Lake House at High Peaks Resort

It’s fine. Nothing fancy. Can be loud, especially noise in the hall. The common area when full is quite noisy because there is no carpeting. Love that they lit a bonfire outside with chairs. Nice we can use amenities of High Peaks across the street. The view and location is the best part. The staff were kind and brought a microwave to my room when I asked for one. The rooms are pretty bare. A small fridge and a keurig. Fine for a basic weekend but not if you expect to prepare any of your own food of leftovers from a restaurant visit. Afternoon shower was fine, but morning shower there was not enough hot water and I had to finish washing my hair in the sink! Also, be sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner and soap for bathing.

Don’t be tricked by the pictures of the view. That’s all there is that this hotel has to offer. Rooms are filthy(housekeeping literally trapped an ant under a cup in my room), carpeting is disgusting, you have to check in across the street, pool is disgusting and I had (probably lead) paint chips on my feet just sitting by the hot tub. This was the quality of a $70 a night sketchy motel with a nice view and that’s IT. Boats were pulled the morning we got there even though it heated up to almost 70. There was an old Contact lense on the side of my bed. Didn’t even get our complimentary wine upon check in either. I honestly want a full refund. This was a horrible experience.

We were on a cycling tour and stayed here 2 nights. We did have staff upon check in but after we all got our rooms and our welcome champagne, I didn’t see a staff member (didn’t need one either). They did serve us a very nice breakfast but I think that was really because we were a tour. No complaints about our room other than the tub drain was a bit rusty. We were on the 2nd floor with a balcony and a nice view of mirror lake. This hotel is at the end of the ‘strip’ so it was a very nice walk to shopping and there are a ton of restaurants and coffee shops. I’m sure there are nicer hotels but this worked for us. There was no construction while we were there.

Loved the area. The lake the resort is on was awesome, rooms are a bit dated but they do the job. Even with having the balcony door the rooms stayed warm and quiet. I'd return if given the chance

Hotel was nice and the location is prime. It sits at the end of the main street with a great view of the lake and easy access to everything in the town.

We took our daughter’s advice and stayed here. Incredible place. The amenities, service or staff were incredible! Right in downtown Lake Placid and on the Lake!! Just a fantastic place and we will be back

We had a bit of a rough stay here. We booked a premium room/suite that was near both the lake, and one of the outdoor pools. The state health department closed the pool due to unsafe conditions on the first day we were there. It did not reopen for the length of our stay. We politely mentioned we were disappointed when they text us asking how the stay was going. No apology was even offered. They just told us to use the other pool which was at another property, down the street and very crowded. We also had very noisy guests above us. Not the hotel‘s fault, except for the fact the old rooms mean you can hear a lot of noise. Lastly, the power went out. It was a planned outage due to construction, but nobody told us about it. The room got really hot. We also did not have Wi-Fi and we were unable to do any work in the room. When the power came back on, I let the desk know that we still did not have Wi-Fi. Again, no apologies. I would normally feel bad, leaving such a negative review, but we gave this property multiple opportunities to address the issues, or even just show some compassion and apologize. It seems to me, it’s not very well run.

We chose Lake House for the prime location and their dog friendly atmosphere and they exceeded our expectations on both! ||Our dog, Freyja, was welcomed with open arms and received dog bowls, treats, a bandana, and a bed. With your dog, you can go into any of the lobby’s attached to the high peaks resort. You can also grab drinks from dancing bears restaurant and bring them to the lobby or just grabs drinks at the den bar if they’re open. Every hotel employee was so friendly and helpful. Everyone in Lake Placid was just lovely in general. ||On the location: it is perfect for waking to shops and restaurants and to the Olympic center. We walked to the cottage restaurant and sat outside in one of the old lifts from white face with our dog. It is right across from mirror lake inn. We highly recommend. ||The only things that we didn’t love is that there were so many kids running wild everywhere in the hotel. The Lake House walls are very thin and kids are very loud. ||On the room: the bed and pillows are so comfortable. It is perfectly sized and the view was awesome. You control your own heat from a mini split. We stayed with a high of 17 degrees so we only really cared about the heat. There’s also a little green space outside your room if you’re on the first floor for your dog to go to the bathroom, which was huge for us. ||In short, we would definitely stay here again in the winter. During the summer/ peaks season we will be staying somewhere more high end and less centrally located to avoid the kids.

