 dollar SMALL soft serve... or was it medium? Either way, I had two licks. My toddler had two links and the ground had 100 drops of ice cream cause of how hot it was. Oh the souvenir shop even got some drips the way out. There's no straws at the park. Public enemy number one. ‍. If you have a toddler not drinking out of cups, be ready to pour it into their mouths. Will I return? Proooooobably not .... unless it's buy one ticket, 3 come in free. Speaking of entry fee: $50 dollars!! For adults and that's with a "discount" For a park with soooo many damaged things. There was a train by the lockers that was being looked at by the park mechanics that wAs also out of order!!! Actually, it's a HARD NO FOR ME. One and DONE deal for me. As I'm writing this, I'm actually getting more disappointed in what took place.

Yelp
Terrible parking situation, long lines, bad food, rude service. Had to wait for over an hour to ride a short lazy river. Will never go back.

Yelp
What a complete disappointment and not worth your time or money. we came to the concert series and did not bring chairs. we arrived early enough to get the chairs the website stated were available The security guard made all of us return them to feet's away from the stage. He said that chairs were available in the area feet's away from the stage. For a concert? next to the swimming kids and all the other music playing? Really? Guarding chairs instead of being logical. Waste of time as I sit on the sand with open chairs next to the water rides and other music.

Yelp
Fun and family friendly. Our group had people from ages 6 to 65. Great price, park was not over crowded and we were able to ride everything we wanted in one day. Park was clean and well maintained. Food was good. Fun games to play with prizes that aren't terrible. I have one tiny complaint, and that is that we bought the souvenir cup and all of the stations had no ice. We were also disappointed Saw Mill Plunge was closed. We had a great day!

Yelp
Too expensive! Parking too expensive! No cash accepted. Terrible food! Some rides closed. Better off going to Quassy!

Jessica F.

Yelp
This park is complete trash!! Half the rides were closed including the big rollercoaster as well as most the rides in the water park. Even the big splash area with the giant bucket that dumps water was down. Lazy river down. Family raft ride down. They take your money for the ticket and price gouge you on parking. ( over 30 dollars) and then when you get inside you are perplexed. The food is ridiculous in price and the ice machines didn't work. Also becuase most of the rides are down you are waiting in line for hours for the ones that are open. I will probably never return for that experience. And if you go to social media local forums you will see this is most people's experience. Never used to be this way very sad and disturbing. Complete robbery if you ask me.

Yelp
See the reviews on Facebook, don't buy Platinum or passes with Preferred Parking. Also see the reviews on Google. Nicholas the Manager wouldnt comment on the video.

Yelp
went today for 4th of july and honestly it wasn't great. wayyyyy too crowded (i feel like there should be a limit to the amount of people in amusement parks) lines in every single ride including the kid pools???. wave pool was closed for more than have of the time for what reason?? You cannot get into a water ride or pool unless 3 other people left the pool already AND I was suspiciously charged $24 from my debit card and I have no idea why or how. the food was good for the price which is expensive to be honest but they charge you for refills?? like what's insane, so if i really need a drink i have to pay $8 for it. everything was run so stupidly. the dry rides themselves are fun but again the lines are insanely long. On one of the rides a friend of mine took out his phone to record the fun moment and they stopped the ENTIRE RIDE MID WAY THROUGH and told him to stop recording and leave????!!!! That friend doesn't speak an ounce of english and was so confused as to why he was being yelled at but the workers didn't care. My boyfriend and I were on the line to get on the famous roller coast boulder dash but i had left the line because i had an accident with my cycle... i come back to the line and security stops me and tells me i cannot skip the line. I explain that my boyfriend is in line already and i had to get off because i had an emergency and he really told me i couldn't because it's policy. so i waited 45 minutes for nothing?? it was an emergency!!! and as a women i couldn't control what was happening. honestly has a kid i enjoyed this park so much but now as an adult i see that it's just an overpriced boat lod of crap. DONT GO SAVE YOUR MONEY

Yelp
I heard a security guard say the most out of pocket racist saying I have ever heard. On top of that the ride were closed since we got here for another 2 hours. Do NOT recommend!

