Sometimes the hubs and I just do things just because we can. Visiting Lake Minnetonka was on my list of things to do while visiting Minneapolis. We visited during a dreary day in the fall, so it was far cooler than my husband preferred. Although it was a short visit, I enjoyed the view. We look forward to visiting again soon in the future.

Lake Minnetonka is my favorite lake to go to just because it's close to home and convenient. Lots of gas stations, liquor stores, food places and lots of trails depending which area of the lake you want to go to. I love taking pictures of how beautiful this guy is and the water on a gorgeous day or evening. If you like the fish like I do there's plenty of fish out there whether you want to shore fish or ride along in your boat. It's always a great experience!

Very relaxing place. It was a nice boat ride on the lake. Very nice houses along the lake.

Solid lakeLake Minnetonka is a large lake located in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It has a surface area of approximately 14,500 acres and a maximum depth of 16 feet. The lake is known for its crystal clear waters and scenic shoreline, which offers many recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and swimming. In addition, the lake is surrounded by several parks and nature reserves, including the Lake Minnetonka Regional Park and the Grays Bay Dam Park. These parks offer hiking trails, picnic areas, and campgrounds, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The lake is also home to a variety of wildlife, including fish, birds, and mammals. Common fish species found in the lake include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye. Birdwatchers can spot a variety of waterfowl, including ducks, geese, and herons. In the winter, the lake freezes over, providing opportunities for ice fishing and snowmobiling. Overall, Lake Minnetonka is a beautiful and versatile body of water that offers something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day on the beach, a challenging hike through the woods, or a thrilling adventure on the water, Lake Minnetonka is the perfect destination.

Lake Minnetonka is the most unique lake in the state. Tons to do and see with multiple restaurants and bars to keep you going - first time? Bring a map.

Went on an Al & Almas cruise.Lake Minnetonka was beautiful as ever on a pre-fall day. The sky was blue the water was a bit choppy in places. But, overall it was amazing. The houses were gorgeous . We saw Jimmy Jams home that's been abandoned for 10 years. And we saw Johnny Lang's house just a few doors down. Best lake ever. I'll be going back again. Parking was a little tricky but there was a guy who directed us. All in all a great day!

Yelp
Lake Minnetonka is a great place to do water sports and go boating. It's located slightly southwest of Minneapolis. I visited Lake Minnetonka this past summer and the vibes were excellent. The lake wasn't crowded, but there were still plenty of people on the water. The view of lake Minnetonka is beautiful, regardless of what the weather is. There are a few watersport companies near the lake so if you're visiting from another state or country, don't fret! I definitely recommend checking out lake Minnetonka if you're in minnesota! Overall rating: 10/10

Yelp
This is truly wonderful lake. I've been told it's top ten in size by area in the state. A great place to spend a Saturday or watch fireworks.

Yelp
I love Lake Minnetonka! It's beautiful out there. The home you get to look at are pretty nice as well. We personally took the Al & Almas boat ride and they give you information about the homes and the home owners. The Port that we boarded our boat at had a nice small town feel with restaurants and shopping. I find it hilarious with people who are not from Minnesota don't realize that this is a real lake and not just a lake from the movies (Purple Rain). I look forward to Lake Minnetonka every time my friends and I make plans to visit or when I visit friends who live in Minnetrista, MN.

Yelp
As a Prince fan, I felt obligated to swing by here while I was in town. It was a nice and quiet scene... A pretty lake, under a bright blue sky, with the random boat or two sailing in the background. Lots of big, beautiful homes outlined the lake, along with numerous boat bays (is that what they're called?). Lots of fish were flopping about and there were a few people fishing, but everyone was catching and releasing, which made me happy. There were hiking trails in the park area near where I was hanging out. The woodsy area looked a little Blair-Witchy, so I'd stay clear after sunset. While I did not purify myself in the Lake of Minnetonka, I did take the time to adore its beauty. It's a lovely gem.

Yelp
Too many lakes! Too little time! Lake Minnetonka has been on my bucket list for a while so I HAD to take advantage of this GORGEOUS August day! Fan of lakes: check Fan of boating: check Fan of hiking: check Fan of biking: check Fan of seeing large, beautiful homes: check Fan of adorable, quaint towns: check I could go on and on but this area has the best of many worlds and it really satisfied my thirst of exploring, driving with the windows down and seeing local attractions. Honestly, I HAVE to come back again because there's so much to see!

Yelp
Had to come see the lake for my weekend of all things Prince yesterday. It rained so we couldn't get the full experience. Lovely area with cute shops and friendly people. Easy parking too. It's very serene and nice boats. You can take boat tours although we didn't. Walk the streets and enjoy a brisk morning of fresh clean air.

Yelp
Lake Minnetonka is by far a my favorite photography destination. There is so much to do off of Lake Minnetonka that I would be surprised if you even got bored. There are sights to be seen and little hidden shops and stops located in the many small towns surrounding this massive lake. You can see parts of Lake Minnetonka by heading through downtown Excelsior or going further to Deephaven and Wayzeta. Overall if you come across this part of the neighborhood feel free to bring your best camera and snap some photos.

Yelp
Steps for throwing a bachelorette party: 1. Rent a pontoon on Lake Minnetonka. 2. Have a the bride's pregnant or nursing sister drive the boat while the rest of you get weird. 3. Moon passing boaters and the big houses. But not the families, because come on, guys... you're not animals. 4. Don't even make it to any of the party places on the lake because the party is on your boat and really those places should be making it to you. The end. OK, in seriousness this is a fun lake and makes a great outing from the Cities. There are lots of marinas available for boat rentals and places to dock up for food/beverages if you forget your cooler. Summertime is the best when spent on a Minnesota lake. Agreed?

Yelp
Beautiful. Peaceful. A gem outside the cities. Great community. Nice for water sporting, dining and relaxing.

Yelp
Lake Minnetonka is the Lake Havasu of the Midwest. You will find a ton of rich kids with daddy's party boats out on the lake---it is wild. Most people like to dock up and create a little party city on the water and you can just walk for miles and visit and drink and dance to the music.......it is always very fun there are a few places you can boat to and dock and eat and drink too but if you just pack your cooler you will not want to leave the party.....

Yelp
The best lake in the Midwest. It's a terrific place to relax, enjoy the sun and swim. Best of all, the access to Wayzata and Excelsior is generally easy and full of good options for food and entertainment.

Yelp
Good. But I've been to better lakes in MN. Gets a little rough when you are trying to fish for delicious bass.
