Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant

Two months ago, we made a reservation for a party of 18 at another nearby venue to celebrate our dad’s 8Oth birthday. It felt like the perfect place — it holds so many precious family memories, including 2 of our weddings. When we arrived, we were told they didn’t have our reservation and couldn’t accommodate our group. We were absolutely heartbroken. After planning this special celebration for months, it was devastating. Our family had traveled from Charleston, Rock Hill, Greenville, south Georgia, Athens and Atlanta just for this meal. In the midst of the disappointment, we called Lake Rabun Hotel, and they immediately told us to come on over. From the moment we walked in, they welcomed us so graciously. They accommodated our large party with warmth and professionalism. Tony was our waitress, and she was absolutely amazing with our large party. She was attentive, kind, organized, and made my dad feel so special on his big day. What began as a huge heartbreak turned into a truly beautiful evening filled with incredible food, outstanding service, and gratitude. We are so thankful to Lake Rabun Hotel for saving such an important celebration for our family.

My husband and I had our Anniversary stay here for two nights. We have stayed here before and love the cozy vibe of this quaint hotel. However, we were a little disappointed with the room because of the hot water in the shower not working and very low water pressure for the first night and the next day. I brought it to the attention of the desk clerk and she was very apologetic and would bring it to the attention of the manager. We were thankful it was working on the day we left! As for dinner the first night was perfect. Food was great and drinks were top notch. The second night however the food was cold, and undercooked. We love the area and the staff was very friendly, but probably won't be back.

The location was in beautiful Lakemont Georgia across the road from Lake Rabun. There were different spots where you could see the lake even though it wasn’t right on it. There were beautiful areas indoor and out where you could relax. I enjoyed reading on the veranda where you could enjoy the beautiful fall weather and leaves. The weather was perfect for sweaters and hiking. We went on a hiking trail to Hemlock Falls which was gorgeous. One day we went on a drive on Tallulah River road and enjoyed that. We enjoyed 2 restaurants in Clayton, favorite was the Friends of Clayton Cafe. |They had delicious burgers that were BOGO on Tuesday night and a great deck on the roof to watch the sunset. The views of the mountains were incredible there. Especially the day we went for breakfast and it was a little rainy and the fog/clouds lingered there. We enjoyed the Batesville grocery and restaurant on hwy 197 in Clarkesville Ga which is such a pretty road for a drive too. The little restaurant and gallery had great soup and sandwiches as well. The hotel is beautiful and the bed comfy. It was a smaller room but we weren’t in there much and we knew there wasn’t tv and that was fine. My husband was able to watch Monday night football downstairs in the big parlor area. The breakfast were delicious and varied from biscuits and gravy to omelets and waffles and french toast, always fresh fruit, juice, coffee. They had very well stocked keurig area upstairs with a nice selection of plastic free k cups which was really nice. We ate at the hotel restaurant once and we had prime rib and salmon which were both delicious. Everyone working there was so nice and helpful. I’m sorry I didn’t get the one ladies name but she was there just about all the time and she was amazing! She served breakfast the last few days we were there and we were lucky enough to meet her sweet daughter and granddaughter. We did ride to Helen one morning and enjoyed a funnel cake and coffee. We didn’t eat there that day but they have a really nice restaurant called Cowboys and Angels that we ate at on another trip. All in all we had a very relaxing time and we would like to go back someday.

An absolutely magical wedding reception at Lake Rabun Hotel, thanks to Mickey and her team. The ambiance of the historic lodge and the surrounding forest is pure romance. Our guests were enchanted by the rustic elegance, from the cozy wood interiors and custom decoration adorned with string lights, flowers, and vines to the beautiful screened-in patios. The reception felt like an intimate, enchanted celebration. Mickey delivered on a custom request that far exceeded my wife's and my expectations. The food was also a highlight of the evening. The culinary team delivered an elevated, dining experience that our guests are still talking about. Every dish was unique, delicious, and perfectly prepared. The seamless service from the restaurant staff was top-tier, making everyone feel cared for and special throughout the night. What truly set our experience apart was the genuine care from the entire team. They handled every detail with enthusiasm. The planning process was smooth and without stress, and on the day of the reception, their flawless coordination allowed us to simply relax and soak in every moment.

The only sad note of this review is that I can only grant up to five stars. My wife and I have had the joy of visiting the Lake Rabun Hotel twice, once many years ago for a very memorable dinner, and more recently for a weekend getaway. With snow in the forecast, we decided to press on to Lakemont, beating the advancing waves of snow by a few hours. And we were richly rewarded with a staff that could not have been more hospitable! The hotel, as a historic lodge, doesn't have large rooms, but there are numerous comfortable spaces throughout to lounge and chat. With the snow piling up on the road outside, several staff members took rooms in the lodge with us and promised us that breakfast and the full restaurant menu (plus a well-stocked bar with a lovely seasonal cocktail selection) would be available. We spent a lovely weekend watching the snow fall outside by the fireplace in the lobby, creating an unforgettable ambiance. The morning of our departure, I was somewhat disappointed that the roads had been plowed enough to enable our return to the grind of daily life. If you're looking for a romantic retreat to take your mind away from the stress of the world, look no further.

