We stayed as a family of four, in a Western Cabin with 2 queen beds. It was more light, spacious, and open than we were expecting. Even though it was June we were there during some cold weather where it was below freezing at night and the heater kept up great to keep us comfortable. The location is central and just about any area of the park is easy to get to by car. We saw elk, deer and bison in the immediate vicinity of the cabin and the lodge. ||||The lodge is nice and is supposed to have had wi-fi but we didn't get it to work. That was fine though because we had cell service in the cabin and we hardly needed to use it much anyway. There's a reasonably priced restaurant in the lodge that was not too crowded when we went. Beautiful views of the lake from the front porch of the lodge and also from the restaurant. ||||Our only real negative was the housekeeping--the cabin was quite clean when we first arrived although the shower was out of body wash. But when housekeeping came the first morning they didn't refill the soap but did track quite a bit of mud into the cabin and didn't clean up after themselves. We just opted to not have them come for the rest of the stay and that worked out fine for us. But at this price point I wouldn't have expected to find myself on hands and knees cleaning up someone else's mess. ||||That small negative though is overshadowed by all of the positives about this cabin. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and the location was great. I'd still recommend it to anyone planning to stay in the park.

We booked a rustic cabin in the Lake area of Yellowstone. I knew that the rooms were going to be light on amenities - as in, no TV - but was amazed that they did not have a microwave or a mini-fridge. Considering the high price for the room, I expected a little more of the "creature comforts". When replenishing supplies in our room, Staff only gave us decaf coffee. Otherwise, the size of the room and comfort of the beds were above average.

The views of the lake were amazing. We saw bison on the front lawn twice. The cabins are private and a short walk (3min) or drive to the lodge for meals. The Yellowstone Hotel is also nearby but I liked the more classic/rustic feel of the Lake Lodge. The view from the front porch was lovely.

Our cabin was excellent - clean, large, and comfortable. Dinner at the cafeteria restaurant in the lodge was a disappointment. My wife and I ordered the pot roast dinner. It was extremely bland and had no gravy, and the carrots were shriveled. My son ordered a hamburger that appeared to have sat for hours under a heat lamp. We decided not to return for breakfast. Other than the meal, it was an excellent stay.

The cabin had good access for a wheelchair. It was clean and comfortable. The service was very good. We needed more toilet paper and so when we were in the lodge at the reception we asked for some. The service guy was at the door to deliver it before we got to the cabin. Our only problem was there is no wifi or TV in the cabin.

The cabins are small but nice. The bed is full size so small for two adults. There was coin laundry in main lodge which was helpful. We went with dogs. We did not realize before hand the dogs are NOT allowed on any walks anywhere in the park and you are not allowed to leave them unattended in the room/cabin or vehicle. I'm sure if you had a camper you could leave the dogs in it. Without a camper it pretty much means you can not do 90% of things you would want to do at the park. We were a couple so one had to stay with dogs while the other walked to site, then we swapped. We could not go see sights together. You can not take them on back country walks as dogs attract predators like bears and wolves to attack. Also you really need to bring your patience while there was every attraction is crowed with hundreds of people. You have to drive from place to place and traffic is heavy. I don't want this to sound bad. It would be a great place for a young family to walk around and explore. All of the staff was kind and helpful. Fishing appeared to be fabulous. If we had not had the dogs we would have loved to go on a horseback trail ride. The scenery is breathtaking.

We were in a “western” cabin and loved it. It was clean and roomy. Elk were hanging out near our place in the morning, and we enjoyed a nice porch. I was glad we had our own food since there’s not much to choose from on site.

This was my second time staying at Lake Lodge Cabins. Staying inside the park offers opportunities to explore more of what Yellowstone has to offer. It can get extremely crowded at popular sites. Staying in the park allows you to visit these places before and after the daily rush. If you are planning a visit to Yellowstone allow a week of visiting to get the most enjoyment that the park offers. It could take a few hours or a whole day just to drive 10-20 miles depending on what is happening as you drive by….bison walking in the road, a grizzly bear or black bear with cubs walking along a nearby creek, elk grazing in the grass, wolves, etc. You cannot do Yellowstone in 2 days.

Yelp
A reasonably priced rustic cabin. It is fairly basic but is quite well maintained and is clean. There is no a/c but we visited in July and temps were cool at night and the supplied fan allowed us to bring in the cool outside air. I enjoyed being able to step outside and enjoy the wilderness. That made me feel more like I was enjoying all that Yellowstone had to offer.

