Lake Quinault Lodge

You really pay a premium for the location. The hotel rooms themselves are not worth $500 per night. The lakeside building needs some work. It seemed like most people's room doors, including ours, did not fit into their door frame easily so you would have to shove it really hard to get it to close causing a loud boom. Throughout the day and night you will hear the loud thuds of people attempting to shut their doors and some even cause the walls to shake. Luckily our room was mostly clean. There were some holes in the bathroom door where a hook may have been and some stains on the wall but the bedding and towels were clean. The view was phenomenal. We also lucked out and had a mini fridge. The grounds of the property were really pretty and well maintained and I really enjoyed the ramp that allowed access to the upper floors of the lakeside building. It was much nicer than stairs and allowed us to use the luggage cart. Also note that some websites still claim they have 2 EV chargers but this is not the case. You should charge in Aberdeen or Forks before arriving. Also there is no ac and the rooms can get quite humid.

As a family of four, we spent the week of July 4th first hiking Rainier and then three nights in Olympic Nat’l Park. The Lake Quinault Lodge and area are beautiful. You’re welcomed in to a large grassy area with Adirondack chairs, lawn games and view of Lake Quinault. For our room, we had two double beds with large windows that opened up with a decent view of the lake. We also had a couch with a hide a bed in it. The room also had a small fridge, a tv, a couple of fans and a small bathroom. ||The rooms have potential but are showing signs of wear - torn fabric on the headboards, peeling on the bathroom ceiling and the bathroom faucet was jammed allowing only the shower option. ||We ate a couple of times in the restaurant. The food was obviously overpriced with the location but was decent. Pretty basic, limited menu that catered to most palettes. ||The bar had some great cocktails that you could enjoy outside in the Adirondack chairs but again, you’re paying for the ambiance. Sadly, with the evenings staying somewhat light past 10:00pm, it was disappointing that the restaurant and bar closed around 8 or 9:00, especially on July 4th. ||We came for the many hikes in the Nat’l Park but this lodge was simply too far away which left of driving 1-2 hours to the popular hikes in Hoh or Lake Crescent. If the park is your focus, consider staying on the Crescent Lake Lodge and saving yourself hours of driving.

When we booked this place, I was initially worried about how it would be based on some negative reviews, especially for the money we were paying. Overall, I was very pleased. We were in a Lakeside double queen room with a sofa bed with our two middle school aged boys—it had a mini fridge, which was a positive surprise but maybe I misread the website. We brought in food for breakfast and snacks: bagels, cereal, chips, peanut butter, milk, trail mix, Clif bars, etc. Beds were comfortable. We stayed 5 nights and ate one night in the restaurant, which was expensive but the food was excellent. A nice resource is the mercantile across the street, where you can get beer, drinks, snacks, and sandwiches for much more reasonable prices. Heated pool was excellent. Nice trails you can access from the lodge. Views were absolutely stunning. A long drive to the northern part of the park, so if you want to visit that part, I would suggest moving to a second hotel after visiting the southern and coastal regions. Some hooks for towels in the bathroom would be a helpful addition-we had none. I would stay here again. If you are worried about radiator noise in the original lodge, I would suggest the Lakeside rooms, which have been decently updated.

There’s no denying this lodge sits in a spectacular location — the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, breathe deep, and maybe write a poem about a rustic hotel on a lake surrounded by trees. The setting is stunning, the historic charm of the lodge is undeniable, and dinner at the Roosevelt Room was a highlight. (Seriously — the NY steak, salmon, and pasta were top-notch. Come hungry.)||That said, the rooms… well, they could use a little TLC. For the price, we expected a bit more polish. Check-in was slower than a glacier in January, and when we finally made it to our room, we found no refrigerator — despite being told otherwise when booking. The furniture had a “lived-in” look, with dings and scratches that went well beyond “rustic character.”||Design-wise, there were some quirky choices: like the bathroom sink being out in the main room (hello, 3 a.m. tooth brushing spotlight), and a shower head mounted so high that unless you’re 6’5”, you’re playing a guessing game with the water stream. No air conditioning, but a ceiling fan helped — thankfully, the weather was on our side. Hot water was more “spa lukewarm” than “mountain lodge hot,” which might be invigorating if you’re into cold plunging.||One real head-scratcher? The Wi-Fi situation. You get a measly 90 minutes per day unless you pay extra — and even then, it’s slower than dial-up in 1997. We’ve stayed in roadside motels with better connectivity (and friendlier pricing).||Pro tip: if you book through Booking.com, the front desk may be limited in helping with room changes — something we found out the hard way.||In short: gorgeous surroundings, delicious food, and old-world charm — but the rooms need some love to catch up with the scenery. We actually had a better room up the road in Forks, WA, for half the price. Come for the views and the meals, just temper expectations when it comes to the overnight stay.

The only thing about this place that deserves 5 starts is the location and outdoor lawn area. Everything inside the lodge is run down, dirty and smelly. Like many other visitors noted, it’s a real shame that a majestic place like this has not lived up to its potential because it has not been property maintained for decades.. The main lobby area has ripped couches that are not fit for sitting because the entire couch is so old you sink into the hard frame. The carpets everywhere are stained, with chunks of gum and smell bad. The place is dirty and dusty. The video games in the game room don’t work. The water fill station doesn’t work. The outlets don’t work. I could go on and on….