Yelp
I came here with my friends as a graduation from college celebration. Upon entering the park, we saw a bunch of people leaving but we decided to see what was going on for ourselves. We got on one ride, and it worked and the wait wasn't long, so we assumed the rest of our experience would be the same. We then proceeded to Saw Mill Plunge, and realized we were mistaken. We waited on like for over an hour for a ride that was not being managed well, as there were so many single riders. We then waited in line for Phobia, but someone urinated on the ride and we had to wait additional time. I personally have been coming here since childhood and everything has changed for the worst. I am extremely unhappy with how much money we paid (over $250 total for 4 of us with parking) for the lack of rides being open. Thunder and Lightning was closed, Zoomerang was closed, Boulder Dash was closed, and everything else has ridiculous wait times because there was no crowd control happening due to the lack of open rides. Not to MENTION, we were strapped into Down Time and then taken off of the ride after it malfunctioned while we were on it. This was the worst experience I ever had and I will NOT be coming back.

Yelp
My family and I visited on 7/27/24. We purchased our tickets, meal tickets, & parking pass online. We got to the park at 12pm and paid $18 for a locker the size of a shoebox. We try to get food at Nathan Famous were we waited for 3hrs on line. When we get to the front of the line we kept getting skipped by someone who knew the manager working when we finally get our chance to order there sold out of Fries, cheese and cookies only had 1 burger left. So we ordered what we could get and received cold stale nasty food. It's now gonna be 4pm and we haven't even gotten to enjoy 1 ride yet. We hit the wave pool and go to the theme park side. We go and wait on line to the twister, my 12 year old daughter was targeted by a park employee for leaning on the railing I approach the worker and ask him why he's targeting my daughter when there is white kids literally flipping and twirling around the pole, he says nothing and turns around, his vibes with people of color where bad and it was obvious. We were so disgusted and my kids felt very discriminated. When we went to change in the locker to go home we found a used condom on the floor of the men's bathroom. I went to customer relations and told them about our experience and she was very apologetic and advised us to email lake compounce relations department and gave us food vouchers for our next visit which will be never. The 2 hour drive to the park and long lines with no drinks or ice in any station nothing you pay for you get. Hispanics and african americans beware!!

Yelp
How does this place stay open? So much wasted potential! Rides closed, long wait times and not because the line are long, just inefficient loading of rides There is a lot that could and should be done At least the park is clean

Yelp
I visited this theme park with my family and friends yesterday. Whoever is in charge of the theme park needs to do better in terms of customer service and access. We arrived at the park for opening and we went to use the bathroom. Arriving as soon as the park opens the bathroom should not smell as if it was not cleaned properly. The stench of feces and urine was overwhelming. There were also a lot of closed areas/stations that should be opened to provide customers with food, water and snacks. The one thing that should be available at theme parks is funnel cake. When my family and I arrived to get funnel cake we were informed that there was no more funnel cake available. That is completely absurd. The bathrooms did not have adequate toilet paper in their stalls and they were filthy. Garbage cans were filled to capacity and they weren't being emptied. Because the garbage cans weren't being emptied there was always a swarm of bees all over the garbage. When my family and I went to purchase food we waited in line for over an hour. There were other families waiting and some customers became frustrated and started using profanity towards the staff. There were also customers returning requesting refunds and the line was held up even more due to the staff providing the customers with refunds instead of taking/fulfilling orders for the waiting customers. There were also rides that were being shut down throughout the day leaving customers with a limited variety of rides. Also there were only 6 bumper cars out of 15 that were operational. It was also difficult to find park staff to tend to the conditions in the park. The customer service in this park is poor. While the variety of rides and games were fine this park doesn't measure up. My family and I will not be returning. I hope that service gets better at this establishment because you will lose customers.