We had to reschedule our stay and the staff was very accommodating and helpful during this process. Hotel is very quaint and cozy. Breakfast each day was delicious. We loved the upstairs coffee bar near our room. Will definitely stay again for another mountain weekend getaway!

Only ate dinner here Saturday night at 8:15, we called earlier that day and that was the earliest they could seat us. 6 of us. Place is very nice, cool vibe. We walk in and server tells us they are out of one appetizer (no big deal that happens). We order another appetizer, she takes it back to the kitchen and then comes back 2 minutes later and tells us they are out of that too (the table next to us ordered the last one apparently). We were hearing about how good it was across the table. Alcoholic Drinks were good, Diet Coke was served flat. Went to order main course. First ordered salmon and then the waitress apologized and told us yet again they were out of that too. Not sure why this wasn’t mentioned at the beginning or why the restaurant operates being out of so many things. We go ahead and order what is available. After waiting a hour despite there being 5 tables max left eating in the restaurant, the food comes. Most of the food is decent. the soup was basically mush, we told them and they took that off the bill. Flatbread was not crispy at all, completely missed the mark. The cornbread was extremely bland. The mozzarella chicken was poorly put together. The steak and trout were good. The manager comes over and offers us a dessert to go on the house, we chose crème brûlée, will attach a picture of it here. Very frustrating experience and no $ was taken off the bill. Did not feel very prioritized at all and other tables were clearly getting better service. Very nice place, our server was pleasant but very bad experience and definitely can’t justify going back. Just sharing honest feedback of experience.

We came for our anniversary dinner. Everything was wonderful except the temperature out in the patio. Even as the hostess seated us she stated how cold it was out there but didn't do anything about it. Once a larger crowd came in though, they shut the windows and turned the heat on. Food was very delicious and our waitress was lovely.

First time was really good but have been back twice since and it was very disappointing. The biscuit and gravy was excellent but not sure about the hefty 18 dollar price tag. Got the chicken and waffles. The chicken tasted really good but unfortunately you only get like 8 nuggets. The waffle was under cooked and cold. My wife got the stuffed French toast. Basically it's a smear of yogurt, passion fruit. They don't even use powered sugar. More like four pieces of bread on a plate. It's a beautiful spot with, nice staff but disappointing for a brunch spot.

We went here for our tenth anniversary. Had to make rsvp, as we stopped for breakfast but learned if we weren't staying there you couldn't get breakfast---so we came for dinner :) Everything was perfect. We had the whole place to ourselves all the way till the very end, (looks like there was a brand new restaurant opened literally across the street that day) and it was super romantic and delicious! The trout was excellent, the lobster mango appetizer tasty-and the pasta of the day was pesto/eggplant and red onion and was delicious! Thank you for a wonderful experience and such friendly service!

I had a charming one-night stay. I was in the Garden room and enjoyed my time on the private deck reading and listening to the birds and the sound of water trickling in the nearby koi pond. I'd ordered a charcuterie board, which was promptly delivered upon check-in and was stuffed with goodies. Well worth it. Breakfast was delicious. One note: I'd asked for gluten free breakfast, and rather than substitute a g-f option for toast or bagel, the wheat bagel was simply deleted from my plate. Breakfast was still hearty with fresh fruit, eggs, hash browns, and sausage, plus juice and coffee. The second floor Coffee bar had lots of options for water, tea and coffee in between meals. My room & bathroom, deck, and hotel were sparkling clean. Great hot water. Kind & efficient staff. I recommend. *Note, the stone paths and patios outside, and the floors inside, are uneven, and there's also lots of stairs outside and inside- if you have difficulty walking be aware of this.

The setting for this restaurant can't be beat. The service is hit and miss here but the food is outstanding. The lamb and the trout dishes here are very good.

Magical from the start! Nestled in the woods, this place has the best charm and character of an old fishing or hunting lodge. The staff from the gal that checked us in, Cynthia the bartender and of course Taylor who served us one of the best fresh Trout dinners I've ever had... all added to the ambience and our enjoyment. As always when staying at Bed & Breakfast's, I'm concerned about the bed... mine was absolutely dreamy. Turn on the fireplace in my room and enjoyed a magical thunder and lighting storm throughout the night. Best night of sleep in a long time. Then wake to a hot cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast! This is a "must" for us to revisit! Well done!

Gorgeous location with wonderful food and amazing service! Highly recommend the LRH fritters, scallops and shrimp and grits! All were delicious! This place is a hidden gem! We will definitely be back!