This was a nice stay, and our second overall time staying at the Lake House. The rooms are cozy and give kind of a cabin-y feel to them. There is a cozy bed and a balcony that overlooks Mirror Lake. Down in the lobby, there was a roaring fire and plenty of games to keep you entertained. We happened to stay in between two hockey camps/tournaments and the majority of our week we were the only two in our building with most staying in High Peaks-Proper. The hotel is out of the way of a lot of high traffic, but is within walking distance of most of the sites in town. Even walking at a slow pace we were able to make it to the Olympic Hockey Arena on the opposite side of town within twenty minutes. The only complaint that we had was that upon check in, one of the glasses in the bathroom that appeared to have been used. Additionally we attempted to order room service and were unable to do so; when we then tried to order online from the same resort restaurant there was a rather large minimum order. All in all, it really is a great spot to stay, we will be returning in the future.

Their customer service and employees are some the rudest and least accommodating in the area. Accommodations are ok, a bit dated and tired, But can't get over how difficult they are to interact with across all aspects of hospitality. Highly suggest exploring alternatives.

The Lake House was nice and had a unique look with nice decor, clean sheets, comfy bed and an amazing women (Anna) at the front desk who was extremely sweet and helpful. She is the true reason for the 4 stars yet my star off was due to the very very loud noises from the hall ways, room above and the room behind us. There were kids jumping, dogs barking and teens making noice while passing through the halls which was obnoxious. There are some hidden fees such as "room occupancy fee" aside from the sales tax fee which is silly along with 2 other fees- so be ready to pay an additional 20% on top of the nightly fee.

We were able to make a last minute reservation here and glad we did. Lovely location with a great view of the lake. Pet friendly as well.

Great location, nice room and environment, friendly and knowledgeable staffs. The lake house is part of a big resort, with a hot bath in the building. You have free access to kayaks and a private deck from another building right next to the lake. The main resort building has additional facilities. We got a room with the lake view and a balcony. The room is spacious and clean. Everything is wooden, including the chairs :). The common area is really nice to hang out - big window facing the lake, with a fireplace, board games laying around, complementary ice tea (coffee in the morning). Staffs are friendly and knowledgeable about the area - hiking trail recommendations, restaurants, things to do, etc.

Shame on me ,a yelp elite, for not checking the yelp reviews on this place before I booked . We have stayed at several different hotels at lake placid . I have seen this place many times and thought we would give it a try. On the good side, the location is good . Right at the foot of the main drag and it had a cool lounge area with a free pool table and a bar that is open for happy hour from 4-7. Bad ? We were put in a basement room with no view to speak of even thought the place was mostly empty . Maybe the top floor rooms have a lake view but ours didn't . We felt like we were sleeping in someone's basement . It's and older (60 years) hotel . So even though it has been renovated the bones are still old . We heard people walking around in the room above us when we were trying to sleep . The bathroom is old and industrial .. great if you like using gas station bathrooms .... me, not so much . There was a slippery slime in the tub and hair on the wall, never a good thing . The place is good for smokers , since you have a door outside and a little patio area big enough for two chairs . I say it must be good smokers because there were cigarette butts outside our back door on the patio . It's very rustic , a few steps above camping . So if you are looking for that experience then here is the place. I won't return and wouldn't recommend it . There are plenty of very nice hotels in lake placid for the same price . We have stayed at the high peaks which Must own this hotel . That was very nice . Stay there or anywhere else .

