What a beautiful place to stay while visiting Glacier, just a few minutes drive to the park, and Ron was really hospitable, too.
We got a great last minute deal on a small cabin equipped with full kitchen and our own fire pit. There is no kitchenware (cookware, dishware, utensils, etc), which is unusual for a place that offers a kitchen, but fortunately I was on the road for over a month and had my camping gear including cookware and groceries. The kitchen was a great amenity nonetheless! The bed was sort of hard and the blankets very thin, but we just layered up and slept just fine. Our bathroom didn't have a sink, so we had to use the kitchen sink when we wanted to brush our teeth, no big deal.
The cabins are very private since none of them connect or are close enough to hear your neighbors. The size of the room was perfect for the two of us, but would probably be too crowded for any more than that. Although the back area is all yours, with the fire pit and picnic table, and would serve as a nice place for more company.
The place is hard to find at night so keep an eye out! Ron asks that you come before 8pm, I believe, as that's when the office closes and staff is gone for the evening. We were coming from Bozeman and it took much longer than we had expected. We called Ron and he had no problem waiting over an hour and half for us to arrive. When we checked-in, we weren't rushed at all. Ron gave us the rundown of the place, information about the area, and answered all of our questions without missing a beat.
There's a couple of stores nearby to restock, but other than that and checking out Glacier National Park once or twice, there really isn't any other reason to leave Lake Five! There's a real homey feeling to the place and we can't wait to visit again.