Wow! The quiet tranquility found here is what you are looking for. Historic, beautiful, and welcoming. We spent the 4th of July here and absolutely loved the festivities that were put on. The customer service was fantastic- front desk was friendly and informative, kitchen crew/servers at the restaurant were the best (especially the gentleman who served our table and his wife that made our drinks, they were amazing). Rooms were cozy and the entire property had everything needed to ‘disconnect’ from the real world for a few days. I highly recommend staying here.

I thought this was a very nice lodge. We splurged and got a king size lake view room that had been renovated. It competed with nice hotels. The bed was super comfy and not springy. One of the best nights of sleep I've had while travelling in a long time. Would recommend another luggage rack. And bring your own beverages as there isn't a large selection available.

Beautiful location however the lodge, rooms, etc were mediocre. To spend $450 a night, one would expect furniture that is not ripped and frankly needs to be in a frat house, clean rooms, paint not peeling, multiple trash bags laying around until rooms were done being cleaned, grounds maintained, friendly staff. It was a disappointment. However the Salmon House restaurant just a few minutes away was fantastic and the trails were lovely. I would suggest staying in Forks, WA over Lake Quinault Lodge.

If it's your first time staying at Quinault Lake Lodge, you might want to know a few things. As can be read on various informational signs around the building, their historic radiant heating system can get a little noisy. The first night I slept here, I was under the impression that someone's nine-year-old was standing right below my window kicking a metal storm drain. I was so convinced that I nearly got up to go downstairs to complain! The next morning, of course, I discovered that it was simply a feature of the radiators at work. Once I knew what it was, it wasn't too obtrusive, and Iwas able to sleep soundly on two separate occasions. In terms of tech and internet access, expect less than you are promised. The TV and mini fridge that can be found in most hotel rooms are notably absent here. However, there is a TV in the lodge's public game room that you can use to watch any football games you can't afford to miss. In many ways, this adds to the lodge's atmosphere. The presence of a TV over the enormous picturesque fireplace that graces the main lobby would only spoil the charm, in my opinion. Food at the lodge's Roosevelt Room is mostly delicious and decidedly overpriced. The cheesecake with fruit compote available at dinner is delectable -- light, fluffy, and luxurious without being overwhelmingly sugary. The logger's breakfast off their 7:30 breakfast menu was also a hit. The crispy fried potatoes and fluffy biscuit were profoundly satisfying on a cool, wet morning. The downside is the price -- my party of three spent over a hundred dollars on breakfast alone. Five dollar coffee is egregious, no matter how good. Staff at the front desk was helpful, friendly, and well-informed. When we asked about visiting one of the local landmarks, the world's largest Sitka Spruce, we were given advice, instructions, and reports of a downed tree on the path to watch out for. The tree was, as promised, mind-bogglingly enormous. The natural beauty of the area cannot be overstated. No matter the amenities, the lodge's true appeal lies in the well-marked hiking trails, serene lake views, and isolated locale. Though I appreciated the elegantly furnished and historic interior, the real focus is the environment and surrounding natural park, as evidenced by the numerous informational plaques and photographed landscapes that decorate the walls. In comparison to other, similar lodges I've visited, the ratio of hunting trophies on the walls was tasteful and free of obtrusive creep-factor. The absence of a mounted deer head above the bed was much appreciated.

The location and lodge decor are nice, but that's where the positives end. It might look like a welcoming place to have a nice quiet stay in the down season, but don't be fooled. During our stay, a large, loud wedding took over all the common spaces, leaving no quiet area for guests to relax. We weren't informed about this in advance, and it felt awkward and overwhelming being surrounded by a party everywhere we went. The wedding guests were rude, and the noise went late into the night, disturbing everyone nearby. Even from my private room, there was no respite. We could hear everything. The hotel has limited amenities and little to do in the area, especially in bad weather. Even if we wanted to go outside, the wedding would've spilled into the outdoors (it was their plan). There are few competitor establishments around, and they all close early. Ultimately, we ended up at a local restaurant/bar with other hotel guests, just trying to escape. But from 8pm to midnight, there was no place to go than the hotel. When I escalated the issue to management, they offered no apology or compensation. The manager just got argumentative and made it clear that the hotel prioritizes large events and expects other guests to just deal with it. They won't notify guests if there's a big event scheduled during their stay. They won't take action to stop excessive noise, and they don't seem concerned with lost business or customer satisfaction. My stay was ruined. The bad management made things even worse. Avoid this place.

A friend and I stayed at Lake Quinault Lodge a few weeks ago and although the setting is idyllic, the lodge is just not charming enough to make up for its shortfalls. I have no problem with "rustic" and "old", etc., - fully expected that, but the rooms have very thin walls, extremely creaky beds (don't go for a romantic getaway!), no TV or landline (your cell probably won't work), very small bathrooms (we decided to wait until we got back home to shower), and the food was good, but somewhat inconsistent as far as overall taste/quality for the price. Oh, and you have to pay for wi-fi after your one shot of a few free minutes. Not OK. There was a wedding there the night we stayed and the main lodge was overrun with guests, of course, but there was nowhere nice/quiet for other guests to hang out. It turns out our room was literally right over the reception/ballroom. We could hear the conversations as well as the music. Since there was nowhere to go in the lodge (and it was pouring and dark outside), we went to our room, fully expecting to be able to watch a movie. Nope. Bring a book is my advice in case the weather is bad and the lodge is full for an event. They didn't warn us about the event and to pay nearly 400.00 (I believe it was 379.00) for one night was, and is, ridiculous for the amenities offered. Lastly, it's a cash-only situation, so come prepared. For legitimate reasons, it makes sense that they operate in this manner, so just keep it in mind. They have signs everywhere but on the dining tables. At breakfast the next morning, I inadvertently took out cash to pay for my meal. The waiter treated me like I was a moron and wouldn't shut up about how they have "like 1000 signs all over the property". Yeah, well, you didn't have one plastered on the table, so give me a break for forgetting I couldn't pay cash for my meal. They guy literally wouldn't shut up, no matter how many times I said, "I know - I forgot". Both my friend and I would not recommend to others. I hate to say that, but I just wouldn't unless you literally had no where else to stay and aren't into camping.