Larry B.

Yelp
These little cabins are great. They are very basic but still comfortable. Ours had a queen bed, a single bed, and a pullout bed under the single. We only needed the queen. There is a coffee pot with coffee packets and cups in the room a nice bathroom with shower and a sink in the main living area. Lots of windows and also a portable fan in the room. Lots of electrical plugs and a clock radio although the radio is useless as there is no reception in Yellowstone. We have stayed in these cabins and just love them. We will always return when ever possible.

Yelp
Cozy, clean, plenty of wildlife just a short walk to get food and relax on the porch after a long drive

Yelp
We stayed here during our visit to Yellowstone and staff was friendly in the main building except for the night front desk worker. A young man that was extremely rude, I wonder what he does in hospitality. We loved this place as it had wifi in the main building. And the lobby was gorgeous. The diner place is ok but nothing high end, very basic and set up for convenience. Food was horrible:) but there was nothing else around except for going to the hotel so it was fine. The cabin was good - simple but clean and everything you need. Parking out front.

Yelp
Lake Lodge is where I stayed when I was in Yellowstone National Park last summer. The main lodge is huge and has a large porch out front that faces Lake Yellowstone. It is made up of logs and has two fireplaces and a gift shop inside. There is also a cafeteria/restaurant inside that was closed when I visited. Historic Lake Yellowstone Hotel or the Fishing Bridge general store are both nearby if you need some other food options. I like this location because Canyon Village is only about 30 min away and Old Faithful is an hour the other direction. Lake Lodge has 186 cabins with private bathrooms and is open from June through September. My cabin was toward the back and was pretty spacious. I had a small porch with a chair and table that faced the surrounding forest. The cabin itself was pretty clean and the beds were comfortable. There is no TV or refrigerator and wi-fi was spotty. But I didn't mind because I came here to be out in nature. Overall I had a nice time staying here. You can't beat the beautiful views of Lake Yellowstone and seeing all the wildlife that hang around.

Yelp
So I have to say this place is pretty cool if you like a rustic feel and be unconnected. The rooms were clean and staff was supper great. There was one staff member that stood out Jaguar (Jackie) provided excellent service and really went over and beyond to help us out to relocate the remaining nights where we could have wifi available for my work. It was my fault that I didn't do enough research, our cabin Had no wifi and mini refrigerator. Only wifi was at the main lodge (lobby) to make cell calls over wifi. Thank you to everyone there... my family had a blast *Warning * When we arrived to Yellowstone, we found out that the entire park don't have cell service for t-mobile. I recommend that while you have cell service, you need to enable wifi calling and roaming.

Yelp
We recently stayed in a Frontier cabin at Lake Lodge Cabins. There are 3 classes of cabins at Lake Lodge: Pioneer, Frontier, and Western. It's my understanding Frontier is the middle of the road cabin....nicer than Pioneer. I made these reservations at a date very close to our trip. I was looking for something reasonably priced. The hotels on the park are extremely expensive. The hotels off the park in very close towns like West Yellowstone are very expensive, too. We paid a base rate of $196 per night for our Frontier cabin. To the people saying this is too expensive, try finding anything anywhere near Yellowstone for this price. Lodging in Yellowstone and near Yellowstone is EXPENSIVE. This cabin was the best value I could find. I was looking at $300-$500 per night for a hotel on or near the park. I was unwilling to stay in a dump, sleep in a tent cabin, or share a bathroom with strangers. Yellowstone is such a huge park that if you want to see it all, it is necessary to stay on the park or in West Yellowstone. Too much driving is involved otherwise. This cabin was the absolute best value for what we needed and I'm so glad we stayed here. The cabin was larger than I expected, had 1 double bed with plenty of extra blankets, and a good heater. We needed the heat as it was getting down to about 30F at night. If the room gets too hot, you can air it out by opening the windows. There was a sink in the same room as our bed and a shower and toilet in a separate room. The room was very clean, had the cutest bear soaps, and looked very appealing. Rustic but comfortable. My child kept calling it "the cozy cabin." I do wish the bed would have been larger, but it worked fine for us, especially considering the cost savings of 1 bed vs 2 beds. I looked at reviews online and at pictures. Xanterra is the concessionaire for the park and according to their website, the Frontier cabins have been recently remodeled. For our stay, they were about $25 more per night than the Pioneer cabins. I thought it was worth paying the extra for a nicer cabin. It wasn't that much more. The cabin was nice and clean and considering it's in the middle of nowhere in an area with extremely expensive lodging options, I was thrilled with the accommodations. I would not recommend waiting until the last minute to make reservations like I did. We were very blessed a cabin opened up at such a late date. A week or so prior they were showing no availability for our dates. There is no wi-fi or cell service in the cabins. You can connect to free wi-fi in the Lodge (which is beautiful and spacious), which is across from the lake in front of the cabins. Lake Lodge is much more chill than the Old Faithful area. It was nice to stay in an area that was more calm. Wiley's Cafe is in the Lodge, and we enjoyed eating there. There is also a nice gift shop and a laundry in the Lodge. Every employee I encountered at Lake Lodge was very helpful and courteous. There are lots of wild animals at Yellowstone, including bears, even around hotels and cabins. I live in bear country, so I am very bear aware. I was not raised in bear country and can understand why people might not understand about bears. Before moving, I didn't either. Please be very cautious with your handling of food and garbage. Please do not leave food or garbage in your car. I was hesitant to leave food in the cabin, considering a bear tried to break into my personal home once over a garbage can. Obviously, you need snacks in your cabin. The only snacks we had in our cabin were trail mix and nuts. I felt uncomfortable with meat or cheese in the cabin. There are signs that say "no cooking in the cabins." That is for a very good reason. There are also no refrigerators in the cabins. Don't be afraid, but use common sense!

