We had dinner at the hotel on Saturday night. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was a very wet and windy night, so the roaring log burner was very much appreciated. We plan to return in the summer and stay in one of the villas.|Trish.

Stayed in one of their villas for 2 nights, absolutely beautiful. Stunning location and brilliantly designed villa. Also incredibly comfortable bed and nice and warm on a cold night. The meals in the restaurant were also superb, as was the service. Cannot recommend enough!

Went here to get some fish and chips a few weeks back. The fish was super fresh and tasted amazing, and the hips were also very well seasoned. Staff were also very attentive and friendly. Awesome view as well!

I had the so-called famous Fish & Chips $24, which consisted of one small piece of fish and about a dozen chips with salad. While very nice, the serving size for the price was pathetic and left me feeling hungry and unsatisfied. I won't be fooled again.

Good fish & chips, fish a tad small but lucky it was my favourite fish John Dory and hand full of chips. If I didn't order the paua burger (also good but not much paua flavour), think I would have stopped for a pie. Service was quick but then we were the first order of the day. Sat next to the window in main bar area and blow flies all over the window.

The Lake Ferry Hotel is a regular destination for us and is always enjoyable. It’s perfect if the conditions are not great for fishing as there’s always good fish available here. We have even cycled out from Greytown and the first view of the hotel is an extremely welcome sight!

The Lake Ferry hotel has an important historical background from being a ferry, to a meeting place, and now is a really cool place to stop for lunch, take in the views of the lake and sea, have fish & chips & a glass of wine, or stay overnight & party. Situated in a remote past of southern Wairarapa, it really is a destination along with the wild coast, dramatic sea, people surfcasting or white baiting in the season or walking along the beach. I love the round flat stones shaped by the endless sea. Go - you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Lake Ferry isn't a particularly nice place to visit, however it does have two highlights - the Onoke Spit, and Lake Ferry Hotel, which is a revelation at the end of the road. We stopped by en route from Cape Palliser and had an unexpected adventure down Onoke Spit, but not without a cup of tea first. Food looked good, but it was the wrong time for us although we did share an overly sweet brownie. The singe server seemed a little stressed when we walked in (only 2 other tables seated) so not sure what it would be like during a busy period, but when we visited, the quietness of the hotel matched the scenery outdoors, calm, tranquil, at ease with itself.