The location is great. The lobby and the lawn are nice. Everything else is disappointing. We came for a 4 night stay, but left after 2 nights. The room feels like a cheap hotel, old carpet, cheap mattress and sheets. You have to pay for the Wifi and even then it either doesn't work or only works very slowly. The food is dissapointing. I'm pretty sure our Cesar salad came out of a bag. No pastries available. No espresso coffee drinks. The staff were friendly, but they could only do so much.

Quaint lodge with cozy lounge that includes a large fireplace and windows to look out at the rain. The bar serves pizza from 4pm-8pm which hit the spot as I didn't really want to drive out in the rain to find another place. The server was friendly and went out of her way to make sure we got what we needed and had a good time. The location is premium, right next to the lake and next to some amazing hiking trails. The front desk did their best to get us situated well and even were able to move our room to accommodate a late change. The only negative was the Wi-Fi was lacking. There's no cellular service on Verizon there and the 30min free or paid Wi-Fi only worked in the main lodge. Plan ahead and make all reservations, research options and find directions before arriving to the lodge.

My husband and I loved our stay here! We stayed in the main lodge itself. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I loved that they were there 24/7. The entire place was clean and so beautiful. Having no a/c in the summertime was rough during the day inside the upstairs rooms, but we spent our days outside on the beach or lawn or doing the rainforest hike nearby. The downstairs was also noticeably cooler than upstairs, so in the evening we sat in the lobby until it cooled enough to go up to our room. I imagine the rooms on the first floor probably stayed cooler, so maybe if we return in the summer again we would try to get a downstairs room. By the evenings we would open the windows and keep the ceiling fan on full blast and we were okay. I wasn't shocked about no a/c like some of the other reviewers...it's an old lodge! But maybe offering a few additional fans would be helpful for really hot days. Maybe they would've lent us one, but we never asked. Our room also had a claw foot tub! Staying here felt like a bit of time traveling...we wanted to stay at a "Pacific Northwest historic lodge" and that's what this is! We enjoyed sitting on the back lawn watching families play lawn games, and we spent some time reading in the lobby. I took a kayak rental out on the lake and had such a peaceful beautiful experience. Great tip we got - If you rent them past the halfway mark of the time slots (so, 10am) they are half price! 10am was perfect too because the morning fog had cleared and the water was still calm. Once it warmed up after noon I returned the kayak and then a refreshing swim in the lake was so perfect! They also have a floating dock which was fun. As some of the other reviews mention, there's limited access to Wi-Fi...but, after having stayed at Sol Duc resort which had NO Wi-Fi or cell service, we appreciated the 30 minute free Wi-Fi access each day here at Quinault. It was just enough to check into our flights and check on family before disconnecting again from tech to enjoy nature and the lodge. The restaurant is certainly pricey, but the dinner food was fantastic and the portions were enough for my husband and I to share. The first night we had the pot roast and the second night we had the salmon. Those felt worth it. BUT, admittedly, breakfast was not good and WAY overpriced for what you get...you'd be better off walking across the street for a snack from the mercantile. All in all, we loved our stay here and would return for another special occasion/ splurge stay at a National Park lodge.

I went backpacking with some friends then we stayed one night for a treat. Quite expensive but nice place to relax. We rented Kayaks and toured the lake. Ate one meal at the restaurant which is also quite expensive. Great place for a splurge. Rooms are just ok they need updating

Paid $900 for two nights and expected decent rooms. There were so many issues from service to the accomodations. The room was dirty (feet were dirty if walked on floor), broken window opener, holes in towels, terrible bathroom, loud fan. Given there is no A/C, provide a decent fan at least. The outside was a mess and dirty. Does Aramark not earn enough to spruce up the property and provide decent accomodations for the rates charged? The service was not good - waiting for each time even when there were no other guests and borderline rude host service. At checkout, went over the issues with the room and the person just looked at me. I asked if he was going to take notes about the issues and he said he would tell maintenance - I'm concerned the issues will get addressed based on the service provided. And no wifi! Only second rate wifi service at a charge. The only good points were the food at the restaurant was good and the lake is beautiful. Will not be going back and would not recommend to anyone until Aramark cleans up the property and improves the service.

Overall this place was amazing. The lodge and the surrounding area is so so beautiful. My friends and I stayed in a lakeside room which I've heard are the newer renovated rooms so they have tv and mini fridge in there but there's still no AC. It was quite an ordeal because the day we were there, there was a heat wave and it got up to 90F. And yes only 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi per day per device and even when you get on, it's quite slow. It was $440 for the one night we were there so quite pricey but you are paying for the ambiance. $45 per kayak which you can rent for up to 3 hours.

This historic and majestic lodge sits on Lake Quinault. From the moment you step inside m, you travel back in time trough history. Built in the early 1900's, it is a great place to relax and get away from the stress of life. Deep leather seating flanks a grand fireplace where you can relax and let your worries slip away. The restaurant overlooks the lake for a serene sunset dinner! The clam chowder is an absolute must try!! Best one I've ever tried !!! The grounds are also very beautiful. Set in the Olympic forest it's lush and green. The lake is spectacular and serene. Just the perfect getaway spot. Rooms are older and charming. No tv or modern appliances here....just rest and relax. Wifi not included in room... must purchase separately...not reliable ... that was our only drawback.