I had seen on the PBS show "A Fork In The Road" about the Lake Rabun Hotel and the passionate reasons why a lady from Delaware was inspired to purchase it and bring it back to its glory of days gone by. Therefore we booked 2 nights in the Garden room which has its own private porch. And we enjoyed our stay very much. The price includes an enjoyable prix fixe breakfast menu each morning of a hot breakfast and fruit bar. Also a gas fireplace that burns day and night in the beautiful and quaint lobby. Also a fully stocked bar. Be aware that the hotel is not ADA accessible due to the age of the hotel. But that should not be a deterrent as stone Steps, walkways, and stairs are manageable. Lake Rabun and its surrounding area is beautiful and only a short drive from Atlanta. We will be back!

Not a great experience. Hotel was subpar. Breakfast was not very good. Had heard great things about the hotel and restaurant but heard it has gone down hill.

Quaint little lodge we thoroughly enjoyed. I wish there had been a way to adjust the temp in our room though. Everything else was extremely pleasant and we enjoyed a laid back and quiet weekend.

This place is beautiful, no doubt about that, and as many times as we've been, it always exudes charm. They struggled to seat us, despite the reservation, for about 15 minutes - it was hard to tell what was going on because there were lots of empty tables, so we assumed it was a staffing issue. We were seated and heard the specials - including two entrees that we decided on - airline chicken cordon bleu and pan seared halibut with tarragon seafood sauce. Service was friendly but not attentive, and that really comes down to water glasses, pepper mill, etc.. Wifey's cordon bleu was very good, paired with asparagus, grilled squash and mashed potatoes. There was a dijon mustard sauce, maybe buerre blanc base, that she really liked. I had the wedge, and I've had it here many times - when you first see it you might think you have the wrong salad. Pretty sure they use romaine hearts, not an actual iceberg wedge, in addition to the typical blue cheese, cherry tomatoes & bacon. It's good, but not great, and really could have used some cracked black pepper. The halibut was cooked perfectly, very tasty. And while I would consider rebranding anything called seafood sauce, it was also good. I asked for no risotto, but got it anyway along with green beans and grilled squash. Green beans dressed with oil and fine garlic, very tasty. I tried the risotto and it was way off - although if the seafood sauce was on it, it was still good. We ordered dessert - thai tea panna cotta was very good, not too sweet as advertised, easy to finish. Wifey's berry shortcake was not good - we think it was a Sara Lee pound cake slice with berries on top. We know this Sara Lee pound cake too well because it's a July 4 staple in a flag cake. Seemed like a shortcut that shouldn't be taken - definitely not shortcake, she ate the berries off the top. All in all, it was good, but felt like a slip from prior visits. We will continue to frequent.

We stayed at this cozy, small hotel for two nights during our visit to North Georgia. We stayed in two different rooms, one was a renovated room and I definitely advise paying the extra money to stay in one of these rooms. The first room we stayed in was the Lake Rabun room located on the second floor on the front end of the hotel. It was very small with barely any extra space for anything like luggage. The description of the room states that it has a view of the manmade waterfall and koi pond, and that it has a balcony. The view is minimal to none and the balcony is a shared space outside of the room with no direct access from the inside of the room, so their description is a bit confusing and misleading. The second room we stayed in was the Firefox room located on the third floor. This is one of the renovated rooms, it has an individual thermostat in case you want to control the temperature in the room and it had a lot more space. The room wasn't large by any means but it definitely was larger than the Lake Rabun room. Also the bathroom was a separate area in the room, not just a continuation of it separated by a curtain as it was in the Lake Rabun room. There is also a small closet in the Firefox room which was not available in the Lake Rabun room. The beds were comfortable with lots of pillows and although there was no soundproofing in the rooms, we weren't disturbed by any noise and had a pretty restful sleep both nights. In both rooms you're welcomed with chocolate chip cookies which are delicious and worth indulging in. The common areas include lots of balcony and porch space to relax and unwind, read a book or whatever. They also have lots of couches and chairs inside on both the ground and second floors if you prefer to stay inside. There are coffee machines on both guest room floors with single serve coffee, tea and hot chocolate pods as well as cereal bar snacks. They have a restaurant on the property where they serve breakfast (included in the room rate) and dinner. The breakfast was pretty much a fix set of items for the day which included a mix of eggs and bacon along with either biscuits or grits, fruit, yogurt or muffin and very good coffee. We were asked to reserve a time for breakfast as they wanted to maintain social distancing during COVID times. We also had dinner at their restaurant and we were impressed with their food, wine options and service. We did not expect to find such an excellent restaurant in such a rural area, but we did and we loved it! Their cornbread croutons were to die for but honestly everything we had at dinner was wonderful.