Room are updated but the walls are paper thin. If you stay on the first floor and it's raining you will hear every rain drop. Keep in mind this is s pet friendly hotel. When the guest leaves the dog In the room during the day, you are stuck with the bark. Bathrooms are tiny. Curtains are cut to short so you will get light in the room regardless of the curtains being drawn. Keys were also programmed wrong. Many better hotels in the area.

The Lake House feels so cozy and family oriented it feels like home. First night we walked around Main Street in which is in the corner our view from the room was the Lake . Second night we walked all over then we just wanted to relax our boys went into the pool after that we went to the lobby ordered food and played games it just felt like home. We wanted to stay another night at the Lake House but they had no availability. So the we had to go to the High Peak .

Pros: -Rooms and common areas are decorated in a cool, Adirondack style. You'll feel as though you're transformed back a few decades (in a good way!). All of the rooms either have a balcony or sitting area (first floor rooms lead out to grass, all others have chairs on private balcony). that overlooks Mirror Lake. Hard to beat the view from 2nd floor rooms here. Parking is easy, right out back. -Amenities: you have access to all of the High Peaks (parent hotel across the street) amenities, including the lakefront area, water sports equipment (kayaks, row boat, pedal boats), two outdoor pools (one on the lake, one in the courtyard of the High Peaks), fitness center, indoor pool and game room in the Lake House, etc. All rooms in the Lake House are also pet friendly with a pet fee. -Staff are kind, helpful, welcoming, and friendly, both in the Lake House and High Peaks across the street. -The Lake House Great Room is amazing! One of my favorite rooms ever. Recently redone with cozy seating areas and tables, board games, and a bar that's open every day around 4 pm. You can bring your dog with you to the Great Room which is a nice perk and they have a small menu from the Dancing Bears restaurant across the street that you can order from so you don't have to leave (pizzas and nachos are tops!). Cons: -Not a "fancy" place so might not be the best match for everyone. Rooms are well appointed and decorated in a unique adirondack fashion but might not have the fancy bells and whistles some guests are looking for. -The Lake House used to be a bargain (priced considerably less than High Peaks) but now the prices are commensurate for many weekends. We love staying here, and will continue to do so!

First, parking was very limited. We ended up parking on the side of the carport as did a few others. It was a pain checking in across the street in snowy weather. Some parts of the hotel are updated however the place reminded me of old college dorms. The hallways have a dirty feel to them with stains on the carpet. The bar was supposed to be open as it said so online. We soon found out it was closed due to covid. The pool had a rusty bottom to it which was very uninviting. One of the main reasons I booked this place was for the free pass to cascade center. I had called ahead asking about it and they also mentioned it at check in. We went to the ski center the next day to find out that we were supposed to have passes from the high peaks resort- so we ended up paying anyways. They should've mentioned this when I called or even at check in! I won't be staying here again

Perfect place to stay for a ski weekend! The staff was great, we had 18 people and they had everything (room keys, lift tickets, rental slips, etc) waiting for us when we arrived at 1am. The decor alone would make me want to come back. It's cozy and modern- I could've spent the entire time in the lounge area! They have a full bar but limited food. The rooms were basic but very clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable! You can walk into Lake Placid and it's about a 25 min. shuttle ride to Whiteface. Highly recommended!