The only thing going for this place is the location, and the problem is that the staff knows it. Aaron, the front desk manager, is an unprofessional jerk and I will get to him in a minute. The rooms were nice enough, but no AC was a problem on a hot night. The views were spectacular, and the servers at the restaurants were kind and the food was good. Now let's talk about the boat rental policy, which is my biggest complaint along with friend Aaron, who was rude to us from the very beginning when we checked into the hotel after they messed up our room reservations. So the rentals are only for 4 hour blocks. But the rental house closes from 12-1 for lunch, so if you decide you want to rent a paddle board or canoe at say, 10:30am, then you have to pay the full 4 hour price AND return the craft by noon. When I voiced my displeasure at this policy, Aaron decided he would not rent us anything. Granted my reaction could have been better, I never insulted him directly but he said in his haughty voice "no, I won't be talked to like that. You will not get a rental". If the ownership of the hotel is reading this, understand that your front desk manager walked away from $135 because of his misplaced pride and inability to deal with an upset customer. The internet WiFi policy is also a whole different set of issues. But the bottom line is that just because the location is great, a paying customer we should not feel as though they are being held captive in the process. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this hotel.

I'd give the actual lodging and amenities about 2-3 stars. It's a large property but there's very little parking, the noise level in the main building is pretty crazy, and the state of the room is very outdated and dirty. The view and property itself is very pretty and the restaurant is phenomenal. Definitely try the the wagyu burger and butternut squash ravioli! They're so good. I would like to rate the place higher, but doors slamming, dusty rooms, and the voices in the parking lot were unpleasant. I would certainly come back for the food though.

Stopped here for lunch and had a good meal here. Tried 3 sandwiches and all were filling. The fries were pretty tasty. Walked outside after lunch and the area is beautiful. We did not stay at the lodge so this review is only for the food and service. However, the views of the lake here are amazing and worthwhile to check out.

Lake Quinault Lodge has a spectacular setting and a good restaurant, with very nice service. So why not 5 stars? Details. No free WiFi. At this lodge's price point, WiFi should be free. One way I take a break is to get to go on apps I don't have time to when the "To Do" list is endless. I paid for access, good for 3 devices, but couldn't get it to work. Calling IT is not the way I want to spend vacation time. And, since there is no cell service, calling IT is not possible. The second item may seem trivial, but attention to details is what makes a luxury experience. The sink is in the main bedroom, not in the bathroom. Third, again a small detail, there was no dish for the soap. So, the soap slipped here and there and had to be pried off the counter.

Honestly, I had hoped for a little better stay. On arrival, the front desk was a little snarky. We paid 250 per night for a fireplace room. The shower leaked and the room had a run down feeling. I get up early and went to main lobby to find coffee. No dice she said and the cafeteria didn't open until 7:30. When I did get my cuppa it cost $5. The front lobby staff told me there is coffee in my room but my wife was sleeping and I didn't want to wake her. Anyway, a small disappointment. The restaurant was good enough but overpriced IMHO. We ate the second day elsewhere. Last quibble was the wifi. You got 30 min per day of very spotty wifi for no charge. The positives of the place is that it is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting. I would that Aramark would up their game a little.

This is a great historic resort on lake Quinault. We stayed in the rooms to the east of the main resort. They were clean, well appointed and had a very nice view of the lake. The Resort was comfortable a very large sitting area around a giant fireplace. A great place to gather or read. The restaurant was very good, but the menus was very limited. We had both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The food portions were very large and my wife and I split dinner, we should also have split breakfast. Her oatmeal was enough to feed 4, and I could only manage to eat half of my sweet potato pancakes and bacon. The bar was pleasant, but it was not well stocked, but the drinks they did make were very good.

Very quaint and it has a nice, warm and welcoming ambiance. It overlooks Lake Quinault. And you can sit inside or at the patio and/or at the grass while you enjoy food and drinks especially after a nice hike around the park.

I was told check in was 4pm and by the time I got there just after 5pm I was literally one of the last people to check in. I was given a first floor room that had stains on the curtains and no privacy curtain in the bathroom, therefore rendering the bathroom unusable! You can also hear everything the room next door says and does clearly. We might as well have been sharing a room for all the good the paper thin board of a wall did to give you privacy. i immediately went back to the front desk to ask for another room and was met with no help. I would have left that night had I not just spent 3+ hours driving from a funeral. AARON, "the front desk supervisor" ,was absolutely horrible, disrespectful and unable to do the duties of his title. Honestly they should just have an automated screen at the front desk that says, "you will not be helped and oh by the way our website pictures are totally misleading but it's ok because we are going to charge you full price and then drag our feet on refunding you when we know we are at fault." Unbelievable and completely disgusted with the employees at this Lodge. I would not recommend you stay here unless you want to throw your money away and have a terrible experience.

Beautiful location and quaint property. We had to move our room because we were in the actual lodge and it was too noisy. We moved to the Lake property and it was great. Everyone was great especially Isabelle and Samantha at the front desk.