We visited Lake Rabun area from Atlanta last weekend for a day trip to celebrate my in-laws 38th anniversary and went to this place for an early dinner. The hotel and restaurant location is beautiful with 100 years of history. We arrived without checking the menu assuming most restaurants have some plant based and/or vegan options which is our dietary preference. To our shock their food menu is limited to 4 appetizers and 5 entre, all meat options but one appetizer. Being in so proximity of Atlanta and frequented by all types of visitors, not having any vegetarian option seems they are cut-off from reality. The menu was on printer paper probably intended for one time use and that is a big NO for claimed classy restaurant. On asking, the server communicated the request to chef and assured us that we won't go home with empty stomach. There were few sides to the meat dishes that would have created 4 distinct main vegetarian courses but that did not get communicated to the chef. This is a classic case when you have to make decisions on-the-fly and you get caught like a deer with headlight. The chef put together few sides in big family style dishes accompanied with huge bowl of pasta and salads. Check out pictures for the amazing dishes and the flavor was on the spot as well. The mix drinks menu was limited as well but they were of good quality. We enjoyed them thoroughly. The service was nice overall but server got over friendly and started unnecessary conversations. I could hear the hint of patronizing attitude in the verbal and body language. At the end they charged us 25% gratuity without any prior notification. For 4 adults and 2 kids under 5, we were small party and that was not even the point had they informed us about gratuity ahead of time. Overall it was a mix experience and there is a remote chance that we would go there again. I gave 3 stars each for being accommodative on menu, quality food and quality of drinks. I took 2 stars away for the botchy communication to chef and overprized food with exorbitant gratuity without consent.

Tonight was absolutely perfect for five high school friends that get together a few times a year. We arrived early and we were seated immediately. (We did make reservations!) Such a beautiful setting and lovely decor! Our waiter, Montgomery, let us know the specials for the evening and was informative about all of the entrées. We ordered the pecan crusted trout which came as a filet, "no bones", and was buttery and delicious. Also the glazed salmon with a risotto side, green beans, (simple and perfect!), and a few zucchini planks, (grilled perfectly!). I am always impressed with simply cooked and delicious vegetables! Montgomery helped us through a wine-ordering snag and we were pleased with the result. She gave us the dessert options and they all sounded great. We ordered a trifecta which included a chocolate mousse, a little key lime pie, and a lovely custard with fresh fruit which was shared by all. All the portions were generous and well prepared. We will definitely return!. Our only, and I mean only, concern was that one of us is hard of hearing and the speaker above our table was a bit loud. We would have enjoyed a printed desert menu or even a printed specials menu. So overall, a nice time was had by all!

Probably the best food we have ever experienced! Our server, Tayler was the sweetest and exceeded our expectations even though she was new server. We stayed 2 nights in the main cottage. Too cute and sooooo relaxing!

Beautiful hotel and restaurant- perfect setting for our 19th anniversary dinner. I was able to make reservations using the Open Table app and indicated our occasion and our vegan diet when I made the reservation. Our waiter was very nice and acknowledged our anniversary and checked with the chef for our entree. They prepared a scrumptious baked acorn squash with quinoa and veggies. Absolutely delicious. We also had bowls of their leek soup which was delicious, thick and just the right temperature. We also shared the strawberry walnut and feta salad with a honey based dressing. Also excellent. Husband had two speciality drinks and I had a Bloody Mary. Overall excellent place and highly recommend. It's a bit pricey though so be prepared for that. Menu changes regularly. We did not opt for dessert.

We have been coming to LRH for over 5 years-if not longer-and we have never once been disappointed with the restaurant, until now, August 8th. 2019. The food use to be outstanding, which was said to be from nearby farms and organic. The fish-which I have always gotten-(trout) has always been so flavorsome. Everything I have ever eaten was so tasty and so fresh! My guy had never complained either -until yesterday, 8.8.2019. Even the service was not good. Our waiter disappeared for a long time. We saw him maybe a total of three times. And when I asked for two stirrers for my drink, an old fashion, which was actually the best thing there last night other then the quinoa, one of the waiter brought the stirrers to me and placed them on my menu. I could not believe he used his hands, not a napkin, and that he placed them on the menu! They use to bring FRESH bread as soon as we sat down, but we had to flag down the hostess to ask for s basket of bread. AND THEY WERE HARD AND DRY! I am not good with change. And this place has changed in a bad way. I got the halibut with a roasted slice of eggplant, and quinoa, and the halibut WAS DRY!!!!!!!!! I did not feel as if the manager or the waiter were all that sympathetic about my issues with the dry fish and dry bread. They did offer to bring another, but I was ready to go. We were not offered dessert like we were always offered in the past, nor did we want any. We drive 3 hours to Lake Rubun Hotel to dine, and it was a huge disappointment. I do not think we will be going back.

Very rustic white table restaurant. Short on wait staff and David the good bartender is no longer there. The young lady "filling in" had to read the drink recipes from a book. The whiskey sour was not quite right so we change for a glass of wine. Service was very slow which takes away from the experience. Very quiet and needs music for ambience. The food arrived and was excellent. We ordered the trout and beet salad along with a farmers plate (vegetarian) . It was all very good. We will be back but hopefully they can work on improvements.

