Lake Kawaguchi

One of the most serene lakes i have ever seen in my life. I visited in autumn and the weather was slightly cold but very lovely. It is about an hour and 30 minutes drive from tokyo On a clear day you can get scenic shots of mount Fuji The lake is next to oishi park which I also recommend visiting, there you will find souvenir shops and cafes

Absolutely the most scenic bike ride I have ever done. Even though it’s not the cherry blossom or snow-capped season, the view of Fuji mountain is quite spectacular from every angle along this lake.

Absolutely stunning. Must do It. Do it in winter for higher chance of seeing Mount Fuji. Enjoy the walk along the lake.

Lake Kawaguchi or Lake Kawaguchiko as I called it offers one of the best and most picturesque views of Mt.Fuji. The lake is like serenity itself with stunning autumn foliage. I highly recommend taking the lake boat cruise that offers 20-minute excursion to the lake. You can have sn amazing view of Mt. Fuji on the boat cruise itself. Lake Kawaguchiko is a gem.

The lake below Mount Fuji is a beautiful one. The rope way journey near the lake gives fantastic view on the surroundings and Mt Fuji. The cruise in the lake is also very interesting

Lake Kawaguchi is a stunning, natural lake surrounded by mountains and hills. The water was very pristine. There is a track and road around the entire lake which you can use for walking. It is also popular for people to hire bicycles to ride around. I found the area to be calming. Mt Fuji can also be viewed from here if weather conditions are good.

When i visited, Fujisan was not visible so the visit was disappointing overall. But the lake area is pretty and well maintained. There are many types of flowers planted and serve as a small consolation prize when Fujisan is not visible. There is a also a souvenir and food shop in the area.

Amazing tour. We got lucky, went there on November 3rd, weather was shinny. We rented bikes around Kawaguchi station (10mn walk away) @ jay store. It has been our starting point for this cycling trip. By bicycles we went first at Kawaguchi lake ➡️ Sai lake ➡️ and Shoji lake. We did reached all 3 lakes by bicycles. Amazing trip to do if the weather is nice. We have been able to appreciate the view of all of the them and characteristics. The paths to use for accessing all three lake are beautiful and quiet safe. Local people there were drinking safely and really took care of other cyclists. If you go to Sai ko, we will notice that this lake is more for fishermen so not so many people around however the landscape is gorgeous. Showing ko is well known for the view of Mont fuji and it's reflection. Be aware, if you wanna do all 3 lakes, it's taking time so the best it s to head back to kawaguchi from Shoji around 3.45pm, in November is getting dark and colder quickly. Us we did arrive at Kawaguchi station around 9.45am and took the train for Tokyo at 6.45pm Hope it will help. Enjoy Everyone

You want your Mt. Fuji and lake shot? This place is it...if she decides to show herself, of course. Depending on the day and time you visit there may be clouds covering the top of Mt. Fuji, but if you catch it on the right time you want to be here. There are some a few restaurants in the area where you can grab a bite to eat and then stroll around the lake.

" Great View of the Lake & Mt. Fuji Even Better " Our family was traveling to Mt. Fuji when we stopped at Lake Kawaguchiko. We viewed the Lake and had lunch at the Miharashi-Tei Coffee Restaurant. From the 3rd story of the restaurant we had a wonderful view of the lake with it's long whit bridges and boats. We could also see mt. Fuji over looking the lake which was a nice site to see. If you are going to Mt. Fuji, stopping at Lake Kawaguchiko is a must stop along the way.

Another great spot for viewing Mt. Fuji. I think among the five lakes this is one of the most touristy. Lots of hotels and ryokans. Even still it is still beautiful.

Super scenic and tranquil. A must see when visiting the Mt. Fuji area. Great photo opportunities will arise depending on cloud cover. Many hotels along the lake. It's quite peaceful waking up to this vista.

Great view of Mt Fuji on a clear day! I recommend renting a car and driving around the various lakes to find the best spot. We spent an afternoon here chilling, walking around the lake, and came back again towards the end of the evening for the sunset view. It was spectacular.

One of the most serene bases to explore Mt Fuji. Convenient to reach, with lots of direct buses from Tokyo (even Narita airport). Several theme parks nearby for young children to enjoy. If you stay on the north shore, on clear days, you can see both Fuji-san and the lake.

