Lake Hartwell

Lake Hartwell has its moments, but overall, it’s pretty underwhelming. The water isn’t even clear, kind of murky, actually, so don’t come expecting anything picturesque on that front. It’s the standard setup: boating, jet skiing, maybe a swim if you don’t mind the water quality. The picnic areas are limited and not well maintained. Feels like an afterthought, not a place you’d really want to set up for the day. There is a fishing pier, which is decent if that’s what you’re into, but beyond that, there’s not much to write home about. It’s fine if you’re local and just need to get outside, but it’s not a spot I’d go out of my way for.

Great COE campground at Springfield loop

One of the prettiest lakes I’ve been to in the south eastern half of the US. Not only that, it’s centrally located to larger cities, mountains and the Atlantic is only 5-6 hours away. Despite the clay dirt the water is clear and clean.

Love Love Love this place. Definitely for your outdoor adventure seekers. Swimming, boating, fishing, hiking you got it all around this area. Have fun "ya'all"

Beautiful lake that's never too packed. Love the trees all around it and the wildlife viewing. Every time we are out we see blue heron, deer and other kinds of birds. Great for boating, kayaking and swimming.

This is a great lake! I got to jump off the bridge and go tubing. But I do recommend wearing a 1-piece bathing suit for tubing.😉

Our family loves going to Lake Hartwell. They have nice boat ramps that are always kept up and clean. Lake Hartwell offers you and your family many different options to spend time together like: boating, fishing, swimming, exploring the islands that are surrounded by water, or just sitting on a boat dock enjoying the beautiful views together.
