Great place to get away. It is semi-primitive with no running water or sewer, but it does have electricity, although I had to go out and buy a 100-foot power cord due to the electrical box being so far from the main setup area. As previously mentioned, Lake Hudson is a great place to get away from it all. There are trails, a beach with picnic areas, boat launches, lots of wildlife, but most of all, serenity.

Small campground, no water (except hand pump well) or dump station. Be prepared to have a long power cord. Ours was at least 80 feet away. We stayed on site 47. Large site, private, and level. Sites connect with small trails behind, nice for multi-family camping. A few waterfront sites, vault toilets are well maintained, the beach is nice, and they keep the sand raked. The dock is also well maintained and has kayak launches. Lake is no wake at all times. They sell firewood 3 bundles for $15. Make sure to put all your food away at night, the raccoons WILL visit. There's acute grassy trail to the beach, about a mile each way. The Dark Park does not disappoint on a clear sky night, so grab a blanket and check it out!

This has become one of my favorite places in southern Michigan. It is used regularly, but does not get overly crowded. The staff keeps the grounds immaculate - and the lake is navigable for fishing and exploring, but not for waterspout like skiing, so it is quieter than some and the animals stay nearer as a result. The campground is primitive, but well-tended and there is not a better place to watch the sky (designated dark sky observatory) for a meteor shower. Bring your binoculars and bug spray and stay for an afternoon or a weekend. Your inner peace will thank you.

This is the first time I made the 45 minute drive to Lake Hudson this year. While the park itself was in great shape and I met some nice people, I'm not sure what's happening with the water. You can smell the pungent aroma as you approach. At first I thought it was where I was swimming (by the pavilion) so we walked to the beach, boat launch and the peninsula. Unfortunately the algae and fishy smell of the water only intensified. The park is still great and I'm not sure the state of the water but if you choose to swim you'll want to shower right after.

Well this here establishment is perfect for anyone wanting to get a little break from the stress! Beautiful lake, clean sand front! This here is your perfect family get away and or family day! Whatever you choose.... Choose Hudson. It's camping spots are always clean, well sized, and maintained! The lake is always quiet and family oriented. Not a lot of those bad folks or them there thugs. We the people around this establishment like to keep it clean and nice. So far it's been a beautiful little spot for us all. So come down to enjoy it! We're all family here!

We stayed at Site 15 in a pop-up, there is another review about some tent campers in the same site worth reading. As a summary, we will not be returning, and it just isn't somewhere I'd recommend people to camp. Go to a different state park for the same price that will actually be a more enjoyable time. We had a decent time but honestly that's because we enjoy camping and not because of anything this location provided. Pros and Cons Cons: - The vault toilet is not emptied enough. Staff came and cleaned the seat and do a decent job trying to clean up, but it's obvious they get emptied on a schedule and that's that. Our campsite smelled like raw sewage- and we were over 200 feet away from the toilet! - No dump or fill station, only water is hand pump, non-potable. If you have a camper, load your potable water at home or somewhere else - you're not filling it here and there's no hose bibs in the entire park. We were counting on filling our popup's water here to at least have a sink. Bring gallons of water to drink. - Beach has plenty of goose/swan poop but that's expected TBH. - Rampant cost-cutting leads to a bunch of half-assed solutions that aren't good. The electric for most sites is half-way between two sites instead of just installing a pole at each site. This means that the distance to the electric from our site was listed at 40 feet, but it was actually 65 feet (50ft 20-amp + 15ft 30-amp cable). We saw one site where the power was at least 100 feet away from where someone would put a tent or camper. -No management on site, clientele is either campers that keep to themselves or twats that smoke J's; blast music; bring their loud, lifted, pavement princess trucks; or get blasted and harass women. No in-between. -Lake isn't well stocked with fish. Pros: - The park was pretty well serviced, grass was mowed, beach was freshly raked. - Nice dark spot, good for stargazing. - The lake is nice. - DNR drove through once or twice a day, so they have a little bit of a presence. - Sites are well isolated from each-other and are surrounded by trees. Not packing everyone together.

Camping: No trailer Dump station, I didn't find it, that is the only thing keeping this from a 5 star review. I believe the hand pump is the only water supply. There are a couple of vault toilets in good condition No cell service. Some of the electrical boxes are 50+/- feet from where you would park your camper or set up the tent. I was able to reserve a spot on Saturday night, a couple days out. But the campground was full when we arrived. There is solid greenery between most sites, but many Inner loop sites back to each other, ones on 26-50 inner loop are best for groups. The sites are good sized. No bad spots, just spots for different needs. The whole lake is "no wake", people seemed to be respecting the rule.

Clean, freshly cut grass. Freshly baked beach. Pet friendly. Multiple picnic tables and BBQ grills. Large play areas to play Frisbee or catch. Large swimming area. No playgrounds. Nice nature trails, porta potties. Great place for a peaceful adult afternoon of reading, tanning, meditation, and nature walking

Yelp
After a few years we are back to one of our favorite campgrounds in southern Michigan. It's a dark sky preserve campground with very few amenities. Pit toilets, hand pumps for water. Its so quiet and peaceful. Word of warning. Several of the sites have the electric box a fair distance from the actual campsite. We thought we had enough cord to mbv ake it. Nope, short by about 15 feet. Thank goodness the next day a friend who was visiting hit an rv store for more cord. Being that it is a rustic campground, there is no dump for RVs. A quick drive to the fairgrounds in Adrian or Hayes State Park will handle the for you. The starts at night are worth the inconvenience.

Yelp
Peaceful camping. Private sites. Sites right on the water, makes it feel like the lake yours for the weekend. Been camping here at least once a year since 2011. One of my favorite campgrounds.