When we first heard we were staying at the High Peak resort, we thought it was the main hotel and not the offshoot across the street. Lo and behold, it was the offshoot across the street. The lake house. The room felt like a basement. The only window was the sliding glass door which we couldn't open because it was frozen shut. It was definitely set up for skiers who just want to come in and lodge to stay overnight in order to ski. This was not meant for a family, let alone a hockey family with a ton of gear. There were cigarette butts outside of our door which never were cleaned up. The next morning, someone had thrown food off of the top floor and there was food and empty milk cartons outside of our door. The pool was tiny and cloudy, there was no weight room, although we were told we could walk across the street and use the weight room at the main hotel. There was never anyone at the front desk when we needed them. Our Internet didn't work and we had to call three times to get someone to finally answer and tell us "just login with guest don't login with your room information." We also didn't have room cleaning service the entire time we were there. No one came to clean our room all three nights, and we did not have a do not disturb sign out. The parking lot was a sheet of ice and the plow truck just kept going over the ice and making a horrible smashing grinding sound every morning. When we went back to our room in the evening after a day of hockey, there was absolutely no place to park and we were told we would have to park in the offshoot lot which was down a good 100 yards from our hotel. Our group was also told we were not allowed to use a conference room and bring in outside food, so our team dinner ended up being in their lobby while their bar was open which I'm sure annoyed a lot of people who were trying to have a drink after skiing all day. We were just not happy with the hotel and when we told the checkout person at the main hotel they offered us a free breakfast, however we just had to go to an early morning hockey game then wanted to just get out of town quickly and did not take them up on it.

Amazing people, view and comfort. Being here made our family feel like we were in our home away from home and everything was within walking distance. My one complaint is when checking in at the main resort we were not provided any information about the resorts amenities and even when we asking I was not told about a lot of the happenings at the resort like afternoon cookies and cocoa and happy hour in the lobby. It would have been nice to find these things out at check in rather than stumbling into it or overhearing someone else talking about it. We will still be back though, relaxing and wonderful stay!

The Lakehouse was the "base camp" hotel for our destination wedding weekend September 12-16, 2019; we rented out the entire property for our wedding guests because we wanted to create an Adirondack camp-type feeling where all our guests could hang out and mingle for a few days before our wedding on September 15. Our intent was to foster community and fun, in an easy, unfussy way. The Lakehouse was the perfect choice for this intention; it became the crucible of our community, a melting pot of cultures and cousins. The Lakehouse is uniquely suited for a group because of its giant "community room" with floor to ceiling windows that face the lake. It's a big cushy living room, with tables to play games, fireplaces to warm and gather, and a bonfire nightly outside on the lawn for s'mores and more (we played Viking chess, a German lawn game). We had snacks and drinks every night at the Lakehouse, and we hosted a sumptuous barbeque supper for our guests on Saturday night, the night before our wedding the next day. The food was superb: Tasty, delicious, more than ample, and the servers were attentive, fun, interested and happy. Throughout our weekend Lakehouse staff was on site to help us; Ryan was a fount of great local ideas and warm helpful feelings...we felt sad when we had to say goodbye to him. Our Lakehouse experience created the firmament for our whole wedding community, just as we intended...but it never would have happened without the months of help and guidance from Gina Cimaglia, Manager of our contract and point person from High Peaks Resort (The Lakehouse is part of the High Peaks Resort, but is its own special property). Gina worked with us months in advance, helping us form our ideas and add to them, so that we had the right setup, the right bartenders, the right help and furnishings, the right menus. Gina became more than a vendor contract, she truly became our friend. By the time the wedding rolled around, I thought of her as one of our guests, one of our family. Gina owned the details, followed through, nailed them down so that I didn't have to worry. When I met Gina on one of my visits before the wedding, it was instant recognition, one strong capable amazing woman to another. Her friendly openness and strong competence made the entire weekend flow smoothly; she came and followed up on site several times to make sure things were flowing properly. Gina is more than a manager, she is the face of High Peaks, the face of the Lakehouse, the guarantee of successful outcomes. Gina in a valuable asset, a great planner, and a friend. If you choose the Lakehouse for your group or wedding, you will be thrilled with the decision, the memories, the staffing, the food. Just be sure to ask for Gina.

Stayed here for a night this past weekend. Loved everything about this place, the rustic and wood feel. The staff was more than helpful and friendly!! The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. I love that it is right in the heart of Lake Placid, you can walk to all the restaurants or bars. The bar in the restaurant was nice and the fire place is very inviting.. Overall, excellent stay!!!