Overall, we had a positive experience. The best part was the incredibly kind and friendly staff. They gave us great recommendations and always made us feel super comfortable and welcome. We also really loved the food. Dinner was better than breakfast, but we genuinely enjoyed every meal we had! We did have a few issues unfortunately but nothing catastrophic. My biggest complaint was the shower. The water would suddenly turn freezing with no warning. Super uncomfortable! I know it's an old building but might want to upgrade the plumbing so each room can have their own hot water. Another thing about the rooms--the Lake Rabun room is quite small and we were constantly stumbling over our luggage. Also, its nice being close to the balcony, but since it is a shared balcony we could often hear noise from other guests into the night. Another issue was they couldn't seem to keep track of our name. It seemed to us that they were understaffed--in the mornings, the person working the front desk was also serving breakfast. For our dinner reservation and all of our breakfasts they couldn't find our name, even though I confirmed multiple times and it was on our check in documents. They were super nice and seated us anyway but you can't help but question their organization. Finally, one majorly annoying thing that happened was on the day we reserved kayaks. We drove out to the location and the man who ran the rental service said he had called the hotel and canceled the reservations because of lightning reports. I asked the front desk about it and she had not checked her voice mails and that's why we were not informed. I dont really blame the front desk girl--she probably had to run breakfast orders--but I do feel they need more staff or a better system to help keep track of these things. So for the most part we enjoyed our stay, but they definitely need to improve in a few important areas.

This place is story book charming and southern living at its finest! The rooms are cozy, the front desk clerks are friendly and shared great info about the beautiful area, and the food at restaurant was fantastic. The shrimp and grits were so flavorful and delicious and it's a dish we've tried all over the US. I had the fish special and loved every bite! Save room for dessert; the blueberry cobbler and ice cream was a hit! There are no TVs in the rooms, so bring a book! The hotel doesn't sell you many things, so prepare and bring water, snacks, ect. There are coffee stations and shared fridges in the halls and water dispensers, but unfortunately ours needed refilling. There are several hikes nearby (tallulah, angel and panther falls, minnehaha) and Alley's store for lunch is 5 mins away. The b&b isn't directly on the lake, but just across. The breakfast was mostly self serve which was different from most b&b but very yummy! Peaceful retreat to get you to slow down and very romantic area!

I've eaten here twice. The first time was for dinner and the experience was wonderful. This morning we had brunch and had a totally different experience. The food was pretty good. The biscuits and gravy were the best I've ever had. The food came out quickly, but service was super slow, especially when it was time to get our check. We waited about a half hour between finishing our food and finally being able to walk out the door. Once we were in the car, I noticed our card was charged almost double what it should have been. My husband didn't look at the itemized bill--he just added a tip and signed. I sent him back in and he came back with $12 where they charged $22 for an entree instead of $10. But it was still way over. I looked at my mom's bill (she was at our table) and saw they had added 25 percent gratuity on our table of 6. Maybe that's on the menu...I didn't notice it, but maybe it's there. So my husband added another tip on top of that without realizing. That's our bad...not blaming the restaurant for that. But still, that means the merch we bought in the store for $20 also had a $5 tip added to that and then my husband added another $4 on top of that. Plus the $5 tip on the extra amount they charged for that entree. I would still try this restaurant again. It's a lovely atmosphere. But I will be checking the bill more carefully from here on out.

Whilst my Lady & I were traveling through, she booked this very historic and quaint restaurant for a late night dinner for us. Once we found the place it was exactly what you'd think. Hostess greeted us with generous compliments. Table took a bit long to prepare. But we didn't mind as we waltzed around the lobby reading the history of the area and hotel. When it came down to the dinner. The starter was a great: Burrata. We then had a bottle of their Malbec. Was a great choice. And good selection of wine all around. Entrees were the pork for me and Airline chicken for her. I had to alter my pork to be cooked thoroughly due to bovine allergy. Chef accommodated me great. Service was good. Nothing out of this world. But was nothing wrong at all with the service. If we are ever in town again I think I'd like to spend some time here and try different menu items and wine. Hidden gem in our eyes for sure. Bravo!

Cozy hotel at the lake Rabun, close to many trails and falls. Quaint and artistic rooms, they could however be a lot smaller than they may seem in the pictures online. The website description could be a little confusing, so its best to call and confirm before you book your preferred rooms. The hotel has a notable restaurant, which is the best part of this property. The service is awesome and a special mention to the chef whose delectable drinks and dishes was the favorite part of our stay.

We had a brunch on Sunday , Came because an amazing reviews and awards. WE reserved place and arrived at 2pm . Order was eggs Benedict that was overcooked and a Burgers that was well done even if we asked them to make it medium. We waited for a food more than an hour and the manager came and apologized, said that is no cheff and charges us full price .Very disappointing and highly not recommended this place.