Yelp
I feel a little bit disappointed, and i don't think it totallly worth it. The service is good and the room is generally clean, but i found little flies everywhere! I don't know if it's same for all loges, but at least lodge A has this problem.

Brian A.

Yelp
Let's begin with the fact that this was my first trip to Yellowstone. We snagged the last available cabin at the Lake Lodge for Father's Day weekend, and it was epic. Epic! Being an outdoorsy guy, the cabin life was a dream. The cabins are beautiful, clean, and updated nicely! Also, we had a majestic Bison bull and calf chillin' just twenty yards from our front door! The weather was a bit erratic and the COVID-19 restrictions and policies left some adventure and education around the park for another day, but if I have to sleep on top of the mouth of a super volcano, the Lake Lodge cabins at Yellowstone Lake would be the place. It's simply amazing! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and worked hard to provide a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for guests and visitors to the park!

Gregory C.

Yelp
Spent three nights here. These cabins are located behind The Lake Hotel. We had a two double bed cabin. Small and cozy. Two minuses are there is no front porch to speak off, so if there is inclement weather, some precipitation might sneak into your cabin when you open the door. Also no refrigerator in the room. (Never mind tv or wifi/internet). Short walk to The Lake Hotel where their business center has four computers with dial up speed (if you really need to check your email).

Yelp
My husband & I have been staying in a beautiful campground near by. Our last day, we thought we would enjoy a nice breakfast out so we came to this beautiful lodge. The worst breakfast I have ever had! We did not see the rooms but if you want a nice meal do not come here!!!!

Matthew T.

Yelp
Definitely better than being in a tent that's for sure. The cabins are really like a dorm room and the beds fit that style with them being a full size and rickety. It felt like when we used to go on Boy Scouts camping trips and would get to stay in makeshift cabins. So the cabins feel a bit outdated but it is a cabin after all not the Four Seasons. No real complaints other than that. The cabins kept us warm. There's no refrigerator but there is a small bathroom that did the job. Overall, a clean comfortable stay so no complaints here. It was a convenient location too.

Rhiannon T.

Yelp
The lodge itself was beautiful and our cabin was quaint- definitely not worth 160$USD!!!!! There was no free wifi- or any service for that matter. Also, the sink was in the main room instead of being in the bathroom.. The bed was very comfortable and staying in the cabin was a cute experience. We woke up to a bunch of deer right outside our porch. The cafeteria at the lodge was not good at all- overpriced and flavourless.

B B.

Yelp
Great rustic feel in the heart of Yellowstone. We routinely saw Elk outside our room and Bison by the Lake lodge restaurant. The view at night was great for viewing stars in July. Room was clean too. Would stay again.

Jacky A.

Yelp
These cabins are old out dated and creepy. We were in D2 . Messed our reservation up. Then still charged us $189 for one night in 2 full size beds. Then on top of that we couldn't park at our attached cabin because it was a swampy mess Weeds everywhere. No tv!!!! No frig!!! No internet!!!! We had to go to the main lodge and PAY$5 for an hour of crap internet !

