Seems like a very nice family oriented environment which is why we chose to camp here. In fact I'm here now. I am not happy with the way they handled a misunderstanding that they knew about, instead of coming and talking with me they basically allowed the other campers several of them to corner my family and let them yell and swear at us. It was a bad scene. But nobody has come to apologize or explain why that was ok. If I could get a refund I'd be gone today 8/17/ 2025, they've ruined my fun here people pointing at us when we go to the beach, like we are criminals or something.

Alot for kids to do here, if you can get them away from the pool and hot tubs. 2 playgrounds. A kid friendly zip line. Beautiful beachy area by lake ( no dogs ). Nice dog park. Mini golf. Love band Saturday nights at the ballfield. Bike riding trail over by ballpark. Just so much to do. Safe place to let kids go while you relax by pool or at campsite. Friendly staff. Friendly campers for most part. Great place meet new friends. Highly recommend.

We are from Florida and decided to take a camping trip to Maine. We rented an RV and Pemaquid was one of two campgrounds we picked. We quickly realized that this campground was very busy and active. We were disappointed that our camp site was not cleaned. There was trash in the fire pit and on the site. The other campground we had visited had done a thorough cleaning before we arrived. All of our connections were there. The sewer line was tricky to set up and required the use of rocks that were already there to keep the fitting on the pipe. Our site was on the road between the gate and the store and had CONSTANT traffic. Everything from pedestrians, golf carts, electric scooters and trucks. All day long. The store there had a little bit of everything including food and snacks. Our kids enjoyed the game room and the pool. We also went to the boathouse and rented a boat on two occasions. Our daughter caught a nice bass and the manager there at the boathouse gave us a plank of wood to write the size of bass and my daughter’s info and he hung it on the wall at the boathouse. Very neat experience. |Another negative about this campground is how every facility needs to be renovated. The bathrooms really need to be renovated. We passed on using the showers and bathrooms just because we didn’t like condition of them and didn’t like we had to pay. People should at least see a renovated bathroom if they are forced to pay for using it. Lastly, we were shocked by the shear number of kids at the campground. Some were driving golf carts at night without lights on and others going very fast around on electric scooters. To the point a staff member was yelling at the kids to slow down. One would just sense that all these kids are running wild and unsupervised.|I would recommend Pemaquid for anyone with older kids as there’s lots for them to do. But for anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful place to setup camp, I would recommend somewhere else a little nicer and not so rustic.

Love it. Hate that u can't stay more than 28 days. Don't get y that is but it's also June and the pool closes at 2 on Sunday didn't know that til I had everyone over and couldn't go swimming. And laundry is great but hasn't been open the hours it says 😞 but other than that which I guess it's not "in season" yet which I guess is y they were not cooking. Saturday. The atmosphere and the people r great tho

Pemaquid Campground is a place for active families. This isn’t a place you go to relax on vacation. If you’re there with family, there’s tons of activities for kids: 3 playgrounds, pool, hot tubs, skatepark, tennis, basketball court, arcade. They also host events on the weekends. This place is packed. Tons of kids running and riding around, making it a very loud place. Not to mention SO many dogs that are not quiet either (us and our neighbors showed up to the sites covered in dog poop). The sites are very close together, so you’re enjoying your camping experience with your neighbors. There’s a bit of beach access, but it’s pretty overrun with ducks/geese, boaters, and fishermen. The views in the dock area are beautiful, nonetheless. Some of the campsites have a nice view as well, with their own small beach. They have a store in the campground with mostly everything you could need, and the staff running it is friendly and helpful. The check-in desk and boathouse had friendly staff as well. The bathrooms are ok, definitely camp vibes, but get the job done. You do have to pay for showers. All in all: the campground has beautiful views, and tons of activities. If you’re looking to have a fun vacation with family then this place will satisfy you. If you’re looking for a relaxing trip… I’d skip.

The lake with sunset an sunrise gosh just a wonderful relaxing place I could go on an on about this place but certainly I recommend going here if you haven’t yet.

What a SCAM!!! Spend the weekend in a cabin cleaned it up beautifully and than waited 2 months for my refund deposited back and when I call about it they come up with bullshit reason why we shouldn’t revive a deposits back. Honestly disappointed my family and I have been coming here for year definitely won’t be coming back in the future. I’ll

Yelp
I have been camping here with my family since I was just a little kid. Every summer I was always so excited to come up with my family and meet new friends! It's a great place for the kids, so many things to do! Arcade games, pool, playgrounds, mini golf, corn hole, basketball, concerts etc . I only ever came back to our site for food or money. I do really miss the hay rides they use to do though.. I wish they brought those back for sure!! Always a hit Now that I'm older I have gone from tent camping, to pop up, and now we have a travel trailer. This is my favorite trip of the year still!! I like to stay by the water for the views and little peace and quiet. During the holiday weekends it does get pretty busy and loud, but I have never ran into any issues with my camp neighbors. For as big as the campground is, it's pretty well kept. The dog park could have some more love put into it but I'm sure my dog doesn't mind haha. The bathhouses sometimes get ruined overnight but the employees are there right in the morning to clean up. I think the vibe of any campground really depends on the people that camp there. It's important to clean up after yourself, and respect everyone. I honestly really enjoy how the camp hasn't changed much over the years, it's really neat to bring my daughter here now and show her around where Mamas favorite summer getaway was when I was just a little.