Loved our stay here. Kid friendly & Dog friendly the bad reviews are super annoying because in a town that can go down the kitsch hole this place stands out from the minute you see the modern cool logo.. to the lodge with its expansive windows and modern cabin vibe with big windows overlooking Mirror lake with a roaring fire. They do everything to make you feel at home including bandanas with the lake house on it for the dogs and fluffy pillows for them to sleep on. Rooms are dark and inviting with Pendleton blankets and if both blinds are drawn it's perfectly dark. Back door on lower level let's the dogs out for a quick nite pee. Bathroom is plenty big and toiletries are nice. Morning coffee and tea out for guests and mid afternoon hot cocoa too. Board games, fooseball and pool table and pool and hot tub in basement. Across the street from the strip of stores down Main Street. Only thing I'd warn winter visitors of is that NOTHING was open in December! Not tubing, bobsled, ice skating, or tobaggan shoot into lake. All closed Mid week leading into Holidays. We made the most of it and just relaxed which was easy at this cozy lodge. Highly recommended.

Another wonderful stay at the Lake House! It's so unassuming compared it's sister hotel High Peaks next door which seems more popular, but something about the Lake House I love. I guess because it feels quiet and at times you'll have the whole lobby to yourself. I love the design with red colors and alpine accents. The fire is always going and it's nice to sit and look out over mirror lake. Lake Placid is a dog friendly town full of well behaved dogs( I think they are this way so they can always come back) Lake house is economical in price and centrally located. At times you won't see any staff but It's easy to call High Peaks desk if you need anything.

I would give this a 10 out of 10 if I could. If you like a 60s modern clean design, look no further. There was such attention to detail everywhere you look. The wood piled up by the fireplace looks charming, the Pendleton blankets are beautiful, the paper coffee cups are perfect, the shape of the tub was neat, I got excited everywhere I looked. The lounge area is a very comfortable place to relax with friends, have a drink, and play board games. We did have the first room in from the bar/lounge area and it was pretty noisy until late, but what can you do. The room was quite comfortable with a balcony overlooking Mirror Lake and it's right at the end of the main drag in town. You can easily walk to breakfast and all the shops. If you are looking for an ideal location and especially if you have interest in design, this is the perfect place for you in Lake Placid!

Now I truly understand what people mean when they say it's 'all about location,' because there is absolutely NO way this place would be even an $80 a night place if it were anywhere else!! In addition to the concerns noted in other reviews, which I admit, I didn't even look at since I figured a place that was charging $711(GROUP DISCOUNT RATE) for 2 nights, would have nothing but glowing reviews! I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, airbnbs, vrbos, and resorts, and this, other than it was cleaned by the maid, place was TERRIBLE! The bed squeaked so bad, I didn't sleep either night I was here. The shower didn't turn completely off. The air conditioner sounded like it was trying to send the room into space whenever it kicked on, and there were only plugs available to use in the actual room on a lamp. I was here for a conference, so I just sucked it up and decided I would just sleep when I returned home, but if I came here to vacation, I'd be very, VERY upset. This was NOT worth the money they charge and unless you're willing to spend your time here in Lake Placid without sleeping, I'd definitely go somewhere else.

Recently got married in Lake Placid and most of our wedding guests stayed here! They were able to work with me on a reasonable room block rate, and many of our guests complimented us on the fair price and the hotel itself! They found the recently renovated hotel cool, centrally located, and they said the staff was very helpful as well. We also had our wedding after party in the "great room" aka the bar area here! We set up late night snacks (catered by the lake house/ high peaks team) in one section of the room and our guests had a lot of fun! The great room is gorgeous and I could definitely see it being an amazing place for a wedding too. Great decor and nice views of mirror lake and town! Katrina was great to work with on everything and we were very pleased! Thank you again for everything!