Great if you want to live on 1930. No AC, room are way over priced. Place it for out of owners with too much money. You spend 400 night for a room with no Tv.,no internet unless you buy it and no air conditioning. They are playing you if you stay here. I stayed here twice and both times were not crap for the money. Stay farther away and drive. Forget this place

While we paid $197 for two nights in March 2023 using their special buy one night, get a second night free that we read about in the Seattle Times for a basic peek-a-boo Lakeview (more like the lawn view) room with a Queen bed, I would be hesitant to go back for the following reasons even with a discount and knowing that there is lots of hiking and places to see in the area: First, if you are offered small and noisy Room 101 which is next to the Great Room, turn it down. It comes with a super hard bed that will give you a backache, plenty of pillows, three chairs (you hang your jackets and coats above one of the chairs so that doesn't count), a decent-sized dresser, no table not even a folding one from the wall, a Keurig coffee maker with enough coffee and tea for one day, sink and mirror, a tiny attractively designed bathroom with a raised toilet that is too narrow to turn in, an ample-sized shower but not enough shelf space but plenty of towels, no TV or phones (okay as I wanted to get away), inadequate WiFi (they wanted $8 a stay for expanded access beyond 30 minutes and management whined they can't afford to pay business rates and said that they have applied to run a line from the road for better service), and steam heat that had to be turned down. Second, if you want to save, go to the bar area to the right of the Roosevelt Dining Room and order their tasty thin pizzas. If you dine at the Roosevelt, get the Rockfish Fish and Chips or the affordable basic salad and add grilled chicken or tasty smoked (wild) King salmon instead of overpaying for the item from the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Third, bring your own magazines and games and leave them for others to play in the Great Room in the middle of the lodge. Not everyone is into hiking without the ten essentials, smile. Fourth, the staff may suggest other places to dine at like awful Dinos in Amanda Park to the west but why should they suggest their competitors? Why aren't the menus for the Roosevelt Room and Bar in all the rooms? Don't you want to support your staff? Fifth, why is there a utility charge for the room and dining and a "voluntary" $1.00 a night donation for the National Parks, neither of which was disclosed in the reservation and I didn't see it until I checked out? .

This hotel is pretty, the grounds are well kept and the lodge has beautiful views. It's a shame that the front desk manager, Aaron was so incredibly rude to our family. He really ruined the experience for us from the moment we checked in. It would be great if someone could explain to him that he shouldn't be in the hospitality industry. The other staff however, were very nice including our server at the restaurant. The rooms were a bit dated, there was no AC on a very warm night, so we were extremely uncomfortable since we couldn't open the windows because of the noise. I would not stay here again.

Beautiful location, the rooms are dated but very nice. We were bummed to not have a room with a newer tv to hook up our iPad for our children to watch something other than the news. The general store was closed while we were there and the gift store did not have some items you might need last minute. The closest store is about 20 minutes away and has odd hours. There was also limited staff but a very full hotel, I will say the ONLY friendly staff we had were the two girls that we saw cleaning the lodge area each morning. The wait staff were cranky or talking bad about the establishment while we were ordering or waiting for our food. Btw you should expect some wait for food delivery, once you get the food it is great but the wait can test your pateince. The front desk people multiple times it would just ignore when people were waiting in line, both when checking in and out three people at the desk were talking amongst themselves and then two of the three walked away and the third person was on their phone. It left us feeling very only getting assistance to their availability and willingness to help.

It is very far away from some of the main spots in the parks such as Hoh Rainforest, Olympic National Park visitor center, the beaches, etc

Super special location. Lake view from 307 in the Boat House was a nice touch. The food was gourmet all around. Really unique flavors. Easy and beautiful hikes right across the street This was an unexpected find which I would repeat again next time I'm in Seattle

Stayed 2 nights in there most expensive room running $450/night. The shower was filthy! The fireplace, which we paid extra for, had such dirty glass that you could not see the flames. The front desk staff were not knowledgeable or empowered to assist. It's unfortunate that these national park hotels are run by a third-party who is only out for profit and not out to preserve the history. The grounds were not well taken care of. Very disappointing given the history of the lodge. Never stay again.

The charming old lodge turns 100 in four years. Tonight will be my third visit. The first was late 90s. Second I believe was early 2000s. Likely 2003 or 4. Those visits were probably late summer or into the Fall. As is typical of a Washington coastal visit, damp and drizzle are a constant. Looking across the water it's easy to forget it's merely a lake. It may as well be the Pacific Ocean since the not distant shore isn't apparent. The mossy giant sitkas and Douglas fir make me so happy as I stand and gaze upward, not able to see their peaks any more than looking into the dense foliage, the view denies clues to how vast it is. The rain forests of western America are my preferred places of anywhere I've been in my considerable traveling.

My wife and I stayed here from Friday, June 24 to Saturday, June 25. We paid $519.50 for a one-night stay in a Fireplace Room with a King Bed, but upon check in, we were told the room "had a leak" and were downgraded to a two-queen bed room in a different building. Although we were promised a 25% refund, this was never processed. During check out, we asked about the billing issue and were told the manager didn't note this -- they said they'd keep the bill open and we'd receive a call later that day. Over a week later, there's been no call, the full charge posted to the card, and the manager works inaccessible hours (often midnight to 8:00am). The rooms need a complete revamp -- you're only paying for the lake view. No A/C means sweating through summer nights. Wi-Fi was unusable from our room, and from the lobby, it requires payment (no cell service in the area either). Room quality was slightly worse than a Best Western for the price of a Park Hyatt. Aramark needs to address how this property is managed and create a better guest experience. Although the lake views are great with decent food, we're extremely disappointed with our experience.