Yelp
The entrance to the park is confusing. The entrance is off Twin Cove Rd. The entrance sign has arrow pointing to the right. It's actual driveway is to the right of the sign. Do not turn right! We think the arrow should be pointing straight up, representing going straight ahead.

Yelp
We've been to lots of campgrounds in Maine, and it's good to know the actual vibe and layout before you go, so we looked at the maps and photos and called ahead to ask for a tent site with some privacy and near a bath house as we were camping with a 5 and 8 year old. When we arrived and went to our site, that tent area was NOT private it at all, it was in the 300's, and it was mixed in with RV spots and everything was crammed together with no foliage to give any feeling of privacy. So we went and asked what spots were open for that weekend that we could swap to and the tent sites in the 400's were better spaced and had foliage to make them a bit more private, but they are up on a hill that is quite the trek to get to either bathhouse or any part of the camp. There were at least 3 skunks that were rummaging around all night. The next night the sites around us filled up with very large families who were very loud during quiet hours, both at night and early in morning, playing loud music and swearing up a storm. The couple across from us were very nice and came over to chat about how awful those families were being and that they were moving sites as we decided to leave a day early ourselves. The lake is huge but because just the spots on the lake get that beach access, there is hardly any beach for the rest, and the water is very shallow. Staff was friendly enough but didn't really take feedback or concerns too seriously. Why this might be for you: If you have a large, loud, active family with kids over 8, then you might like it, kids were riding bikes all over all day, lots of activities, very busy, lots of showers/facilities. Par for the course for camp facilities. Or if you want a place to park an RV while you explore the area.

Yelp
When we drove in we figured we would be looking further for a site that night because of the kids everywhere and the slightly intoxicated woman I had an encounter with but then we saw site 322 and decided to stay a night. Then we heard the Loons! And it made my husbands trip! We ended up staying 2 more nights. Staff was so nice. Only drawback was pay showers. I decided to shower in the travel trailer for the first time. Pet friendly. Would stay again

Yelp
I was a bit worried about camping here, based on reviews it was an either you'll lovd it or hate it place. Well, coming from someone that has camped all over the USA with kids, we enjoyed it. It is very family oriented. Super nice people who have been camping here for many years. Tons to do for the kids and a super clean lake. If you can get a camp site (reserved by many long time campers) go for it. Our kids already asked about going back since they met so many new friends they want to see again next year. Great memories made!

Yelp
My fiancé, her family and myself stayed at the campground for a week and we stayed last year too. Her family has been coming here for 20 years and I've seen tons of photos from the past all over the campground. They've redone some areas for kids and the bathrooms. But one thing I've noticed is that the cabins have not changed at all. The floor tiles are exactly the same from the photos 20 years ago. That's why we were very surprised to hear they were charging us $50 because they said the floors were dirty! We used all the cleaning products provided and made sure it was the last thing we did and didn't go back inside after they were cleaned. It's a shame they treat 20+ year repeat customers like that but we'll probably skip next year and just go to the Poconos. It's closer to NY anyway.

Yelp
I have been bringing my daughter and her best friend here for 1 week each summer for 4 years. We primarily go here for the location. I grew up camping in Pemaquid (area of Bristol, not the lake) every summer and love the area. But the big benefits of staying here compared to other campgrounds in the area (for us) are 1) the size (amount of families with other kids also staying), and 2) all the fun "extras" this campground has to offer. Fun extras include: pool & hot tub; playground with zip line (and other playgrounds & play areas spread out around the campground); extremely well-stocked camp store; very convenient "snack shack" that offers lots of inexpensive food for breakfast, lunch, & dinner (great for when you're just feeling too lazy to cook at the campsite after spending a day in the sun); live bands; mini-golf; canoe, kayak, and paddleboat rentals, well-maintained beach on the lake with ample swimming area and clean docks; on-site laundry and bottle redemption; clean showers; arcade; magic shows, train & tractor rides for the kids, and karaoke. This campground is close to so many fun things to do in the area: Pemaquid (part of the town of Bristol) - Lighthouse & museum on the gorgeous rocky coast, Fort William Henry, the tide pool, Shaw's Warf (fresh seafood restaurant & boat tours), Pemaquid Beach, Round Top ice cream, Pemaquid Craft Co-Op. Bristol - the swimming hole, town library annual book sale, the Bristol Diner, the Granite Hall Store (This is a store that sells all kids of cool stuff, but we especially go for the penny candy. It's actually in Round Pond, a town next to Bristol.) Damariscotta - tons of fun, local shops. Boothbay - fun, local shops on a bigger scale, Dolfin Mini Golf, Boothbay Railway Village, Wednesday night community band concert on the library lawn, whale watches & other boat tours, trolly rides, Maine State Aquarium, Maine Botanical Gardens. Wiscasset - fun, local shops and Red's hot dogs(!) if you can stand the wait line and the traffic. I'm sure there's much more that I'm neglecting to list at the moment. At any rate, there are a few small things that prevent me from giving this campground 5 stars. One is pricing - I do think the sites and cabins could be more reasonably priced. Cleanliness of the bathrooms is not bad, and I know they have maintenance staff that attend to the bathrooms regularly (because I see them working often), but even still the bathrooms get so much usage that they get pretty gross. I think they need to look into adding more bathrooms by the camp store & pavillion to more evenly distribute the usage or something. Also, there does tend to be the occassional rowdy/inconsiderate neighbor - although I will say that this isn't really the campground management's fault...they do instill quiet hours to help with this. Overall we really like this campground and will continue to return.