The walls are thin, and the curtains don't adequately darken the room, so you won't get a good night's sleep. The "hot tub" was more of a "warm tub", and the pool looked uninviting; old and murky and the whole pool area had a "cheesy" look to it. I observed two kids who were hoping to use the air hockey table being told it was out of order. There is no suitcase stand. The sheets are polyester or at best a blend ( i.e. scratchy). There was no bed skirt so you get to see the bare box spring. The " closet" has no doors, in keeping with that rustic ski lodge feel. The bathroom is tiny, and there was hair in the tub. There is a balcony. Ours had a used towel left on a chair out there. Wifi signal is spotty at best, and not very strong, it kept cutting out. When I asked at the front desk, the staff person told me they'd have to contact the host company, somewhere out west. I ended up having to upgrade my data use allowance with my phone company because of this. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful, and the view was nice. It is on a busy corner right in town, with views of mirror lake. The place is functional, but don't expect much comfort or any sort of luxury feel even though the price is high. It's more of a ski lodge feel and in my opinion way overpriced, hence the one star.

We had an awesome time here! The hotel has a great vintage ski lodge feel, with the most friendly staff. We brought our dogs, and we were not only greeted with champagne by a great front desk attendant, but our pups got Lake House bandannas with dog beds and Lake House bowls waiting for them in the room. We were here for a wedding, which was the perfect setting. Joe, the bartender when we were there, was fantastic. (Hi, Joe!!) Thanks for an amazing time!

Booked a hotel room at High Peaks Resort 3 weeks in advance, got my email confirmation. I also booked 2 other coworkers for their own rooms. On the day of check in my 2 coworkers were put at the high peaks resort however when I showed up they put me across the street at the lake house. This room is nothing like the high peaks resort rooms. It's so small I feel like I'm in a college dorm room. They didn't mention in my email confirmation that they would be putting me across the street in this cheap dirty "motel". They let me pay for the high peaks resort room and then sent me over to the lake house. The second I walked into the room my allergies were through the roof. The heat vent was so caked and filthy I had to take it out and clean it myself. The bathroom is so small you can't even move in it and the toilet is an old industrial type toilet you'd find at a gas station. The curtains are too short so as soon as the sun comes up you're screwed. Light comes right in. Not to mention there are cob webs and spiders everywhere. And I paid how much to stay here!? Waaayy too much for this shithole. They send out text messages asking how your stay is going. I gave them a 1 out of 5. Then they messaged me asking what they could do so I told them how I felt. Someone else text me asking me to call them and they butchered my last name in TEXT MESSAGE. Isn't it right in front of them? I didn't spell my last name wrong when I booked the room but somehow they couldn't type my name right. I am completely appalled at the way they conduct business. Needless to say I will NEVER EVER be booking with High Peaks for my next stay in Lake Placid.

This place claims to be a 3 star hotel. I'd give it a 1 at best. The bath was way too small and I think they had 1 outlet to plug in for the entire room. The bathroom door was metal and about 24" wide, well below most quality hotels. This hotel is a 1950's hotel with a coat of paint on it. Definitely not worth what I paid.

Service not so good, we came in at 230 wanted to know if we could check in early they said check in is at 4! Which is later than normal but they said they should be able to get it done early, but they said GUARANTEED check in at 4 so we came bck at 430 with no call saying it was done early and they said it STILL was not ready. Don't guarantee anything plus I really had to shit so I was banking on that "guarantee" was not happy... but lake Placid turns that around quick.

Had a great weekend staying here. Perfect view of Mirror Lake. Thank you Adam for being a good manager!

I looked the Lake House last minute as previous plans fell through. I booked the hotel as part of a getaway where I would propose to my girlfriend. The hotel looks great after the remodeling, with a beautiful lobby/bar that includes a fireplace, comfortable lake view seating, and activities for the family. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and was able to facilitate the room being stocked with flowers via a local retailer, chocolate covered strawberries, and champagne. The staff, primarily Jon (Johnny High Peaks) and Kevin made our stay a wonderful experience and something we will both cherish for years to come. We will certainly be back in Lake Placid in the next year and I am already looking forward to booking at the Lake House.

