Lake of the Woods Resort

We've been going to Lake of the Woods for about twenty years, and it has become one of those places that wends its way into our family's story in a thousand ways. We look forward to the trip each year, and even once we arrive, it still somehow feels like a real vacation. The setting is tranquil, nestled into the trees, and it has that cool, quiet Arizona mountain vibe that makes you slow down in a good way. The thing that really keeps us going back is, is the ownership and how they run their place. Of course, they've always treated us as people and not a transaction, and have gone out of their way over the years to take care of us on more than a few occasions. And that level of consistency, and pride they take in what's being done there is so rare that it really kind of shines through the way the property feels and how you experience something. It's well maintained, not overdone or commercial and great for families. You fish, you relax; you unplug and when you're hanging out together, it isn't over too fast. There are many memories here and it is one of the few traditions our family has held onto for two decades. If it's a peaceful place that is always good and run by people who care, then you want this.

Cabin # 20 is our most "fav" Cabin. Great fishing; great cabin. |You are literally "10 steps" from the Lake. This resort provides for all your needs. One thing you may want to bring is a pair of scissors. Easy for cutting|open your vegetable bags, lettuce bags, or trimming wild flowers. |We bring up our own ground coffee and aluminum foil from home. We also bring up our own Zip Lock bags, spices and "soft" toilet paper. Ha! |And of course --- food! ||Cabin # 20 has a total of three beds // 2 bedrooms. |One bedroom has a queen, the other boasts two (2) twins. |Plenty of couch area in living room to catch up on news or |your fav shows. Kitchen table comes with 4 chairs = there are|2 additional padded chairs located by the fireplace to seat at |the kitchen table; making it a 6 seat table. Plenty of room. |||Indoor fireplace and outdoor grill: Please do not place ashes in |outdoor or indoor garbage cans. The Office has metal cans |(specific for ashes) located by the Recreation Room. |And please always pick up after your pet(s) - it's the right thing to do! |This resort is really super pet friendly, pet policy is on their website. |For your pet's own safety and for the safety of others: |Please keep your dog on a leash --- there are roaming deer and other|roaming wildlife, and additional visiting pets. ||End of September 2023 weather was perfect - low 50's at night; low 80's during the day. We drove up to Alpine, AZ for a day trip - |trees were just starting to turn colors...a few, not most. |Of course the extreme heat this past summer did not help |with this years "color changing event." Darn it! ||Between hubby and I, we caught about 30 fish during our 3.5 day stay. |We used worms and red / white lures and yellow / green lures. |Trust me, there are 4lb.+ Rainbow Trout in that lake! We caught two of them.||For step trackers: you can easily get in 10K steps a day. |Just walk the entire resort up from your cabin to the 260 and back a couple|of times a day! Take your Canine Kid(s) for frequent walks and enjoy|the fresh smell(s) of the abundance of wildflowers and pine trees. ||There is nothing negative I can post about this resort -- for real. |If you are an outdoorsy / cabin-type person, this place is for you, |especially if you fish! We just love Lake of The Woods --- we will |rent there again three (3) times next summer, one week at a time. ||Please leave your cabin clean - pick up after yourself on the grounds.|I am quite sure the staff working there would be appreciative of your efforts.|| We love this place ---- if you are not an outdoorsy type of person| do not stay here. ||The folks at Lake of Woods work hard every day to|make your stay the best experience. All I can say.

I used to vacation here when I was a kid 20 some odd years ago and it's still just as fun and exciting as a full-blown adult now! Staff super fantastic. Super helpful. Really friendly. The cabin was beyond cozy. All the amenities were supplied we wanted for nothing. If there is only one thing I could recommend is maybe adding like a DVD player or VCR and having a small movie library. For those days where it's raining outside and you're inside all day.

Pretty outdated definitely could use some updates. However bathrooms and kitchen were clean. Carpeting in the main areas seemed old and dirty. We stayed in one of the large cabins by the highway. It was loud during the day but at night it was quiet which was to be expected. Kitchen was was lacking in some cooking utensils and there was no sponge to wash the dishes but there was a dishwasher. There weren't really alot of photos of the cabins online and the video depicted a slightly different impression. We thought they were individual cabins not 3 stacked on top of each other so with dogs it made it a little harder but doable. Cabin was huge inside so we had a ton of space. All and all it was an ok place to stay.

We stayed in cabin 5 which is a nice studio with a view of the lake. The cabin was clean but could use some outside cleaning. All the windows to look out were covered in cob webs. The supplies in the cabin are minimal. 2 cups 2 coffee cups etc. Our fist morning I went to cook breakfast and the only spatula was the huge ones used for a bbq. It was difficult to cook our meal. The first night we sat down to have some adult beverages on the porch looking out in the lake. The freezer has an ice tray made for a doll house. The next day while out we stopped at the $ store to buy those 2 items. Be aware if you take a shower they don’t provide shampoo or conditioner but there is a bar of soap. If you need a blow dryer be sure you ask for one since none is provided in the cabin.

It was wonderful. It was very fun, beautiful lake, and they have several families of geese that are there year round, and they eat right out of your hand. The best time I've had in a very long time. The staff was great, we'll be staying there again.

stayed there a couple of years back the cabin is quite outdated, furniture was filthy as was the carpet, the cabin had a bad smell to it, bought some scented candles to mask the odor, although we stayed in one cabin the others may be in the same condition will never stay there again

We stayed in a single room cabin facing the lake. The room was clean, rustic and had a single piece of an sink refrigerator and stove top from the '50s! It was like taking a step back in time. We were in cabin number 2 it was a little close to highway 260 and you can hear all the cars going by but after a bit you didn't notice the cars cuz it's so beautiful! The cabins are far enough apart where you can enjoy your privacy. The geese will open you with open wings! You're surrounded by woods and it's a nice little lake! It reminded me of summer camp. I definitely want to go back, if you're looking for fancy hotels this ain't the place for you! The staff is very friendly and helpful