Yelp
I bought gold tickets specifically to ride the lazy River and I wasn't allowed to ride the tube they said I was over weight I was embarrassed and sad I don't like heights and scary rides so I lost out my money

Yelp
Came here with my softball team after a tournament. We got the Bites and Pints for everyone, it was kind of a joke. The cups are less than 1/2 the size of a full cup. 50% of the stations were out of food selections or specialty drink. Many of the kids working were very unhappy due to patrons being disrespectful to them with no management in sight to support these kids. It was terrifying to watch as one kid was dealing with being overworked and dehydrated from the sun and no break for 5+ hrs! $10.99 for warm beer. The kids were over serving in droves. I watched a man order 12 beers and went around the corner and drank all by himself and a buddy. It was amazing to watch the carry 6 beers a piece. Also, at around 5pm, the park had sold out of bottled water! Again, no management in sight to find and we went to 6+ stores, food areas for water bottles. No bottle water. Seriously? On a 85 degree day! So dangerous and drunken people everywhere. Families be aware! In advance! I was actually shocked how incredibly disappointed we were in the consessions! Come for the rides, people watching. For such a wealthy state, this park seemed to attract the armpit of CT's 'finest' constituents. I say this because we saw a couple snorting coke on a park bench #bitesandpints

Yelp
This place is a joke. It has gone done-hill drastically. None of us could get ice for our soda after 1pm. 4 of the refill stations were out of ice and most sodas. After spending $25 / cup for unlimited refills. This is totally unacceptable. One kid needed medical attention due to the lack of cold hydration. We spent around $300 in tickets and another $200-$300 on food and beverage. I would not recommend this park again. They allowed too many people in and could not handle it, though they took our cash. I was told to find a person wearing a yellow Lake Compounce Shirt, better luck finding a cold drink; which we never did find either after 4pm. There were no lack of staff for the games of chance; which of course cost us more money. The food and drink lines were almost as long as the roller coaster rides! We will skip this park for now on. Back to 6 Flags or Canobie Lake. Thanks for nothing Lake Compounce

Yelp
Very fun. Appropriate for all ages. Something for everyone to do. Long lines on the weekends.

Yelp
Wow is it expensive! We went yesterday on a flash sale so the price was 30 a person, worth it. The water park was a mob scene but that is not there problem. Two things I was not a fan of were that Thunder Rapids closed at 5 when everything else was open until 8 and wild cat and the flume ride were down. A pet peeve for me constantly was the ,"cashless" stuff it sounds good but slows down processing while we wait for the transaction to go thru. Also, the main building was very understaffed but the portions were healthy size and food actually was not too bad. So that was ok. It was a good but expensive day.

Melissa I.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place and wish I could have stayed longer and actually done all the rides but a MAJOR rainstorm hit about 3 or 4 hours into our stay and we had to leave since they closed down. The rides I did get to go on were extremely fun. I found this place to be affordable. I will say the service at Pinks is painfully slow but after speaking with an employee, I understand you are short staffed so I get it. All the employees were friendly and I just wish the gift store could have been left opened and not closed right away. I really wanted to buy something but we had to exit immediately according to the staff. I would come back and I would recommend, just try not for a rainy day!

Yelp
Run to Six Flags. This year joined as season pass holders to Lake Compound. Nothing goes as advertised. Seriously, No rules are enforced, visitors do As they please. personal are rude and tip themselves without asking Your permission ( they add a tip on Your bill). Food is Highly expensive, if you can stand in a line for 45 minutes. Awful tasting. So many Amusment Rides and Water Rides closed, continuously. save time and money. Do not expect much from Lake Compound, Bristol, CT

Yelp
This is our 2nd visit this year. Today was just a regular ride day. I have to say I didn't see that much disinfecting in between rides and at almost every ride the hand sanitizers were EMPTY.... Those were just a few littlthings I picked up on . Now onto Pinky's. We stopped there for lunch order was simple 3 burger, 1 dog & 3 fries .. we actually wanted a chilli dog NO chilli , would begetting chilli for at least 30 minutes , we were there at 12:15, shouldn't it had already been taken care of at opening ? Also the burger and dog took longer to cook then fries our fries were up 1st as we waited an additional 10 minutes for the rest of the order... we kinda just sucked it up as there was a line building behind us , no fault of ours ... those were a few things that could use improving Dont put fried up until at least proteins are 3/4 way done cooking .
