Lake George / Saratoga KOA Journey

Google
Very cozy campground. Not huge, but not too small. Sites are all wooded which I loved, with ample room between each site. Bathrooms were spotless. Yes, there is road noise, but when you camp you have to expect it. Tammy and her husband were friendly, pleasant to speak with and accommodating. You are about 20 minutes from Lake George. This was my first stay and I will definitely be back!!!

Great little campground run by a husband and wife. Grounds are very clean and maintained. It's right on route 9 so you get a lot of road noise if you have a site right by the pool. Plus most campers travel through your site to get to their cabins even though you're sitting right there. One nice trail to the lake if you like mountain biking. Nothing extreme but good dips and bumps. Fun experience for the whole family. Just remember it's a Journey campground, not a lot of amenities or activities like a Holiday or Diamond Resort, but it's super quiet at night, especially when the road traffic dies down. Just right for a short inexpensive stay to explore the area.

The campground is wonderfully peaceful—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The pool is ideal for unwinding, and there’s a splash area that’s great fun for the little ones. The on-site fishing spot has bass, and the restrooms and showers are clean and well-maintained. Our tent site was generously sized—we fit a 12-person bell tent and a kitchen tent with plenty of room left over for another tent if needed. The water and electricity hookups were conveniently located for our kitchen setup. The shade from the surrounding trees was fantastic, and even when it poured rain for a bit, our site stayed mostly dry. Wi-Fi is adequate for quick emails or looking something up. Nearby activities are plentiful, including white-water rafting, tubing, zip lines, swimming in rivers and lakes, and it’s not too far from Lake George. All in all, this is a great and affordable place for a relaxing vacation, whether you’re here for adventure or just some quiet time outdoors.

Due to unforeseen issue and the weekend after my reservation being sold out further south (on our way back to home in Georgia from Canada), I had no choice but delaying my departure from Quebec area, reserved the site online through the KOA App Sunday evening for Tuesday/Wednesday overnight stop. Called Monday morning to cancel (no answer, office closed, let a voicemail), called around 2:20pm, then asked to cancel due to the above issue, cancellation done but no refund!!! I’ve been KOA member since April 2024 and spent hundreds of dollars throughout their campgrounds around the US, never had an issue at all! For us campers, things happens, and that is why we are RV’ing, to have more freedom than hotel vacation style. This is the type of customer service that will not have me even try another time to this specific KOA, worst customer service ever, even though the lady on the phone was very polite but standing behind, no refund!

Like I said in my KOA post, it is all about the meet and greet in my opinion. Tammi and Dave gave us the most warm and welcoming introduction to their campsite which by the way his family owned. They took it over from another family member five years ago and told us all about the improvements they made. The sites were perfect with full hookups and completely leveled out. The bathrooms were spotless. And Kendra was an absolute doll who even gave us a tour of the cabins they have to offer. Definitely coming back.

While on our first day of vacation our dog became very ill. The staff at this KOA swooped in and helped us in so many ways. They sent us to where they take their animals and the staff there was even waiting for us upon our arrival. I cannot tell you how thoughtful, kind and caring these people at KOA Lake George are! They make you feel like you're part of their family. The bathrooms were also very clean and the campsites were flat and comfortable. It was an easy and convenient drive to the center of Lake George as well. Highly recommend!

Very well run campground. Staff very friendly and helpful. The campground is clean, the bathrooms are clean. The owners are involved in the day to day operation and very accessible. Congratulations on 50 years of being there for us! We look forward to seeing you next year.......

The staff are so nice and helpful, they made you feel right at home. The bathrooms were clean, and the grounds were as well. I will be back very pleasant experience. They even have cute tiny cottages on site.

