"This bridge rises just 16 feet above the waters of Lake Pontchartrain, but the real fear factor is that it never seems to end — it spans nearly 24 miles from Metairie to Mandeville, LA. (Once you reach roughly the eight-mile mark, say goodbye to land visibility.)" - Travel + Leisure Editors
Being from out of town, we just had to check this bridge out. Yes, simply it is a bridge. But how many times do you see a 24 mile bridge? It takes about 26 minutes to drive over. When you get to the middle part, you don’t see any land in sight. It can be scary. While driving, you can catch a glimpse of the maritime fishermen reeling in big game or catch a flight of a pelican. Driving across this long stretch of bridge was just something us out-of-towers to do and something neat to see. There is a toll fee to come back across to Metairie. I think it was $6. Nice little 40 minute side quest to complete while in the Big Easy.

This was the fastest route to New Orleans. We drove it during a storm and at times could barely see beyond the road in front of us. Even without the view, it was still worth experiencing this iconic bridge.

We enjoy driving over the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge to reach the Northshore. This bridge is truly an engineering marvel at over twenty-three miles long. It is also the longest bridge over water continuous in the world. The views are very nice and the safety features are admirable. A fun drive.

At first, it's nice to think that the bridge is 24 miles long, but it can also be a bit intimidating. Midway through, you may wonder if you'll ever reach the end and start imagining all sorts of worst-case scenarios. However, in the end, it's worth driving on one of the longest bridges ever built by mankind.

Pretty cool bridge, the longest in the world too! Time definitely passed by way quicker than I thought but for a tourist who just wanted to drive on the world's longest bridge it does just that, nothing more nothing less. What was cool was it took our airplane 8 minutes to cross the bridge to get to the other side!

Such a cool bridge! It took us 20 minutes to get to the other side. And we made it during sunset, such a blast! $6 for car.

OMG! I never thought it would be 25+ miles stretch. I am from Toronto, came to New Orleans for the new year. The drive on the causeway was amazing, it’s like never ending. It’s a must visit place for the visitors. But we need to pay $6 for the other way around.

World's longest bridge on a water body is this Lake Pontchartrain bridge which feels like never ending bridge.
Other reviews have covered features of the bridge but in my review, shall cover the important aspects especially for the first time travellers.
Things to note:
*Patrolling and CCTV stops are all over the bridge so no chance of stopping by and taking pictures. I didn't know this before arriving this bridge.
*You can setup Go-pro or inform passenger to take pictures on your behalf
*Theres a toll fee attached if travelling from South side towards Metairie. If travelling through Google maps to enable tolls else it'll not show the causeway path. As of Nov2021 toll fee is $5. Have a nice trip travelling this causway