Such a gem of a place to stay! Rooms were decent, location was a bit off the path from what we originally wanted, but I'm so glad we stayed here. The lodge's lawn has games- cornhole, bocce ball... Adirondack chairs... families playing, couples enjoying a cocktail while watching the sunrise, a few steps below boats on the lake. Absolutely idyllic. Inside, the restaurant was pretty good (fantastic if you compare it to typical national park fare). They have puzzles, board games, oversized chess boards, and a game room with ping pong, shuffleboard, fooseball. We were traveling with 3 generations and all 3 loved our time here. I didn't want to leave!

Room smelled like strong chemical cleaner to the point of being unbearable (and was too cold outside to air out the smell). The irony of being surrounded by clean forest air outside only to be forced to smell chemical citrus all night. The walls are thin and you can hear 100% of what anyone above or next to you is doing at all hours. As well, the only wifi available is tiered satellite internet - 5gb bandwidth for $16. Staff seems apathetic. Definitely sad given the history of the property and the amazing scenery to be had from the grounds. Room was $300+ for one night, and compares best to a run down Motel 8. Camping outside is easily preferable to staying here.

We had a short but lovely stay here in May of 2024. We had a fireplace room with a view of the lake, two meals in the restaurant, a house smoked salmon BLT for lunch that was outstanding and a perfectly prepared breast of duck for dinner that exceeded my expectations. The setting is everything here and it does not disappoint.

Am torn about this place, the location is convenient and the bed and room rustic and appropriate for for the setting. The fireplace room is so rustic and fun, but with no real service hard to enjoy. The lack of amenities for the price make the place a terrible value, of course the alternatives here are minimal and let them get away with charging what they do. What can you do, want to enjoy a dry and warm bed and a nice hike, got to pay thru the nose. Don't forget slow internet, no frig, no TV, no microwave and no cell service and minimal eating choices, they got ya, LOL I thought people were kidding about the thin walls, nope they are tissue paper thin.

We enjoyed our trip to lake quinault but we were glad we'd investigated first and planned well for staging their during covid. The resort is trying but there are a few shortfalls for sure. Regardless, it's a beautiful, timeless, classic place to stay. The lake is gorgeous and the trails surrounding it amazing. We love the rain forest. As for the resort itself. We stayed in the boathouse because we wanted to bring our dog. They supply a "dog bed" which is basically a piece of plastic with some stuffing inside. Our dog wanted nothing to do with it. No biggie, we'd brought one of his beds from home anyhow (when you're a 100+ dog most dog beds don't fit you) the boathouse was nice but the rooms were SO tiny! Due to covid they aren't cleaning your rooms, which is fine, but I really would have appreciated if they could have left a broom in the rooms. Having a big dog and access to the sandy beach and hiking trails after our first day the floor was gross and by day three we had to keep shoes on all the time. A few things that got to me: The shortened menu and raised prices. I realize they are hurting for business but that's not a great way to solve it. It's bad enough we have to eat in our tiny room but at least give us options. If you stay here I highly recommend bringing your own cooler like we did and feeding yourself as much as you can. Same thing with alcohol. Bring your own, for sure. Another great option is the salmon house just up the road or Dino's pizza in Amanda park. The WiFi you have to pay for. For the price of the tiny room I expected free WiFi. I don't understand why hotels charge for WiFi anymore.... We asked for the hotel to open a bottle of wine we brought with us, since we cannot dine in their restaurant and our tiny room didn't have a bottle opener. They charged us $10 to open it for us and when we questioned it we were informed we could buy a bottle opener for $20 in the gift shop. Really? That's just had service imo. It's not like we dined in their restaurant and brought our own bottle.... There were only 3 pillows on the bed and none of them were great. I'm kinda a pillow snob but I feel like 4 is a minimum knowing you've got two people staying there. And again, the dog bed was bogus. Bring your own for your puppy. All in all it's truly a timeless place and it's got a ton of potential with a few small changes. But the best thing about it is the area. The hiking is great, exploring is wonderful and it's so gorgeous.

We stayed at Lake Quinault Lodge on 5/4/24 & had a good experience up until we discovered a rodent in our bathroom. The lodge staff was unhelpful & unprofessional in their response to this situation. They asked us "what would you do if you were at home?" & said "they could not deal with another rude customer". There was no ability to move rooms, no compensation offered & we were without a bathroom for the night as we were able to trap the rodent in there. There was no management available on site. We've since filled out a survey & reached out to speak with management but have been met with silence since our stay.

We stayed in the Boathouse because we had a pet and that was the only place you can have pet guests in. I was shocked upon entering our room to find out there was no TV or microwave or mini fridge. My bad...I didn't check for that as I assume all resorts have them. Having said that, the room was small! But clean, updated and comfy. The bed was plush and nice. There was a dog bed for the pup. Good thing cuz the bed was so high she couldn't jump up. I thought we would have noise issues as our room was right in the middle with kids on one side and 4 people on the other. We did not have any problem. I turned on my music and let that play us to sleep. Please note: they let you have 30 minutes per day free internet and if you want more you have to set up your own account and pay for it. That seemed a bit petty to me...when we were paying over 200.00 a night already. But what do you do!. The scenery was beautiful and we did get a glorious sunset.

