First the positives. It was warm and clean. Plus we had bread, milk and orange juice delivered included in our groups stay. On the negative side. A bit cramped in the dorms and the common room didn't have enough seats. Two bathrooms, where both the shower and toilet were situated. So if someone was using the toilet, someone else couldn't use the shower. Most hostels have shower and toilets seperate. The biggest problem was no drying room. A hostel in the Lakes without a drying room and it was a typical wet weekend? To be fair, it's a very small hostel and I suppose the owners have chosen to maximize sleeping accommodation over facilities. Having said all this we managed and had a great weekend. I would use the hostel again.

Stayed for 3 nights whilst walking in the lakes. Good location but wasn't particularly impressed with the interior. Rooms haven't been decorated or taken care of in a while. Kitchen appliances are falling apart, oven doesn't work, drawers were broken, washing machine was leaking etc. Security was a bit concerning too as the coded doors would be accessIble to anyone who had stayed in the hostel previously. One space one the drive and parking was pretty busy on the road. I felt that it was somewhat overpriced (£45 per night for a private dorm) for what it was and would not choose to stay there again. Could be so much better with a bit of investment.

Excellent. Clean, safe, friendly fellow travellers, breakfast coffee tea - help yourself. £3 to wash your clothes! Terrific place. If I come back to the Lake district will stay here again. Highly recommended.

Affordable hostel tuck in an quiet corner of the street. Located extremely close to Coach drop off/pickup point. It has a small reception room which is not manned for guests to hang out. Kitchen comes with necessary cutlery, pot and pans for you to prepare your own meal. Very clean bathrooms. Walls are a little thin but its alright as long as your hostel mate are not too loud. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a place to stay in Windermere.

This place is amazing. Laid back vibe, clean rooms, great communal area upstairs to chill out, walking distance from train, shops and only a mile or so to the ferry. Free, reliable WiFi and plenty of information about great walking trails in the area. Definitely a great choice for young and old.

This self-catering hostel is pretty great in terms of location, cost and ease of use. It's right outside the train station, main bus stop, grocery mart (incl ATM) and tourist center. I coordinated getting a room via SMS and it was easy and friendly. There is only one WC/shower on the main floor but I never had to wait. The shower is a bit fussy, how's too hot then too cold. But mostly it was a cheap way to stay in the LD where I was out walking all day anyway.

Bit disappointed by this hostel. There's real lack of caring in this place: no staff presence, aging furnishings, thread bare sheets, the cheapest possible breakfast provisions. The lack of hot water in the taps just typifies the experience. Of course, you wouldn't mind if it was low cost, but the price gap to real B&B places with private rooms just raises doubts about whether this hostel is worth baring with. On balance, probably not.

Although it’s in a good location, with good wifi, rooms were dirty, didn’t get proper sheets, some sheets were stained. Not good value for what you get. I’ve stayed at much cheaper places which are much better.