Yelp
WiFi is very slow, trash and cigarette butts all around on the ground. People drive to fast for as many kids that are around and no one enforces any rules anyway that I saw.

Yelp
It's ok but. We were looking for something close to home with nice fresh water for swimming. We swim in the salt water a lot cuz we live on the coast. The pond really sucks here. There is no beach to speak. rocky Muddy shallow. Very disappointed. There a lot of kids and lots of playgrounds for our grandchildren so that is a positive. The campers near us very nice. 2nd day was better. If you swim off the boat dock the water not too bad You don't touch bottom stirring up muck. There r so many kids and playgrounds the grandchildren r having a blast. Our neighbors r nice but there r some here more than rough around the edges. Our grandkids left 3 various toy dump trucks at the play ground. When they returned they were gone. First time ever something has turned up missing a campground in maine.

Jenifer A.

Yelp
I think the theme of this campground is "wild children/drunk parents" If you like screaming, uncontrolled kids with publicly intoxicated parents EVERYWHERE around you, then this is the place for you! If you prefer a quiet place to swim, socialize, and sunbathe then RUN AS FAST AND FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PLACE! ! ! With over 700 campsites in a really small area, there is never a quiet moment. The "beach" is miniscule and happens to be along the front of waterfront campsites. The "swimming area" is mucky, shallow, and filled with huge rocks. I don't mean a typical, rocky, Maine beach. I mean that trying to get to the deep water involved a challenging hike through a rock and boulder ridden minefield! There is a pool and several cloudy, lukewarm Jacuzzis, which are also full of ill mannered, unchaperoned children. No lifeguards on duty anywhere. There is live music each night, which I couldn't escape. No one enforced quiet hours, least of all the live bands! There were "hay rides" which for some reason involved an old fire truck - complete with siren! The roads are scarecly wide enough for a single vehicle, but the traffic is not one way! The roads that are paved are littered with giant holes and crumbling edges - edges often meant halfway through the road. The unpaved roads are incredibly sandy, which makes for very difficult stops. While there is a snack bar, game room, playground, skate park, mini golf course, and paddle boat rentals, everything feels very outdated. They offer pay showers and laundry facilities. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. I'm sure many people love it there. I did not. It was a little too "Lord of the Flies" for me.

Allison D.

Yelp
this place is run by a bunch of rude idiots. when we booked we were told we needed a negative covid 19 test result or to quarantine for two weeks at. they said they didnt need proof of our results due to it being a HIPPA violation, however we would need to sign a form/waiver when we arrived. on the second night they said they needed us to provide our test results and told us "HIPPA doesn't apply here" which is completely false. we were unable to get rapid testing because we showed no symptoms and they said we wouldnt be able to quarantine at our campsite while waiting for our results from regular testing, which contradicts what is stated on the maine.gov website. they repeatedly told me and my siblings to go back to "f***ing massachusetts". very unprofessional and will not be returning, and dont advise anyone else to either.

Yelp
We drove 16 hours to stay here for a week on a recommendation from my parents. They stayed 30 years ago and said it was one of the nicest places they had ever stayed. We were not disappointed! When we pulled in at 9pm, we were thrilled to see there was still someone at check in so we could head straight to our site (they do have sites to park overnight if you arrive after check in.) We received a gate key, which made it nice knowing that you can't get in unless you are authorized. Lots for the kids to do and plenty of entertainment in the evenings. Pay showers is the only downfall I see, but the laundry facility makes up for that. There is a game room, a pool and a snack bar that serves meals as well as cooked and live lobsters! The lake "beach" isn't really a beach, but Damariscotta Beach is close enough that it wasn't a big deal to me. Close to a grocery store, local eateries and awesome views! Can't wait to stay again.

Yelp
Great family campground with access to the lake and also a big swimming pool with hot tubs. Bath houses were very clean and spacious. Hayrides for the kids and Live band for the adults. The campground store offers live lobster and plenty of other necessities. Would highly recommend and will be coming back next year.

Yelp
After camping here 20 years ago, I recommended it to my brother, who brought his family! Today we stopped to visit them but were told it would be $10 to park in the outside lot & walk in, even though we were just going to hang out for an hour and it was pouring rain so hard we wouldn't be able to even see the lake! How disappointing! I won't be recommending to anyone again!

Yelp
A great place to camp. We come ourselves many times a year and have shared the experience with 50 of our closest friends for a big rally 4 years running and many more to come...