This place has really lost it's magic. I don't know if it's the disgruntled, overworked, understaffed employees, or Aramark's internal culture. Most of the employees don't seem to care. I did run into the front desk people who were great and our outstanding night shift waitress. Wonderful person! Read my review for the Roosevelt Room (dining at the lodge) for that nightmare experience. I arrived with enough people to have 3 rooms. I was supposed to get the lake view fireplace room. They placed me on the 2nd floor at the end so I had absolutely no view and an old run down room. At almost $400 a night, you can afford to update and clean these rooms. Just imagine what kind of room you can get at the nicest hotel in almost any city in the US. Another person got the same room but was at the other end of the building so they were able to see the lake. The 3rd person was placed at the opposite end of the property and was charged about $100 more then if they would have booked directly and had to pay a utility fee for booking through Expedia. Awful! Don't use Expedia. EV chargers: There are only 2 on the property. They are free but only 1 works. You'll find many online reviews complaining that the right side doesn't work. It's been many months and it still doesn't work. There were so many EV's that needed to charge that I was out there at 2am trying to charge my EV on the left side. What a mess! It's really slow to top it off. At least Kalaloch has a bunch of chargers that are free. Oh yeah, Aramark doesn't run that lodge. Lake Crescent only has 2 chargers too (Aramark runs it). That's so dumb! There's no cell phone reception so they give you a whole 30 mins per day of wifi! Isn't that kind? If you want more wifi you have to pay a 3rd party $8 or $16 (5 gb) per day! What is going on??? I get free EV charging but have to pay more for wifi here then any place I have ever visited in my life? This isn't a cruise ship. Honestly, I haven't been to a hotel that has charged for wifi in many years. I thought that archaic practice was over? Are some of the staff in an I don't care mode or upset that people are vacationing? I just don't get it. Maybe it's the rudeness factor that the US has experienced after exiting the pandemic. Here's an example, a staff person was vacuuming in the main room. That's great, not a problem, and I appreciate that she is keeping things clean. It was just a rug that looked clean so she wasn't taking care of spill or issue. 2 of us had to stand there and wait for her to finish. She refused to move! I just wanted to quickly walk by and I wasn't being rude. I waited after saying excuse me and her looking at me (and not moving). She was blocking the way to the door. I'm just so disappointed by this place. I've been here multiple times in the past and this was by far the worst. I really don't want to go back. What would you do? I would talk with every person that works on the property to find out what they do, what they like, what they don't like, what issues they see on the property, and how they would change them. I would more than likely fire every manager on the property and rebuild this staffing location. They obviously need additional staff. I would fire any night front desk person that thought it would be ok to use their pre-printed sign to disappear from the front desk for many hours (I didn't even go into that issue). Where's the accountability desk? Let's go to the restaurant, if it's completely full then you can hire more staff. If you are full and can't afford more staffing the you need an audit. Someone is stealing, mismanaging funds, and/or over-buying food and kitchens supplies. If you can't find enough staff then you have to take in less customers (reservations only and refer walk-ups to the restaurant down the street) or start thinking outside the box. Hire people to work and put them up in a dorm like environment similar to Kalaloch Lodge. How about having a small "bar menu" and let people eat at the tables that no one sits at in the main room? There are options people. If you're managers can't figure it out then hire new ones. Has the GM walked the property and come up with lists for the different dept heads? I'm not even looking and could fill out many pages of stuff that needs to be done. Oh yeah, the game room for kids is an absolute dump with broken games and missing parts! The shuffle board isn't usable. No, I'm not looking for a job but this place could be run much better with the same budget or one that's offset with the amount of gross profit being brought in to justify additional staff.

Reserved under promotion of two nights for one price. Learned upon arrival that I would be charged full price because my AAA membership had been applied. I never gave them nor did I ask for AAA discover applied. Very unhappy. Also no maid service for two nights.

I'm not sure how we had a different experience, but here's what we noticed: - Clean room - Spacious - Super incredible, unobstructed (by other rooms) lake view - Close parking We pulled in after dark and didn't quite known what was beyond our small balcony (when I say small, I mean small... but we didn't use it or need it). We woke up to a gorgeous lake view with a trail right there to walk into the forest. It was quiet and to our knowledge, we had no neighbors. This may be a much busier, very different experience if it weren't off season. We were here because it's fall break for our kids and therefore we snuck in a visit that was light on the people (yay!). I wouldn't honestly change much. Beds were comfy, room was warm (too warm-- had to turn it down mid-night because I didn't trust it and had it on high, oof!), views for days. We'd definitely stay here again.

Really enjoyed this place. Only stayed a night, but it was a very nice location for a trip to Mount Olympic Park. We had a king bed fireplace room with a view of the lake. No frills and no A/C but the weather was nice so not critical. The property is so serene and the hiking trails nearby are beautiful. Food at the restaurant was good as well.

So sorry to have to give this review to Lake Quinault Lodge. We have been coming to the Lake for our anniversary for over fifteen years. We could not be more disappointed in our trip this year. The lodge was unkempt. The staff was very limited and the internet was only available in one room. In the banquet room where the internet was available the seats on the chairs were nasty. Our room only had hot water for one night. We had looked forward to this for so long. Without a change of management we will not be returning.

Torn between giving 3 or 4 stars. I will give it four. 1 star for location - there are awesome trails across the street! You can park at the hotel and hike around. Lodge is right on the lake. 1 star for being a historic hotel. Nice big lobby with fireplace and beautiful grounds, etc. Rates are a bit spending though. 1 star for friendly staff - Kim the manager, and maintenance team was great. Notably Jeff was very helpful. 1 star for being pet friendly 1 negative star for the rooms - just nothing special! Stayed in the boat house. Paper thin walls (you could hear your next door neighbors conversation). For the price they should be nicer. Pretty standard and small. No mini fridge, or anything but a chair in the corner that was so close to the wall you couldn't even enjoy sitting in it. You literally would be squeezed in by the dresser and the wall. Nor was my room very clean. Bathroom sink was dirty and so was the floors. Overall great location and views (right on the lake). I would stay here again.