Yelp
How do I feel about this KOA? The best way I can describe it is "meh". Fine for a one or two night stopover on your way to somewhere else or if you're visiting the area but I definitely wouldn't want to plan my vacation here. We arrived not long after the posted checkin time to find a locked office and a map with our name written on it posted to the door. Being avid campers, we're no stranger to this practice but typically this is done if you're a later arrival and if not the campground usually gives you a heads up that the office will be closed then checks in on you later in the day to make sure you settled in ok and don't need anything. We've never been to the area so I was looking forward to speaking with the staff for some recommendations of places to go in the area. We also didn't have any firewood. They're doing some big renovations and I'm optimistic that they'll be nice. The bathrooms appear to have recently been done and look great (although the shower stalls are directly next to one another and have large openings on the top and bottom which is less than ideal for privacy sake). Water pressure in the showers was great and they are free but the stalls and dressing areas are cramped and could use more hooks/shelves to put things while in use. The rest of the campground was an absolute mess though. Obviously construction mixed with spring mud is not a pretty combination but to be honest had I known the current state of the campground I would have booked elsewhere. Guests should have been informed in advance and given a discounted rate or the campground should have delayed opening until the major renovations were completed. Our site was pretty level but had a cabin up right against it with nothing to separate the sites for privacy. The view was the pool and the road. Fire ring was a small one that was sunk into the ground. We had two bars of service for T-Mobile which allowed us to use our cell phone but not to stream anything when we were stuck inside because of the rain. So to sum it up...I'm going to give it a middle of the road rating of 3 stars. The location is good and I'm happy to see they are making improvements to the property. Although the ambiance and privacy was severely lacking for us I'm optimistic that they are working on improving that. However I think the service could be improved and more consideration could be given to the guest experience. **Update** Shortly after posting this the owner approached my fiancé and said that he felt bad about the current state of their campground so they were going to issue us a partial refund for our night stay. So I don't know if the owners saw my review (which I honestly don't think was the case since it was within half an hour of my post) or if it was just a crazy coincidence but ultimately the owner did try to improve on our experience.

Yelp
I have to say this was a wonderful campground with excellent camp owners! Everything was spotlessly clean. The store was well stocked, and the owners were extremely helpful whenever we needed anything! Why anybody would give this less than five stars is beyond me! I suggest you please come to this campground, you will be very very happy! It is extremely close to Lake, George and Saratoga and very private! A must go if you're in the area and go camping!

Yelp
Not handicap accessible. Has ramps to get into the bathroom, but extremely thick gravel that continuously almost threw my brother out of his chair. Also the showers are unusable with a wheelchair. Called and tried speaking to the owners and they said they would call back without taking a phone number.

Yelp
This was a pretty good experience. We stayed in Site 36. The campground is under new owners who have been there less than 1 year and are working hard to make the needed improvements/fixes. PROS: Check in was awesome. We had about 4 people checking in at once and the owners were pleasant, prompt, and actually had us follow them to the campsite to get set up. The site was clean and spacious with lots of natural large trees around providing ample coverage and cooler on hot days. They offered big trash cans to get rid of waste throughout the park which was nice. The pool was clean and big enough to accommodate a lot of kids safely. They had a cute little park for kids as well. Loved that each day, they drove through the grounds offering wood/ice for cost. It made it easy to stop those store runs or having to keep it in stock ourselves. Good walking trails that were groomed nicely, and allowed campers to see a little bit of nature without having to rough it at all. Our site had a sewage backup that the owners promptly called the plumber (during 4th of July weekend) and he wasn't able to come. They brought over a dump cart and discounted us $20. Not a happy experience, but they handled it very well and very promptly. Close to plenty of restaurants and activities as well. Two lakes to choose from for fishing/boating/swimming which was really awesome as well. Very quiet at night. CONS: The fishing dock was in total disrepair and unusable/unsafe for kids to be near. The lake area for fishing needed clean up and grooming to make it kid friendly. The road driving through the campground was a bit rough and narrow - if you are experienced with driving campers it's not a problem; however, if you are new to it or not as adept at pulling in/backing out, this will prove to be very difficult. The water pressure at the dump site is low making it difficult to clean out black tanks. The wifi was NOT worth it. It wouldn't stay connected longer than about 1 minute and we were deep into the campgrounds.

Yelp
We have stayed here twice this season. The owners are new this year and are working to make improvements. The sites are large and nicely wooded. The location is close to many attractions and restaurants. We loved how peaceful it was on both our trips.

