“Lake Taupo Magic: Black Swans,Sunsets & Pure Bliss” 🌅🦢💦 Not only the largest lake in NZ, but also the second largest freshwater lake in the world (yup, Earth-level flex). The views? Unreal. The sunset? Straight up breathtaking. 🌅 I even caught some black swans just vibing in the wild swimming around,showing off, and one even tried to sneak into my selfie 📸🦢😂. The lake is so massive you can’t possibly cover it in one day, but I drove along and stopped at a few spots each view more stunning than the last. Crystal clear water,Mount Ruapehu chilling in the background,and my motel stay literally overlooking the lake = pure bliss. This place is a must visit whether lakes are on your bucket list or you’re just passing through,stop and take a moment to admire how insanely beautiful Lake Taupo really is. Lake is beautiful! It was windy that day. Got to see few hot springs near the lake. Black swans are there too. Beautiful place!

Lake Taupo is a must-see destination in New Zealand. Its vastness and beauty are truly breathtaking. Whether you're into water sports like kayaking, fishing, or jet boating, or simply enjoy relaxing by the water, Lake Taupo has something for everyone. I loved exploring the surrounding areas and hiking to stunning viewpoints. The crystal-clear waters and the majestic Mount Ruapehu in the distance create a picturesque backdrop. It's the perfect place to unwind and connect with nature.

I think that the rock carving at the lake is not necessarily the point that you need to visit, but I do recommend to take a cruise ride across the like, if you have time and finances for that. You will learn all kind of interesting things about the lake and the nature around.

Visited the lake in one evening. It was magnificent. Especially when the golden light of sunset was shining. Taupo city on the Lakeside was beautiful. There were many restaurants too.

2024: New Zealand's iconic lake. Dripping with natural beauty and very livable.

Great place to be. Fishing, swimming, water skiing sightseeing with a boat..... The lake is amazing, it's so large and so many wonderful views.

The largest lake in New Zealand and North Island with 616km2. It's calm and beautiful. Lots of activities happen on the lake: kayaking, paragliding, cruise, jetboat...... Motels and restaurants are just on the lake side.

We engaged a condo on the banks of Lake Taupo for a week Enjoyed this magical area As we planned our New Zealand holiday, it was a no brainer to engage the condo as a base for touring the area Would do again...

This was my second trip around Lake Taupo and without a doubt, both times, one of the prettiest parts of the North Island drive. This community area is stunning with beautiful lakeside hotels and Airbnb's, fantastic restaurants, and tons of available activities. Mostly what I enjoyed was strolling around the lake edge and admiring the view, but there's actually a lot more options if you have time. There's several companies offering water sports and lake activities, great locations for picnics, and several miles of hiking all around the region. The husband and I were here at the end of winter so we settled with admiring the gorgeous sunset while driving into town and stopping by the lake side and a few vista points before leaving. If you have time, definitely stop by and at least enjoy the view, or better yet actually plan to spend a few days here if you can.

This is just another part of New Zealand's picturesque landscape. Lake Taupo and the surrounding area is breathtaking. If you are driving through, take a few minutes at least, pull over and take it all in. You won't regret the pit stop. Sometimes the journey is more rewarding the destination.