We walked around the exterior lawn and saw the lobby area. There is a lot of seating for guests. I'm not sure how to rooms look like but I probably would prefer Lake Crescent Lodge over this one.

We availed ourselves of the early 2023 BOGO offer which provides, by far, the cheapest historic lodging opportunity in or close to Olympic National. We booked three days. The third day was excluded from the BOGO, which strikes me as bogus. We should have stayed another day, but it was impossible to cypher this out prior to purchase. The staff was accommodating and kind and the building, setting, and grounds were spectacular. In particular, the morning after we arrived, 3/25/23, there had been snowfall overnight on the higher elevations of the forested hills directly across the lake. We went down to breakfast early, just after dawn, for no specific reason, and gaped, spellbound, as the sun swept across the snow-clad conifers. It was literally operatic. Unfortunately the food offerings of the restaurant were consistently flawed by too much salt. The basic recipes and flawless presentation seem very solid, but dang, stop the sodium, dudes. I would also critique the shallow pours at the host bar for the ASTONISHING and magnificent main lobby room. Aside from the scenery, the reason to stay at this place is the main fireplace room. No television, no internet, just windows, books, boardgames, and refreshments. Despite the bumps (small drinks, needlessly salty food, bogus pricing) we loved it and might visit again. That breakfast watching the sun sweep down the snowy trees was an absolute life experience.

Lake Quinault Lodge was a beautiful and stately respite from our busy lives. We traveled to Washington National Park in September so we did not encounter a lot of tourists or traffic. The lumber truckers are scary on the road though! Our room was right on the lake where we saw an amazing rainbow right from our balcony. It was quiet and idyllic and the guests are very respectful about privacy and solitude. The lodge has a cool mountain type gathering space where people mingled during the cocktail hour. They had plentiful adult beverages at night and a no cost coffee bar in the morning. Our timing was unfortunate due to Covid and labor issues so there was definitely a challenge with dining. The take out from the Roosevelt Dining Room was not outstanding and there was limited in-house capacity. There are very few dining options in the area (actually none when we stayed here), so we drove to a nearby town and stocked up on sandwich makings, charcuterie and wine and picnicked in our lovely room. There was a sofa with a coffee table so we were comfortable. I had to triple pay for my WIFI because for some reason the quantity never rolled over to the next day. I did need to WFH, so if that is on your agenda, plan a little extra in your budget to cover the cost. The gift shop is loaded with awesome locally made products for you to sneak home for those stocking stuffers! Pick up a hiking map and explore those rain forest waterfalls!

But our most recent stay, the new manager (Michael) made everything PERFECT! Great room and great price and even some goodies in the room to say..... Sorry! Great place, great management. great staff! Expensive, but worth it!

Stayed here one two chilly, rainy April days and had a very lovely time. The double-queen room we had (407) was fine - nothing special but clean and comfortable enough. It could use some updating and upgraded towels, linens, etc. but we didn't expect high-end. And we didn't spend any time in the room beyond sleeping and showering. It did have a nice lake view, however. The lodge itself is fantastic - great fireplace, leather seating arrangements, games, bar, books, and a beautiful patio and lake view. It's wonderful to hang out there. There are also many terrific trails to hike right from the lodge. The restaurant was great too. We ate dinner and breakfast there and were very happy with everything. It's a little pricey, but it is what we would expect given the location and quality of the food. Overall, I'd totally recommend this spot for a rustic, historic lodge experience in the heart of national park beauty.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful resort! Our fireplace room had everything we needed, including a covered balcony overlooking the lake. The lobby has a gorgeous huge fireplace, and multiple couches for relaxing. You can't eat in the restaurant but you can purchase takeout, including drinks, and eat in the lobby or on the deck. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, which for me is what makes it lovely. Highly recommend. There are not enough blankets in the room, but I saw that in another review and brought my own. The crispy duck was literally inedible (I suspect it had gone bad, maybe?), but the staff was incredibly gracious about it and replaced it with a delicious burger. One caveat - this is not Vegas. There is nothing to do. If you enjoy hiking, fishing, and spending quiet time with your loved one, this is the place. If you need constant entertainment (or WiFi) this is not the place.

I'm only giving this place two stars because the staff were helpful and friendly, and it's not their fault this hotel is so poorly run. My partner booked a room with a bathtub and mini fridge online, and also spoke with an employee on the phone confirming those amenities. The room we were given didn't have either and my partner never received the promised refund. There's also no free wifi at this hotel (in 2022???). There's no cell reception either, so if you like being completely cut off from society this hotel is perfect for you. The walls are so thin the lodge feels like a noisy dorm. There are none of the usual amenities like TV, complimentary breakfast, etc. Overall it was a huge rip off. Upper management/owners need to make major changes to better accommodate guests :/

I enjoyed my stay here. If you're looking to unplug, literally, this is the place for you. There's no TV, microwave or fridge in the rooms. Make sure you get a room with a view so at least to catch a glimpse of the sunrises and the lake. It was a super rainy weekend when I visited, nothing much to do other than read books in the lobby, swim in the small pool, and take lots of cat naps. There's a restaurant downstairs or another about a mile away. Downside is, there is no cell service, you only get 30 minutes of free Internet, you'd have to pay for more. The rooms are creaky, small and outdated especially for the price you pay, no room service or house keeping during your stay. Overall, this is an introverts' heaven.