Yelp
We stayed at the Lake George/Saratoga KOA Journey in Lake Luzerne this past weekend. It's perfect. You're only about 15 minutes away from Lake George Village and only about 20 minutes to Saratoga. We have an RPod travel trailer and our site (23) was quiet, shaded, beautiful and really peaceful. We had electric and water hookups. There's a nice pool and a playground for the kids. A fenced dog park, too. The new owners are wonderful and pleasant and always available. There is great hiking and rafting nearby and you're still really close to both Lake George and Saratoga. We loved our stay there and highly recommend it. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
We stayed here for the weekend for my daughter's soccer tournament in Saratoga Springs (35 mins to the south). For a quick stay this was fine. We paid $55 for W/E/S no cable but the WIFI worked perfectly despite some reviews we read. The sites are large and nestled under pine trees. We stayed in 52 and its was a great site - very large, private and wooded but a close walk to the bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean - not really modern but we had no complaints. There is a lovely older couple running the place with several kids (18/20) working there. The pool was clean and refreshing but needs updating. The stones or cement surrounding it is old and shows it's age. Playground was older but great for kids. The campground is located near Lake Luzerne and in a quit location - nice if you want to be away from lake George village and the busy summer traffic.

Yelp
Overgrown trees and branches pose a hazard to your RV. We have a 36' and it was a little tight going through the loops. Clean facility and friendly staff. However, sites are sand. It makes a MESS. Could use some gravel. Pool was closed with no reasoning or notification why. Horrible WiFi. It is nicely wooded with decent size spots, but for the price and other items listed above, we will not return and recommend you look elsewhere as well.

Yelp
Clean however run down and no "frills". The pool was ok, with their cinder block surround patio. Basketball court was overgrown and didn't look like anyone had played on it in years. Our site was level with full hook ups. Our "view" was the backside of a gun shop and the Route 9N Road, with a constant drone of traffic. Place was about 20% full and not quite sure why we didn't get a wooded site... There appeared to only be one public bathroom (as they assume everyone uses their RVs) on the map, but I couldn't find it. If you are expecting a KOA with organized activities for the kids etc., this isn't the place. Speaking of which, we got charged extra for our 2 kids (we are only a family of 4), which was surprising. This place was literally the most expensive of our trip ($66/nt), with the least amount for that $. Owners were an older couple, very nice. Place was clean, just run down. We won't be visiting again.

Yelp
My kids and I are frequent campers all over. This is not your typical KOA! This is basically like a private campground. There's no jump pad, no activities, no entertainment what so ever at this KOA. There is a ran down pool, basketball court and a basic playground. My kids 10, 11 and 13 asked me to never book our trip there again. Not worth $50+ a night!!

Yelp
Would not recommend. Bathrooms are not clean. They had garbage in the bathroom when we first arrived that was still around when we left a week later. Owner/manager was very rude. The camping sites are very small. Stayed at other campgrounds that were much better with friendly staff members.

Yelp
Pros: Close to lake George Close to Whitewater Rafting Wi-fi available Cabins are clean Spacious campsites Cons: Bathrooms were bearable, keeping in mind it is a campsite Sites are close to each other, could hear the farts of neighboring campers

Yelp
I didnt think this canpground was bad. Its older and could use a little renovation but its good for what you need it for! Its so nice to be staying away from Lake George and the constant noise and traffic. Older couple running the place were quite nice! When i was there a baby mouse has fallen into the lighting area! Also the woman had rescued a baby falcon The only bad thibg was that it was running on like 30 volts and it was SO hot - we couldnt run our fans or both ACs at once so that was the only diwn side- everything else was very nice. Lake george is a fun place

Yelp
Save us from the mosquitos!!! We're no strangers to camping or the outdoors, but the mosquitos were bad enough here for us to cut our trip short and get a hotel. When they are relentless at 2 in the afternoon there is a problem. This was one of the smaller KOAs we've stayed at. There was only one bathroom location, it was pretty dated but clean enough. 15-20 minutes from lake george and queensbury, so location was good. However it is in the middle of nowhere so the was NO CELLPHONE SERVICE at all. Free wifi was spotty at best.