We were guests of Yuengling Brewery and they put us up here, what a beautiful place! The staff was fantastic, our room was large and had a decent view of the lake. The bed was incredibly comfortable. My only complaint was the wi-fi signal, while free, was incredibly weak. Our room was on the third floor so that may have had something to do with it.

Stopped in for a beer during my friends bachelor party. Terrible service, the bartender couldn't be bothered with serving us. We didn't want our friend to pay because it was his bachelor party and he still took his credit card. It would have been much better if the bar tender had been more congenial. Really need to work on people skills!

My husband and I stayed here for a 2 night escape, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We had a great experience from the second we got there. We arrived around 9:30PM, so we had to go across the street to check in at the High Peaks Resort - not a big deal since the hotels are about four feet away from each other. The guy who checked us in at HPR couldn't have been friendlier. He even offered us a glass of champagne as soon as we walked in. Um, awesome. He answered all our questions about the area, gave us the info on the hotel, and we were back in our room within minutes. The room itself was great - really big, high beautiful wood ceilings, fridge, and a balcony overlooking the lake. The lobby of the Lake House is perfect for a big group gathering with tons of cozy couches, tables, a fireplace, a bar, and massive windows overlooking the lake. This is definitely a great place to go with a big group of friends. I'm also so glad we stayed here because it's such a short walk into town for meals. We passed some other hotels on our way into Lake Placid that are outside of town, and I'm so glad we chose the Lake House so we didn't have to worry about driving. We'll definitely be back!

We stayed here for one night and came in on motorcycles from Mass so didn't get there till later and we were out the door the next morning so unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to check out all the amenities. Check in was pretty quick. They do this thing where they go check the room you're staying in to make sure it's all set, so that took a bit long but the gentleman checking us in eventually went to take a look himself and we had the go ahead. We were just caught in the rain on the bikes, so my patience level probably wasn't that full, so it most likely wasn't that long of a wait. The room was very clean, everything worked (a/c, heat, tv) except I couldn't get hooked up to the Wi-Fi. He gave me a number to call for technical difficulties but I didn't bother so I can't knock them for the Wi-Fi not working, since it very well could have been me doing something wrong. The room had a great view, even being situated in the back of the hotel. Parking seemed very cramped but we had motorcycles and they told us we could leave them off to the side where it wasn't an "official" parking spot. I imagine if we came in a car/truck the parking would have been an issue. They don't have a breakfast included with the reservation, which surprised me, because every hotel I have ever stayed at had a breakfast included. I saw an "Alpine Continental Breakfast" for $12pp advertised. When I went to check out the next morning I saw some pastries, deli meats and fruit on the table in the common room so I'm not sure if this was the $12 breakfast. I would hope not as it really did not seem worth it. Also, when I went to check out a nice young man came out right away and asked if he could help with anything. I told him I was checking out and once he saw that I was waiting awhile he told me if we wanted to, we could check out over at High Peaks. I felt more comfortable checking out where I stayed so I just waited a bit longer. I would definitely stay here again if the price was right.

We spent two nights at the Lake House and were thrilled with our stay. Beautiful modern retro design in the lounge/bar area and the spacious King room had a gorgeous balcony and the most comfortable bed I've possibly ever slept in. The only drawback is the slight noise issue, as we could hear housekeeping talking pretty loudly outside our door early in the morning. Everything was very clean, and food/spa options extended into the High Peaks Resort main building (enjoyed a lovely nightcap at the resort's Dancing Bears restaurant as well). Everything is within very close walking distance, parking is easy (lot is behind the hotel) and everyone working at the Lake House was extremely friendly and helpful. Perhaps the most relaxing thing about the hotel was the casual the check-in check out- process. Two minutes of pleasant conversation with the receptionist and you have the card key in your hands. We didn't have to wait for our room to be ready at all, and we were asked if we needed recommendations or anything throughout our stay. This was the perfect place for a young couple looking for a cozy, hip weekend in the Adirondacks. :)