It's really sad to see the restaurant of this century old hotel in failure. I've been many times over the years and the food and service have always been inconsistent. However two visits in 2023 were so terrible I have to conclude the absentee owner doesn't care any longer. On both visits our server explained that the bartender had failed to show up so cocktails were not available. The entrees both nights were really awful. We waited at least 15 minutes for our reserved table when the restaurant was less than half full. The servers, though well meaning, are largely untrained and over their heads. For the high cost of a dinner out, I would never recommend the Lake Rabun Hotel.

Terrible food. I would give 0 starts if they'd allow. I ordered the scallops that should have been served with cabbage and apples and bacon. It came to me cold with frozen succotash swimming in store bought sweet chili sauce. I asked about the cabbage as nicely as I could and asked them to please heat up the plate. They brought it back to me even colder with a scoop of cabbage on top of the succotash. When asked how it was, I reported the truth politely. No adjustments made. My husband ordered the waffles and chicken. He said it was flavorless. After drinks, our bill was $106. It was absolutely not worth it at all. Spend your money elsewhere.

I am reviewing just the restaurant. I have not stayed at the hotel. I went for Sunday Brunch with 3 neighbors/friends and we booked in advance. Parking was easy with the lot right out front. There are nice grounds and a warm lobby with fireplace, 2 pianos, a wood bar and more. A receptionist is near the bar there. She sat us in a few minutes in the deck area which can be outside in summer, but has the pull down plastic to keep it warm in winter. A large tree supports some of the deck. Its rather nice. They do have additional sealing inside but they were not using it at the time. Had others come maybe they would, and its equally nice. Your menu has the days date and offering. It changes. Its one page but certainly enough good things for most anyone. The other 3 at my table all had the eggs benedict. I had the Lake Rabun platter. It had 2 pancakes, butter and maple syrup, scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, biscuit split open with gravy, and redskin fried potatos. The eggs benedict was 2 halves of an english muffin, county ham, egg, hollandaise sauce and on the side bacon, grits, and red skin potatos. Both were $12 and both were good! My only complaint is on the platter so several things, the 2 pancakes were cold. This happens sometimes when theres so many things that go on one plate. However if they offer such a plate, they should work on seeing that all of them arrive hot. Lake Rabun is a nice area and makes a good getaway. Its more of an adult getaway. Mostly older monied people hang out around here. Many upscale folks from Atlanta started going up there in the 1920s, 30s and contine to this day. Lakefront homes are rather expensive! Should you find yourself in this area in North Georgia, its worth a stop! If your familiar with the place where you go over a bridge in Tallulah Falls with water to the west, its a 12 min drive from there.

Beautiful rustic hotel, but rooms very small and I mean very small! You can also hear the people next to you. I don't enjoy hearing snoring from the next room! Bring your earplugs. Towels not changed out each day. Cleaning is lax, dirty coffee cups left in the common areas for hours, large palmetto bug ( roach) found in our room when we checked in. Also the table as you enter the lobby is dirty. See below. Not a great first impression, and it has not been changed out in the two & half days we have been here. Not difficult to change the linen each day on a table. Very surprised how these details were overlooked. The best thing about this hotel is the restaurant!!! I would highly recommend the restaurant, but would not stay at the hotel again.

Update their hours Yelp. You have them closed on Wednesday. They are not. Lucky we didn't rely on Yelp. Food was great.

I'm itchy. Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant needs to visit Highlands, North Carolina and learn to run a bed and breakfast/ resort. Let's begin with the smaller than advertised rooms.What a nightmare. I'm sitting outside of the room when my nostrils are assaulted by neighbor dropping a large smelly deuce. How do I know? Well, the papyrus walls and doors allowed a funk and sounds of gastrointestinal distress assault two of my senses. I was having a conversation with a pal in the lhall when I start hearing what sounds like a wrestling match, or a bear attacking small prey followed by water splashing and grunting. Is someone drowning a beaver? Gross. Small room, we stayed in the legend. Nothing legendary about it at all. Dusty, musty drafty and not a great experience by any means. The thin walls allow all sounds from your neighbors in. No thanks. House keeper came in basically just sprayed Febreeze in the room and didn't make the bed. Let's move on to the breakfast. The main course was a casserole or as my wife called it... cheesy dirt casserole. It was as if someone took a trowel, scooped out some earth and melted cheddar over it. Wash your taters! This place is a dump. I realize that Yelp scores are a sliding scale based on where you are at, so if you're in a small Appalachian town and you see four stars-- look at who is posting. If they are wearing a burlap sack and rates Subway that adjoins a gas station as five stars... might wanna steer clear.

The restaurant is a stellar with wonderful cocktails and delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the breakfast included was amazing. A nice and relaxing time with great food and drink!

Had the opportunity to have dinner at the Rabun Hotel the other night. What a pleasant surprise it was to experience a really great meal in a rustic mountain setting near a beautiful lake. The scenic drive there was a great experience in its self, but the food was also amazing once we arrived. Would recommend you try this unique and beautiful place when you are looking for that quite night out. You'll be glad you did.