Day 2/3 of my Staycation/vacation bring me to Kawaguchiko. I'm really liking this area. The lake is beautiful and calm. Two minute walk from our hotel. Walking trail that wraps around the lake. Wasn't too cold for -1C. Watched some local fisherman catch some 1ft fish. The biggest plus is when visibility clear you can see Mt. Fuji from different viewing areas around the lake. Very peaceful. Will have to stop by during the summer for the fireworks and possible water sports. 23/100 Japan Yelp Challenge

What is there to say? I think the pictures speak for themselves. Fantastic lake town at the foot of Mount Fuji. Dotted with many little hotels and onsens, this is a perfect spot for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. We stayed on the north side of the lake and our hotel room had a perfect view across with Fujisan in the background. There are also plenty of boating activities on the lake if that's something you are into.

Pro Tip: Check online for live webcams of Mt Fuji before going so you actually get to see the mountain instead of just clouds. It's quite an annoyance getting here from Tokyo. I would suggest taking the JR Rail all the way to Kawaguchiko station IF there is bad traffic in and out of Tokyo. Otherwise, it will always be quicker to do a direct bus from Shinjuku Station. There are many buses during the day, and you must have a reserved seat. Kawaguchiko is the city on Lake Kawaguchi. To get views of Mt Fuji, you'll need to take the tourist bus over the bridge and along the northern rim of the lake. This bus can be a bit of disaster on your way back to the city. We waited for 45mins to get a bus as it runs every 15 mins, but with the huge crowds, each bus heading back to the city was completely full. So the whole trip can be a logistical nightmare. Notwithstanding, the views are incredible and the little village on the north rim of the lake is very cute and even had a festival while we were there complete with a fall maple leaf walk, street food, and lit up laterns along a river walk. Really gorgeous over here. Excellent day trip from Tokyo.

So much water. Right where Google said it would be! Land all around it, also mountains. Many fish.

Great spot for a combined view of the water front and Mt. Fuji. There are residencies and shops all around, but the one closest to the water has a cafe and souvenir shop. Prices are quite high for the Mt. Fuji specific items, and a lot of the other wares you can find at a duty free or back in Tokyo for cheaper (surprisingly). The area is known for their blueberry products, so give that a shot.

On a clear day, it has spectacular views of Mt. Fuji!

We initially were going to go to Hakone as a pit-stop to see Mt. Fuji on our way from Tokyo to Osaka, but due to logistics of closing part of the Ropeway (and the fact we MAY or MAY NOT be able to see Mt Fuji), we figure if our JR pass can get us closer to Mt Fuji (which was the entire purpose of the pit-stop) then what better way than to go to the foot of it! The JR pass will get you to Otsuki, which you then transfer to the Fujikyu Railway and for about 1140Yen, it will get you to Kawaguchi Station. Beware there are Express trains that have larger windows/views, but they fill up where you might have to stand. The Express versions are 400Y more which they will sell to you at the turnstiles. If you stay longer than a day, there are passes you can get to use the Fujikyu Railway to stop at other stations. I believe there was a stop (Chureito Pagoda) where there are nice cherry blossoms. We just went to Lake Kawaguchi and walked around to the bridge side to catch a beautiful view of Mt Fuji! They also rent out swan boats where you can go into the water and see the view from there. Luckily, on the day we went, it was absolutely beautiful and CLEAR! Also at Lake Kawaguchi, there are nearby shops and places to stay if you want to make it more than a day trip, but for us, a few hours was enough. While walking back to the station from the Lake (about a 20 minute walk), we found an awesome ice cream shop that sold lavender and vanilla ice cream. Highly recommend! Also if you were interested in the Kachi Kachi Ropeway (be prepared for long queues!) it is by the Lake as well. I believe there are buses that will get you to certain places, but we opted to walk! If you have your luggage, there is a nice restaurant/hotel across the street of the station (if the coin lockers are full!) that will charge 300Yen per piece of luggage to store it with them. It was a great last minute choice! Probably one of my favorite things from our trip!

Magnificent lake to walk around; best views of Mt Fuji! You can take tiny paddleboats out onto the lake, as well as larger ferry-type boats and speedboats. This was one of the highlights of my trip to Japan, I've never seen anything quite like it.