Juan J.

Yelp
more like old roadside cheap cabins. old, uncomfortable, bad beds and pillows, freezing, noisy. heat didn't even work. called reception twice and they didn't even answer. i wouldn't even pay $100 for this crap yet alone the $300 i paid.

Yelp
Low key, great location! My husband and I stayed here on our first night in Yellowstone, on our first-ever visit to the park. The location is great--we were in section E, which is a short walk up the hill from the lodge, with the lake across the street. The cabin is small, but was fine for our needs--we only needed a place to sleep and shower. We checked in at the lodge and decided to have dinner in the cafeteria since it was the only nearby option - the Lake Hotel Dining Room was a short walk away, but they require reservations and were fully booked. The cafeteria food was not great, so if you're staying here, maybe try to get food in the hotel instead :) We were a short walk from the general store, and there are some paths around the lake where you can walk or run (we managed to run 5k just around our cabin and the lake). One super cool experience--my husband left the cabin to get ice, and called me from outside to tell me to open the door--a bison was standing a few feet away from our cabin in the bushes! He was there for several minutes before he wandered off down the hill back to the lake, where he seems to spend most of his time.

Yelp
Just simply awesome location watching the wildlife while we eat our dinner outside the door. Room was spacious and clean. For June, it was comfortable, not sure about other summer months since there is no AC. The only complain is no wifi nor cel coverage. I am not someone who is attached to my cel phone but I do have an elderly at home that I like to check on every night. Not expecting to provide coverage for the entire campus. Providing wifi just at the lobby so I can at least make a call doesn't seem like is asking too much. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Laura R.

Yelp
We stayed for four nights as part of a Yellowstone association your of the park. The cabin itself was very clean and had all the essentials we needed. The temperatures in late July early August did not require the use of the fan really. There was no refrigerator which would have been nice but overall the bathroom and sink area were great. We were attached to another cabin but never really heard except for when I was in the shower. A nice way to enjoy the outdoors without being away near camping.

Shawna B.

Yelp
We stayed 3 nights in the Pioneer cabin. It was mostly as we expected- small, full bed, tiny bathroom, no frills. We brought our own coffee pot. Only thing I was surprised at was there are 3 cabins per "unit"- meaning you have very close neighbors. Also no view of lake but very close and walking distance to lodge. But we used the room for sleeping at night and spent our days exploring. So happy we stayed here and it doesn't get better than $88/night. We stayed in August and slept with no heat but turned it on in the mornings when getting ready. The lake area is great and has less traffic, but lots of wildlife in the area. The cafeteria is do-able and there is a decent general store nearby, but the best spot for groceries is in Canyon Lodge area.

Kara H.

Yelp
My family stayed in two types of cabins; the Western cabins and the Pioneer cabins. The Western cabins were fashionably rustic with wood furnishings and western decor. The lodge is beautiful. There was a small back porch on the western cabin and a front porch, both big enough for chairs. The Pioneer cabins were very small. There were some stains on the floor and in the sink but they were permanent (meaning clean but didn't look clean). It smelled a little musty but we left the windows open even at night. Our heat never came on (Labor Day) but we didn't want it to. We just put on lots of clothes and blankets. The water heater was right in the room. The WESTERN cabins were very nice and large. Small single keurig coffee maker. There was maid service every day and they refilled coffees and water (I think). I was in the pioneer so no coffee or water. The lodge cafeteria is adequate. The people working there are young college students or internationals living the dream. They were all nice but sometimes hungover or tired. I loved every minute and would stay here again. There were buffalo right near our lodge and beautiful hikes nearby. Wake up early and hike the little path straight from the lodge to the lake. The sunrise is gorgeous and you will be mostly alone. It seems like a very short trail but the view is indescribable. The trails in Yellowstone are mostly empty because people stick to the boardwalks. Hike in 3's with bear spray to save the bear's life and your own. This was the best vacation of my life. $90 per night in the Pioneer was well worth the money in my opinion and $225 for the western. The lodge, gift shop, and Fishing Bridge RV park where some other family stayed were super convenient. The Lake Lodge General store/deli has beautiful views of the lake and good food apparently. If you are picky about your lodgings and food, these places aren't for you. Try the Yellowstone Hotel. If you are on a budget and care about the experience, Lake Lodge forever. The Pioneer cabins are the cheapest with a bathroom inside the cabin in all of Yellowstone (so I've heard). So, I appreciate this budget option. Go to Yellowstone!!