This review is for the restaurant only. I ate their Christmas day and my food was hardly edible. My drink was awful. How hard is it to make a Gin and soda with lime? I have never felt robbed before after a meal until I saw my check. A person at my table order the steak and it looked like the steak you get from the waffle house. The owner of this hotel has checked out and obviously does not care anymore. It is a shame because it was a very good restaurant at one time but those days are gone. Do not eat here and if you do, do not expect much. Truly a pathetic sad place to eat. The owner should be ashamed of herself but she's making too much money to care. She is truly stealing people's money and if she had any shame - she'd sell the place.

The most pleasant part of our experience was waiting for our table with a cocktail. Our first bad sign was that my wine took more time to make than the appetizer to bring out. Apparently that was due to an inexperienced bartender. The only appetizer of interest was pimento cheese bites, which could have easily came frozen from ingles. The burger was well done, supposed to be Medium, yet came out gray. The Portion size was awful. The shrimp and grits had great flavor but was about a third of a normal portion size. There was quite possibly a 1/3 cup of grits. We ordered a salad but they forgot about it, but eventually brought it out. Looking at the table next to us, we weren't mad about the salad because their salad looked like 4 pieces of lettuce and a few tomatoes. Everyone around us was visible unhappy due to the food and Slow service. I felt like we should have warned people before they sat down. One of the worst dining experiences

Randomly found this place online and booked a room for one night. It was perfect from the moment we walked in the door. Lots of warm, rustic charm, plenty of space to lounge around the fireplace, read, play board games, etc. Ken was so welcoming he even asked if we had any dietary restrictions upon arrival in order to accommodate us accordingly for breakfast and dinner! We stayed in the Garden room- which was so cozy and the only room with a private balcony. The room felt bigger than the online photos showed and the bathroom was fairly large with a stand alone shower and pedestal sink. Dinner was ABSOLUTELY delicious and the staff was simply superb!! The Shrimp and Grits Spring Rolls and the Crab Bisque are a MUST TRY!! This place wins simply based on customer service, the restaurant makes me wish I could give it 10 stars!!! Good job by all, can't wait to visit again. PROS: *friendly staff, very accommodating *awesome bar and restaurant *plenty of public lounge space *very quiet at night *No TV's in the rooms (this was a pro for us since we came to "get away from it all") you may want to bring your iPad or tablet. CONS: *it's an old house, the walls are very thin and the floors slant and creek, there is also a 1" crack under each door- don't expect total privacy here. *there aren't any "lake" views. The best view of the lake is actually from the parking lot through someone else's private property.

The restaurant food, service and atmosphere is fantastic. Great place to celebrate an occasion. Drinks are also pretty good in my experience.

Overall a wonderful and charming stay in the mountains. The hotel was cozy and perfect for a weekend getaway with bae. The breakfast was sooooo good - filling and delicious. Shout out to the guy that runs the bar. Make sure you get a chance to try out the cocktails and hang out at the bar - very knowledgeable and a good place to chill before or after your meal. Will be back!

I had the opportunity to stay in the hotel and have dinner in the restaurant. Both were outstanding! The hotel was cozy with a rustic feel. Everything you want in a hotel, comfortable and clean with the best breakfast I've had at a hotel. The dinner was superb and the service was on point. They also have fabulous mixed drinks. Their food is farm to table so everything was fresh and tasted amazing! I look forward to visiting again!

There are times in life you get a recommendation from a friend that is great and there are other times you get recommendations that are just ok and then of course there are those times you get recommendations that leave you thinking.. wtf was that guy talking about? well, ladies and gentlemen I'm happy to announce Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant knocks it out of the ball park and I am grateful for the fabulous recommendation that we received from a close friend on this one for this amazing establishment aka Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant. There's a reason there is a 5 star on Yelp and it means the business is as good as it gets. Well take this one from me yelpers.. Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant is not only as good as it gets but really Really as good as it gets! Most recent visit was for my wife's bday and let me tell you.. we enjoyed our brunch so much we decided to come back the same day for dinner after an exhaustive and fun day in Lake Rabun - a true gem of Georgia. The food quality is bar none and I have to say the chef at this restaurant is top notch and knows what he is doing. The flavors and quality of the food are just spectacular. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and another egg dish for brunch, Lamb shanks main course and Scallops main course for dinner. For dessert we had creme brulee - A+, a chocolate cake that was decadent and the waiter was kind enough to make the cake special with a birthday candle to commemorate the special day. I will probably come back and edit this review when I am little more awake but I wanted to make sure I gave high marks for Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant before I forgot. Parking is a breeze and free, Lake Rabun is absolutely stunning and very peaceful and there is a waterfall called Lake Tallulah that is very famous near by. Tip: another waterfall which is even closer called Minnehaha Falls is our top choice as it is an easy hike to and the waterfall is very beautiful and accessible. Kids and wife loved it. Fruit picking at a nearby orchard (can't remember name but will update when I find out) is a must for family fun as well. 5 solid yelp stars for Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant and a "doesn't get much better than this" to describe our experience. The people are nice, very cute and rustic. They have a cockroach problem. We checked out the same night we checked in. Massive roaches climbing out of the wall around our heads while sleeping and flying across the room. Cute place but needs to be addressed. The lady the next morning was rude and got mad at us for everything. The manager is nice and turned things around for us. He refunded part of the stay and is going to refund the gift card back to CC.

My dad and I surprised my mom for a girls relaxation weekend and we both fell in love with this place! The staff was so helpful and welcoming! The complimentary breakfast was amazing, dinner was delicious and brunch the next morning was the perfect finish! Everything was so fresh!! You're missing out if you don't get the pimento cheese fritters! Sunday afternoon we had an hour massage and 30 minute facial which were both very relaxing. It was a perfect little getaway! We will definitely be back! Next time with our significant others!

Our recent dinner at the Lake Rabun Hotel Restaurant was a very memorable one. Especially delicious were the tomato salad with pickled shallots, feta cheese & toasted chickpeas. The weekly vegetarian offering was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted: home-made herbed gnocchi, broccolini pesto, feta cheese, local chanterelle mushrooms, toasted almonds & lemon chili garlic oil. A very cute hotel but really struggles to serve. Staff is constantly stressed and talking about staffing issues and ignoring the guest. We walked in the hotel and just stared at instead of welcomed. You carry your own bags up 2 flights of stairs and not chance your going to get help. You always feel like you need to make the staff feel ok. The owners need to implement hospitality training. I came down for breakfast while my wife was sleeping and entered the restaurant with just 2 other couples. The server continued to discuss her personal life with a couple while I waited 20min. Finally gave up and drove to Clayton and had a great breakfast. The food is tasty so maybe just do dinner but I would avoid staying the night. Should be only a restaurant. - Mike

Hands down one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. You definitely need reservations. And if you want a particular table (outdoor/indoor) you need to specify that during the reservation. They have very few tables so it's hard for them to be accommodating during dinner service. My husband and I both had the filet - you can't go wrong! I also had the breakfast that was included with my stay and it was impressive. As far as the cabin goes it was just your average cabin. I would go back just for the restaurant experience though!

This place wasn't very good. The hostess had to pour over her reservation list to find us a table...but the dining room was full of empty tables. The food was overdone and bland. The okra was good however. The bartender was very kind and accommodating. The seating was jammed together and the patrons were rude. The atmosphere was very pretentious....but the food didn't match up. All show and no go. And not that pleasant of a show either.

Mixed, but mostly positive experience for dinner. The Tilefish got rave reviews and the scallops were above average. The cheeseburger should be avoided; overcooked, under-sized and served with only secret sauce and a limp lettuce leaf. Needed onions, tomatoes, pickles and maybe jalapeños for the more adventurous. No tabasco sauce available and saving a few pennies with Texas Pete's seems is not reflective of the ambiance. Drinks are over-priced but the service is first class.

My wife and I recently held our wedding here and we can't say enough good things about the entire weekend. The hotel was the perfect setting for what we wanted, the wonderful staff made it an even better experience, and the food, both breakfast and dinner, was delicious!

We just had a wedding here and I can't say enough about the staff, they were excellent and courteous. This place knows how to get things done and has outstanding service. The food is excellent as well! Rooms are a bit pricey, but overall it is a place to experience and we know we will be back for our anniversary and more in the years to follow. Vito & Carly

Hotel is great. People there are wonderful. Restaurant is overpriced for what you get but not way off. The indoor and outdoor areas have a septic system odor but it isnt overwhelming. My only serious issue is their website claims the lake is across the street which is highly deceptive. You cannot even see the lake from this hotel. There are houses and woods across the street and past that is the lake. Stating the lake is across the street is why we decided to go there as we wanted to see the lake. They need to rethink their approach to marketing. Otherwise, it is all very good.

This review is on the restaurant, not the hotel. I started off my meal with a Caesar salad. The presentation was wonderful, but my first bite was overwhelmingly filled with sardine taste. I then had my mother try a bite and she refused to eat anymore. I sent the salad back. My entree was steak with Yukon gold potatoes, asparagus, and onions. SO GOOD! It was delicious and my steak was cooked perfectly. I cleaned the plate. I ordered the vanilla bean creme brûlée for my dessert. It was clear to me as soon as it was brought out that one, they need to seriously work on their plating/presentation and two, the sugar on top had not been given time to cool and crystallize. I was able to completely peel off the caramelized top and it was chewy. Once I got to the custard, part of it was curdled. All in all, my entree was wonderful and so was my service, but they are lacking in other areas.
